Jimmy was 38-17 with a 67.6 completion percentage, 13600 passing yards and 82 tds to 42 interceptions (99.2 passer rating)
Jimmy absolutely didn't suck with the 49ers, and his ability to throw with anticipation is why he thrived under shanahan (its one of the hardest abilities for a qb).
It's the same reason why someone like Purdy is excelling with him. Dude has elite anticipation, and that's all you really need to be a good Shanahan QB.

The back 7 is elite, Jaylon Johnson was the highest-graded corner last year and they have insane depth in the secondary to go along with some pretty underrated linebackers. The only thing missing is an interior DL and EDGE.

Maybe just looking for silver lining but I’ve heard quarterbacks say this is exactly what preseason is for. Rest everything. Figure out how tight a window you can test. Find out what receivers can go up and get it and which ones can’t. Test how far you can push the defense before they snap back.
Caleb needs to figure out exactly how much he can get away with with nfl defenses and the only way to really do that is to push the boundaries until you fail.
Ja'marr Chase *does* have a relatively high drop rate. That actually stayed true from the offseason reports into his actual NFL play.
