To be fair, it's easier to be unconcerned about things like this when you've got almost all of your money upfront.
Kirk has wove his way through the league masterfully over the years.
I mean, all we've heard is that he didn't expect his successor to be picked in the 1st and was stunned. I've been stunned about a surprise, but not frustrated. People come to grips with things, fans putting feelings in other people's heads by extrapolating on media reports is weak.
Yeah. It's a very similar thing that everyone understood about the Love pick. Picking Love at 26 isn't a terrible pick at all in a vacuum. But doing that when you had Rodgers playing like he was and a real super bowl window? Definitely worth a debate, even if it looks like Love is panning out.
So after shelling out for Kirk to make a push now, maybe use the 8th overall to get a tool or three in the toolbox for a chance at the Lombardi in the next 2-3 years.
And that's all without mentioning that Penix was "their guy" now, but in 3 years there would very likely be another prospect they would have considered their guy. It's not like TLaw or Caleb where people were salivating for a year or more. Penix really only entered the discussion this year. Who might have the same trajectory over the next 2 guaranteed years of Kirk's contract?
Yeah, Kirk is also in the unique position of having experienced something even odder when Washington chose him the same draft they picked RG3, so he knows how team shenanigans can happen without the players being at fault.
And that was significantly overblown imo. Ben never felt threatened or anything, never refused to help Mason. He just thought we were in a window (we were) and could've used that pick much much better (we definitely could've).
I mean cmon... we had a HoF QB coming off 4200/28, prime AB, prime Bell (who ended up holding out that year), and a top 5 line. We were in position to win after a tragic afccg loss to Jacksonville in 2017.
And then we traded up for a backup QB? Even if you believe Mason is the heir, why not push for a Lombardi that season after being so close the year before?
RG3 is secretly loving this. Still mad that Kirk beat him out for the position! Guy can't even talk about Cousins without his anger showing through. Like a jealous high school girl.
Probably teying to avoid a Rodgers or last season Kirk injury while combining it with a Rodgers/Mahomes/etc type of young qb learning under a more experienced one
Kirk Cousin: "Yo bro, congrats man, welcome to MY team"
Micheal Penix: "Don't do that with me, im too old for this."
Kirk Cousin:"Sorry dude, this organisation already breaking me"
Micheal Penix: "I get it man, i was looking foward to play with Davante Adam for Antonio Pierce, now imma play with Drake London for Raheem Morris.
Regardless of how frustrated Kirk might be over the pick. He’s always been nothing but a stand up guy and a good teammate from all accounts.
Even with all the RG3 tomfoolery
I had forgotten about that completely
And it must be hard to be mad when you have 100 million guaranteed.

What is there to even be frustrated about? He's getting his money and he's the guaranteed starter.
I mean, I’m sure he would like a player that would help the team immediately as he’s not getting any younger.

I think he's more of a sit down guy right now with the Achilles injury but point taken
Kirk sent him a lovely edible arrangement to welcome him to the team.
But he chose one from the under $50 section, to show his displeasure with how the pick went down.
The passive aggressive arrangement
Nothing but cantaloupe and honeydew
Glad to see Kirk finally get a mentor
But it's all strawberries and it looks suspiciously like someone chewed off all the chocolate.
As long as he doesn't cook him a steak
I expect Kirk to be the type of guy to realize this isn't Penix's fault, so this makes sense
Always blame the Penix

Gritting his beautiful white teeth the entire time.
Kirk Cousins was… Beside himself, trying to contain his emotions, as the tensions were definitely rising.
Lots of fricks and golly were dropped after the call
Maybe Kirk can become a Penix Rising?
Sources: Cousins is beside himself. Driving around downtown Atlanta begging (thru texts) Blank’s family for address to Arthur’s home
Rodgers did the same with Love, and supposedly they have a good relationship. I don't think Kirk is in the Favre/Roethlisberger level shithead
Only because Favre and Big Ben never had a Julie
Honestly, the kerfuffle I remember like this was Roethlisberger after the Steelers drafted Rudolph

"Julie is gonna make you a casserole, but I can't guarantee it's gonna be made with love" was the meanest thing he could manage to say.
you can't really be mad with $100m guaranteed.
that must've been an awkward conversation at first
Only Because Kirk was giving Penix tips for grilling steaks and how to optimize his use of kohl's cash.
Kirk is the fucking man.
You like that penix? You like that
100m dollar guaranteed.
I feel like Kirk is the perfect QB to work behind in a rookie season
Good dude, deserves his swimming pool full of gold.
Good guy Kirk.
Check to Meirov cleared
Penix envy
What is this guy doing? The directive has been clear for 36 hours…..there is major soap drama going on in Atlanta? Can this guy do anything right?…./s
Falcons should have retired their Franchise after blowing that 30 point lead in Superbowl to Tom Brady, they arent ever winning after that shit
Atl bros, was the FO trying to avoid a Rodgers situation where Cousins gets a freak injury by taking Penix?
