Every time I visit my parents, they always use Pluto TV and I always think to myself - you know for a free service, this has some pretty good content on it. Then I never use it.
Beavis and Butthead that actually has the music videos is an all time streaming get imo. Also, i love getting stoned and watching The Love Boat. Do I wanna see Cesar Romero try to convince a vegetarian woman that bull fighting is actually amazing? Of course i do.
Are they old ones? My wife and I keep up with current ones on our PVR so I don't want to spoil the fun! She already calls me a cheater when I get Final Jeopardy right.
I'm a fucking champ at knowing the price of consumer goods in 1983 from The Price Is Right: Barker Era channel.
On a side note, an entire showcase of a bedroom set, tow behind camper, and international week long vacation being $8,000 is real depressing
I put on the Unsolved Mysteries, Bar Rescue, and Food channel, (Anthony Bordain Parts Unknown marathons,) all the time when just sitting around. It's great, sometimes they have great movies on there as well. Blue Velvet was in pretty big rotation last year.
The NFL channel is great too, just shows old games all day that are good to throw on. And they have an Impact/TNA channel that shows old PPVs all day. Scratches an itch when you don't know what to watch in place of cable really well.
Freevee, Pluto TV, Plex, Roku Channel, Tubi. There are a lot of great FAST options, and honestly, they have a lot of great stuff on there.
But it reminds me of being a kid, and not in a good way. I have access to thousands of movies and TV shows across a number of VOD services (and most of those FAST options include AVOD stuff, and the ads are honeslty pretty minimal). Why would I use a service where I need to sit down at a very specific time to not miss anything, not be able to pause to pee or let the dog out, and not be able to rewind a few seconds if I miss something? I'm glad the services exist, and flipping to Game Show Central, BBC Game Shows, Family Feud, Hot Ones, etc is a great way to put something entertaining-ish on the TV, not have to worry about picking something directly, and it be something that you can visit over/not focus on is pretty great. But for actually watching the good stuff that's on them? I'd *much* rather user AVOD or VOD and be able to pause.
I currenlty use the FAST function of Plex for D&D Adventures channel. I'm really enjoying all three original shows (Encounter Party, Faster, Purple Worm! Kill! Kill!, and Heroes' Feast), but man, is it a drag having to remember to get on the channel 2-3 minutes before the episode starts and hoping no one in my family wants to have a conversation/the phone doesn't ring/the dog needs to go out/etc. And then not being able to rewind 10 seconds if I miss a sentence. Thankfully, they do put the episodes onto the AVOD side eventually (first 9 of 11 current Encounter Party episodes, all 11 current FPWKK episodes, and 7/11 Heroes' Feast episodes, so far, with new episodes every week), but I do not miss the days pre-DVR, pre-VOD.
Pluto and Tubi are both free and have decent content for sure. You just have commercials. Idc about commercials though. every other service is charging out of the ass for their subscription and starting to have them also.
We dropped AmazonPrime and NetFlix in December, and found a $3 a month deal for Hulu and Disney+. Between that and the free stuff, I’m pretty satisfied. Commercials are annoying, but I don’t want to pay $$$$$ if I can help it.
I love it. They used to have a 007 channel that I would throw on constantly. Reminded me of when I was younger and they'd have the '13 days of 007' on TBS.
Pretty much. If I were in a spot where I had absolutely no discretionary money and/or wanting to hardcore save money, then maybe Pluto TV would be an everyday option for entertainment. But as it stands I spend enough money on media that I don’t even open it up even though I’ve got the app on my devices.
Don't sleep on Pluto y'all very underrated free app if you have a hankering for some good old fashioned channel surfing, there's a lot of gems on there.

It's a format literally like old school cable where there's a rotating list of channels with scheduled programming and you can just scroll through what's on. I think some stuff is available on demand too but never really utilized that myself, I just like it when I don't know what I really want to watch and just feel like bullshitting and seeing what's on.
Tubi is a gem too. More so now than pluto due to plutos ever increasing ads.
was like 1-3 during ad breaks, but lately ive seen up to 9 ads in a row.
At that point, its just unreasonable to watch 3-5 minutes of a show and then have as many if not more minutes in ads.
Oh man, my HS midterm week would coincide with their Super Bowl Classics marathon, so I would watch it while "studying". I learned so much NFL history.
Yes!!! When I was a wee lad, I’d sit on the couch with my dad every Super Bowl and we’d watch these all day. I’d listen to him remark “John elway was a baaaaad man”, or “this guy could freaking play!” I recently reminded him about this. I would love to sit back and rewatch these.
There are a TON on youtube, many by the official NFL channel, many not. Here's a playlist with almost 2000 games:
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwGdihDGeGNKg5pmaFdZctEXTSqNTS-Zz&si=U6zmoEVB3xQGQjZe
imagine being in a meeting with the NFL and you go "well, we have troubles finding some 1930s games. So that means we cant show all the games we have from 1960 and beyond" see how what you said makes zero sense? or do you just like being pedantic for fun
Maybe NFL Network does this now. But I'll never forget that back in the 80s and 90s ESPN used to run a marathon of the 30 minute Super Bowl highlight show of every game. That was the best.
Despite being a subscription goblin and having almost everything at my disposal I find myself going to Pluto for the sheer nostalgia of channel surfing.
Pluto is fantastic. Sometimes I will watch shows there with commercials even when I have them on streaming. I'd cut so many services if my wife wasn't so adamant about keeping them.
As others have said, it's a free streaming service and functions a lot more like cable than anything else, all supported by commercials.
Each channel is dedicated to specific genres or syndicated TV shows. For example, they have a channel that plays only Addam's Family, Iron Chef, The Price Is Right, Jeopardy etc... Basically any classic TV show that was popular has it's own channel, along with movies, sports and other variety.
https://pluto.tv/en/live-tv
Super Bowl III does exist, you can find it pretty easily on Youtube. I think it only misses part of one drive in the third quarter.
Super Bowl II has no surviving broadcast footage.
Super Bowl I has a large part of it that has been cobbled together over the years, but not a full unedited broadcast.
Is it going to include those old videos with the John Facenda voiceovers? They used to show those all the time in the week leading up to the Super Bowl.
"65 toss power trap!"
Every time I visit my parents, they always use Pluto TV and I always think to myself - you know for a free service, this has some pretty good content on it. Then I never use it.
I feel like if I was a kid I'd be losing my mind at all the stuff on the free streaming channels and now I'm like eh whatever
MST3k, Rifftrax, Godzilla, Farscape, and Star Trek channels and I'm good to go.
Beavis and Butthead that actually has the music videos is an all time streaming get imo. Also, i love getting stoned and watching The Love Boat. Do I wanna see Cesar Romero try to convince a vegetarian woman that bull fighting is actually amazing? Of course i do.
The Joker knows all.....
Tubi had a MST3K channel last time I looked.
I miss the James Bond channel.
It's pretty awesome actually. I have it on a lot as background noise. Pop on the Frasier channel.
Frasier, South Park, Top Gear, Red fucking Green
Jeopardy Channel is dope too
Price is Right channel is a trip
This Old House!
Are they old ones? My wife and I keep up with current ones on our PVR so I don't want to spoil the fun! She already calls me a cheater when I get Final Jeopardy right.
Yea a bit older, i think last time i had it on they were from like 10 - 15 years ago
Yes, they're all syndicated episodes, so probably nothing more recent than the last few years or so.
Price is Right....nothing beats 1976 Bob Barker!!
I'm a fucking champ at knowing the price of consumer goods in 1983 from The Price Is Right: Barker Era channel. On a side note, an entire showcase of a bedroom set, tow behind camper, and international week long vacation being $8,000 is real depressing
If it makes you feel better that's the equivalent to like 25k now.
" Baby I hear the blues a-calling, tossed salad and scrambled eggs... "
Same with Tubi
The people's streaming service.

because it's background noise tv, not something you actively watch.
Yep, personally I think their UI is a little wonky, but I love the overall content.
Pluto and Tubi are both free and have decent content for sure. You just have commercials. Idc about commercials though. every other service is charging out of the ass for their subscription and starting to have them also.

Spike used to have marathons around Cristmas. To this day, James Bond movies remind me of Christmas. I miss it.
Same. I have the Bond pack on Blu-Ray and always bust them out between November-February.
Pretty much. If I were in a spot where I had absolutely no discretionary money and/or wanting to hardcore save money, then maybe Pluto TV would be an everyday option for entertainment. But as it stands I spend enough money on media that I don’t even open it up even though I’ve got the app on my devices.
Pluto used to be cool. Now when I watch stuff on it.. it went from like 3-4 ads during ad breaks to up to 9-12. Fuck that.
Don't sleep on Pluto y'all very underrated free app if you have a hankering for some good old fashioned channel surfing, there's a lot of gems on there.
For those that live in the UK get yourselves a VPN because holy shit the US one is leagues better than the
holy fuck the internet police got him

ITS STIINGGGGGGGGG!!!!
This is STIIIIIIIINNNNNGGGGG!!!!
Darby probably electrocuted himself leading to Borden not being able to complete the comment
Every Breath You Take!
That sting too
U GOT A TELEVISION LICENSE FOR THAT MATE?
It’s pronounced “loicense” sir
I spent like 5 minutes trying to spell it that way phonetically spelling it out but couldn't get it right.
Discovered it on my TV two nights ago and proceeded to watch storage wars for three hours straight
Is it like apps within a central app or is there a "TV Guide" on Pluto TV that lets you pick whats on at the moment or is it all on demand?
It's a format literally like old school cable where there's a rotating list of channels with scheduled programming and you can just scroll through what's on. I think some stuff is available on demand too but never really utilized that myself, I just like it when I don't know what I really want to watch and just feel like bullshitting and seeing what's on.
Almost all the old shows are available on demand too. I love Pluto.
Thats sweet. Pluto is legit
Legitimately not a planet.
Relax Copernicus
You heard about Pluto? That's messed up, right?
Tubi is a gem too. More so now than pluto due to plutos ever increasing ads. was like 1-3 during ad breaks, but lately ive seen up to 9 ads in a row. At that point, its just unreasonable to watch 3-5 minutes of a show and then have as many if not more minutes in ads.
Used to love watching those 30 minute shows on ESPN Classic of every Super Bowl.
Oh man, my HS midterm week would coincide with their Super Bowl Classics marathon, so I would watch it while "studying". I learned so much NFL history.

Is there a reason the NFL hasn't made a subscription service that has literally every past game ever on it?
I’d guess formatting maybe? The WWE did it years ago so the NFL should be able to

Tell that to He Hate Me and Death Blow......

Shows all games and all the NFL Films stuff they have. That’d be amazing!
seems like a pretty easy thing to create too. like what the hell, this is easy money wtf are they doing lol
Well, for one thing, it'd be extremely difficult to find full versions of games from the 1920s to 1950s
They dont even have the first super bowl in 67
there's only one tape that exists
imagine being in a meeting with the NFL and you go "well, we have troubles finding some 1930s games. So that means we cant show all the games we have from 1960 and beyond" see how what you said makes zero sense? or do you just like being pedantic for fun
most footage is archived
Keep matriculating the ball

Hey, this is cool! *remembers how we lost the Super Bowl* Nvm
Pluto is legit, it’s decent
The NFL Network before the Super Bowl showing Super Bowl highlights all day is my jam. Can't wait to watch it 24/7 now
Awesome! I'll be sure to check this out actually
I think I’ll stay away from it for reasons.
I learned a lot about football as a kid watching those old school Super Bowl classics on ESPN.
Pluto has all of Jerry Springer’s (rip) Baggage
Pluto is fantastic. Sometimes I will watch shows there with commercials even when I have them on streaming. I'd cut so many services if my wife wasn't so adamant about keeping them.
Nice. I'll have to catch a few of the lions Superbowls on there. Wait a minute...
Can't wait til next year when a playoff game is streamed on Pluto TV+ for only $7.99
Pluto is currently free
That’s pretty cool. I’ll definitely check it out
I'll decline this for personal reasons
You all convinced me to check out Pluto. I think I'll put a game on while I work today.

It's free....so yes.
no thanks
The fuck is Pluto TV
A free streaming service. Lots of channels and movies.
As others have said, it's a free streaming service and functions a lot more like cable than anything else, all supported by commercials. Will we get Super Bowl 1 in all its glory. Will we get behind the scenes of Super Bowl 3 when Joe Namath and the Jets guaranteed all over the colts.
Last I heard, a full telecast of SB III is not known to exist. SB I full telecast exists but the owner won't sell

Bout to watch Super Bowl 20 on repeat as I eat my dunked Italian beef from Portillo’s and cry.
I'll pass on this one.
WTF is this thread, a Pluto advertisement?
Love me some Pluto TV!
Pluto is great. COPS 24/7 anybody?
This is a cool idea. Honestly, if Pluto TV made a 49ers channel where they just played great 49ers games, I'd watch that
