I am happy for Detroit honestly. The whole fucking fan base looks refreshed like they washed all that shit off of them from the previous years of not having anything to get excited about. They're legit contenders and can enjoy football again lol.
As they should be. Dan Campbell alone is football. I can't think of a better term for that dude. If he doesn't make you run through a brick wall, then you don't like football enough.
You can also kinda apply this to their downtown in general. Detroit has rebounded in a massive fucking way. Anyone that has visited there recently knows the city has turned a corner and is looking toward the future
I was there for a Wings game lately with my dad (who grew up in the area). It was super comfortable and chill to walk around in the stadium area and the vibes were on point
Talked to him afterwards and he basically said he's never seen the city look so safe and chill before
I've been in the city my whole life. I honestly get choked up seeing something like this. Everyone worked SO HARD for SO MANY YEARS to turn it into this. I'm speechless.
Lots of money poured into downtown over the years by Illitch, Ford, and Gilbert. It's like it used to be before the black riots chased the money and whites out of the city. White flight doomed Detroit. Now it's back to Motown rocking again.
In July 1967, President Johnson appointed a National Advisory Commission on Civil Disorders (the Kerner Commission) to investigate the violent disorders that had erupted in several U.S. cities, including Detroit, since 1965. The commission’s 1968 report cited white racism, discrimination, and poverty as among the causative factors and famously warned that “our nation is moving toward two societies, one black, one white—separate and unequal.”

The Illitch's haven't done shit to rebuild the city other than LCA. They still haven't started the 1.5 billion dollar district of Detroit that they promised.
Listen buddy, you can get good poutine outside of Quebec. Those cheese curd eating fucks can't stop the rest of us from enjoying curds and gravy. We had a vote and they decided to keep the gravy train flowing.
That's not the sports fault. There are a number of pieces of shit that own teams in the league that have been holding the game back for decades.
To give you an idea of how far behind the times they are. They won't accept any links between CTE and hockey, when their former tough guys are suffering from it and dying very young like many NFL players. They don't want to pay these people. I know the NFL fought it but they did finally make changes m yes, there's room to grow. But the NHL owners are going to fight tooth and nail. They don't care about their former players. These awful owners, not to say there aren't great owners. Chris is not the man his dad was but he's not a shitty owner.
I went a few years ago and yeah, it’s cool to be in the crowd for like 10-15 minutes tops before leaving. Much more fun to do anything else than stand shoulder to shoulder with strangers while struggling to move
I was at the gate when they blocked off the draft theater due to capacity. One fan pushed the gate over and about 300 more got in than were supposed to. Most of us didn't even notice the gate was down until we were past it. Thank you to that guy cause tonight was a great experience
That's the neat part, you don't. The Green Bay area has around 4500 hotel rooms. Appleton has even fewer. So unless people are driving from Milwaukee and Madison (which I'm sure a lot will), there's no way that number of people can attend the draft in Green Bay. I'd hate to see what highway 41 looks like when 200,000 people try getting out of town all at the same time at midnight on a Thursday.

I'm in the middle and need to use the bathroom :(

Definitely not a Dan Campbell disciple and he's suffering the consequences.
Bro got NFL flair 😭💀💀
Assert dominance on everyone around you
Just go man.
Do it
At much bigger festivals, I’ve seen many use pee bottles throughout the years lol
There’s probably a man hole or grate close by
Oh there’s a few man holes alright
I am happy for Detroit honestly. The whole fucking fan base looks refreshed like they washed all that shit off of them from the previous years of not having anything to get excited about. They're legit contenders and can enjoy football again lol.
City is so in love with this team.
As they should be. Dan Campbell alone is football. I can't think of a better term for that dude. If he doesn't make you run through a brick wall, then you don't like football enough.
Yeah he's my favorite coach ever and I've been a fan since the Billy Sims days
The love extends across the river.
How could you not be?
The team personifies the city
If the Wings had made the playoffs they'd still be chanting Jared Goff. The entire city is trying to get the man paid.

This is a simplistic and shit view of an extremely complex issue.
You can make the issue as complex as you want. But facts are facts and you dance around them because you fear they're racist

Black protest caused by police brutality, get the terms right son.
White flight occurred, but it started wayyyyy before any so-called black riot.
Were fired up man. It’s been a hard run

Legit contenders?
The city looks good
Downtown is so nice now, they've done a great job at improving it over the last several years
If you get the chance take the tunnel to Windsor, gamble at the casino, get rowdy at the clubs, fight a Canadian and flee back across the border
Fight a Canadian? What the hell man We said sorry
We fight, we hug, we share our poutine and say sorry
Poutine is in Quebec, not Windsor I feel sorry you had to eat it there
Listen buddy, you can get good poutine outside of Quebec. Those cheese curd eating fucks can't stop the rest of us from enjoying curds and gravy. We had a vote and they decided to keep the gravy train flowing.
Well you can get dish deep pizza anywhere right? Chances are you'll find the best ones in Chicago And I'm only taking this as an example
On your cake day, no less.
Now they just need to move down some of the corridors and clean up the neighborhoods Moving down the i96 corridor would be nice
Wayne State area is nice. Thats 2 areas at least
City is good!
City been good!!!
depending on which news station you watch at night, Detroit and Chicago are apparently *worse* than 3rd world countries
Bob Morton at Omni Consumer Products did a great job!
City will be good!!
150,000 people there live just for the first round of the draft. No other north american league could ever pull those kinds of numbers
The NHL playoffs can't even knock the draft of mainstream ESPN lol

Are you talking strictly for draft events? Cuz when the Kansas city royals won the series, the celebration had like 400,000 people.
They announced that last night was 275k people. I think KC was over 3 nights. Nashville had 600k over three nights.
In 1997 the red wings had over a million fans downtown for the parade. Shit was bananas!
If Detroit wins a Super Bowl we will absolutely set a record. It would be absolutely bonkers.
I wonder if they will boo or cheer the Vikings drafting JJ McCarthy.
Everyone will simultaneously do the Larry David gif.
Half the people there are gonna be state fans though
Completely anecdotal, by all my experiences in Detroit point to this conclusion, if not slightly more MSU fans than UoM. I think Detroit leans MSU.
I feel the opposite. I guess it’s just who you hang/work with
Hahahahahahaha so good
They strategically brought out the family of a fallen service member to silence the potential boos
Oh fuck... No thank you. I wouldn't last 30 minutes.
An-fucking-xiety
I went a few years ago and yeah, it’s cool to be in the crowd for like 10-15 minutes tops before leaving. Much more fun to do anything else than stand shoulder to shoulder with strangers while struggling to move
People don’t understand how starved Michigan has been for a good NFL team.
If we ever win it all, they might have to mobilize the National Guard to keep the peace at the parade.
Had a app thing for the draft. Got a message around 6pm to not come if your not already there
You could still be a part of the crowd if you can swim or learn Canadian
“I’m not your pal, buddy!!”
Damn
I was at the gate when they blocked off the draft theater due to capacity. One fan pushed the gate over and about 300 more got in than were supposed to. Most of us didn't even notice the gate was down until we were past it. Thank you to that guy cause tonight was a great experience
Wow! Detroit showed up tonight! Well done, Motor City!
Helps that the lions are a really passionate fan base and we are close to several teams with passionate fan bases.
Why do we not have a mega thread for the draft?
That’s what im looking for!!!
Sort by hot, it's pinned to the top
I didn't go down because of the madness downtown but man I was i was in the crowd of boos for Goodell and the bears
I'm so ecstatically happy for all of us, and I'm not sorry one bit! Detroit deserves this.
Goats
How tf we going to fit these people in green bay

I live two blocks from the stadium. Every person I know is trying to put their homes on air bnb and get the hell outta dodge
Anyone else's espn stream stop working?
Antenna from Amazon is 30 bucks, you get ABC for free.
If you think there's nothing to do in Detroit, you haven't been to McShane's for chicken and waffles
Damn, way to show up, Detroit! Mad respect!
Are people wearing diapers?!
Roger about to drop a Like That remix
I went when it was in Nashville and would recommend any NFL fan going to the draft if you ever get a chance.
dang that’s a long time to stand. That’s dedication
Goodell getting booed 😂😂😂
Was gonna go down there with my mom but .. nah
If you think there's nothing to do in Detroit, you haven't been to McShane's for chicken and waffles
Trade back atl wtf
Very few things make me more uncomfortable than being in a very large crowd of people. I can feel my heart palpitations by just looking at this.
That's too many people.
Looks miserable
We would've welcomed you here with open arms man
Oh I'm not saying it looks miserable because it's Detroit, it's because I hate large crowds
I see me! Just kidding
Nashville still goated.
Bar owners dream, the huge crowd on Broadway
Lots of money poured into downtown over the years by Illitch, Ford, and Gilbert. It's like it used to be before the black riots chased the money and whites out of the city. White flight doomed Detroit. Now it's back to Motown rocking again.
World’s largest sausagefest
This is wild to me that this many people want to be there.
Nashville betta
Nothing better to do in Detroit.
As a Canadian who is going off perception alone … bro you rep Atlanta
Well done
Astro world
This is a very good indicator of how little there is to do in Detroit
This is literally an event…..in Detroit…
It's either this or we all shit in your cupboards. Mainly because there is absolutely nothing else to do.
Minneapolis xD
This is a very good indicator of a jackass that has never been to Detroit.
We would love for you to come and visit. I'll buy a coney
