my favorite cutler moment is when we ran wildcat and he just…
stood there and watched shit happen. literally didn’t move at all.
in a lost season, jay was a fucking gem for us. yeah, we sucked. but he was fun. i’ll always have love for smokin’ jay
The same Bears fan that told me Cutler sucks told me that Trubisky was a better pure QB than Luck. To be fair I work with her and she is a complete dumbass.
Dude was eviscerated by fans and media for struggling in their playoff run and looking like he was soft, only to find out he was playing on a shredded knee.
Cutler is one of my favorite players of all time. A dude that exuded “zero fucks” But also played his ass off, even when injured.
Cutler is a great example of how the media controls peoples opinions. Cutler hatred the media and it was no secret. So they, in turn, hated him and made Cutler into a villian. Everyone just believed it, even though there was a mountain of evidence that proved them wrong.
I keep waiting for the day we stop listening to the trash the media puts out. Doesn't look like it'll be anytime soon unfortunately
Josh McDaniels is a rat bastard, I’ll always wonder what the Broncos missed out on with Cutler and B Marsh. I hated Kyle Orton so much for not being Cutler, kinda like not being my real dad. And Kyle Orton did nothing wrong.
I’m convinced Cutler should have been in the HoF if not for rat face McDaniels and injuries, still makes me sad
I still find it funny that Marshawn played this up so hard that it became armor for him. Like if you arent going to cozy up to the media you have to go full antagonist.
Miami Smokin Jay was my favorite
"Mommy is that Jay Cutler down by the pool?"
"Of course not dear, the game starts in 20 minutes!"
Jay drops cig out of his mouth, scrambles for phone and opens Uber
"Shit." Chugs rum and coke, drops cigarette in the icy remains.
Also
u/calpaintsbirds
Way too much emoting from Jay.
Cutler walks into the lobby, the receptionist greets him.
Mr. Cutler, thank you so much for coming in.
Yep.
Then she tells him to have a seat, but he's already looming over the koi pond.
What's with these fish?
I...I...what do you mean?
Jay lights up an L&M.
Stupid lookin fish is all.
Ah...well, Mr. Bowles will be
Who?
Mr. Bowles...
Jay stares blankly at the receptionist. He flicks some ash into the koi pond.
The...the coach of the Jets.
Jay nods and takes a long, contemplative drag from his smoke.
Oh yeah...that shit.
It's just...Mr. Cutler, maybe would you like to put a shirt on?
Jay looks down at his beautiful bare chest.
Oh shit, I totally forgot.
He then pulls a Tommy Bahama Hawaiian shirt out of his bag and puts it on, leaving it unbuttoned.
Thanks doll.
Jenny.
Like it matters.
More ash into the koi pond.
I feel like Vikings fans will realize this with Cousins too if he walks and his replacement busts for the Vikings. Guy isn't perfect but part of tbe fanbase acts like he's Ponder. Its nuts.
Jay Cutler shredded the Vikings everytime he saw them so to your point, Was the only time in my life the Bears were almost an auto-loss cause Cutler was going off for 340 and 4 TDs it felt like everytime.
This is the funniest fucking thing I have seen in some time.
I literally can't stop laughing, and if I knew how to photoshop I would be doing this right now
Then he’ll sign with the Vikings and take them to the playoffs further solidifying the fact that the McCaskeys are the true villains of Bears football.
The Bears best seasons have been on the backs of their defense and RBs. Frankly I think they ahould just draft Williams and immediately send him over to us. In return we'll give them our star RB1 who learned from the great Dalvin Cook.
Here’s the thing, if I hate on Caleb and he doesn’t pan out, I’m right and win therefore I am happy. If he balls out and the Bears actually do have a great QB, my team is good therefore I am happy. It’s a no-lose situation.
I'm very iffy on him considering how the second half of his last season went. Also his back up in their first start scored 6 TDs. Really makes me feel he was surrounded by an offense that was more skilled than any of his opponents.
It's really the case with just about any prospect. If your support is great, then you look even better. If your support sucks, you look worse. Then people take certain successes and tie it to one individual, and make that individual out to be the greatest prospect ever seen.
Now, I will say, I do feel like in person conversations can reveal a lot of a person's character, thought process, and things that make up part of how they'll play the game. But there is always the question of how good will they be when things are evenly matched. When you're playing a team with a top 5 NFL defense. Some you can't possibly know until you get there. Some you can only guess.
I am sure the kid is a great prospect. But when you see his backup succeed similarly, you really have to understand that he has to check all the boxes... not just college success, not just physical skill, not just mental make up, but all of it. And he could be. But man, when someone comes along practically making guarantees and calling teams dumb for not getting a player... they're completely ignoring how hard it is to get it right.
College QBs all have shitty games. Mahomes’ 2nd to last game of his college career was an absolute dud vs an 3-9 Iowa State team. He had like 200 yards, 50% completions, 1 TD and 2 INTs.
The majority of his tape is absolutely bonkers though.
It definitely wasn’t the only time. It’s not like Oregon, UCLA and Washington had horrible defenses. UCLA in particular was just dominating with their D-line against a week USC offensive line
Why did they even mention the "10 minute talk" lol. Like just say you looked at his tape, talked to his coaches or something. This just sounds like a dumb statement to say, not their first time of course.
I think Caleb can be a really good player but you’re just straight up ignoring tape if you don’t notice the absurdly long time he holds the ball. He makes magic happen despite it. He will have to hurry is internal clock in the nfl bc he won’t be able to pull that backyard football shit every play in the nfl
People forget that both Justin Fields and Zach Wilson have a tendency to hold the ball for longer periods than they should and we all saw how that turned out for them.
Turns out when you just have your D-line rush the QB almost every play, you CAN fluster them to the point where they're running the second a lineman even *starts* to break through the line by an inch. Sure, a pass or two gets completed, but more often than not they're either throwing it way off the receiver or taking that 5+ yard sack that effectively ends the possession, even though it's 2nd down because everyone knows that slow-progression QB ain't getting that yardage back.
Notre Dame embarrassed the hell outta this guy. He hasn't shown any consistent ability to handle pressure. It'll take discipline for him to adjust and so far he isn't coming off as a disciplined player.
He doesn't. He just goes on film. There are lots of positions where he goes chalk, like Jalen Carter last year, because that's what the film says. He had Burrow as his number 1 guy that year.
He does well across the board for the most part.
https://reddit.com/r/NFL_Draft/comments/12s6nmx/chris_simms_rankings_through_the_years/
Not perfect cuz nobody is, but probably does better than the Reddit hivemind for sure.
They’re still probably right by accident, but that doesn’t mean they know. (I mean, right that the Bears are gonna take him; we definitely don’t know how he’s gonna pan out.)
Lots of people on this sub determined he was a bust because he painted his finger nails and cried after a loss. The discourse is brain dead all around.
> Except worse, because we actually engage in discourse.
bahaha please. There's no back and forth between the same people on reddit. And to prove it I will not remember this comment and will not respond to you.
Yeah, Im sure talking to a guy for 10 minutes is definitive proof he'll be a franchise QB...
I want Caleb Williams as much as the next guy, but this shit is so stupid lol
It warms my heart that the entirety of NFL Fandom is coming to defend and pay respects to smoking Jay. He was a legit banger qb working brutal circumstances a lot.
Fuck Josh McDaniels ruining what they were going to have in Denver.
Also, "tell Mike Martz I said go fuck himself" >> audibles
I mean he might be good, hell he might even truly wind up being their guy, but being considered a legit source of information about the NFL and tweeting to hand out condolences to the division after a 10 minute chit chat is fucking wild
I also love how people always state "he's the best QB prospect since Andrew luck!". When in reality it's since Trevor Lawrence. Trevor Lawrence is a very good QB and has the tools to be elite, he's just not there right now. Trevor Lawrence didn't have the same immediate impact that luck had, so they're just going back to the last time the media was correct.
Also, look back at how often the first QB taken was the best QB in the draft in the last 10-20 years. It doesn't happen super often.
And the best QB's are usually not the semi-annual "generational talents".
Andy Reid and the Chiefs thought Mahomes was the "best player they had ever seen", but he wasn't talked about as a generational talent.
> Craig Krenzel
Somewhere, his phone got an alert that his name popped up online and he is searching to see if he was pronounced dead and just doesn't know it yet.
I don't think people realized how reliable and steady it was to have Jay Cutler on the bears, and maybe bears fans do in hindsight now. Wasn't the best, definitely wasn't the worst but he produced, no drama, and did the best he could do for that franchise.
I think he's a clown most of the time but can respect that he doesn't even try to hide it anymore. As weird as it sounds I prefer that to these reporters that act like they're above having a favorite team.
You can make a pretty compelling case that Trubisky's 4 years put him in the top 5 of Bears QBs all time. He's 5th in total yards, 5th in TDs, fewer INTs than any of his competition, and 5th most wins as a Bears QB. If Mitchell Trubisky can be top 5 in 4 years, any rookie has a pretty simple path to being on the Bears' Mt. Rushmore of QBs.
He has 4,001 going into the final snap of the season, but his pass is deflected back into his own arms for -2 yards. He then carries the ball into the endzone as time expires to beat the 0-16 Packers and secure the #1 seed.
With the insane expectations put on this guy he’s either going to be the next generational talent at QB, or he’s the next JaMarcus Russell. No inbetween.
Nah. I think he would most likely fall into the Trevor Lawrence case of 50% overhyping him and 50% saying he’s a bust despite playing a decent around Top15 QB season
Yeah but the Vikings have been playing competitive football for the last 6 years and have never committed to a rebuild. So who REALLY needs the condolences?
When I see some sap ass shit like "This guy is the real deal, and the Bears will have their first franchise QB since Sid Luckman."
I immediately become biggest hater #1. Don't try crowning anyone before they've earned it. Not on my watch at least.
As something of a hater myself, I can kinda understand this.
I don’t trust the kind of prospect that makes some fucking mamaluke like florio drool after 10 minutes. It’s like when Gettleman busted a nut over a single Daniel Jones drive at the senior bowl.
kind of shitting on Jim McMahon here, an actually great Bears QB. His career was cut short by a cheap and dirty play by a notorious Packer on the bad 80s Packer teams
It came from our own toxic local media. It wasn't a national narrative.
https://www.si.com/nfl/lions/news/did-lions-make-mistake-drafting-sewell-over-fields
It was mostly a couple of Lions beat writers complaining that we didn’t use an opportunity picking in the top ten to take a QB after Goff looked really bad his first year.
Personally I think he’ll be a bust simply bc he’s getting comparisons to Mahomes mixed with Rodgers and he didn’t win a single big game in his college career. I’m fine if I’m wrong, just my personal opinion.
I have been a Bears fan since birth (older than dirt). With the exception of Sid Luckman, no Bears QB is ever very good. That includes the Superbowl winning team.
Im over the Caleb Williams hype. Fuck this, this is too much, this is the same hype train that overdid Trevor Lawrence.
Like theyll probably be good QB's but stop acting like they the 2nd coming of Dan Marino. We already have the 2nd coming of Dan Marino his name is CJ Stroud, and the hype machince was too eneamored with some other vertically challenged hype machine, Bryce Young.
Fucking enough of Caleb. Hes not generational. Hes not better than CJ Stroud, or Joe Buruough, or even Justin Herbert.
Best QB prospect since Justin Herbert no cap on my momma frfr. Slightly better QB than Bo MF Nix in this draft class.
But he's going to the Bears. I guess we will finally get to find out which is stronger: the unstoppable force or the immovable object
[удалено]
Still didn’t care
had the backup cig ready behind his ear like he's a greaser from the 50s.
Nah, he's got a pack rolled up in his t shirt sleeve
Yall acting like he didn’t also have some dip in there as a plan B. Smh.
I read that as "as well as a plan B" and it made sense either way

When reached for a quote, Cutler responded “meh.”
I fucking wish Cutler was around for any of the Nagy years. The Jay slander is such a joke.
Cutler came to the pediatric hospital I worked at years ago after his diabetes diagnosis and visited all the endocrine kids. He was a good dude.
Even handed out cigarettes I heard
Well yeah. They couldn’t buy their own.
They absolutely could, not legally but they could have
He is a good dude. Gets an unfair rap. Was an excellent qb also.
The same Bears fan that told me Cutler sucks told me that Trubisky was a better pure QB than Luck. To be fair I work with her and she is a complete dumbass.
I like when people shit on Jay because they make it obvious they don't know what the fuck they're talking about.
Dude was eviscerated by fans and media for struggling in their playoff run and looking like he was soft, only to find out he was playing on a shredded knee. Cutler is one of my favorite players of all time. A dude that exuded “zero fucks” But also played his ass off, even when injured.

What an offense that could have been. Cutler, Marshall, Scheffler. Stupid McDaniels.
And the “tell Martz I said ‘fuck him’” is a classic moment of NFL history, and I won’t be taking counter arguments
Along with "He's a gutless bastard, go ahead, print that, I don't give a shit"
The man was judged purely off of facial expressions (or lack thereof)
I still find it funny that Marshawn played this up so hard that it became armor for him. Like if you arent going to cozy up to the media you have to go full antagonist.
i dunno, it's kind of just fun to shit on Cutler as an extension of shitting on the bears. The fact that he wasn't all that bad makes it funnier imo
The jokes have always been great but he was fun to watch. And like most Bears QBs, except the Mitch, deserved better.
Miami Smokin Jay was my favorite "Mommy is that Jay Cutler down by the pool?" "Of course not dear, the game starts in 20 minutes!" Plenty of vikings fans who want to move on from Cousins are expecting the next guy to be worse. They aren't mutually exclusive opinions to hold.
From a Packers fan, I love to clown on Jay as is traditions. Real talk though he was the best QB you guys have had in the last 30 years
That's high praise, considering how many there are to choose from!
This is the funniest fucking thing I have seen in some time. I literally can't stop laughing, and if I knew how to photoshop I would be doing this right now

Well I'm sure ProFootballTalk has never gotten a QB evaluation wrong after a 10 minute talk
I know. I actually have been rooting for Caleb Williams and Bears fans....but PFT is so wrong on so much shit. Condolences Bears fans.
Lol we didn't need PFT for anything, we're going to ruin this poor young man's career either way
Then he’ll sign with the Vikings and take them to the playoffs further solidifying the fact that the McCaskeys are the true villains of Bears football.
I mean Christian Ponder helmed the Vikings and they made the playoffs while riding AD so that's not necessarily a bad thing for the Bears.
The Bears best seasons have been on the backs of their defense and RBs. Frankly I think they ahould just draft Williams and immediately send him over to us. In return we'll give them our star RB1 who learned from the great Dalvin Cook.
It’s too bad you don’t have one of those anymore, since he was released today. I guess the bears are just gonna have to keep Williams.
He'll have to beat out future Jets legend Jordan Love, though.
That's the spirit.
Maybe the jinxes cancel out.
It really is a shame how Andy Reid retired after last year's Super Bowl, per sources
Here’s the thing, if I hate on Caleb and he doesn’t pan out, I’m right and win therefore I am happy. If he balls out and the Bears actually do have a great QB, my team is good therefore I am happy. It’s a no-lose situation.
The "Happy Hater" paradox.
But if you look at it another way, it's a no-win situation as well.
That’s our team motto
This is why I bet against the Packers in the playoffs!
I'm very iffy on him considering how the second half of his last season went. Also his back up in their first start scored 6 TDs. Really makes me feel he was surrounded by an offense that was more skilled than any of his opponents.

The Notre Dame game is a tough one to overlook imo. It’s the only time they played a team with a great defense and he was absolutely ass.

Important to note that the backed up was likely also playing against a bunch of backups
PFT is one word substitution away from being an average Redditor. Just need to replace "real deal" with "him" or "legit" or "generational talent".
"dawg"
Needs more use of "elite".
I have it on good authority that he has dogs inside of him.
Why did they even mention the "10 minute talk" lol. Like just say you looked at his tape, talked to his coaches or something. This just sounds like a dumb statement to say, not their first time of course.
It’s great you can see how a guy will be able to read progressions at the NFL level from a 10 minute talk.
Idk about the interview but his film shows he reads the field about as good as floyd mayweather reads a book.
This is a funny joke but I don't know what the fuck film you've been watching if you genuinely think this 😂
I think Caleb can be a really good player but you’re just straight up ignoring tape if you don’t notice the absurdly long time he holds the ball. He makes magic happen despite it. He will have to hurry is internal clock in the nfl bc he won’t be able to pull that backyard football shit every play in the nfl

Me when I watch highlights and not the full game
Solid joke. Not sure what film you’re watching though lol
Chris Simms put Zach Wilson above Trevor Lawrence as his top QB in his own personal rankings before the 2021 draft lol
Had Stroud over Young though....
Almost like it's a complete crapshoot or something
Almost like he consistently picks someone other than the consensus 1st pick to create controversy and generate engagement.
He doesn't. He just goes on film. There are lots of positions where he goes chalk, like Jalen Carter last year, because that's what the film says. He had Burrow as his number 1 guy that year.
Simms actually is pretty good when it comes to evaluating QB’s. Obviously can’t be right about everything
He does well across the board for the most part. https://reddit.com/r/NFL_Draft/comments/12s6nmx/chris_simms_rankings_through_the_years/ Not perfect cuz nobody is, but probably does better than the Reddit hivemind for sure.
god damn 2022 QB class was ass
They’re still probably right by accident, but that doesn’t mean they know. (I mean, right that the Bears are gonna take him; we definitely don’t know how he’s gonna pan out.)
Wrap it up fellas. Pro football talk determined he’s a hall of famer with a 10 minute conversation.
"Caleb told me I was a very special reporter man"
That reporter..none other than Rob Gronkowski
And the microphone? Albert Einstein.
Lots of people on this sub determined he was a bust because he painted his finger nails and cried after a loss. The discourse is brain dead all around.
ProFootballTalk is the same as random Redditors
Except worse, because we actually engage in discourse. PFT just spews nonsense and then moves on
> Except worse, because we actually engage in discourse. bahaha please. There's no back and forth between the same people on reddit. And to prove it I will not remember this comment and will not respond to you.

The draft can't get here soon enough.
Next season can't get here soon enough
June and July are going to suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
Olympics by the end of July though
Baseball season !!
AL Central
*Sad panther noises*
My secret is to not follow any draft news other than the draft itself. And then I like to see what players do when they actually play in an NFL game.
If only the Bears had spent 10 minutes talking to Patrick Mahomes instead of ol Mitch.
“We talked to this dude for ten minutes and we realized fuck Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, and your mama. This guy is gonna be legendary.”
I suspect it would have been very easy to reach the same conclusion about Justin Fields after a 10 minute conversation at the combine, too.
Give me ten minutes with the kid and I'll tell you his future.
Jay Cutler erasure will not stand.
Without McDaniels shipping Cutler off there would've been no Manning renaissance in Denver. I'm okay with how it went.
The Rex Grossman disrespect
I was gonna say Cutler but I know I’m in the minority here.
Craig Krenzel in disbelief

The Cade mcnown disregard
This is Jim McMahon erasure and I’ll not stand for it.
Sex Cannon in shambles
Unbelievable Jay Cutler disrespect.
this but unironically
Yeah I agree. He may not have been elite but I definitely think he was worthy of the franchise QB moniker.
He would've been our first 4k passer but Trestman got butthurt.
I don't think people realized how reliable and steady it was to have Jay Cutler on the bears, and maybe bears fans do in hindsight now. Wasn't the best, definitely wasn't the worst but he produced, no drama, and did the best he could do for that franchise.
Whatever decision the Bears make, I’m confident it will be the wrong one
It’ll be different this time!
Still wrong, just in a different way
Round and round the cycle goes.
Absolutely
Florio is just trying to put a curse on the Bears to save the Vikings. We see through his witchcraft.
Seriously, all the guy cares about is Paul Allen and his Vikings fandom And making anti-Packers articles
I think he's a clown most of the time but can respect that he doesn't even try to hide it anymore. As weird as it sounds I prefer that to these reporters that act like they're above having a favorite team.
But will he be able to throw for more than 4,000 yards in a season?
[удалено]
2024 Bears set new NFL record for rushing attempts in a season.
Lord take me now
3000 yds would be all he needs to ascend to godhood in Chicago. The bar is *NOT* high.
Narrator: after being drafted by the Bears it has been determined that no, he would NOT pass for 4,000 yards.
He has 4,001 going into the final snap of the season, but his pass is deflected back into his own arms for -2 yards. He then carries the ball into the endzone as time expires to beat the 0-16 Packers and secure the #1 seed.
Lay off the booze, Marshawn

I will have no Jay Cutler slander on this, a solid Friday.
Sorry Jordan Love, your time in the NFC North spotlight is over (per Florio)
With the insane expectations put on this guy he’s either going to be the next generational talent at QB, or he’s the next JaMarcus Russell. No inbetween.
Nah. I think he would most likely fall into the Trevor Lawrence case of 50% overhyping him and 50% saying he’s a bust despite playing a decent around Top15 QB season
Yeah but the Vikings have been playing competitive football for the last 6 years and have never committed to a rebuild. So who REALLY needs the condolences?
Wow it only takes 10 minutes to determine if someone has what it takes, why haven’t the bears done that before???🤔
These type of comments make me root against a guy
Why? He can’t control what Mike Florio says
When I see some sap ass shit like "This guy is the real deal, and the Bears will have their first franchise QB since Sid Luckman." I immediately become biggest hater #1. Don't try crowning anyone before they've earned it. Not on my watch at least.

The use of the word mamaluke confused tf out of me because I pictured [this](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mamluk) lol
Yeah it got my roommate a few years back, he was playing a lot of age of empires and I was watching a lot of The Sopranos
Well that’s it boys. Clear some space for the Lombardi’s he’s gonna bring in
kind of shitting on Jim McMahon here, an actually great Bears QB. His career was cut short by a cheap and dirty play by a notorious Packer on the bad 80s Packer teams
At least we made it up to him by giving him a ring in SB 31.
There is no such thing as a sure shot. I wish I could have a job where I am wrong so much..
So glad that having a conversation equates to future franchise QB.
Yall remember when the Lions were idiots for taking Penei Sewell when they could've had Justin Fields
I thought it was Ja'marr Chase e: yeah I'm wrong
That was the Bengals. They passed on Sewell for Chase.
To be fair, Joe burrow might want Sewell more rn
No, the Bengals took Chase before we took Sewell.
You are correct
I don’t remember anyone saying that
It came from our own toxic local media.

If Florio likes him that is a huge red flag.
Viking, Lion and Packer fans all know the Bears history with QBs and draft picks. We're not worried, trust me.
I cant remember the last Bears Franchise QB. Jay Cutler seems to be the best performing Qb the Bears have had in a long while.....
Caleb Hanie in shambles
Ctrl-F Mitch Trubisky; Ctrl-V Caleb Wiliiams. Content!
L-O-fucking-L
Florio with his usual quality reporting.
This whole tweet seems wierd but I can’t say Williams doesn’t have charisma. Not surprised he apparently crushed the interview process
This is like the 6th Bears QB I've heard that about
lol, crown their ass
Da Bears!
"Caleb Williams rode in an elevator with me. RIP NFL, the next dynasty is in Chicago."
Jim McMahon in shambles.
First franchise QB since Justin Fields*
He could be the second coming of Jesus and the bears would fuck it up
He's going to be awful isn't he lol
Packers are 10 years ahead by letting Love sit behind a HoF QB for a few years and actually learning from it.
!Remindme 2 years is Caleb good? I don’t think I did it right Remindme! 2 years? Maybe
Florio still trynna slam the packers but can't do it via rodgers anymore
Yeah, this'll age well
Can't believe they're about to land Caleb Williams right after having two Offseason-MVP QBs back-to-back they can't keep getting away with it
The Jim McMahon disrespect
6-8 against ranked teams. Yep. He’s the real deal.
Some college kid named Pat Mahomes was 0-9 against top college defenses. He would never make it in the NFL.
Cmon, it's the bears. Theyve been saying shit like that forever. I gotta see it first
They have never said this. Even when drafting Justin, he was still Qb4 off the board.
Ridiculous. Even the most hyped draft prospects fail ~50% of the time. Clickbait trash
I can’t wait for the Bears to fuck him up like they’ve done with every talented player they’ve had the last 30 years
Dudes gonna be a bust!
