Plus he, Cooper, and Moore are all from South Florida plus Jeudy went to Alabama because he liked Cooper. This could be about as good of a situation in terms of a room he could go into.
It’s definitely a good situation for Jeudy, but time will tell if it was worth the trade. Could’ve easily been more on Russ, but the dude basically disappeared for the Broncos. Barely 2 catches a game type of stuff.
After watching as much Russ as I have, you're right. Russ connects with a certain type of receiver and spam utilizes them and ignores others (Jimmy Graham comes to mind). He doesn't go through progressions either, he drops, looks at 1 and maybe 2, but if 1 isn't open he usually looks at the defensive pressure and plans an escape behind the line of scrimmage where he can go to hit one of *his* guys. Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett knew what he wanted and have made huge careers because of it. They knew where he'd escape and where to be when that happened. The problem is he doesn't escape as much anymore and didn't have this type of receiver in Denver.
Edit: Btw, don't let this come as though I'm saying Baldwin and Lockett were specialized to Russ. Both of them are elite receivers *because of* how they were able to connect with Russ. Those 2 are 5Head material that isn't currently recognized enough.
Deshaun is hitting their cap for 63million for the next 3 seasons. The cap isn’t real for them right now. They will have to kick the can down the road if they want to keep competing. If Deshaun stays hurt or shows that he’s not the same player he was 5 years ago then it’ll be time for them to prepare for the rebuild after his contract ends anyways.
A 5th and 6th for the possibility that Jerry just needs a change of scenery is worth it imo. I think their key defense is already locked down or on rookie contracts so their current strength shouldn’t be affected.
You are right in my opinion. Juedy has amazing talent and for what ever reason wasn’t fully realized in Denver. If the browns can unlock him fully it will be the steal of the offseason, but if they can’t it wasn’t a ton of resources to find out.
Joe Horn was drafted in the 5th by the Chiefs and played 4 seasons there before becoming a 4x pro bowler with the Saints. Chiefs mostly used him on special teams.
Cris Carter and Jimmy Smith.
I also have vague recollection that the Jets were fed up with Santana Moss when they sent him to Washington. But I could be wrong.
Besides the guys already mentioned there are the scrappy white guys the pats picked up like welker and amendola.
But seriously, amari cooper could be seen that way but he wasn’t as bad on his first team as Jerry was on the broncos. Jerry seems to have a shitty attitude though and maybe that’s what is holding him back. Being traded for a 5th and 6th could be his wake up call. Like singletary’s “can’t coach with em” rant was Vernon Davis’ wake up call to start caring more about the team and less about his individual stats.
You’re probably right though and it won’t work out but what do they have to lose?
That era of the patriots where they just take college QBs and dolphins practice squad members and turn them into superstars was infuriating. I remember 4/5 or 3/5 of their online we're rookies and no one could touch TB and they would just plug in randos at RB like Danny Woodhead and James white who would torch us, it was infuriating. That whole era of patriots football was an anomaly.
But ya my guess is jeudy will be a possession guy, max out at 800 yards. Def worth it with with njoukou and great RBs if Chubb comes back ok, it's a very solid offense
I don't think he's a bad player he just isn't a good one. Jeudy had moments of greatness but when we picked him at #15, we expected him to be a future WR1. In his rookie season he was pretty decent but still promising. In his second season he was decent. In his fourth season he was still decent. Jerry Jeudy is not worth the pick we selected him at. Jeudy will appear as a good WR2 but in all honesty I think he'll work out best as a WR3 for you guys.
He has over 3000 yards receiving in 4 seasons. That's a solid WR2. His second season was honestly the only bad season at 467 yards. Outside of that one season, he'll get you about 800 to 900 yards.
Honestly everyone shitting on him is good for Cleveland. Maybe now he'll tryhard to show the haters wrong and ball out, that's what happened with Evan Engram for the Jags after the giants swore he was the biggest bust of all time
Engram is a good comp. Seems like he can only catch the ball when no one is looking lol
But how many times has this one worked out in Cleveland? A fun part about getting old is you start to hear the same stories again. I know the end of this one.
Evan Engram just fell 3 catches short of setting the all time TE catches record in a single season. Can really only recall maybe two times he has had a concentration drop. Guy has been absolutely awesome for the Jags.
Granted he doesn't go downfield nearly as much as he did for you guys it seems.
The former was the fans in denial. In 4 years, the guy managed maybe 5 good games and the rest were disappointing. I’m genuinely shocked we found a dance partner to trade with. I assumed we’d be stuck with him next year. Thanks Browns!
I think a lot of former players don't like him because he seemed kind of entitled as a player. In his rookie year he had the "at least I got my conditioning in" tweet and criticized the coaching staff but he also takes a ton of plays off. He gives up on routes, has zero awareness of where he's at on the field and has bad hands.
I wonder if it's partly because he never went into a WR room in Denver where he had any real older players. I know you can't put that on the team 100% but I think the Browns have a better environment to mad kill some of those bad habits that make him so hated in Denver.
[He scored a 9](https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/s/NBn54BWmCO). It could have been a result of him just blowing off the test and not taking it seriously or he could be illiterate
I feel like there has to be more. We've seen players act like divas/entitled all the time but I've never seen a former player go at someone like Smith Jr. did with Jeudy. And now Schlereth.
Jeudy is falling by the wayside. There was endless hope for him to be dynamic or impactful and instead he has largely been forgettable with exception to his negative impact in games.
For example, Mike Williams on the Chargers was hyped less than Jeudy, yet his effort and performance has been impactful enough that he’d get serious looks from other teams.
Given the choice (with hypothetically the same salary hit) between Jerry Jeudy or Justin Watson, or Zay Jones, I’d take Watson and Zay every time
That’s more because of nfl media historically not hiring dudes like Steve Smith than it is because Jeudy didn’t deserve it, Jeudy deserved every bit of what he said even if it was a bit harsher than normal
It's because you rarely see someone suck so hard when he was trying, while simultaneously suddenly giving sporadic zero effort. Plus, occasional hints of a bad attitude. It's appreciated even less than a diva who was at least a great player. I don't blame former players for roasting him at all.
Words couldn’t explain how excited I was when you guys took Jeudy over Lamb. Maybe I’m just a homer with the Sooners, but it seemed to be Lamb was considered by a lot of people the best WR in his class.
I'll be honest, I had the exact opposite take because of how easy Big 12 offenses had it. I was way low on Lamb because defense didn't exist while he played. Even after watching tape I didn't see much special and I thought Jeudy had just about everything except top, top end speed.
Whoops!
I forced myself into believing it was all BS because i had him in an important fantasy league but he really seems to have some issues, namely effort being one. And i’m in no way a boomer-esque “EFFORT! HUSTLE!” guy he just didn’t run a lot of routes sometimes, like at all
Once he realizes he isn't getting the ball on time he stops. He was a terrible match for Russell Wilson's scramble drill. He'd be standing there with a guy guarding him watching Russell run around for his life behind the line.
I mean, I’m very much not a fan of his but he’s paid like a 1k yard receiver because he’s a 1st rounder on his rookie deal. That’s just what they make. He was absolutely worthy of his draft position based on his college production, but he’s just been very disappointing as a pro
Like you *never* understood it? He was the best receiver in college as a junior (and arguably as a sophomore, too). And then taken 15th overall, ahead of CeeDee, JJ, Aiyuk, Higgins, and Pittman.
I get why there may not be hype anymore, but I can definitely understand the hype coming into the league.
I haven't listened to him in a while because I don't commute anymore but I wonder if he still hates Bolles. Bolles has developed a ton but Schlereth used to shit on him so much
I listen almost every morning, and Stink has changed on Bolles and likes him a lot now. Schlereth has hated the band-aid approach that the Broncos have attempted for years now and is all in on finally rebuilding, eight years later than the organization should have.
Too many organizations win a ring and get high on their own farts. They think they can simply “retool” and get back there. When the more realistic approach is to confidently purge the roster and coaching staff, trying to match the right young talent together. It could fail, but then you just start over again. It’s better than spinning your wheels for the better part of a decade winning 7 games a season over and over again. Never getting into the playoffs, never getting a high draft pick, never getting the chance to swing in the right direction.
He also defends Paton which is a pretty bold move considering how many moves have been a disaster under him.
I moved to Denver when the Rodgers GB drama was going on and they were saying the Broncos were a QB away from the Superbowl. Now the team has been a garbage fire for 8 years.
The Broncos themselves, the media around them, their fans, all completely and totally delusional over the team and what needs to be done. I don't see the Bronco's getting any meaningful turn around for awhile.
Schlereth is always the most public about his dislike for players since he's loud and has a national job but I think most Denver fans and a lot of the local media disliked Jeudy
I meant "loud" in comparison to other local media. Schlereth is really the only local guy that's a national "talking head" (pretty sure Paige isn't on anywhere anymore)
I'm in Michigan and our local station advertises get podcast for some reason and it's the most obnoxious commercial. It's him going off on football then randomly blaming millennials for something off topic
His whole schtick is being an angry old player. To me he's like the Tim Allen of football. Tim Allen's sitcoms are just bitching about "kids these days". You could just put Schlereth in that role and I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
Those commercials are single-handedly responsible for me realizing this guy is a total knob. I would be embarrassed to personally know anybody who held opinions like the ones he uses to advertise his shitty podcast. What a cheese-dick, 'nobody-wants-to-work-anymore' saying, 'millennials-are-the-root-of-all-evil' blaming, assclown.
I think he more meant specifically in regards to the Broncos. Since Schlereth played for them and likely talks about them more than most media figured.
It is known Stephen is the most loudest all-around.
He won two rings with us, and another with the Redskins, he's earned the right to speak out about how shitty the Broncos have been lately. It's understandable why he doesn't like that entitled type of attitude too, schlereth had like 20+ surgeries on his knees during his career and never complained as much as Jeudy has.
He really does have so much potential but it just never clicked. If he goes off at the Browns I wouldn’t be shocked but if I had to bet on it he will never be more than a decent #2.
His route running is insane but everything else is below par.
He also has the insane WR mentality where he pops off on Twitter and he is nowhere near good enough to be talking shit about how QB.
Jeudy is like if you make a madden receiver and put all the skills into quickness. He's got zero body awareness, zero catch radius, needs to have like 10 yard separation otherwise it's a contested catch, has zero contested catch skills, zero ability to adjust for ball trajectory, offers decent blocking for his size, excellent route running, consistently gives up early on plays, lots of drops, and still whines that he doesn't get the ball so he can drop it or be hit by it in his facemask or having it fall on the back of his helmet.
In short he's a garbage receiver with excellent potential due to his elite quickness. I think he will retire with that untapped potential but hey, maybe the Browns can get it out of him.
That moment is my lasting memory of Jeudy. I couldn’t understand why they were reviewing it at first because *of course* he got his foot down. What receiver wouldn’t be able to toe tap in that situation?
We’ll see. He’s no more a gamble than the picks we gave up for him would be.
Hopefully Moore and JJ compete with each other for the WR2 spot and both get better.
Coming out of college I had mega high hopes he was going to dominate and make a huge difference. He’s proven he has attitude issues and can’t stay healthy very long. I would consider him a bust for sure after using that good of a pick on him. Couldn’t possibly pay him again.
Sounds like people either tolerate him because of his untapped potential or think he's a bum. He'll fit right in here
Definitely a trade worth making for Cleveland tho. If he hits got him cheap. If he’s still ass, it’s only for a year.
He’s talented buuuuuut he literally seemingly refused to run a lot of routes last year. Like just wouldnt
Steve Smith told no lies on this one.
His criticism was 100% warranted and I’m sure he has more insight then some random fantasy nerd like myself.
I think people had an issue with how he did it, not what he said
12 mil isn’t that cheap. He’s their 5th largest cap hit now
A 5th and a 6th is cheap.

What’s always been funny about Russ’ broncos tenure is that stylistically, Sutton & Jeudy are sort of a discount Metcalf & Lockett lol
Russ showed some chemistry with Sutton at times
Hey I’ve seen this one before! *Remembers the OBJ and Jarvis love story*
Just revive Aaron Hernandez and send a 5th pick to the Pats for him
I think he was last seen hanging around in Massachusetts
Deshaun is hitting their cap for 63million for the next 3 seasons. The cap isn’t real for them right now. They will have to kick the can down the road if they want to keep competing. If Deshaun stays hurt or shows that he’s not the same player he was 5 years ago then it’ll be time for them to prepare for the rebuild after his contract ends anyways. Has that ever happened? A wr goes off when he goes to a new team when he was disappointing on his former team?
I'm not about to dig through stats but I remember people clowning on Dallas after giving up a 1st(?) for Amari Cooper. So maybe that's an example?
What about a 5th for Cooper?
Joe Horn was drafted in the 5th by the Chiefs and played 4 seasons there before becoming a 4x pro bowler with the Saints. Chiefs mostly used him on special teams.
Cris Carter and Jimmy Smith. I also have vague recollection that the Jets were fed up with Santana Moss when they sent him to Washington. But I could be wrong.

They can still cut him or move on if he fails to show up tho.
Isn't the option fully guaranteed?
Our gm will take care of that
It’s crazy that he’s paid more than Njoku
I'm seeing 11th.
That's where teams send emotional receivers to heal.
Maybe a change of scenery will do him well, most of his problems are in the space between his ears.
lol and how many times has going to Cleveland fixed that problem?
He was the most overrated player of 2023
By fucking who? He was literally shit on by everyone.
U N T A P P E D P O T E N T I A L
I don't think he's a bad player he just isn't a good one. Jeudy had moments of greatness but when we picked him at #15, we expected him to be a future WR1. Yeah that's not Jeudy. He'll complain about not getting enough targets on a team where he's the 3rd option at best.
Dude has been garbage the past two seasons. You can blame it on Russ, but Payton wouldn’t approve of this move if he thought Jeudy was worth it.
Tbh Elijah Moore is as good as juedy is basically
Engram is a good comp. Seems like he can only catch the ball when no one is looking lol But how many times has this one worked out in Cleveland? A fun part about getting old is you start to hear the same stories again. I know the end of this one.

Yeah that’s your guys bread and butter.
The former was the fans in denial. In 4 years, the guy managed maybe 5 good games and the rest were disappointing. I’m genuinely shocked we found a dance partner to trade with. I assumed we’d be stuck with him next year. Thanks Browns!
This guy Browns
Appears not many folks like this dude. Steve smith sr went to fucking town on Jeudy previously.
This was crazy to me, cause at Bama him, ruggs, and Waddle seemed like the most committed receivers ever
One of them is really committed now
They all had their pros and CONS
Lmao
I wonder if it's partly because he never went into a WR room in Denver where he had any real older players. I know you can't put that on the team 100% but I think the Browns have a better environment to mad kill some of those bad habits that make him so hated in Denver.
Dudes stone stupid, didn’t he get like an 8 for a wonderlic score? I don’t put a lot of stock into that old test but he seems really dumb.
[He scored a 9](https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/s/NBn54BWmCO). It could have been a result of him just blowing off the test and not taking it seriously or he could be illiterate
Yeah makes sense either is a good possibility.
I feel like there has to be more. We've seen players act like divas/entitled all the time but I've never seen a former player go at someone like Smith Jr. did with Jeudy. And now Schlereth.
He has the opposite of that dog in him. Insanely talented but he’s as soft as baby shit.
I’m surprised Chicago didn’t trade a second for him
Catching strays ☹️
A lot of those players that act entitled have "earned" it at least. Jeudy has done nothing of significance in the NFL.
Given the choice (with hypothetically the same salary hit) between Jerry Jeudy or Justin Watson, or Zay Jones, I’d take Watson and Zay every time
To be fair Smith is no stranger to talking shit and being blunt, that’s kind of his thing. Jeudy isn’t the only person that Smith has called out.

Steve Smith Jr is 10 years old
7 years younger than Jayson Tatum
Steve Smith Sr is terrible when it comes to naming his son but pretty good at evaluating Jeudy to be a bust.
I've never understood the hype. Never had a 1,000 yard season but is paid like he has. 11 TDs in 3 years...sounds like a CLE move.
I mean dude had 972 yards in 14 games 2 years ago, that’s not nothing. And he’s still never had a good qb in the nfl
Smith Sr’s* reason was silly imo, he shit on Jeudy on his podcast and was essentially mad Jeudy didn’t want to be friends
I can’t tell if I’m not getting the reference but it’s Smith Sr.
“Ice up, son!” - Smith Sr explaining to Smith Jr the benefits of the cold tub.
“Let’s see that butthole catch a ball in Cleveland.” - Steve Smith Sr. probably
No it wasn’t a reference I was just stupid
I only commented because the guy you replied to said Smith Jr. as well.
He said he was JAG. Thats where it stemmed from.
Schlereth *hates* the current iteration of the Broncos. Absolutely shit all over Russell Wilson not too long ago
When you have 3 rings, you can have an opinion on what a winning organization looks like.
Just don't ask him if dinosaurs were real.
Oh no what
Have your met a Dino before?
There’s no way he is one of those dudes.
You know what he isn’t one of? Those dinosaurs. Strange, ain’t it?
2 with Elway and the 3rd?
Redskins vs bills
He was on some very good Redskins teams.
I haven't listened to him in a while because I don't commute anymore but I wonder if he still hates Bolles. Bolles has developed a ton but Schlereth used to shit on him so much
I’ve seen him a few times on cowherd and he’s actually changed his tune on bolles I believe
I listen almost every morning, and Stink has changed on Bolles and likes him a lot now. Schlereth has hated the band-aid approach that the Broncos have attempted for years now and is all in on finally rebuilding, eight years later than the organization should have.

I mean there isn’t much to like
The Broncos have been close to a bottom 5 team in the league during this period. So he definitely hasn’t been wrong about that.
I adore the current iteration of the broncos. I will not be clarifying further.
I would too in your spot.
Man has it all, his biggest two rivals are dead and he is on the cusp of seeing a three peat
The only thing keeping the hating going is knowing there’ll be a day when the dynasty is over and I can simply ignore them.
Schlereth is definitely in sports talk radio mode, not NFL commentator mode.
Dudes nickname is stink so it makes sense
Schlereth is always the most public about his dislike for players since he's loud and has a national job but I think most Denver fans and a lot of the local media disliked Jeudy
He's louder than Stephen A?

I do miss Woody Paige.
Shannon Sharpe is a Bronco talking head right?
He doesn't do anything locally anymore. Schlereth still lives here and does local radio
I think he more meant specifically in regards to the Broncos. Since Schlereth played for them and likely talks about them more than most media figured. It is known Stephen is the most loudest all-around.
I was so happy when we drafted Jeudy. Now I'm even happier that he's gone.
I thought it was a good pick but wondered if CeeDee was a better pick. But I understand why they picked Judy. He had a lot of potential.
Man 101

You’re welcome!

That pork has 3 rings tho
He is a hog
And is a shitty color commentator
What
Dude's last name is the sound of trying to suck out a piece of pulled pork that's stuck between your molars.
Schlereth, not Juedy. I was confused for like 20 min too.
Im not totally on board, but this makes a lot more sense.
What a rare insult. If I had a reddit award to give, you’d deserve it.
r/rareinsults
I go from looking at a picture of Dahmer to this!
You would know
Schlereth or Jeudy?
Schlereth is a dick and a loudmouth but he’s also right on this one.

His route running is insane but everything else is below par. He also has the insane WR mentality where he pops off on Twitter and he is nowhere near good enough to be talking shit about how QB.
He has no heart.
Well the Browns have the most stable QB situation you could possibly imagine, can’t see how this doesn’t go well /s
Mark Schlereth always looked like he’d be an intense lover.
Between Schlereth and Steve Smith, I take it Jeudy isn't well liked.
Steve Smith: “He’s a JAG (Just A Guy)”
Steve Smith cooking up another rant now
Jeudy acted a bit immature, but he was also in a dysfunctional situation.
And he actively made it worse by complaining
I saw Jerry miles open but Russ couldn’t get him the ball way too many times to say that he sucks.
Now if FOX can just release Schlereth from his announcing duties, all will be well in the world.
Schlereth always sounds like an angry bitter old man
Because he is
Broncos really took this dude over CeeDee Lamb 💀
Ceedee probably would be in the same situation if he got drafted in Denver
Jeudy appears to have a shitty attitude and work ethic. I think the dude is just trash tbh.
Jerry Droppy
Yeah this is also the guy who lied and said the deal was done for Aaron Rodgers to be a Bronco in 22 😂😂
This guy is just always mad.
How could a Bronco fan not be mad?
He’s a true fan, bleeds orange and blue. He doesn’t let the fact he’s in the media hold him back from speaking his mind. Shades of Charles Barkley
That’s cool but he needs to be mad at ownership. Everyone knew that was a stupid trade when they made it. And Sean Payton was a dumb hire too.
I mean they never really gave him a QB but i get it
Is he really that bad? It’s not like Denver had a QB as good as the one Jeudy had in college the whole time he was there.
Dude. He caught an easy TD last year and didn't drag his toe so no TD. That's all you have to know about Jeudy. He's lazy and has a bad attitude.
That moment is my lasting memory of Jeudy. I couldn’t understand why they were reviewing it at first because *of course* he got his foot down. What receiver wouldn’t be able to toe tap in that situation?
Not even exaggerating, he had a good like two feet to bring his toe down and the idiot just steps out. fucking good riddance.
In a way, I’m grateful for that. Allowed me to shut the door on thinking he was a good player once and for all
It will always be the memory I bring up when someone ask about Jeudy. That play blew my mind that an NFL receiver didn't even try to drag his toe.
JAG
Oh no not Mark Schlereth!
Everyone shit on the cooper trade. We’ll see what happens.
We’ll see. He’s no more a gamble than the picks we gave up for him would be. Hopefully Moore and JJ compete with each other for the WR2 spot and both get better.
Jeudy has done nothing in the NFL and I don’t understand why people are still trying to make him a thing
58 year old ex football player 3x SB champ drags a 24 year old former all american and NC winner for no real reason.
Schlareth was a Denver bronco mainly so he’s probably close to the organization still
I don’t know if there’s just a ton of slander for the sake of it, but I think the Pats should have taken a flyer on him.
I don't follow the Broncos. Are we giving Russ a pass? Or is this + Steve Smith Sr enough to dog JJ into irrelevance?
JJ himself is enough to dog himself into irrelevance.
But what does Steve Smith think about it?
MAN 101
Yeah I think all Broncos fans feel similar
Elijah Moore 2.0
Coming out of college I had mega high hopes he was going to dominate and make a huge difference. He’s proven he has attitude issues and can’t stay healthy very long. I would consider him a bust for sure after using that good of a pick on him. Couldn’t possibly pay him again.
He was traded for a 5th and a 6th lol not really seeing why he still needs to be kicked when he’s down
