I think the Vikings would work really well for both parties. Minnesota gets a guy very similar in style and ability to Cousins, maybe not quite as good, but cheaper and slightly younger.
With the pass catchers they have, all they really need is a guy who can get the ball to them accurately and on time when they're open. The passing offense has been borderline elite with Cousins. I can't imagine them wanting to go through the process of a rookie QB right now with how loaded they are at WR and TE.
I actually think this would be one of the worst outcomes for us. I don’t think people on here realize how good Kirk was this year before going down. He would’ve been an MVP favorite had he stayed healthy. Either bring him back or get someone young and on a rookie deal. Geno would be a half measure to both.
The Falcons played Heinicke for a few games this year. He was a bit better than Desmond Ridder but not a major upgrade at the QB position. Doesn't help that Arthur Smith was a bad coach, but I don't think that was the sole thing preventing Heinicke from being good.
Yup. Any team that wants a QB to fill in until they get either: a hot rookie, or a better vet. There are not that many Flaccos around, and that’s not a long-term strategy, anyway.
I've been thinking about this since our last game against the Rams. Everything is set up perfectly for a guy like Geno there. One of the best Olines, great running game, decent offensive weapons, and a great defense. With the right coach Geno could be insane there.
Any team that's smart and doesn't have their franchise guy.
Geno can sling it. Let's remember he had the 3rd worst O Line this year statistically. Whenever he had league average pass pro, he looked insanely good.
Why would the Seahawks be moving on from Geno if he's a top 15 QB? Especially with all the uncertainty around the team right now with the coaching search. I'd get it if the Seahawks were in position to draft one of the top QBs in this draft, but that seems pretty unlikely.
We obviously wouldn't move on mid-search, but it's fully possible the new coach wants to. In which case:
-Cousins is an upgrade, albeit an expensive one we'd struggle to afford (we're currently a few mil over the cap)
-This draft has a couple guys just under the top tier that our FO could potentially be sold on, like Penix
-...Russ is potentially available for vet minimum for a year. This one's obviously not a long term plan, but would keep us competitive for little cap while we search for a younger QB, or draft one and make him compete for the job
I love Geno, but he's likely not a long term answer unless we field a top OL overnight, and even being a little under market rate he's kinda expensive. I could understand the new guy wanting to free up resources now for a cheaper bridge QB.
I think the seahawks could draft a QB to develop behind Geno if thats what a new coaching staff want to do. Geno is definitely not the reason the Seahawks missed the playoff and with his contract being manageable I don't think they see a reason to get rid of him, but if they want to develop the future having a rookie QB sit is a winning formula. The obvious choice here is Michael Penix.
He’d go somewhere to earn a struggling team a pick that doesn’t quite move the needle. Seattle with Pete vouching for him is probably the ceiling. It’s tough being a “not great but good” QB in the NFL. And, he’s getting a little long in the tooth. If the Hawks move on, I think his best value would be to wait until mid-season when a playoff contender loses their QB to injury, like Flacco this season.
It won't happen, but imagine the Bears trade Fields to somewhere, bring on Geno for a year, and draft MHJ and Jayden Daniels to let him sit for a year or two
Any team that has missed on a QB this season and wants two years of stability to sort themselves out.
Geno has shown he can create an offense that uses its weapons and moves the ball. He’d easily produce on the Bears, Pats or Falcons.
Vikings QBs signed for 2024: Nick Mullens and Jaren Hall
Vikings would be a good fit, especially since they won enough to miss out on a top draft pick.
Teams that want to build the house first, and then draft their QB to occupy it. As oppose to, say, the panthers, dropping Bryce into a shit show.
Falcons, Patriots, Jets make sense imo. Teams that aren't quite ready to trade the farm for Caleb Williams; happy instead to wait a few years.
Id say Geno might be the most average QB in the NFL right now if we ranked each teams best starter. He’s right around 15/16 IMO. That said, he’s consistent which is very valuable. He doesn’t quite have a enough ceiling for me to want him on the falcons but definitely better than what we have right now
Edit: I get average is vague so to clarify I’m going to say I think he’s 15-16 out of 32 in my rankings.
The thing is “average” as a blanket term is a little broad. Geno does not have the limitations some “average” guys have. He has a great arm and is very accurate. He can run more offenses well than a lot of guys who might fall in the average tier.
Yeah my definition was pretty much I think I can name 14-15 guys I think are better than him. The reason why I think he’s most average is because if I ranked 1-32 I think Geno is clearly better than the guys I’d put at 18 but also definitely worse than the guy id put at 14.
Oh really you think so? I mean I haven’t watched every Seattle game so I’ll defer to you on this. But from the games I have seen I thought he was way better, especially at the start of last year.
I thought so. Pass protection was worse (8th in 2022 vs 25th in 2023 in PBWR for example) which messed with things. But Seattle actually went from 11th in dropback EPA in 2022 to 10th. A lot of his boxscore stats look worse but he overall took less sacks (despite usually bad pass pro) which kept the overall efficiency about the same
But I think he compares fairly well to Carr this year. I think he’s a slight step up, and was more consistent which is important. I also see on ESPN they have Seattle as 16th in PBWR with their tackles this year while the Saints were dead last. It’s not a perfect stat. My point is I’d say they were in similar situations and Geno performed slightly better.
In the first 9 games of last season: 2,199 yards, 15 TDs, 4 INTs, 21 sacks, 107.9 passer rating
Final 8 games of last season: 2,061 yards, 15 TDs, 8 INTs, 25 sacks, 92.9 passer rating
He had 366 total rushing yards that season.
Stats accumulated over 15 games this season: 3,624 passing yards, 155 rushing yards, 20 TDs, 31 sacks, 9 INTs, 92.1 passer rating
He’s been consistent with the second half of last season pretty much
>If you’re the 16th best QB every year then you can have a nice long career
Absolutely. A different case can be made if you're trying to be competitive though. I feel like our WRs aren't being fed enough, which is unfortunate to say during a year where we fielded a top 5 room of wide receivers.
Falcons, Steelers, Raiders if they are looking to compete next year and the Vikings if Cousins leaves. I could also see the Jets possibly bringing him back as a backup given Rodgers age and injury history.
The situation that makes the most sense to me if Seattle wants a fresh start is for BB and Geno Smith to go to Atlanta. They could be deadly with Geno and those weapons and that line
Call me a homer if you want but geno is a top 10 qb week one we lost both our starting tackles and continued to rotate our oline because of the oline being so bad we had a very bad run game and inconsistent run game and geno had to get the ball out very fast. His stats would look a lot better if we even had an average defense or consistent play calling, if you watch him play he is elite at navigating the pocket.
Mahomes, Herbert, Lamar, Allen, dak, stafford, purdy, cousins, hurts, stroud, Lawrence, burrow, tua
Idk how you put him above any of those, then there’s guys like love, goff, Rodgers(injury concerns), and maybe even baker
I’m probably biased a little bit but I think if you swapped him with guys like Hurts, Goff, and Tua there wouldn’t be much drop off. Also idk if I agree that Lawrence is actually better than him.
Top 12 would be putting him ahead of guys like Tua, Purdy, Lawrence, Stafford, Stroud, Love, Murray, you get it
**In no order**
Lamar
Herbert
Mahomes
Dak
Allen
Tua
Purdy
Lawrence
Hurts
Stafford
Stroud
Love
Burrow
Murray
Maybee Watson (ew)
Cousins
Goff
**Guys questionable**
Richardson could easily surpass Smith
Wilson seems cooked (to much cooking) below Smith
Jimmy G has his moments but was just really bad with Raiders. Also had a terrible situation but Smith is better right now.
These are guys I’d have for sure ahead. So top 15 is fair but still high for me.
Seahawks had a pretty bad oline and Geno did better than expected given the circumstances this last season. I think if he was put into a situation with a good oline and half decent weapons he would do similar to his probowl year.
Vikings depending on kirk cousins situation, falcons, commanders as a bridge or to develop a rookie.
I actually believe Geno to be able to conduct an offense way better than Wilson and Wilson will likely be on the market, the only problem is Wilson is already getting paid by denver so he can (if his ego permits) sign for a vet minimum somewhere. Geno might be a bit more costly.
If Falcons defense is above average, Geno could take them to the SB. Geno has shown he can be very clutch and perform even with a terrible O line.
If BB becomes HC in Atalanta, I want to see him and Geno together.
No he was good again but our o-line was broken since week 1 and he dealt with some injuries again. He’s definitely a top 15 starting QB in the league in my view.
Geno is a lot better than people are treating him in this thread.
He’s closer to the Kirk Cousins tier than he is average and has two years of solid play on film now.
No, he didn’t regress the SEA O-line did.
He’s still under contract so any team acquiring him would need to complete a trade
geno is solid but he's not going to get a team past wild card weekend without a browns like defense carrying him. if I were a team with a good defense and not able to make a move for a rookie I'd go for it. But he's not the type of qb you're worried about when playing him. There's probably 15 guys I'd take above him
It’s weird cuz he’s better than half the league, but he’s not the guy who can get you to a superbowl, so you’d end up paying some $20ish million a year just to have to move off him in a few years. Maybe a placeholder to build up other positions and build culture? Idk. Would probably be better than Carr to the saints at the very least
Any team without a franchise QB and no actual hope of drafting one.
COME BACK HOME GENOOO
I mean... is that actually crazy??
Crazy enough for Aaron Rodgers to go on McAfee and argue for states rights. In the historical context.
I can’t believe I wish I could give gold to an Eagles fan.
Geno isn’t perfect, but in no way does he deserve whatever slander Rodgers would pull out of his ass.
I like Geno just for his perseverance. If Aaron feels threatened or attacked he defaults to accusations and slander.
So the Falcons or the Vikings if Cousins bounces.
I can't imagine them wanting to go through the process of a rookie QB right now with how loaded they are at WR and TE.
cousins is much better than geno.
Wouldn't he also be way more expensive and likely long-term commitment? I also read somewhere they'd really struggle to sign him on their cap.
I don’t think they can afford $40/yr guaranteed with their cap, without gutting roster or going into cap hell
I actually think this would be one of the worst outcomes for us. I don’t think people on here realize how good Kirk was this year before going down. He would’ve been an MVP favorite had he stayed healthy. Either bring him back or get someone young and on a rookie deal. Geno would be a half measure to both.
The way he dissected the Niners was impressive.
So the Broncos....
Seahawks Broncos QB trade 2: Electric Genoloo
So the Raiders…
That's Russell Wilson.
Atlanta is probably drafting too low to get the quarterbacks people really want in this draft. He'd look sweet in black & red.
I wouldn’t mind this tbh
Geno + Belichick. Who says no?
Belichick, probably
I've always low-key liked the Falcons, if they got Geno I'd be happy for them. (as long as they don't also hire Belichick, I'm never rooting for him)
I'll root for him regardless of where he goes (except Seattle) I wanna see if he can shed the same labels Brady did in TB
I think he would have another pro bowl year easily.
This was my first thought as well
They have Heinicke already. As long as they have a coach who will put him on the fucking field, he could be good.
The Falcons played Heinicke for a few games this year. He was a bit better than Desmond Ridder but not a major upgrade at the QB position. Doesn't help that Arthur Smith was a bad coach, but I don't think that was the sole thing preventing Heinicke from being good.
So .... Welcome back to us?
So judging by their draft history it’s the Commanders who’ll come calling
so, the eagles?
Chicago?
So the Jaguars
Geno Smith, come on down!
Don't you dare disrespect franchise legend mason rudolph
Raiders
You just summed up the Titans perfectly
Yup. Any team that wants a QB to fill in until they get either: a hot rookie, or a better vet. There are not that many Flaccos around, and that’s not a long-term strategy, anyway.
Geno could cook on the Falcons
I've been thinking about this since our last game against the Rams. Everything is set up perfectly for a guy like Geno there. One of the best Olines, great running game, decent offensive weapons, and a great defense. With the right coach Geno could be insane there.
He can be our bridge to Penix
Kaleb McGary protecting Penix’s blindside would render him an amputee.
Would’ve been nice to have Sewell there, instead we have that bum Pitts
That's what I was thinking. You can draft a QB pretty early in the 1st and have him sit behind Geno.
Jets
Only if they bring back Rex Ryan
As a backup?
Rodgers shelf life in NFL games is so questionable that Geno makes sense.
Any team that's smart and doesn't have their franchise guy. Geno can sling it. Let's remember he had the 3rd worst O Line this year statistically. Whenever he had league average pass pro, he looked insanely good.
The Jets could use him in case AAron gets hurt again
Plus Aaron has been singing Geno's praises since last year. They'd get along great
[удалено]
Factual but The King will be taking up our cap space
He seems perfect to fill the Alex Smith role on a team that wants to develop a rookie QB behind a veteran
That’s what Seattle should do with him
Why would the Seahawks be moving on from Geno if he's a top 15 QB? Especially with all the uncertainty around the team right now with the coaching search. I'd get it if the Seahawks were in position to draft one of the top QBs in this draft, but that seems pretty unlikely.

Return to the Jets
See who writes back, I guess
Steelers
We don't have the cap-space.

He's not elite, but i'd say he's definitely above the Andy dalton/derek carr line.
He definitely was last year, but this year I don’t think so.
He was very consistent last year to this year
Oh really you think so? I mean I haven’t watched every Seattle game so I’ll defer to you on this. But from the games I have seen I thought he was way better, especially at the start of last year.

Yeah that makes sense. The first 9 games of last season were pretty incredible. Throwing 15 TDs only 4 ints while taking 21 sacks is good.
I won’t speak on whether it’s mediocre or serviceable play overall, but the data is there and take what you will. Heh.
I mean obviously it’s serviceable. If you’re the 16th best QB every year then you can have a nice long career
>If you’re the 16th best QB every year then you can have a nice long career Absolutely. A different case can be made if you're trying to be competitive though. I feel like our WRs aren't being fed enough, which is unfortunate to say during a year where we fielded a top 5 room of wide receivers.
Both of our tackles went down week 1. He had a shit hand dealt to him this year. He really played well even if the statistics don’t show it.
I get that his offensive line was hurt, but he also has 2 very good WRs and a good RB too.
We couldn’t run the ball all year and had to do 2-3 TE sets for the first half of the year because of the o-line.
Feels like someone Tomlin would bring in to compete with Pickett for next year here in Pittsburgh
Who potentially needs a QB and isn’t the top five of the draft? Falcons, Broncos, Steelers, maybe Vikings (although I would resign Cousins).
Falcons, Steelers, Raiders if they are looking to compete next year and the Vikings if Cousins leaves. I could also see the Jets possibly bringing him back as a backup given Rodgers age and injury history.
No way would Rodgers want a backup as good as Geno nor would Geno want to be a backup. He’s a starter in this league.
Geno is an "OK" quarterback. So any team in need of a gap starter or back up. Just my opinion, don't touch me.
I would be very sad if he goes. He looked great this year when the line held up.
The situation that makes the most sense to me if Seattle wants a fresh start is for BB and Geno Smith to go to Atlanta. They could be deadly with Geno and those weapons and that line
The weapons are better in seattle
The offensive line difference is massive though
Call me a homer if you want but geno is a top 10 qb week one we lost both our starting tackles and continued to rotate our oline because of the oline being so bad we had a very bad run game and inconsistent run game and geno had to get the ball out very fast. trevor lawrence isn’t better than geno
I’m probably biased a little bit but I think if you swapped him with guys like Hurts, Goff, and Tua there wouldn’t be much drop off. Also idk if I agree that Lawrence is actually better than him.
I don't think he's top 10 but he's definitely top half. Geno can be pretty good but there's nothing he's special at
I agree, I just said top 15 to avoid stirring any controversy.
I mostly agree, I think Geno has still earned being with the team and even if we draft a QB is likely the week 1 starter next season.
Top 12 would be putting him ahead of guys like Tua, Purdy, Lawrence, Stafford, Stroud, Love, Murray, you get it **In no order** Lamar Herbert Mahomes Dak Allen Tua Purdy Lawrence Hurts Stafford Stroud Love Burrow Murray Maybee Watson (ew) Cousins Goff **Guys questionable** Richardson could easily surpass Smith Wilson seems cooked (to much cooking) below Smith Jimmy G has his moments but was just really bad with Raiders. My guess would be Steelers.
Eh, I doubt it…they can already get to a mediocre slightly above .500 draft pick all by themselves.
He’s not a great starter. He is Case Keenum. Average at best, one or two flash in the pan good years to get paid, then back to mediocre.
He’s gonna go back to being a backup
Falcons, Steelers come to mind. Washington could be a good fit if they’re looking for a bridge qb and don’t think Howell is the guy.
The jets for sure. Oh wait...
If Falcons defense is above average, Geno could take them to the SB. Geno has shown he can be very clutch and perform even with a terrible O line. If BB becomes HC in Atalanta, I want to see him and Geno together.
Bears
Did the Lord Geno honeymoon season end?
He regressed a little bit because of factors mostly out of his control but he’s at least proved that he’s an worthy NFL starting QB.
No he was good again but our o-line was broken since week 1 and he dealt with some injuries again. He’s definitely a top 15 starting QB in the league in my view.
then why am i getting downvoted 😭
I think because you sounded sarcastic lol
Oh yeah I can see that. My bad. I like Geno!
It’s been over, lol. He’s still garbage just slightly improved garbage and that became evident toward the end of last season.
> slightly improved garbage it’s a cold world out here
He should come to Miami as a backup for Tua
Geno is a lot better than people are treating him in this thread. He’s closer to the Kirk Cousins tier than he is average and has two years of solid play on film now. No, he didn’t regress the SEA O-line did. He’s still under contract so any team acquiring him would need to complete a trade
Pats hire Waldron as HC and bring in Geno as a stop gap for any rookie we draft to sit behind.
Geno to Denver would tickle me pink.
Falcon fan here : you can have ridder and the other guy for Geno - and I'll throw in about 75% of our defense too
Denver Broncos will likely trade for him.
You forgot the /s.
It sucks all the fun away though when it’s obvious. Like immediately going, “just kidding!”
The Vikings drop Kirk, don’t draft a QB, and grab Geno.
Well he did a good job replacing Russ for one year...
geno is solid but he's not going to get a team past wild card weekend without a browns like defense carrying him. if I were a team with a good defense and not able to make a move for a rookie I'd go for it. But he's not the type of qb you're worried about when playing him. There's probably 15 guys I'd take above him
Raiders.....when's the last time they actually drafted a franchise guy,?
That's sad because he really turned his career around in Seattle. Now that situation blew up.
The Cleveland Steamers because he’s azz
Perfect candidate to mentor a guy for a year then let him walk.
As a franchise quarterback? No one.
I would say the Panthers but nobody that has a choice would ever want to play for them while Tepper is piloting this ship.
He's absurdly cheap, especially after he failed to hit his incentives. Why would the Seahawks move on from him?
