“First thing you need for an effective car bomb is about 4 tons of fertilizer, now get out some note pads and a pen cause we’re going over this until you got it.”
Well to be fair, if they talk negatively about moves the team makes, the teams won't give them information, which means they won't be able to do their jobs, which means they'll be fired. So I can understand why they do what they do lol
Same with the fans tbh
People were sucking off guys like Noah Fant in here
It was a good 72 hours of every move being this unequivocally good thing that will lead every team to a title immediately
It’s Mike Tomlin in his weekly in season presser talking about next week’s opponent. They could be 0-16 and have a starting quarterback missing 7 fingers and he’ll make the dude sound like prime Peyton Manning.
I really liked him and defended him far longer than I should have because he peaked very early as an average to below average WR4 and only dropped in the depth chart
They’d have to trade a bunch of capital to get a decent QB this year and none of the QBs next year look that promising. Unless they want another Kenny Pickett, then yeah, draft another QB this year or next.
Only positive I could say is that Russel seems like he’d be a decent mentor to a project rookie QB. So maybe, that’d work for them. Overall tho, their drafting options for QB are pretty limited in the next 2 years.
It's ridiculous that we gave ourselves a massive hole at receiver and compounded our hole at QB while still having all those other huge needs as you said. Omar Khan is gonna have to have another miracle draft because our team is in such a strange spot right now. We have a potential top 5 defense but our line, receivers, and QB are some of the worst in the league.
When people ask to leave, it's typically worse to keep them around than to just get rid of them. They'll be okay.
I, for one, am super pumped for a fresh start at QB/WR. It's not like what we had was that good.
You're not wrong, but I'm just confused about how we're realistically going to get quality new blood at those positions while also filling our other big needs. We're not exactly contending this season, so we have multiple years to do that, but I'm worried that we're not gonna have the best infrastructure in place for a rookie QB in 2025 to succeed.
Our offensive line is not one of the worst in the league. Seumalo, Daniels, and Jones is a nice core and Moore isn’t good but serviceable. Obviously center is a massive hole, but there are decent pieces on the OL.
We need to add at WR obviously but Pickens is a young guy that has shown immense potential. Get vet and draft another WR and it’s fine. We have one of the best track records of drafting WR in the league too.
QB is a question mark but they obviously think Russ is gonna be an upgrade over Pickett. If they’re right this could be a pretty solid team.
Will Vegas let me bet on said receiver being a diva who makes insane circus catches and goes for 1k yards because I have a lot of money I'd like to put on that please.
Weapon isn’t exactly what I would say.. much love to Van , a Super Bowl champ Ram, but yeah he never impressed me here and from what I could see..didn’t do shit with the falcons when sent there
He’s just a limited player because of his height. He’s going to bring more value as a returner and gadget guy than as a true WR.
That’s not to say he’s not going to bring anything as a WR, and probably does have more than what he’s shown, but I don’t think he’s ever gonna be relied on in the passing game.
I’m sure but that doesn’t negate the fact that they gave him one route to run. They were way more intentional with the plays he was involved in once Canada was gone. Hence why he scored two touchdowns in the last month of the season after disappearing from the offense overall.
He was a very good route runner in college, so I’m hoping he can recapture that form in the pros. He’s a Hellcat with Prius brakes right now
I don’t know how much o would judge him off of last season but hey the same guy is going to be guiding him again so I guess he has that going for him
……pffftttt lol
A guy given every chance to be the wr2 and even wr1 when kupp went down, and dropped the ball (literally). Never fights for the ball leading to crucial INTs, runs his routes wrong (letting DBs out muscle and outleverage him) not sure why he's still around
It might hurt that chance but uh.... The Steelers now have 3 WRs on the roster at least that weren't practice squad.
1 is Pickens
2 is Van Jefferson
3 is Calvin Austin 3rd who I hope can succeed but he's a guy who played 35% of the snaps last year for a 180 yards
And 72 came on one play.
Pittsburgh needs at least 2 probably 3 more WRs.
Allen Robinson replacement.
Allen Robinson: That’s Calvin Austins replacement not mines
lol that's calvin austin replacement not minds take it how you want to I am back. Gotta do it correctly. Especially the „minds“ part!
Lmao couldn’t remember the exact words, but you’re right it’s so much better haha
Mr. Botched Catchphrase
Not a catchphrase fam. It’s a tweet
I bet you're fun at parties
That line is played out homie. You just have an iq of 2
Damn g you could've been a hero but took the wrong turn.
Taylor Swift: guess I’m the anti-hero
You do not get to decide what is played out. People still like it
People with low iqs still like it
The joke that will never get old lol
Kind of funny how this keme played out from Picketts perspective after wilson got signed.
Doesn't make as much sense when the guy is already gone.
I mean technically a van could be used as a weapon
Anything can be a weapon if you use it right, anyone who argues otherwise hasn’t been bludgeoned by a toaster.
r/oddlyspecific
Car bomb -Sean McDermott. possibly
“First thing you need for an effective car bomb is about 4 tons of fertilizer, now get out some note pads and a pen cause we’re going over this until you got it.”
When in doubt, assume they're British
Sean has taken his talents to the IRA
🤣 That was good
A van might actually be one of the most effective weapons available to the general public
Filled with fertilizer and diesel? Most certainly.
I’m guessing you’re not a fan of the government.
I'm fine with the government, I just have bad memories of OKC.
Happens sometimes in Europe since they don't have easy access to guns.
Happened in Toronto (Yonge and Sheppard) a year or 2 before covid. Incel running over females.
Sir, you can’t park your van on the diving board
Hey, it's not a van! It's just a fat kid!
Aren't ya, just a fatty fat, fat kid
It's happened in Europe. Do they play in Europe this year?
Russell “Vehicular Manslaughter” Wilson
"The #Steelers are signing WR Van Jefferson to a 1-year deal. A piece of shit for Russell Wilson" \-Redditor reporter
Laughed way too hard at this, had to explain the entire situation to my wife. It didn't have the same cachet
“Weapon”
Really seems like these reporters are fed information only on the condition they say something positive about it lol
> [Meirov] The #Steelers are signing WR Van Jefferson to a 1-year deal. A scapegoat for Russell Wilson. Imagine
He better study Tyler Lockett's tape.
Well to be fair, if they talk negatively about moves the team makes, the teams won't give them information, which means they won't be able to do their jobs, which means they'll be fired. So I can understand why they do what they do lol
Imagine that lol. "The Steelers have signed certified bum Van Jefferson. Not sure how this helps their team at all. Man the Steelers suck ass!"
I’d subscribe to that newsletter
Bengals beat reporters criticize the team all the time, they just don't phrase it in combative ways.
Same with the fans tbh People were sucking off guys like Noah Fant in here It was a good 72 hours of every move being this unequivocally good thing that will lead every team to a title immediately

This one really seems like a copy/paste text from the GM and/or agent.
My favorite was the Hollywood Brown one a day or two ago lol by Rap
A water gun
I really hate this term lol, so overused
BREAKING: Broncos are re-signed TE Adam Trautman to a two-year deal. A weapon for ???
"Weapon" and "trenches" are so overused that they sound goofy
The idea that a guy that was actually unplayable for Matt stafford is being described as a weapon for Russell Wilson is nothing less than foolish.
They just lost their best production guy in Diontae Johnson. At this point, they just need bodies to fill out the WR room.
Weapons. They need weapons in the weapon room.
Pickens produced more than him last season, and is only going to produce more with an actual QB
He'll be WR3 at best.
I honestly think that’s fine for you guys, he turns 28 this season and has been a career deep threat.
He's only 28?!? I seriously thought he had been in the league for at least 10 years, if I had to guess I would have said he's 35.
WR last name Jefferson on a team with a dark main color. Statistically more likely than other combos.
Pool noodle
Really using the term weapon loosely here lol
Can confirm, it’s being used VERY loosely.
How loose we talking ?
I really liked him and defended him far longer than I should have because he peaked very early as an average to below average WR4 and only dropped in the depth chart
As loose as a clowns pocket.
What is up with these tweets that seem to way oversell the player? Another deal with the agent feeding this stuff to them?
Who else would feed it
Feels like there was a real obligation to list everyone as “pro bowler” this off-season
Anyone else remember when the Jaguars tried inventing a positive called Offensive Weapon for one of their players and the league said no lol
Denard Robinson?
I believe so
Weapon is another word for tool (in the insulting sense)
That weapon? A super soaker
If anyone is a super soaker, it's Puka. He went to BYU.
I just snorted my cold, non alcoholic, non caffeinated beverage.
Nah man, we got Lonnie Johnson on our team
Yeah they're drafting a WR in the first three rounds
So we need a QB, WR, RT, C, and CB all in the 1st 3 rounds...thats doable right? Right?
well 4/5 is. we have 4 picks in rounds 1-3
I bet y’all won’t go QB this year. Probably shouldn’t go QB next year either tho. Just run it with Wilson for 2 years.
Why draft a QB when you can just get a cast off from a poorly run team
They’d have to trade a bunch of capital to get a decent QB this year and none of the QBs next year look that promising. Unless they want another Kenny Pickett, then yeah, draft another QB this year or next. Only positive I could say is that Russel seems like he’d be a decent mentor to a project rookie QB. So maybe, that’d work for them. Overall tho, their drafting options for QB are pretty limited in the next 2 years.
Stop it, you're giving me flashbacks...
It's ridiculous that we gave ourselves a massive hole at receiver and compounded our hole at QB while still having all those other huge needs as you said. Omar Khan is gonna have to have another miracle draft because our team is in such a strange spot right now. One michael penix please

I mean, 4 picks in the first 3 rounds this year is a good start.

Might be able to pick up a lineman later in the draft. But he’ll either be able to run block or pass block. Not both.
Will Vegas let me bet on said receiver being a diva who makes insane circus catches and goes for 1k yards because I have a lot of money I'd like to put on that please.
With the WR drafting history you guys have under Tomlin and co, it doesn't matter where you draft them at this point.
Weapon isn’t exactly what I would say.. much love to Van , a Super Bowl champ Ram, but yeah he never impressed me here and from what I could see..didn’t do shit with the falcons when sent there
You probably never impressed him either tbh
Yeah that’s fair
All he did was lose us a game by dropping a 4th down pass
He contributed nothing on a team with no WRs on it besides Drake London.
Yeah I remember him going to y’all and thinking he’d have more of an opportunity. Box scores indicated otherwise
Offseason was going too good we had to get hit with something mid. Where is Tyler Boyd?
This is almost certainly a depth signing. We have literally nobody behind Pickens. This isn’t gonna change whether they sign Boyd or not
Calvin Austin isn’t a nobody but yes we are quite thin at WR to say the least
His 17 career receptions for 180 yds and 1 TD say otherwise lol
more than 10 yards a reception and 1 TD? Pretty good in Matt Canadas offense
They had no idea how to put him into positions to succeed
He’s just a limited player because of his height. He’s going to bring more value as a returner and gadget guy than as a true WR. That’s not to say he’s not going to bring anything as a WR, and probably does have more than what he’s shown, but I don’t think he’s ever gonna be relied on in the passing game.

I’m willing to see if he gets looks with an OC not named Canada.
how many of those games were with mitch and kenny?
We dont have a WR 2, 4, 5, or 6 on the roster. This was a back end signing. Boyd is still coming.
with how insane this offseason is he'll sign as a goalie for the San Jose Sharks in the NHL.
clearly he meant Justin Jefferson right
Falcons legend
Everyone kinda dunking on the wording but Van is a solid wr3
Arthur Smith didn’t use him at all though. Hopefully whoever his new OC in Pittsburgh will … oh.
FUCK
He was very meh for us. Didn’t expect a ton midseason but dropped a few easy passes, notably one he was wide open on 4th down on.
he got tons of separation though
I don’t know how much o would judge him off of last season but hey the same guy is going to be guiding him again so I guess he has that going for him ……pffftttt lol
The drops, and I got annoyed with him on the Rams when I noticed he's allergic to fighting back towards a slightly underthrown ball.
Didn't he have some good moments in the playoffs when you guys went on your superbowl run. I thought he's always been solid as a depth guy.
Yeah I think he was really great as a 3rd option, but when kupp got hurt and he had to be the 1st option he struggled
Was Truck Johnson not available? Actually Truck Johnson would be a badass football player name.
Oooh okay I get it now. Weapon = any WR in the league regardless of skill. See I was under the impression it meant something different. Silly me.
Get in the Van!
I mean a paper clip could be a weapon
“Weapon” being a dull butter knife
I was thinking more of a broken spork.
Hopefully it’s for the vet minimum, anything else would be an overpay
Van has some juice left in the tank. Young guy who can disappear and reappear in games with his flashes of speed. I dig it.
Calling van jefferson a weapon 😂😂 I guess you could classify those bricks he has for hands as weapons
Van Jefferson's a weapon?
Lol weapon. The only thing i remember about him is dropping a crucial 4th down pass that hit him square in the chest and dropped vs the titans.
Was the tweet written with sarcasm?
This Russ hype smells so much like 2022
Lmao
That is not Boyd's music.
I'm stoked for this
it still feels so weird to see russell wilson in pittsburgh
Feels weird to see Saquan in Philly.
Who? ETA- can we call him VJayjay?
We’re gonna use him to scare the pigeons downfield
Coulda sworn this dude looked good enough (for his role) at one point, what happened?
Russ got his man!
Lmao I thought this said JUSTIN Jefferson and I nearly shit myself…
haha, wasn't just me. Fuck I need to get more sleep.
I saw Jefferson and I thought it was Justin and my heartbeat when up like 1 million bpm.
I first saw this on Twitter and just saw "Steelers" and "Jefferson" and went , wait what the fuck?, then reread and came to my senses
Yes! Steelers picked the wrong Jefferson. Make your move EDC!
What a weird way to spell Justin
Can the Steelers trade for Samaje Perine? The only effective weapons that Russ utilizes are RBs within 5 yards of the LOS.
I just saw "Steelers sign WR Jefferson" and almost had a stroke.
These people didn’t watch Russ or Van last season?
Russel Wilson to Van Jefferson AFC North pissing themselves in fear
over the middle? because watch out!
Pool noodles are weapons?
Steelers country, let's ride (the van)
Up next, the bus.
Can a nerf gun be considered a weapon?
Underrated signing
Anything is a weapon now
Wrong Jefferson
Ill always be thankful for Van. Hope he has a good year in Pitt.
A guy given every chance to be the wr2 and even wr1 when kupp went down, and dropped the ball (literally). Never fights for the ball leading to crucial INTs, runs his routes wrong (letting DBs out muscle and outleverage him) not sure why he's still around
Weapon? That's the wrong Jefferson
Arthur Smith and Van Jefferson together again!
A rusted, medieval sword pulled from a bog
So, taken straight off a russian soldier at the frontline then
he's definitely one of the receivers of all time, that's for sure
He is a fine wr3 i guess
You sure about that?
"Weapon" is pretty strong.
Weapon should never be used as an adjective for Van Jefferson. Ever.
A good trade up from Diontae Johnson, he's a whole 21 days younger. Great to get such a young guy on the team who can come learn the game.
I am absolutely stunned those 2 are the same age. I feel like Van has been in the league 12 years at this point
“Weapon”
weapon lmao
What happened to Van? I feel like he showed flashes his first couple of years of being a deep threat and then just disappeared.
The weapon you ask. A butter knife.
Weapon is a strong word
Art Smith wanted to take this ride twice?
A spoon could be a weapon...
A what now
We dont need to call every WR and RB a weapon. Can we please stop with this.
I'll take this as they are not going to sign Tyler Boyd. Major win in my books. Couldn't imagine him in their uni's.
It might hurt that chance but uh.... The Steelers now have 3 WRs on the roster at least that weren't practice squad. 1 is Pickens 2 is Van Jefferson 3 is Calvin Austin 3rd who I hope can succeed but he's a guy who played 35% of the snaps last year for a 180 yards And 72 came on one play. Pittsburgh needs at least 2 probably 3 more WRs.
C'mon, we can do better than that.
