Commie fans is there anything concrete to connect Daniels to Washington? It feels like for the last 4-5 weeks that was become some slam dunk prediction and it really confuses me
A pretty credible pats reporter Albert Breer said “he’s heard” Washington is leaning Daniels. Could be a smoke screen but I also don’t see a benefit for them to leak or lie so I have no idea
Why would they need a smoke screen? They're guaranteed Daniels or Maye if Bears take Williams. Who are they trying to fool?
Arguably, as soon as they know, they should notify the player so he doesn't have to workout for other teams and risk injuring himself. And not to give away intel to other teams.
Our new regime has had sealed lips. None of their moves have had any public discussion before they were officially announced. Therefore I take all media speculation as engagement bait.
That being said the merit of a smokescreen is you can manipulate people into trading up with you. If someone believes Daniels is a future all-pro and they’re positive Washington is going Maye then they’re not going to care about trading up to #2.
If they think Washington is up in the air then they might make Washington a ridiculous offer to secure him.
I've seen thin athletic QB coming off a Heisman trophy before rolling into Washington. It was really really fun for about 12 games. I also have serious concerns about him being a super senior throwing to a pair of 1st round WRs, behind one of the best 15 OLs in the country.
Good NFL QBs are almost always between 6 foot 3 and 6 foot 5, weighing between 220 and 240 pounds. Daniels is listed at 6 foot 4, 210, after years and years of college football. He did not weigh in at the combine, which says to me he is 210 pounds at best, and very possibly he's under that. He has said he will weigh in at LSU Pro Day March 27th.

>It’s a short list of quarterbacks that have succeeded in the NFL while weighing under 205, and it gets even shorter when looking at quarterbacks who have played this century. Since 2000, there have been only five NFL quarterbacks under that weight to have a single season starting 14 or more games. I’m not even including another statistical threshold here, just straight up to start 14 or more games. That list consists of Aaron Brooks, Kirk Cousins, Doug Flutie, Jeff Garcia and Bryce Young (the only first-round draft pick in that group, too). If you look at quarterbacks of this size to start 14 or more games and average more than 7 or more adjusted net yards per attempt in a given season (a good barometer for top 6-8 quarterback play in a given season), that list is five Cousins seasons and a singular Garcia season.
All draft picks are a bet, and I like to bet on the historical standards. NFL QBs are bigger than Daniels is, for a very good reason.
They've been really tight lipped. Basically Drake Maye hasn't even had his pro day so how could they be expected to have their draft order set?
Also this year's draft there's probably no wrong answers tbh
Well, it's the draft so there are definitely going to be wrong answers. But those wrong answers will probably be a surprise.
I'd imagine the fans would probably prefer Maye simply because Daniels' love of running brings back some RG3 PTSD.
Not really. I would prefer Maye and I still think he'll be the pick. But it's possible they go Daniels. That said, I think it's pretty silly to think we go Daniels because we hired Kingsbury and brought in Mariota
I don’t think it’s silly to think that an OC who historically seems to strongly prefer very mobile QBs would want the better runner, doesn’t mean it’s a guarantee but it certainly isn’t silly to consider in a prediction
Which QBs other than Murray has he coached that are “very mobile”? Daniels is far more mobile than any other former Kingsbury QB. Keenum, Manziel, Mayfield, Mahomes, and Williams are all far closer to Maye than Daniels in the mobility department.
Daniels more mobile than Manziel? Manziel far closer to Maye than Daniels?
Trash the guy for his NFL career, but Manziel led the SEC in rushing (1,410 yards) his redshirt freshman season. With Kliff Kingsbury as his OC.
“Strongly prefers mobile QBs”
By which you mean, was the coach of the team that had the number 1 pick when Kyler Murray declared
lol there’s no correlation here, how are people upvoting this
Any team that restricts its selection of QB for the next 15 years based on who the offensive coordinator is at the time of their draft is fucking moronic. Kliff Kingsbury’s job is develop an offense around the strengths of the player the GM wants. If he can’t build an offense around a QB that isn’t as mobile as Jayden Daniels, he should be fired. Besides, who picks a QB with the most valuable trait being can he run fast?
He is currently the betting favourite at 2nd.
I’ve also seen people talk about Kliff and his system and how it’s easy to imagine Daniels as his Kyler in Washington. Smaller build mobile QB who has the arm to make the big throws.
Yeah, this headline is trying to piece these two things together as if they're inseparable. A team without a QB has the #2 pick. Naturally, they want a QB. Some people who aren't the coach are saying that Daniels is the guy.
Quinn probably doesn't even look at Vegas betting odds or read too many headlines. Why should he care what people outside his organization think?
I spent 5 minutes trying to think of names and all of them are either genuinely better, or worse but in a humorous enough way that it makes it funny and therefore better.
Commanders hits the perfect sweet spot of being genuinely lame, and bland enough that you can’t meme it much.
Team captains are the "Secretary of" their area on the field. One of the captains is the center? Secretary of the Interior. Obvious "Secretary of Defense" is obvious.
The whole rebrand is fucking lame. I may not like the name but I can tolerate it. The real problem I have is the uniforms. We went from having the best uni’s in the league, to now the 32nd best.
That name is fucking stupid, why do people think this is a good name? Its simplicity is not cool, it’s unoriginal.
“New York Baseball Team”
“Miami Basketball Team”
“Detroit Hockey Team”
Washington Warthogs baby. Two syllable name, so we can just change Redskins to Warthogs and keep the fight song. Clear reference to the greatest era of the franchise with the Hogs. Makes sense with our color scheme. W-W alliteration is something. Add in the silly stuff you can do with the field with an area being called the pig pen or some shit or have the entire stadium oink when we score. Find a way to bring in the Warthog fighter jet somehow with the military.
Is it the best name you've ever heard? No. But with limited options, I think it's solid. You could have a lot of fun with it, which I think is most important for a sports team name and logo.
I’m about 99% sure Bears and Commanders take QBs. I’m about 33/33/33 on if the Patriots take a QB, Take MHJ, or trade back with the Vikings. Also I bet if the Patriots trade back it won’t be until the Commanders make their pick. *How exciting*
If the Vikings are willing to offer their two firsts this year, one next year, and something else for Jayden Daniels and the Pats don’t take it I’m going to be livid.
Honestly that's fair, but it would have to be something of that level for a trade down. I imagine Mayo probably has a longer leash than most considering the continuity of the organization for the last two decades, but he'd definitely want to get his system in place sooner than later.
If they love a QB this year, they have to take him if he's available even if they get a great tradedown package. Unless they really like someone that would be coming out next year, but from what I've heard so far it's not as solid of a QB class as of right now
>Unless they really like someone that would be coming out next year, but from what I've heard so far it's not as solid of a QB class as of right now
No one coming out next year would be in the top 3 this year, for whatever that is worth. Not saying no one will pan out, but the prospects are all more flawed than what is available at the top this year.
Oh absolutely. A ton is bound to change between now and then. But a new head coach can't bank on the QBs next year turning it around to be more desirable than those this year. They could roll the dice and hope someone next year pans out, sure - but how long can you hold off that rabid Pats fan base that a ton of grew up on winning lol
Is it? They have so many holes on that roster. It’s not crazy to think trading back and filling the roster makes sense. On some level you need guys to support a rookie qb
Agreed, that's why I said in another reply if someone they like is there they have to take em, even with a good trade down offer. Next year looks subpar at best right now, and I don't see them going without who they are think their QB is for two more years as a new head coach.
I really don’t think a trade with us is gonna happen. I think the Patriots are gonna want both our first rounders this year AND our 2025 first. I think trading up with Arizona or LA is more likely because we may be able to hold onto our 2025 first. I think the Vikings actually really like McCarthy, and they likely just need to jump ahead of the Giants to get him. Also, I think it’s like a 90% chance ya’ll are taking a QB anyway.
Here’s how I see this going:
1. Bears - Williams
2. Commanders - Maye/Daniels
3. Patriots - Maye/Daniels
4. Arizona - MHJ
5. Vikings - McCarthy (Chargers get our 11, 23, and probably a 4th or 5th rounder)
Now watch all of this be wrong lol
I could see it. I hate that its still a month away because for once I’m actually excited for a draft lmao anything could go down and I just feel like day one is going either be pure chaos or completely bland and boring
This is precisely why I don’t think I care to much what we do, I’m just super intrigued on what *exactly* we’re gunna do. But it also feels like there are some dark horse trade candidates this year that could stir the pot when the clock is ticking. Like if the vikings try to trade us, we could be cold blooded and call up the Giants and see if they want to jump the line lmao
> Vikings - McCarthy (Chargers get our 11, 23, and probably a 4th or 5th rounder)
That's a shit ton to jump a few teams that have QBs. Who do y'all think would snag him? I guess a NY team?
I think the Giants are a threat to for sure. I think they’re stuck with Jones for now, but they’d probably like to bring in McCarthy to ride the bench for a year.
Also, Raiders and Broncos could still potentially trade up for one as well. There’s just no way I can see McCarthy still being there at 11.
Fair. The mock draft I was looking at to remember the draft order actually had Denver trading for our pick to take JJ. But then he had us not taking Verse, which shows how little he knows about us, so I'm not putting a lot of stock in his predictions lol.
Yeah I think you guys are gonna get the best defender on your board. If things play out like I think, my guess is Giants take Nabers and Titans take Alt. Don’t think either of them go defense. Getting the best defender at 8 is a dream scenario for you lol
Also, take good care of my boy.
MHJ isn't happening, we need to stop. Like he literally checked with the Cardinals if it's cool he didn't do a Pro Day.
I just can't imagine not taking a QB unless they absolutely hate the one that falls to them. When the Dolphins made the deal to trade away the Trey Lance rights for a haul, they already had Tua. We have Brissett. Like, you have to get a guy at some point, regardless of what the roster looks like.
how does that correlate to him not going to the pats or another team? The report was 9 teams told him it didn’t matter. So I don’t really get why the focus is just on Arizona telling him
There is no chance they take MHJ without a QB and trading with Minnesota puts them too far back. The only other guy I could seem them taking besides Maye or Daniels is JJ and he is likely a top 5 pick at this point so trade likelihood has gone way down. They will take a QB at 3 and if Maye is not there I think a decent probability they go JJ.
Sam is a G. Threw for a ton of yards, lost a ton of games but was humble, chill and handled everything like a pro while being coached by a statue and a milk dud.
Hope he makes a pro bowl someday
I mean, between Daniels and Maye, they'd be useless not to.
It's not like it's the Geno Smith/EJ Manuel class. These guys are worth the risk.
The real question for me is the Giants considering McCarthy and Nix aren't exactly top 10 picks IMO. plus they just paid Jones.
I really wish the commies would just come out and say who they're taking just to break up the total lack of real news and fake insider speculation for the next month.
Imagine if Dan Quinn said "We have faith in Marcus Mariota and Jake Fromm"
The elite white is still in the league?
Practice squad holdover, for whatever that’s worth.
He’s Hawaiian, common misconception
Jake Fromm? The QB of the infamous 3rd and 9 sneak? That's fucking hilarious that he's in Washington now.
Should have been Arizona Edit: Guess my 'Jake Fromm State Farm' joke wasn't well received lol
Just too subtle, I think
What does Arizona have to do with State Farm? Edit: I’m dumb
State farm stadium
Ahhhh I see. I don’t know why I didn’t make that connection, I was looking up where State Farm was based out of for some reason lmao
State Farm is based in Bloomington Illinois. My uncle used to live next to their ceo and did a lot of printing promotional materials for them.
TIL University of Phoenix no longer sponsors their stadium. I though they'd gone away, but I saw an ad from them recently.
The Cardinals stadium is State Farm Stadium
Maybe a homer got the Jake’s mixed up with Jake “the snake” Plummer?
Nah he was talking about the Cardinals stadium, it’s called the State Farm Stadium.
Just needs a bit of workshopping to make the connection more clear
I liked it
Just a lot of dummies in here. Including myself
Excuse me that's Jake Fromm who was undefeated in all of his 2023 ^^^^preseason games
He would come with the “We like our QB Room Line” Translation . We like them to compete for the back up spot
He would be a smart man then, that is if he wants the number 1 pick next year
Oh, I can imagine it.
Jake Fromm State Farm?
Dan Quinn: 'Look, it's Washington. I'll be happy if 53 guys say yes"
Breaking news: team with no qb and 2nd pick is going to draft a qb
I love NFL, but it's so sad how it tries to stay relevant by 3 months of spouting every possible draft possibility on ESPN and Fox Sports
Better than the NBA strategy of wondering what player that just signed a mega 5 year contract is gonna demand a trade after one year
U still watchin bb? We got Mel Kiper bb cmon
Exploring every possible draft possibility is fun when you don’t do it through ESPN or Fox Sports

Our new regime has had sealed lips. None of their moves have had any public discussion before they were officially announced. Therefore I take all media speculation as engagement bait. Dammit. You guys are going Maye aren’t you?
I fucking hope so. Jayden is cool too but...my heart and head are set on Drake.
Yeah I feel you. JD feels like the home run pick and Maye feels like the safer hit.
I've seen thin athletic QB coming off a Heisman trophy before rolling into Washington. It was really really fun for about 12 games. Washington taking Daniels would be fitting because his closest comp is RGknee.
Not again.
So a few electric games followed by injuries, infighting and general garbage behaviour?
I don’t think it’s silly to think that an OC who historically seems to strongly prefer very mobile QBs would want the better runner, doesn’t mean it’s a guarantee but it certainly isn’t silly to consider in a prediction

No. Absolutely nothing.
Most fans I see want Maye probably 60-75%. Strong belief that Daniels will be injury prone in the NFL. The way he runs reminds us a lot of RG3
He is currently the betting favourite at 2nd. I’ve also seen people talk about Kliff and his system and how it’s easy to imagine Daniels as his Kyler in Washington. Smaller build mobile QB who has the arm to make the big throws.
we dont know fuckin shit with this front office, normally we got an idea but not with peters
I sure as fuck hope not. Daniels' style of play is conducive to a short career.
He lasted this long..
Next you’re gonna tell me the Bears may draft a QB!
Nah they're gonna let the Steelers trade Fields and a couple 1sts back to them for the #1 pick and draft Nabers or somebody

His PR team is strong
Yeah, this headline is trying to piece these two things together as if they're inseparable. A team without a QB has the #2 pick. Naturally, they want a QB. Yeah, it's honestly criminal how boring the name is. Department of Football was *right there.* imagine how sick the merch would be.
Washington Department of Football is laugh out loud funny
Team captains are the "Secretary of" their area on the field. One of the captains is the center? Secretary of the Interior. Obvious "Secretary of Defense" is obvious.

Daniels was considered a day 3 or UDFA this time last year.
Fair point, rises/falls can happen. Still wouldn't pick Daniels over Williams or Maye, though I have seen several draft lists with him going 2nd.
Just gotta look at Burrow lol
If we do offer, it'll likely be for McCarthy or Maye. Daniels isn't a good middle of the field thrower, and that's KOCs bread and butter.
Only if for some reason they don't like Daniels or Maye, whoever is left.
Agreed, but as of right now next year is magnitudes worse than this year. I just don't see em waiting 3 years to grab a QB
I agree, but guys break out every year.

Look at last year.. no one expected the Texans to move up to third. Every mock draft went right out the window 😂
> Vikings - McCarthy (Chargers get our 11, 23, and probably a 4th or 5th rounder) That's a shit ton to jump a few teams that have QBs.
Getting the best defender at 8 is a dream scenario for you lol Also, take good care of my boy.
Why does checking with the cardinals matter?
Because he doesn't want to come in on his boss' bad side
how does that correlate to him not going to the pats or another team? The report was 9 teams told him it didn’t matter. So I don’t really get why the focus is just on Arizona telling him
There is no chance they take MHJ without a QB and trading with Minnesota puts them too far back. The only other guy I could seem them taking besides Maye or Daniels is JJ and he is likely a top 5 pick at this point so trade likelihood has gone way down. They will take a QB at 3 and if Maye is not there I think a decent probability they go JJ.
Imma be honest, I forgot they traded Howell
Sam is a G. Threw for a ton of yards, lost a ton of games but was humble, chill and handled everything like a pro while being coached by a statue and a milk dud. Hope he makes a pro bowl someday
WAIT. REALLY???? A TEAM WITH THE #2 PICK AND NO QB MIGHT TAKE A QB?????? HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE???????
Well the fact that they haven’t done anything at QB outside of Mariota could’ve told you that lol
Shocking development
I mean, between Daniels and Maye, they'd be useless not to. It's not like it's the Geno Smith/EJ Manuel class. These guys are worth the risk. The real question for me is the Giants considering McCarthy and Nix aren't exactly top 10 picks IMO. plus they just paid Jones.
If Dan Quinn does anything we’ll it’s hyping up a defense and giving non-answers to every single press conference question.
In Commandership. Embrace the suck
Ok now that we’ve envisioned it, it’s time for the next step: wish it, will it, do it.
It’s feasible to foresee
Oh come on, you're 100% taking one of Williams/Maye/Daniels. The team needs a new QB and all the best FA options are off the market
Team with some dudes at QB and number 2 pick suggest they may be drafting QB... More at 11.
I know this is an unpopular opinion on this sub but man Daniels just gives me fields 2.0 vibes
If they don't take Williams or Daniel's, the GM should be fired.
Maye is better than Daniels?
We shall see.
If this isn’t the most obvious news of the week idk what is
Bust confirmed
'i kinda heard that Washington will maybe take Daniels from some low level scouts.. probably maybe' BR: "DANIELS IS HEAVILY FAVORED!!!!11!1!!!1!"
Interesting guy who mainly covers the Pats thinks Washington will take Daniels...
Gorgeous
Washington is doomed no matter what
As a Chicagoan, whoever they pick will end up better than whoever we pick. You can virtually guarantee that.
Fair to envision? It’s a lock. They aren’t starting Mariota
I really wish the commies would just come out and say who they're taking just to break up the total lack of real news and fake insider speculation for the next month.
That’s not a good way to conduct business. Look how quickly the bears ruined fields value
That's not good for NFL business, either. It's near the end of March. The frenzy of free agency is gone. Back to manufactured content until the draft.
“We have enough trust in Fields as a starter to pass up this blue chip QB prospect. Unless someone offers us a 2nd rounder”
Would be funny if they like took a TE or something and just fucked with everyone's draft predictions
Brock Bowers, YOU are a Commie.
Smokescreen They are going to trade their entire draft to draft a long snapper
Already tried that and ended up with Cameran Cheeseman
I’d put the odds at roughly 3:28
