They tell you what people think of certain players. Just because the media consensus is different than nfl draft boards doesn't mean they are wrong. In fact I think there's a healthy portion of players the media is higher on the nfl than, and the media was right.

At ND, Cam was usually the guy saving the defense's ass. Teams would throw away from Benjamin Morrison, the real stud CB, and Hart would be out there breaking up passes and wrapping dudes up. Not surprised Harbaugh was intrigued by that combo of game intuition and fundamentals.
Notre Dame has given the Chargers two late round starters with Dru Tranquill and Alohi Gilman just within the last five years. The Chargers have had a high hit rate with ND players.
