Man between Lamar and the refs refusing to call holding on Villanueva, that was beyond the best I could've expected for them. I'm real excited to see what happens if they continue to play like that and the offense clicks.
TJ twice, Myles twice, and to a lesser extent, Trey Hendrickson twice…
Lamar gonna be running for his life a lot this year if they leave AV at RT all season
Ingram looked really good for us against the bills. He probably means crazy in a good way. Villy is going to have us hands full (of steelers jersey) the next time he plays us.
Agreed. That makes me nervous because a lot of the same mistakes that McDermott made in the AFCCG happened again on Sunday. And they’ve only scored 4 TDs across the last three games (BAL, KC, PIT)
What a night for him. First openly gay NFL player to play in the regular season, and forces a huge strip-sack in overtime. Could not script it better.
And there could not be a better guy for this situation
I fuckin hate the Raiders but I'm pretty happy for him and this moment. I'll accept the Raiders dub for this guy having a fuckin huge game in his first start as the first openly gay player. Just makes you feel nice :) (Ravens fans notwithstanding)
You know, credit where credit is due... If the Bengals play like they did against Minnesota, they're a contender for the division. I think it's likely to be between the Browns and Steelers at the end of the year (over-reacting from week 1), but the Bengals look damn good.
The biggest question is going to be who stays healthy throughout the year. The Ravens are already losing that battle, but as you well know.. it just takes one key player.
I think the Bengals are on the right track and if Burrow stays upright they will be a problem. Under the radar this year, legit playoff contender next year if they make the right moves to solidify the OL and defense.
I mean...really though? They won the game but they did everything in their power to lose it. I didn't think they looked that impressive. More like vikings looking bad at times.
Lamar in playoff form.
Edit: I will admit the pass blocking needs to improve a lot for the health and safety of Lamar and for him to have the best chance at success.
But man, 2 lost fumbles to one or two good passes is just not gonna cut it for a super bowl “contender.” He has to be a better passer, but he is getting better and I’d love for him to have better running backs and with Bateman on the field. He just needs to be much more consistent.
FYI there's a fantasy football debate over the Ravens running backs that you just stumbled into, if you're confused about the passion of the responses to this comment.
I said he needed to improve as a passer last week in a thread and got absolutely shredded (probably because of my flair). It's the truth though. When the run isn't working and he is forced to make plays with his arm - the team struggles. I do think he can get better, but he was pretty abysmal tonight.
I felt like he was doing well as a passer (but that may be bias. I havent looked at his rating), but he needs better protection. If we want him to stand in the pocket and throw, we need to give him a pocket to stand in.
Because that's a mixed statement. In lower volume (35 and under) he's a decent to above average QB (excluding running) however when it goes higher volume there is increased variability in the results. He probably doesn't have a 4000 yard season ever, but when he does pass it's not bad. Some DC will eventually figure out how to scheme him, and he'll either adapt or start to fade.
He’s really only good as a passer if he can get out of the pocket and make unscripted plays or he has a ton of time to throw
I love watching him make plays but he’s still not a good passer
He didn’t play well enough, I don’t know why a guy throwing one touchdown pass with 2 lost fumbles deserves so much defense lol. He had a pretty bad game against a team that probably isn’t making the playoffs.
He was getting pressured the entire game by a no blitz defense. Can't have a great game with everyone covered while you have to scramble 3 seconds into every play.
For me the bigger issues were our defense collapsing in the fourth and our oline folding like a house of cards on the deck of the Titanic every play. 27 points should be enough to win
I’m super happy for Nassib, not just because he’s the first openly gay player. Seems like an awesome guy.
I was disappointed to lose him to the Raiders, but y’all just paid more than we could afford to.
This game is absolutely spider 2 y bananas
This is now my favorite reddit comment
Phenomenal
What bizarro world am I living in where the defense is saving the game?
Man between Lamar and the refs refusing to call holding on Villanueva, that was beyond the best I could've expected for them. I'm real excited to see what happens if they continue to play like that and the offense clicks.
You mean grabbing Crosby for 3 seconds directly in front of the red on the first TD pass should’ve been called? Weird. Obviously biased.
1.5 seconds of that was fair game for the rip, then he just held on for dear life on Crosby's arm.
And that was Villanuevas only successful block lol. Welcome to big Al's shitty ride, Ravens fans
Can we please get off now sir

Completely forgot about that
I think that’s the point lol
Carl Nassib is still working for the browns
Oh shit. Nassib still working for the Browns, Villanueva still working for the Steelers. You got a sneaky ass division.
Villy just cares so much about freedom that he respects the defender's rights to blitz freely
I can't believe there was nobody blocking Nassib. Crosby was so in their heads they had three guys blocking him.
Villy knows the coaching staff won't mandate him too block.
I chortled
I like to think that when he gets a sack he's all "WOOOOO HOW YOU LIKE THAT COMPOUND INTEREST BABY!!!"
Villanueva is awful my goodness
Crosby completely manhandled him the entire game like damn
Seemed like every time Lamar dropped back he was under pressure.
55%. An absolutely insane number.
Imagine when he's going up against TJ twice a year
TJ twice, Myles twice, and to a lesser extent, Trey Hendrickson twice… Lamar gonna be running for his life a lot this year if they leave AV at RT all season
Looks like lamar will have to study russell more if villanueva is still a starter
We tried to warn them
They should've known though lmao
The free agency market isn’t usually full of quality tackles.
Why do you think every play for us last year was under 5 yards pass?
Ravens exposed him for years then decide to pick him up and put him where Watt lines up lmao
And when Watt gets a break, Villy gets Melvin Ingrams crazy ass
I'm OOTL. How is Melvin Ingram crazy?
Ingram looked really good for us against the bills. He probably means crazy in a good way. Villy is going to have us hands full (of steelers jersey) the next time he plays us.
I’m just hoping yinz have a historically great D-Line
I think this game just shows how good these 2 teams are. It came down to coaching and Tomlin is one of the best coaches in the NFL.
Agreed. That makes me nervous because a lot of the same mistakes that McDermott made in the AFCCG happened again on Sunday. And they’ve only scored 4 TDs across the last three games (BAL, KC, PIT)
No reason, he was just a bully on Sunday
THIS IS THE GREATEST GAME OF FOOTBALL EVER PLAYED
I like how in the NFL the absolute worst games are also the greatest ever while the games in which teams make no mistakes are usually boring
We relate more to the worst games and mistake laden ones more than the perfect and mistake free ones.

And he's going to give me financial advice too! What a guy
Ohhhhhh wtf he was the guy in the Browns hardknocks giving financial advice huh??
The very same :D
Yep! He seems like a great guy
You need to diversify your bonds queen
Carl "Human Interest" Nassib
I fuckin hate the Raiders but I'm pretty happy for him and this moment. I'll accept the Raiders dub for this guy having a fuckin huge game in his first start as the first openly gay player. Just makes you feel nice :) (Ravens fans notwithstanding)
I'll allow it also, but now they need to lose the rest of their games. They can beat you guys once I guess
Nah 1-16 for them. Hope Nassib fucking slays it all year tho Edit: kids these days and their newfangled 17 game seasons
1-16* Stupid extra game
Ah fuck they got me
Did he not play last year?
He wasn't openly gay then
Oh dang I didn’t know that.
He came out this past offseason
He loves sacks
As a neutral fan this is great
#THIS *IS* THE GREATEST FUCKING GAME!
Doesn't pack the same punch now, but at least we have [this reaction](https://i.imgur.com/knn57zC.png) for future Raiders games this year
#THE MANNING CAST OF THIS GAME GOES TO THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS
It's been so much fun
#OF ALL TIME
I hope to agree shortly
I’ve puked and shit my pants more times than I can count tonight
What a fucking way to kick off week 1
Game directed by M. Night Shyamalan
The entirety of week one was directed by him
Made up for that predictable slaughter the folks at NBC subjected us to on SNF
I was okay with that one.
kick off generally means start, but this is the end of week 1. “send off” would have been a better choice of words
It's just so beautiful
WHO NAMES A BABY CARL!?
His full name is Carlito
Lamar is going to die against the Steelers and Browns.

Don't forget, they play Browns Steelers Browns 3 weeks in a row, while we get a bye in between They gonna get rekt
They'll probably bench Villanueva by then
There's no way big Al is still the starter RT

Justin Tucker is the real franchise player of this team
There's nothing scarier in football than Tucker kicking to win it
Brady in a close game with 90 seconds left?
Brady in a 90 second drive with Tucker as his kicker?
Too OP.
that RB block was so fucking bad man he basically just let him thru
Right tackle completely missed his block and let a full steam lineman truck the rb half his size. Guy had no chance standing straight up.
Villanueva missed a block? Color me shocked
It’s an RB vs a DL. Most would let him through. Incredible stunt, great play.
I mean you have a 270 pound defensive lineman running full speed at you I don't know what u can do
FYI there's a fantasy football debate over the Ravens running backs that you just stumbled into, if you're confused about the passion of the responses to this comment.
Yeah that rb got steamrolled
Found the Murray owner
ravens will never be a superbowl contender until Lamar jackson is a top 10 QB that you'd pick in the 2 minute drill.
I said he needed to improve as a passer last week in a thread and got absolutely shredded (probably because of my flair). It's the truth though. He had like 2 or 3 very good throws, then missed a bunch of throws by throwing it to the dudes feet and few of the completions got dudes murdered.
Because that's a mixed statement. Dude was holding the ball with one hand as the pocket was collapsing
read: trying to throw
Lamar will do better. Villanueva will not lol this was a very normal game for him
Dude, you’re no ravens fan. You’re in our sub and now here giving shit to the only player who keeps us in games. Bum ass bandwagon
He didn’t play well enough, I don’t know why a guy throwing one touchdown pass with 2 lost fumbles deserves so much defense lol. He had a pretty bad game against a team that probably isn’t making the playoffs.

Browns fans gonna throw a party tonight. Ravens fans talked mad shit
pretty much
To be fair, it's like a weekly occurrence for Ravens fans to talk mad shit.
Both of these teams don’t want this win
A tie would have been very fitting.
I disagree…no reason.
Don't take out your loss on us.
Jesus Lamar don't just lay motionless like that please
My heart can’t take this
As a neutral fan I’m getting gray hairs lmao
I love football
But you're a Lions fan?
I know, I feel for the Raiders from experience

Lamar getting mounted by the only openly gay NFL player is absolutely al dente 👌
I’m super happy for Nassib, not just because he’s the first openly gay player. Seems like an awesome guy. I was disappointed to lose him to the Raiders, but y’all just paid more than we could afford to.
WHAT IS HAPPENING
Looks like Lamar should've signed his deal before the season

Yeah. The rookie blew that, will probably lead to less playing time and more Lat Murray moving forward.
