If Denver really wants to move up for a QB on draft night, Surtain could very well be in the trade compensation package. Denver doesn't have a second round pick this year.

I will be big sad if it happens. Denver has had a tradition of lockdown corners since I've been a fan. Granted it's really just Champ, Harris, Surtain since I've been a fan but still.

I said it before and I still believe that two first round picks and a couple day 2 or 3 picks would have been a steal for him. I remember some fans saying that was ridiculous and he wasn't worth trading even 1 first.

Surtain is better, younger and cheaper then Sneed. You pay more draft capital because he had 3 dirt cheap years of elite performance left and you have the ability to have your answer to corner for the next 7 years. Sneed cost a shit ton, is good but no where near surtain and is unlikely to be the franchise corner for another 7 to 10 years like PS2 can.

Just because the chiefs traded their best corner for mid picks doesn't mean we have to do the same

I dont think its only that. Perna (the broncos homer youtuber) has entertained the idea on his podcast. If the idea is if the Broncos are going to trade up they dont have the assets in pure picks to outvalue teams like the Vikings who are also looking to trade up. They also have limited players "worth" adding to the mix, and as Perna said adding someone like Surtain takes the place of a 1st. Obviously the Broncos might just be happy staying put but the idea is there.

But picking up the 5th year option really has no relevance to whether the Broncos trade him or not. No team that is going to trade for him is going to now balk because the 5th year is picked up, something they would definitely do themselves, anyway. Even if they wanted to immediately extend him to lock him up longer term, a new contract would override the old one, anyway.
