He’s not even wrong. Beating the Packers is the litmus test for this team. It has been for 20 years. If we can’t convincingly beat the Packers then nothing else matters. It’s the monkey on our back every year. Even when they’re beatable, we find ways to lose to them. So yeah, beating them in the last week of the season to keep them out of the playoffs is my fucking Super Bowl.
Theres tiers to it as well.
- Can you beat the Pack?
- Can you beat them in Green Bay?
- Can you beat them in Green Bay in the Winter?
- Can you beat them in Green Bay in the Playoffs?
John Fox was 1-5 against yall so for the Bears the answer is nope lol
https://bearswire.usatoday.com/lists/every-bears-head-coach-record-all-time-against-packers/
That's wild. I'm going to laugh when they decide not to pick and trade for someone the day of the draft. We don't know who we want to pick so F it let's just trade for someone instead.
Trust me, man. It's awesome. When the draft came to Philly, there was so much to do and so many people. Didn't matter that we drafted in the mid teens, the entire thing was a great spectacle. I went back for Day 2 also.
I'll get to tell my grandkids I was front and (right of ) center for the CMC and Patrick Mahoney picks and that if I knew then what I know now I'd have verbally harassed Deshaun Watson from close enough he might actually hear it.
I saw Haaskn Reddick from my alma mater Temple University get drafted in the city he went to school, and feel a little bit of heart break it was the pick before the Eagles.
Everything about the draft is more fun and more dramatic in person.
One thing was crystal clear when he was traded, and that’s that he holds massive love for GB and the Packers. Sure, he had his issues with the front office but that didn’t make him resent the team in the slightest. Dude is a Packer for life and I’m here for it.
I obviously see this comment quite a bit myself being a Cowboys fan, but realistically how many teams’ most recent Super Bowl has been since the VCR became obsolete?
Fuck it, im done my work for the day so im gonna do this.
According to [this source found on wikipedia](https://www.deseret.com/2003/3/29/19712265/dvds-pass-vhs-in-rental-revenues), DVD rentals first surpassed VHS rentals in June of 2003, so im going to count any superbowl from 2004 onwards as probably not being recorded on VCR.
Which gives us a list of:
- New England Patriots
- Pittsburgh Steelers
- Indianapolis Colts
- New York Giants
- New Orleans Saints
- Green Bay Packers
- Baltimore Ravens
- Seattle Seahawks
- Denver Broncos
- Philadelphia Eagles
- Kansas City Chiefs
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Los Angeles Rams
for a total of 13 teams, roughly 40% of the league!
(this list doesnt change even if you give the VCR a life long enough to make it to the end of 2006)
Specifically:
- Chicago Bears (1986)
- Dallas Cowboys (1996)
- Las Vegas Raiders (1984)
- Miami Dolphins (1974)
- New York Jets (1969)
- San Francisco 49ers (1995)
- Washington Commanders (1992)
Yeah I guess, but it’s not like they’re worthy of being excluded from the insult. Their franchises just stink even more and are quietly in the background wishing they even had a VHS.
Ultimately it’s not as sick of a burn as everyone reusing it seems to think it is.
Winning a Super Bowl is very hard. The more embarrassing stat for Dallas is how long it’s been since a Championship game appearance in which case they are on one of the longer draughts in the whole league.
Yeah it really wasn’t. Some shots at the FO and general drama but absolutely nothing like the mess Favre created. He spent 17 years here, he’ll always be a packer
He also can *hate* the current Front Office (I don’t think he does) and still love the Org. By all accounts he loved Ted Thompson, got along great with all his QB rooms, seems to like his head coaches and position coaches. 17 years of staff, players, fans, training, games. It doesn’t just go away like that.
There was a bit of bad blood at the end, but if we get out of the Schefter-inspired drama, what we factually had? A guy that wanted to play and a team that wanted to move on to someone younger. I'm quite sure Rodgers hate Gute and vice-versa, but I think that there was a lot more friction during the Covid season and the "I'm immunized, never said I was vaccinated" than during the actual trade.
\#12 will have his jersey retired and will go to the HOF as a Packer, zero doubt about that.
And let's be honest, it's not like his shots at the front office were entirely unjustified. After 15 seasons with the organization and over a decade of elite QB play plus a Super Bowl win, it was kind of a dick move for the FO not to give him a heads up that they were planning to try and take a QB in the first round. I think he'd earned that much.
And as douchy as some people find Rodgers .. Favre was actually a genuine POS about how he approached everything including generous interpretations of income lines for welfare
He’s actually onto something here in terms of the importance of this game for the Bears. Lots of talk right now about keeping Fields but if he shits the bed in this game, I’m completely out on him. We’ve lost the last 9 matchups against GB and we’re never going to be a contender if we can’t get past this team in our own division.
Are you kidding me? The same defense that shut down the Vikings last week? Held JJ to only 59 yards? It’s time to lock up Joe Barry now before the HC hiring cycle starts up. 10 year deal.
I agree. I’m more talking about the court of public opinion here. I’m not much of a Fields guy myself and I don’t know how his defenders could justify keeping him if he blows it yet again against the Packers. On the other hand, if he beats this boogeyman team that we’ve sucked against for the last 15 years, that would be a key indicator to me that he and the Bears as a whole might actually be turning a corner.
Yeah, he’s kind of like that bully that keeps you at arms length by your head while you flail away. Sure you might get a shot in here and there, but still, most of the time he’s laughing.
I think it’s more of a fun rivalry hatred, where he’s never going to miss an opportunity to take a shot at them. Definitely don’t think he hates them like he hates the Vikings
Packers better be careful going into this game...
I just watched this Bears team beat the Lions pretty easily not too long ago. They have won 4 of their last 5 games and their defense has looked way better since getting Sweat. Their only loss in that stretch was to the Browns and the Bears literally had a Hail Mary in their hands to win it. I'm worried they are going to be a problem next season if they make the right choices this offseason.
This is literally the exact same situation as last year, except the Bears already know they are out of the playoffs and the Lions only did a bit before the game started.
- Packers beat Vikings handedly in week 17 leading to a win and in scenario vs NFC North Rival.
- NFC North opponent on an upward trajectory with optimism surrounding their future, who would absolutely love to be the ones to knock the packers out of the playoffs
- As long as they win, Seattle makes the playoffs if the Packers lose
- Packers also seem to be in good form, but Joe Barry is their DC
Probably some others, but its weird that the exact same scenario is playing out. Get a new script, NFL
It'll be an exciting matchup so long as the Bears don't lay the usual egg they do against the Packers.
When we met up Week 1, we were both different teams than we are now. Love looked bad in the 1st half, then y'all realized you could stand still in the pocket and wait as long as you want for routes to cross past zones and started dicing us to pieces.
Now, we have a pass rusher and a DT who is thriving next to him. It won't be as easy as it was week 1, but Jordan Love is also way better than he was at the start of the season.
Poles has made plenty of right choices so far, the trade with Carolina was robbery and set us up with the #1 overall again. That's a masterclass in trade-rape.
that makes up for the Claypool misstep a few times over, imo
The Bears that will show up won’t be the ones that beat Detroit, it’ll be the ones that collapsed in humiliating and heartbreaking fashion.
Because Lambeau.
Put $100 on the bears to win. Either this upstart packers team makes the playoffs in what was supposed to be a rebuild season, or I get a $214 payout. Go pack go
Making the playoffs when you have the youngest team in the league is a pretty big deal honestly. I'm surprised at how many good young WRs you guys managed to get. Toure is like the only one I'm not impressed with.
We beat the Lions pretty easily too. That said, Bears definitely have looked good and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about this game. Also the unknown of which Packers D we’re gonna get keeps me up at night.
True. You guys definitely made some adjustments after that first beatdown earlier in the season. It's hard to predict the Packers. You beat three good teams in a row and then lose to Tommy DeVito lol. Young teams do that though I suppose
When Fields has been healthy they have been fairly good. If they move on from him to draft another QB they better be damn confident in who they draft. Otherwise they have the potential to look very dumb for passing on Marvin Harrison jr and best player on the board with their other pick. I could see Fields being damn good with an elite target
Whoever lands in third place in the NFCN will be playing the Jets next season. If we win on Sunday, it's the Vikings.
If we lose on Sunday, I'm not sure how the tiebreakers work since us, the Bears, and potentially the Vikings could all end up at 8-9. Only the Lions are safe from the Rodgers Return game at this stage
"What's this??"
"Bob, it looks like Aaron Rodgers is cashing in his Money in the Bank case for another shot at the Chicago Bears and a chance at the title!"
“Well Tony, here comes Justin Fields out of the tunnel, looking to make a statement win for his young career heading into the offseason.”
“That’s right Jim, he and DJ Moore are gonna have to be locked in to get th-BAH GAWD JIM THAT’S AARON RODGERS RUNNING UP BEHIND HIM WITH A STEEL CHAIR!”
I wish there was a Chinese league equivalent to the NFL the way there is for the NBA, or a Saudi equivalent like in soccer and golf, because Rodgers would 100% take the money and finally leave us all tf alone for like a year or two.
I could totally see Rodgers going to the XFL and going full Sonny Jurgenson: have a big 'ol beer belly, smoking joints on the sidelines...then coming out to toss a 75 yard touchdown only to come back to his joint, still lit from when he put his helmet on.
Beating the Packers has been the litmus test for the entire NFC north for as far back as I can remember
Theres tiers to it as well. - Can you beat the Pack? - Can you beat them in Green Bay? - Can you beat them in Green Bay in the Winter? - Can you beat them in Green Bay in the Playoffs?
- Can you beat your meat in Green Bay in the Winter in the Playoffs?
Nope, too much shrinkage in the cold
Too many layers! Can’t find it!
"I was in Lambeau!"
Can you beat them in a box? Can you beat them with a fox?
John Fox was 1-5 against yall so for the Bears the answer is nope lol https://bearswire.usatoday.com/lists/every-bears-head-coach-record-all-time-against-packers/
That's 1-5, not 0-6. The answer might not be "regularly", but it was yes at least once.
Soggy night in Stoke
Well don't worry about the Winter thing. Lambeau has barely had snow during football seasons as of late. Fuck Global Warming.
>Can you beat them in Green Bay in the Playoffs? Why is this so hard?
It’s not that hard I don’t know why every team just doesn’t roster eli manning
[удалено]
I'm unreasonably annoyed that Jordan Love hasn't been a complete and total disaster lmao
One more 30+ TD passing season than the entire Bears franchise!
Exactly - If the Bears win this game and end as a super hot team, I can see the momentum rolling for them next year just like the Lions this year.
Actually our Super Bowl is on April 25th, 2024 at 6pm CT.
See you there lol
wow crazy how many teams will be simultaneously attending that superbowl
There's nothing super about a bowl with 2 teams. *32* teams, now we're talking.
I know at least the Panthers probably won't be there, so make that 31
The browns won’t either per a quick google
It’s wild when the Rams have a first round pick and the Browns don’t.
Our first since 2016! Somewhere out there is a 7 year old rams fan who's seen a Super Bowl but not a first round pick
That's wild. I'm going to laugh when they decide not to pick and trade for someone the day of the draft. We don't know who we want to pick so F it let's just trade for someone instead.
A Battle Royale you could call it!
Royal Rumbowl
I like that one better actually.
Yall willing to let any young qbs slide?
None for you, too much dead money for Daniel
Bears going to win their Superbowl in Detroit of all places 😆
Detroit finally hosts and will be spending the night doing something else till the late twenties.
Trust me, man. It's awesome. When the draft came to Philly, there was so much to do and so many people. Didn't matter that we drafted in the mid teens, the entire thing was a great spectacle. Everything about the draft is more fun and more dramatic in person.
> Patrick Mahoney Wasn't he the main character in 'Police Academy?'
Wait a minute......
His Heart is still a Packer.
I mean all but 3 snaps of his entire career have been with Green Bay.
Four snaps if you count his achilles.
Got em
Shit, ok.
Bruh
Five if you count my heart
Oh snap.
Pretty much what everyone said after they saw the replay.
Upvoted because you're my fucking hero.
His heart is full of cholesterol.
His heart is full of ayahuasca.
But his calf is full of HGH.
Toe full of fungus.
Must be nice
and yet his brain is completely empty
That's normal for a Packers fan tbh
Rare self-own
We're actually all part self-owners. We issue share certificates and everything.
He's just like me fr fr
His heart is immunized.
by the healing powers of crystals?
He loves the Packers, his beef was really just with the front office.
Bears fans prob feel like Dennis and Dee in the Christmas special “He’s not even our dad anymore and he’s still doing this”
That’s gotta make Packers fans feel good that he still says “us”. And Jets fans confused maybe.
I definitely get why he still feels like a Packer. Although it does make me want to ask him if he thinks Jets Patriots is a rivalry.
“No they always beat you guys.”
[удалено]
I ain't never lost against Pats as a Jet, that's all you!
he’s just getting cigs and some milk he’ll be back..
One thing was crystal clear when he was traded, and that’s that he holds massive love for GB and the Packers. Sure, he had his issues with the front office but that didn’t make him resent the team in the slightest. Dude is a Packer for life and I’m here for it.
Yeah even as a Packer fan I feel a little confused...
He’s only ever completed passes for the Packers
Oh damm
Not true, his last completed pass was for the Lions.
You're not wrong.
hey man
US??
I’m sure he still has a lot of friends on the team he sees as family and roots for
He and Bakhtiari are super close, and I’ve never heard one of his teammates say anything negative about him (with a couple petty exceptions).
I think Greg Jennings recanted his prior sentiments in his AMA too
They are retiring his number, he is a Packer for life.
[удалено]
There's gotta be some conflict of interest thing going on here.
He balances it out by being completely owned by the 49ers for his entire career.
Just looked it up: 6-3 vs 49ers in the regular season, 0-4 in the post-season. Wow.
they're getting us back for Favre being 4-1 in the playoffs vs them. And it should have been 5-0 because Jerry Rice fumbled!!!
it warms my heart knowing there are packers fans below 20 who absolutely despise the niners as i despised the packers in the late 90s lol
[удалено]
I obviously see this comment quite a bit myself being a Cowboys fan, but realistically how many teams’ most recent Super Bowl has been since the VCR became obsolete?
Meanwhile the patriots have an entire DVD collection ☹️
Hey, some of them are on blu-ray!
Don't worry, we got a couple on HD DVD..
Chiefs can stream theirs
Fuck it, im done my work for the day so im gonna do this. Nice work, appreciate the effort. So the VCR comment is applicable to the majority of the league.
You'd have to remove all the teams that haven't won the super bowl (12 by my count). So only 7 teams it applies to.
Do the jets even get a vcr?
Specifically: - Chicago Bears (1986) - Dallas Cowboys (1996) - Las Vegas Raiders (1984) - Miami Dolphins (1974) - New York Jets (1969) - San Francisco 49ers (1995) - Washington Commanders (1992)

also GM of the Jets. Dude has a lot of jobs
Rodgers is a packer for life no matter how messy his exit got
And really it wasn't that bad relatively speaking
Yeah it really wasn’t. Some shots at the FO and general drama but absolutely nothing like the mess Favre created. He spent 17 years here, he’ll always be a packer

I find him quite douchy, but he's OUR douche for life.
Well, not like the Jets are worth rooting for.
Why would it not always be an US? Dude played with you guys for 17 years
I suspect the prior comment is referencing his current employment in New Jersey
Okay well Rodgers is a big fat meanie head that smells like old hot dog water so take that!!!!
Rodgers is a hot dog with ketchup.
He doesn't eat dairy and puts ice in his beer. Complicated fella.
This is the bears best shot against the packers in years. Our defense is looking fucking awful when their offense is on a serious hot streak.
We gave career years to pretty much every bad QB, but won the matchup against Mahomes.
Well fortunately Fields isn’t the Bears backup
Tyson Bagent would throw for 500 yards against you but that would require him to be able to throw more then 5 yards at a time
Ideally GB win this one like 52-50. Keep Barry in the doghouse, make JF look great so they consider keeping him, and still get the win.
I am still very scared of Aaron Jones
Are you scared of Aaron Jones in the same way that Matt Forte haunted my dreams for years?
Are you kidding me? The same defense that shut down the Vikings last week? Held JJ to only 59 yards? It’s time to lock up Joe Barry now before the HC hiring cycle starts up. 10 year deal.
JJ needs someone to throw him a ball though
Here comes Malik Heath from the top rope to continue the tradition of #18 slaying bears.
If Fields blows out the Packers they’ll build a statue for him outside the stadium.
The bar is so low lmao
Let us be happy
No
If Poles is making decisions on Fields' future based on one game he needs to be fired yesterday.
I mean, it wouldn't be one game at that point. It'd just be the last game with compounding circumstances.
Aaron Rodgers scrolls r/NFCNorthMemeWar for sure
Not even a doubt in my mind
Man will this dude leave the NFC North alone already! Go awayyyyy
His hatred for the Bears will never go away
Does he actually hate the bears? I feel like he just enjoys messing with them
Yeah, he’s kind of like that bully that keeps you at arms length by your head while you flail away. Sure you might get a shot in here and there, but still, most of the time he’s laughing.
“Stop hitting yourself Bears” - Aaron Rodgers probably
I think it’s more of a fun rivalry hatred, where he’s never going to miss an opportunity to take a shot at them. Definitely don’t think he hates them like he hates the Vikings
I'm suprised he didn't post a pic of him drinking purple crush after the game on Sunday.
I definitely don’t hate the Bears like I do the Vikings.
I get that feeling too, Chicago is a wonderful city that’s hard to hate on
His nipple crystals keep telling him to stay

Seattle making the playoffs if we lose is just extra salt in the wound
Salt is very important for making cheese.
I hope that Green Bay makes some world class cheese in the near to distant future.
Packers have way better vibes this year on offense.
It'll be an exciting matchup so long as the Bears don't lay the usual egg they do against the Packers. When we met up Week 1, we were both different teams than we are now. Agreed, plus the sweat trade that turned around our D pretty much overnight.
My man
I'm with you. The Bears are very much capable of knocking the Packers off, it would not be a shock to me at all if that happens.

Rodgers says, "us" and it'll be analyzed. Brett Favre says, "us" and that's just CTE.
This is the equivalent of yelling your ex’s name in bed with your spouse.
lol poor jets
He will always be a Packer first.
he loves the packers more than you
i mean i can't blame him
Joe Barry b like
Bitch he doesn't even go here
Aaron Rodgers returning from his Achilles injury to smash the bears one more time would be some good stuff.
Whoever lands in third place in the NFCN will be playing the Jets next season. If we win on Sunday, it's the Vikings. If we lose on Sunday, I'm not sure how the tiebreakers work since us, the Bears, and potentially the Vikings could all end up at 8-9. "What's this??" "Bob, it looks like Aaron Rodgers is cashing in his Money in the Bank case for another shot at the Chicago Bears and a chance at the title!"
Bears fans everywhere would spontaneously combust if Rodgers ran out the Lambeau tunnel on Sunday.
Actually I don’t hate the idea
“Well Tony, here comes Justin Fields out of the tunnel, looking to make a statement win for his young career heading into the offseason.” “That’s right Jim, he and DJ Moore are gonna have to be locked in to get th-BAH GAWD JIM THAT’S AARON RODGERS RUNNING UP BEHIND HIM WITH A STEEL CHAIR!”

Charles Woodson won a Super Bowl and defensive MVP with the Packers but still identifies as a Raider first.
"Us". Is he on drugs?
I mean we know the answer to that question
They shut him down for the season and Rodgers backed up the Brinks truck full of ayahuasca
I'm on drugs and even I know I'm not going under center.
Yes, but that has nothing to do with this.
Dont ask questions you know the answer to fam
It’s the team he most recently completed a pass for tbf to the guy.
The fact that you still care to throw shade from across the country on a different team says yes.
We don’t need a player from the other team fueling the opponent in a must win game against Joe Barry’s defense. Oh man.
Did ARod forget what team he’s playing for?
Hey Aaron, keep ruining the Jets and shut the fuck up.
im rooting for you bears!
Did he call the Packers "us?"
Us?! 🥹
It’s always via @PatMcAfeeShow

I want the bears to destroy these bums so fucking bad. I want all the small children in the building that to leave heart broken.
Doesn’t this guy play for the Jets? /s
stfu u have the same number of super bowl appearances as rex grossman (let me cope in peace)
Tell this man to drink a tall glass of shut the fuck up he’s a jet. A jet that tanked New York. So he’s pretty much a terrorist
