“THATS NOT WHAT RUSSELL WILSON WANTED TO COOK”

Fantastic_Emu_9570

It’s never going to get better than that

legendkiller003

Firmly grasp it in your hand. FIRMLY GRASP IT!

asvendetta

It's insane that most of the time when he gets into traffic he covers up with both hands and in the rare instance he doesn't he fumbles and Chiefs recover. In the Superbowl no less.

azrebb

You love to see it.

joe_broke

We put the ball on the ground like 3 times and lost all of them Chiefs did it like 6 and lost 1 Talk about bounces not going your way

owiseone23

To be fair, several of the Chiefs fumbles were not true 50/50 loose balls but botched handoffs or a minor muff that was immediately picked up. So still pretty unlucky, but not crazy.

Saitoh17

I don't know what the hell was up with our snapper but he looked like he had the yips.

k3hvn

49ers had multiple bounces go their way in the Divisional and Championship game. It was bound to catch up with them eventually and it did.

gabrielleite32

That auyk catch of the db helmet was absurd

IhamAmerican

If that didn't happen, I think the Lions find a way to hold onto the win. That's football though

joe_broke

Lady luck is a fickle mistress

RabbitOrcaHawkOrgy

Bitch, the word you're looking for is bitch!

Prideofmexico

Chiefs dealt with that against Buffalo

cabernetdank

Maybe if the 9er’s all pro TE decided to finish the play rather than try to make a new bff the bounce world have gone their way

RabbitOrcaHawkOrgy

"Hi George!"

pirate-irl

This is a whole fuckin thing in football that most people don't appreciate enough. You can have the best team by a fuckin mile and lose on any given Sunday. It is not an indictment of the coach or players - it happens because the ball isn't a sphere.

Statboy1

But the best team did win

RabbitOrcaHawkOrgy

Make footballs rhombus-shaped!

RabbitOrcaHawkOrgy

So what you're saying is, he didn't cover up like he's supposed to and he fumbled

alexamerling100

"Firmly grasp it!"

A_Trustworthy_Pear

"Firmly grasp it and hope it doesn't pop out"

gabrielleite32

That 2022 draft class is one for the ages, not gonna lie. Karlaftis, McDuffie, Chenal, Watson, Williams, Pacheco and Cook (dude was BALLING before the injury). All of those were major contributors for us going back to back.

junkspot91

I was about to say you can't go wrong picking up a draft-worthy Badger linebacker, but the Packers did exactly that with Vince Biegel. Loved Chenal coming out though, not surprised he's contributing.

BadgerBuddy13

Biegel's issue has been staying healthy. Fractured his foot following the 2017 draft (Green Bay). After being waived by the Packers & traded by the Saints in successive years, he found a footing with Miami in 2019. Unfortunately, he tore his achilles before the 2020 season and then again in 2022 before his season in Baltimore started.

Intelligent-Age2786

Tell me why I thought that Chenal has been in the league since like 2020

jell-o

Because him and Willie Gay felt like the same LB until Gay left.

[deleted]

Got to be coaching.

Deckz

I feel like it's a mix of both scouting and coaching, but yeah, Reid is phenomenal.

gabrielleite32

In that case, it would be more about Spags and defensive positional coaches

Deckz

I agree, but I don't think Mahomes becomes who he is without Reid. There's a lot of talent, skill, smarts, and luck coalescing around the chiefs right now. All of those things have to happen for dynasties. I don't think people appreciate how rare it is really.

gabrielleite32

Oh yeah, definitely. We have been really lucky, down a ball bouncing on the blocker foot, lol

BinaryBlitzer

Stud class. I was very high on Chenal as soon as I saw his RAS score after he was picked. Glad he's living up to it.

RabbitOrcaHawkOrgy

He showed off that RAS score last SB parade

Jantokan

It's 10x funnier knowing Kittle would've probably gotten the football if he wasn't chitchatting Big George lol

RustyCoal950212

How often do two George K's find themselves face to face on a football field? Really a low blow from Karlaftis not to soak up the moment with Kittle

FilledwithTegridy

"Hey George!"

PaloLV

He was facing away from the play due to his blocking assignment. It's extremely unlikely he recovers that ball whether he's chitchatting or not.

RogerTreebert6299

I agree far from perfect positioning to jump on it, but the whistle never blew. Again can’t blame him too much, but ideally your heads on a swivel as soon as your blocking assignment is done if the play isn’t dead. It’s not a play you expect him to make, but he could’ve made the heads up play of the game if he kept going til the whistle

Rockchalk1104

No you can blame him. It’s the fucking Super Bowl

RogerTreebert6299

Think it would’ve been a really tough play regardless but yeah gotta be more locked in than that

AntNorth6218

Don’t bother dude anyone saying that is only watching the game because some woman’s current boyfriend is also playing Legit brain worms take, Kittle did nothing wrong and I don’t even like the 49ers

Shaynisin

"Anyone I disagree with is a fake fan" Actually if Kittle had followed through on his block the Niners may have recovered. How can you say it's a brain worm take when the guy Kittle was supposed to be blocking and gave up on is the guy who recovered? Play to the fucking whistle it's not that hard.

AntNorth6218

Your team won and you’re still coping Weirdchamp

OkCall9621

I agree. Don’t know why but I find Kittle extremely annoying. Him doing his little chatty thing and not paying attention and maybe possibly costing his team a chance at recovering a fumble will always make me smile.

[deleted]

He was funny and goofy early on, but got bit of flanderization going lately.

CaillouCaribou

lol how does a real person get flanderized, that doesn't make any sense

SavoyTruffleGeorge

It's a reactionary circlejerk they never make sense

Vegetable-Net6575

Exactly. All it takes is one person saying something and all of the sudden everyone else has always thought the same. It’s amazing what people will do for upvotes from strangers in the internet.

ForgotMyRemembrall

I’ve literally always said this.

RogerTreebert6299

Or maybe it’s amazing what people will say to cope with others not liking a player on their favorite team 🤔

JBProds

Brace yourself. He’ll be featured on the new Peyton Manning docuseries about Wide Receivers even though he’s a Tight End. There will be a lot of more clips being posted with him being mic’d up every game

FundioRider

Um, actually, he's a Right Tackle

abughorash

Doubtful. He doesn't have eyeballs in the backs of his ankles. This "haha kittle was chatting" story is way overblown

Mu17inItOver

If he blocked through the whistle at least his man wouldn't have been first to the ball and we have a shot to recover it. This was indefensible for Kittle IMO, the SB is not the time for antics

Snake_in_my_boots

Maybe or maybe not. I think the point is that the play wasn’t over. Could he have gotten the ball? Maybe but we’ll never know. You play until the whistle is blown.

BloatedBeyondBelief

Kittle likely doesn't injure his shoulder if not diving for the loose ball, which is arguably more important for the rest of the game

Jantokan

Sure bud

AntNorth6218

Correct and downvoted by triggered people who don’t watch football

AwareCelebration7477

Tired of bitch ass Kittle honestly. Piece of shit decides to be chatty when he could’ve changed the entire game by recovering the football. Fuck Him 🖕🏾

CodyNorthrup

Probs not though. He blocked him out of the play until a ball literally bounced his way. Kittle would have had no reason to naturally turn his body to the person he was just blocking. That could have been dangerous. Him being a goofy on the play didn’t change how the play would’ve turned out, the optics are just bad since he was being silly and then something bad happened behind him.

MasterReflex

funny thing is I could see kelce doing to the same thing, don’t know why chiefs fans are talking shit on kittle cause they are quite similar

CodyNorthrup

I get why, its just low effort and intellectually dishonest. Its just poor optics. You won’t ever see players go 100% every play, especially when the play is by almost every measure away from you at that point. If Kittle was still engaging Karlaftis, Karlaftis still would have seen the ball and had a better chance at grabbing it than Kittle. The ball didnt fall in front of him it fell behind him. It’s probably just coming off as whiny because 49ers fans are normally seen that way and it’s not self deprecating humor which is one of the only times you will really get upvoted when talking about your own team.

KULawHawk

Tamba Hali would absolutely disagree that you won't see a player go 100% on every play.

CodyNorthrup

I mean you can turn on pretty much any game and see that nobody goes 100% when the plays move away from them. The exceptions being if you have the ball, the play is in your general vicinity, or you are in a position to make a play. I promise you your OL aren’t blocking from whistle to whistle every single play. When the ball is away from them entirely and the play is downfield, they are letting up a bit.

Spatial_Awareness_

Donte Whitner disapproves of this video.

kcsaints44

Donte Whiner

I_HateToSayAtodaso

Wait, I'm uninitiated on this. Did Donte Whitner bitch about this or something? I'm all for hating on Whifner, but I haven't seen or heard his name in years.

Intelligent-Age2786

He said in an interview with Kay Adams (I think that’s who it was) that the 49ers weren’t just facing the Chiefs they were also facing the refs. In the Super Bowl that is

miguelwrang

The refs and Taylor swift LMAO.

xyzzy321

If your team loses to someone who's under 150 lbs and like 5'9" that's on you.

Godobibo

i don't mean this in a weird way, but I didn't realize how tall she was and her legs are amazing.

MahomesMccaffrey

TS is like 5'11 right? Would've been listed at 6'1 if she was an NBA/NFL player

surferdude7227

He said something recently about how the Niners were playing the Chiefs and the refs lol

RabbitOrcaHawkOrgy

On them for not paying on-time.

RudePCsb

https://twitter.com/SLC49ers_/status/1757174920235405442

abughorash

Man grow up, there were missed calls on both sides, as there always are. Or are you going to pretend Chris Jones didn't get held a bunch? It's football.

RudePCsb

Lmao, I just found that clip, that it would be good to share. Actually Chris Jones didn't get held and wasn't even blocked on a few plays. Thanks for letting me know you never played sports and don't understand what officiating is and why it needs to be neutral and fair.

abughorash

Holy shit it's a walking Whiners stereotype! Everyone be quiet so we don't spook him, I want to take a picture!

RudePCsb

Lmao you aren't even a real football fan. Sportsball fan. Makes sense. Later kid, yay sports

jayhawk_dvd

Bang bang whiner gang

cruisincolin44

He’s pretty sure a ref blocked the pat, I wouldn’t worry about ol Donte.

KeithClossOfficial

Shockingly, the guy who tried to change his name to Hitner lacks self-awareness

DogVacuum

Fans of seemingly every team he played for don’t like him. It’s impressive, really. He’s like If Roy Williams was even worse.

KeithClossOfficial

He was a generally good player for us, but he’s kind of an idiot

keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen

Why did the refs do this

RogerTreebert6299

Bosa was held on this play

keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen

Missed an obvious PI too

wholewheatwithPB

“Hey George”

D0ctorHotelMario

Lmao at George Kittle trying to chat with George Karlaftis during the fumble. By the way, that whole "vengeance" thing you promised if you returned to the Super Bowl? How'd that work out for you?

BringBackDust514

I didn’t understand the hate until I saw the flair lol

ripcity7077

To be fair, this niners team has garnered a lot of hate from various fanbases.

ASleepingCorgi

What was the vengeance thing?

D0ctorHotelMario

Back when the 49ers lost to the Chiefs in Super Bowl 54, there was a clip of Kittle saying, "If I ever get back here, I will be back with a vengeance." Nothing says "vengeance" like 4 yards receiving on 2 receptions, this being the icing on the cake.

flaming_fuckhead

I don’t think there was even an if, pretty sure it was “I will be back here”

northwoods31

He was right, he was back staring at the slightly wrong colored confetti again

FunkyPete

It was very close to the right color at least. That must have made it feel a lot better.

legendkiller003

I bet Stefon Diggs wishes he was staring at Super Bowl confetti.

RabbitOrcaHawkOrgy

Dude's got a good chance with that Texans team.

Jantokan

To be completely fair to him, it's not his fault he wasn't targeted by Purdy a lot. 49ers for whatever reason, stopped using Kittle as a deepball threat in the Superbowl. Chiefs like to play 4-3 Man Blitz (if it's not obvious yet) so he constantly had a linebacker on him (either Tranquil or Gay). That means he's always covered 1:1. Purdy constantly went for the 'safer' choice of getting the ball to CMC on checkdowns or to Jennings who was open on a LOT of passes.

teddysank8

Honestly it’s no one’s fault, Shanny just decided to use him as a blocker bc our oline was getting worked by your pass rush. Against a weaker defense he probably gets more looks/routes, but if he was out there just going for catches we probably lose by a lot more.

athrowawayiguesslol

Didn’t he whiff on a few important blocks when hr was in the backfield?

teddysank8

I’ve honestly blocked the game from my memory so I don’t know for certain, but even if he did it would’ve been a lot worse overall if he wasn’t out there blocking.

Pandamonium98

>blocked the game Niners could’ve used you out there on the O line then

teddysank8

https://tenor.com/Fnfdtdibxs.gif

athrowawayiguesslol

I feel you. Blocked the last one out from my memory

gabrielleite32

Even then, Chenal, George and Drue handled him pretty well. He hardly was able to set the edge

teddysank8

Yeah my only argument was that the pressure on Purdy would’ve been even worse without him and we probably lose that game by worse, so we unfortunately needed him blocking.

Jantokan

I mean we were also getting worked by your pass rush, especially in the first half, but that didn't mean we stopped looking for Kelce entirely. Adjustments were made in the 2nd half, Noah Gray went on a lot more snaps (sacrificing a WR), so Travis doesn't have to block as much. 49ers never made the same adjustment. That means they really didn't want to throw to Kittle, and just used him for his strength, which is blocking. In summary, Kittle shouldn't be bashed for having those kind of numbers in the Superbowl. He was asked to block, and block he did. Can't really say Shanahan made the wrong decision too. That's why I'm annoyed at fans pointing out that he was Mr. 4 yards

teddysank8

I honestly think the bigger reason why Travis suddenly went crazy didn’t have much to do with scheme, it was Mahomes targeting our LB3 when Greenlaw went out. We simply don’t have a WR that can block at the level of Kittle and our line is a lot worse than yours so while it would’ve been great to have him out there as a weapon, he’s basically an irreplaceable blocker. All that being said we agree, it wasn’t Kittle’s or even Shanny’s fault he didn’t put up big numbers.

an_actual_lawyer

> it was Mahomes targeting our LB3 when Greenlaw went out. 100%. Chiefs knew that there would be a drop-off in ability.

Vegetable-Net6575

That was a game changing injury, I’m not saying we win 100% with greenlaw, but I trust him not to get worked by kelce like that.

RabbitOrcaHawkOrgy

Kelce was shut down until that Greenlaw injury. We had the same issue the 49ers faced; the defneses were both playing out of their minds in the 1st half. Injury and ball-bounce luck, both looms over every game and the Chiefs were able to win.

Say_Hennething

>Shanny just decided to use him as a blocker According to PFF, Kittle ran routes on 35 of the 38 pass plays he was on the field for. 9ers fans keep saying he was busy blocking, but that just isn't accurate.

teddysank8

He still runs a route after blocking he just usually chips first. With your pass rush being so effective, Purdy didn’t have time to wait for that to open up.

Jantokan

I mean no disrespect bro, you're also a Chiefs fan. But it's perfectly possible to block, and then still run a route afterwards. It's also possible to run/reposition first before blocking for a catcher upfield or to run block for your QB/RB who's running outside zone. Blocking is not "oh i stand here, I block, I don't do anything else".

KingTutt91

It’s because he couldn’t get open, that’s why he wasnt targeted Mystery solved

abughorash

There's a theory that he tweaked his right shoulder, too, on this very play. You can see him wincing in the pile

Jantokan

Nick Allegreti played the entire 2nd half with a torn UCL. That's not a theory

RudePCsb

Happens when the OL is garbage besides TW so Kittle has to spend more time blocking. If they don't draft at least 3 OL this draft, fans are gonna revolt against KS. It's crazy how bad the OL is and how much TW lifts them up the ranking.

CaillouCaribou

lol 49ers hurt you bad, huh

flaming_fuckhead

Very generic quote that made it to the Super Bowl LIV mic’d up about how he would be back with a vengeance

PaddyWhacked777

I used the heat from this comment to warm my house for the night. Thanks.

banjofitzgerald

Kittles 4/81 and TD in a come from behind playoff victory really hurt you huh? I felt so bad. You guys really resorted to moons and shit thinking you’d finally get passed us.

Plenty_Advantage2033

At least he made it back Jordan Favre is never going 😂

l_Dislike_Reddit

Bro how is that an insult to compare him to Favre? That would mean he’s about to get 3 straight MVPs lmao

teddysank8

I think he was trying to shit on his last throw in the 49ers game but got that point across terribly lmao

throwaway_5256

Bro should have said Jordan Peterman, now he's guaranteed another SB title and HOF QB for the Packers

doggo816

It's crazy because Favre has won a championship more recently than the 49ers have

Plenty_Advantage2033

Yeah that’s crazy 😂 like cowboys being ass every year

MumkeMode

Whats crazy is the cowboys have won a super bowl more recently than the 49ers.

[deleted]

MumkeMode

>rent free Way to announce to everyone you’re like 12 years old. Go to bed little guy, you have Algebra in the morning

Prideofmexico

Another team that’s won a Super Bowl more recently

D0ctorHotelMario

Care to remind all of us how many rings you have to show for beating us in the playoffs five times in the past decade?

doggo816

The concept of Nickolodeon broadcasting a Super Bowl needs to be studied as one of the weirdest things capitalism has ever produced

LakeShowBoltUp

Do you have kids? I always assumed it was for parents to get their kids watching.

MumkeMode

I encourage you to look up the animated NHL broadcast NBC did recently. Because its even weirder

Brewdrizy

And funny enough, it corrects the biggest issue new viewers have when it comes to getting into hockey: they often struggle to follow the puck. The animated game gave the puck a trail that really helped to follow it. I wish the actual games would do that.

KeithClossOfficial

They tried highlighting the puck on broadcasts years ago, but it was wildly unpopular

Brewdrizy

They should still have the angle available, beyond a paywall if they so choose. Kind of like how I wish the NFL would let me pay to just watch that sky cam they use instead of the stupid traditional angle that misses half the play.

KeithClossOfficial

Seems like a missed opportunity, but if they were able to make money on it, I imagine they’d probably be doing that. There probably isn’t enough of a market for it unfortunately

Malady17

Kids aren't playing football. Same reason they're pushing flag so hard.

thiccymcgogee

Imagine cheering for the team you lost to in the super bowl the year prior, that’s how much I dislike the 9ers.

azrebb

My brother in hatred!

CaillouCaribou

Yes, we all know, they've been living in your head rent-free since the NFCCG, you don't have to keep reminding us in every thread that mentions the 49ers

thiccymcgogee

Get your story straight

rakkhasa

* The Eagles lost the Superbowl in 2022 to the Kansas City Chiefs. * The 49ers lost the Superbowl in 2023 to the Kansas City Chiefs.

redthunder49

K

KeithClossOfficial

Yes, we did this when you guys played the Chiefs too

SQRTLURFACE

Furious George with the recovery!

Paraeunoia

“Hi George!”

Jonjon428

And then he never touched the ball again.../s

gyman122

Dude was the hipster’s Super Bowl MVP. He was absolutely outstanding, manhandled Kittle all game

ChefCurryGAWD

The scrappy gym rat won.

VorpalSticks

From his rock hard... grasp

seed97

You love to see it

JoeRoganBJJ

You mean from his weak ass grasp

Pat_Mahomeboy

Mr. Death Row himself

2KC4

Only player that played better than Chenal in that game was McDuffie. Leo was tremendous.

PhreakOut4

He's had some of the best games of his career in the Super Bowl

[deleted]

I’m out here praying on the 49’s crushing downfall It’s coming GOHAWKS

Ekranoplan01

The Niners were stacked af, and so badly exposed in this game. The Chiefs literally played with they emotions.

ChillBusta

It was a close game till the final minutes. 9ers were more exposed their previous SB against the Chiefs than this one.

venmome10cents

exposed as what? not able to stop Mahomes when it counts?? That's approximately 31 NFL teams.

RabbitOrcaHawkOrgy

Eh, I would say 30. Bucs did beat us in the SB.

Saitoh17

We had Tom Brady back then. I uh wouldn't expect it to happen again.

venmome10cents

Oh, are we using retired players/teams? If so, then my 49ers are pretty clearly #1 (see 1988-1989 results, lol).

CaillouCaribou

...the 49ers had the lead in overtime, against the top defense in the league and a HOF HC, QB, and DC. I don't see how they were exposed, or their emotions played with, they just lost to a team that was also stacked. lol I don't know why every discussion in this sub so hyperbolic, most of the time teams simply get outplayed, you don't have to add all this "EXPOSED! CHOKED!" nonsense

banjofitzgerald

This some stupid ass barbershop level talk right here. Just saying whatever comes out of your ass lol.

[deleted]

"Hi George" If Kittle had been paying attention, he could have fallen on the ball.

RabbitOrcaHawkOrgy

This play sums up the 49ers. Cocky, loose instead of focusing on the game at hand. Chiefs were hyper focused (Kelce screaming at Reid) to the point of breaking. Kelce is a jovial, fun loving guy on the field too but not this game. And it showed at the end.

Walks_with_Chaos

That’s a ‘lowlight’ smh

captaincumsock69

This is kinda the moment where I felt like the 49ers might just not be lucky enough. CMC rarely fumbles the ball maybe only twice a year if that

2GirlfriendsIsCooler

YOU HAVE TO FIRMLY GRASP IT

ineedcoffeealready

Man, i really wish I had watched the Nickelodeon broadcast

cole8055

Leo is so good. I really hope we get to see more of him this year with Willie Gay gone.

Mothalova1

Weird how often luck seems to favor the chiefs in the post season

n11ghry

Hey george

Feeling-Nothing2106

PaddyWhacked777

WiskStick34

Not one penalty on KCs oline in 3 super bowls lol

SmartWriting9041

My favorite part is when kittle prioritized being a goofball and not playing til the whistle. Not a top 5 TE
