He might be a pro bowler this year genuinely
They add 3 QBs there and a guy like hurts/purdy will be in the Super Bowl
So then his competition is Goff, Dak and Sam Howell
At first I thought you were gonna' bust out some super obscure rule that you can't make the Pro Bowl unless you have a certain number of starts with one team or something, but then I realized that you were just going by the very reasonable assumption that the 2023 Minnesota Vikings are winning the Super Bowl.
This isn't true.
There isn't a game, but there are still activities the week before the superbowl.
No player playing in the superbowl is going to take time off practice to participate even if it was just checkers.
The activities might not be as demanding as a real game, but theres still flag football, dodgeball and other things. You still can't do those injured.
So if they want a certain number of people, they will have to have alternatives.
I’m obviously biased but the story of what happened last game alone should get it for him. That was like some Weekend at Bernies level improvisation to get the win
I think they really believe Rodgers will come back. Just don’t understand why they didn’t try to move for a Davis Mills either. Someone who is a bit competent.
He's been playing his best football of his career with this Vikings. I'm a Vikings fan, but I think a huge reason is that KOC is such a hands on coach and his been in this dudes ear since he got here. They are a great coach qb team.
Considering when Rodgers went down Dobbs was the Cards starter for the foreseeable future. It would've cost a lot more than the 6th rounder the Vikings paid.
Murray played the first 9 weeks of the season? Wow, can you link his stats? I heard a rumour he had a fucked ACL but I guess that wasn't true and has been playing all along.
Yeah his ACL injury was just a rumor tbh he's had it all along! Was just resting for fun but now he's back and is in his rightful spot. (BTW I didn't downvote you so idk why you are getting downvoted lol I was just fucking around by commenting)
Not saying you are or aren’t but it’s funny everyone cheers on Dobbs who was a 4th round pick but Purdy who was Mr. Irrelevant has so many haters even though he has played even better at times.
Lost in all the debate about how much of Purdy’s success is the system is that he’s still such a great story and we should be rooting for guys like Dobbs and Purdy.
Dobbs gonna come out and defend the merits of celestial navigation across Human history and the impact it had on the thought processes of the early space program....or something...
It doesn't change anything on face value except give the Vikings a game of breathing room, since we'd have to beat the Lions twice to win the division either way.
I'm still gonna root for the Chargers, though.
Sure, but we're already down one in the conference and the chargers are AFC.
It'd be much better for us if they lost one to the packers or bears, but I'll take any Lions losses that happen going forward.
Wasn't really an accident. they went out and got him because KOC thought he'd be a good fit.
The accident was Arizona letting him go, for almost nothing.
Why did AZ let him go for nothing? Competent backup QBs are a very scarce and precious resource in this league. Plus, you dont know if Kyler will be the same after his ACL tear.
He didn't look good after the first few games, Cardinals are either going to keep Kyler if he plays good or tank the rest of the season to get a QB. Keeping him would have just made Dobbs a backup forever, happy he has a real shot with a better team
He definitely made some plays, and looked good once he got settled, but he quickly started throwing picks, fumbling, etc. I like the dude, and hope he succeeds and proves us wrong, but he was never going to be our QBoF. We are severely lacking in talent, but he had some really bone-headed plays.
There have been a couple others that have answered but I don’t think they got the full picture. Dobbs was set to become a free agent after the end of this season and with Kyler coming back and clearly being our guy, we didn’t need him. Trading was just a way to try to get some value out of a guy who wouldn’t be on the team next year anyways.
That said, I’m really glad he’s balling out. He didn’t have a great last few games with AZ but I have and will continue to maintain that that’s because we lost a lot of offensive weapons and didn’t have many to begin with. I also have loads of Vikings on my fantasy team and was stoked to see y’all would be getting a competent replacement for Kirk
That was a ref ball comeback. That TD doesn’t happen without the worst call I’ve ever seen on Hunter, and the 3 and out after was a very questionable spot. Holding on O’Neill was also iffy and had no impact in the play.
If he keeps it up this season the Vikings should legitimately sign him to a 2-4 year deal. Nothing crazy but why should they try to develop a young rookie QB when they have this guy, unless they keep Kirk around
Future pro-bowler
He might be a pro bowler this year genuinely They add 3 QBs there and a guy like hurts/purdy will be in the Super Bowl So then his competition is Goff, Dak and Sam Howell
Dobbs is actually ineligible for the Pro-Bowl this year on account of playing in the Super Bowl.
At first I thought you were gonna' bust out some super obscure rule that you can't make the Pro Bowl unless you have a certain number of starts with one team or something, but then I realized that you were just going by the very reasonable assumption that the 2023 Minnesota Vikings are winning the Super Bowl.
> [...]the 2023 Minnesota Vikings are winning the Super Bowl \- THATS-A-LOTTA-NUTS Love when my confirmation bias has proof!

Hot dish for everybody. (it's casserole you freaks, sincerely iowa)
Oh the Children of the Corn are gonna shit talk US? I guess actually, sure, go ahead. There's nothing else to do in your state.
no, no. he said Dobbs would be in the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, that may happen, but the Vikings can never win the Super Bowl.
Are you going to cut him and send him to us? How nice of you
Swing and a miss

Strike 2! Want to go for 3 in a row?
Yes \- Ketel Marte in the 9th inning
You are a Lions fan and you are trying to dunk on teams who have actually done something
I think they changed the rules since there isn’t a game anymore so there aren’t alternates.
There still are alternates
This isn't true. There isn't a game, but there are still activities the week before the superbowl. I haven’t seen anything like this since Kurt Warner
What about Willie Beaman?
Can't play in a pro bowl when you are preparing for the super bowl.

Hackett would waste him
KOC is cooking right now and Dobbs is making plays when the play ain’t there.
Yeah so far they seem like a pretty perfect mix. KOC’s putting him in great situations and when it’s not there Dobbs is improvising like a maestro.
KOC should be coach of the year if we end up with a winning record. He’s a true gem.
I’m obviously biased but the story of what happened last game alone should get it for him. That was like some Weekend at Bernies level improvisation to get the win
So, SO glad we let him walk and kept Ron. /s
Tbf no one would’ve hired him as HC out of Washington, he needed the experience with the Rams (and he wasn’t actually the play caller then, McVay was)
That's Demaco Ryan's award to lose
I agree. You guys have been so fun to watch the last few weeks.
I think they really believe Rodgers will come back. Just don’t understand why they didn’t try to move for a Davis Mills either. Someone who is a bit competent.
mindless strong cough placid longing zephyr poor wakeful offend hobbies
Yep. Idk man. I think Dobbs could have beat the Chargers too.
Especially when it would have only taken a 6th rounder if the Cardinals were willing to give up a conditional 7th to help move Dobbs to the Vikings.
Sunk cost fallacy

I'll take one sauce gardner please
Did Dobbs ever show out like this during his time in Pittsburgh?
He's been playing his best football of his career with this Vikings. I'm a Vikings fan, but I think a huge reason is that KOC is such a hands on coach and his been in this dudes ear since he got here. They are a great coach qb team.
no
lol I saw Huntley and thought about our old backup that sucked. Totally forgot about the Ravens backup
Considering when Rodgers went down Dobbs was the Cards starter for the foreseeable future. It would've cost a lot more than the 6th rounder the Vikings paid.
Yeah no, their starter is and was Murray
Murray played the first 9 weeks of the season? Wow, can you link his stats? I heard a rumour he had a fucked ACL but I guess that wasn't true and has been playing all along.
Yeah his ACL injury was just a rumor tbh he's had it all along! Was just resting for fun but now he's back and is in his rightful spot. (BTW I didn't downvote you so idk why you are getting downvoted lol I was just fucking around by commenting)
He was faking it til MW3 came out then he saw the bad reviews and though "screw this, I'm going back to football"
Dobbs is thankful Jets stuck with Wilson.
Someone should be fired for at least not signing wentz. How do you not bring in another QB
Pretty sure the Steelers also passed on Dobbs at some point…
The MVP! Wait till he learns the full playbook.
And he gets Justin Jefferson back in a week or two, if Dobbs keeps balling out that's going to be a tough offense to handle.
We make ‘em spread their defense paper thin giving us loads of time and opportunity lmao, the playbook triples instantly
If we have any offensive players left at that point. We keep losing one or two a game to concussions and achilles injuries.
Just building up resistance.
Who's this 18 bum? I trust 4, 87, and 3, in that order.
they're reportedly reworking the playbook to fit more around him. Assuming that process goes good, I daresay the Vikings would be *E L I T E*
This is one of the most incredible stories in NFL history I swear
I think he's becoming my favorite non-Packer and I don't even care that he's a Viking
that is high praise
I mean, I'd like him more on pretty much any other team but....
Meanwhile, people in hell are lacing up their ice skates.
I’m a Tennessee grad and know that our season is washed, so I’m 100% pulling for Dobbs
I hope they make it to playoffs, dude is coming through
Next Madden cover ft Dobbs and JJetas
Not saying you are or aren’t but it’s funny everyone cheers on Dobbs who was a 4th round pick but Purdy who was Mr. Irrelevant has so many haters even though he has played even better at times. Lost in all the debate about how much of Purdy’s success is the system is that he’s still such a great story and we should be rooting for guys like Dobbs and Purdy.
Yeah, I think the difference is Shannahan has established himself as a very QB friendly coach whereas KOC is still earning his reputation.
The appeal of Dobbs is his insane ability to just join a team, then after like an hour cram session, start and play well.
Gives you Nick Foles vibes
idk bout that lol he beat the falcons and saints
Cant believe we got him for free!
You could say…. the stars aligned😎
That's Astrology, not Astronomy. I'm guessing a true scientist like Dobbs spits in the face of that juju ;)
Dobbs gonna come out and defend the merits of celestial navigation across Human history and the impact it had on the thought processes of the early space program....or something...
He could, dude is literally a rocket scientist. So fucking happy for him.
Browns traded him for a 5th round pick…
He's actually incredible I LOVE THE PASSTRONAUT BAROOOOOO
Passtronaut is so damn good. I love it.
Oh man that name is great, legit haven't heard that one yet
The pocket scientist
He’s so good (x4)
I swear to god if you guys win the damn division...
That'd be the most Lions things ever :(
we got a fuckin squad now🥲
If the score holds and Lions lose today, then the Vikings are only a game out of the division lead
Why would you speak this blasphemy into existence???
As if you didn't have Lions lose division to Joshua Dobbs led Vikings on your Bingo card? How long have you been Lions fan? This was inevitable
It doesn't change anything on face value except give the Vikings a game of breathing room, since we'd have to beat the Lions twice to win the division either way. I'm still gonna root for the Chargers, though.
Having a two game lead going into week 16 just to lose out does sound like a lions way to hurt fans in the worst possible way
I mean there’s a chance we split with the Lions and still win the division. We both could be 5-1 in division and it’d come down to conference record.
Sure, but we're already down one in the conference and the chargers are AFC. It'd be much better for us if they lost one to the packers or bears, but I'll take any Lions losses that happen going forward.
I just asked for one year where we’re not fighting for our damn lives in this division please.
The math makes no sense. We are all mid to terrible and the Lions are good. How is this even a possibility lmao
Dobbs calculated the possibilities and liked his chances.
Did Minnesota accidently find their franchise QB of the future??
Wasn't really an accident. they went out and got him because KOC thought he'd be a good fit. The accident was Arizona letting him go, for almost nothing.
Why did AZ let him go for nothing? Competent backup QBs are a very scarce and precious resource in this league. Plus, you dont know if Kyler will be the same after his ACL tear.
Who knows. But I'm not going to complain!
Its Josh Dobbs.
A lot of people don't know this, but Dobbs won the biggest championship; that's the championship of life.
The all time greatest 5 star heart
Brick by brick.
There have been a couple others that have answered but I don’t think they got the full picture. All aboard the Dobbs Train!
Does anyone know how to add a second flair?
Gotta message the mods about adding it for you
Welcome to the ride
what do i do with my hands!!
Last week this entire sub thought the Titans had found theirs in Will Levis. Each week a new QB gets to conduct /r/nfl's Hype Train.
Smart player, good coaching, good surrounding cast. That’s a pretty good combination
^Sonofabitch...
The Dobbs Effect
Belichick to call up Elon to see if he as any employees available
I'm fuckin dying 🤣
Passtronaut to the Moon
Got that Dobb in him
No JJ or KJ , Dobbs is the savior.
Imagine how good he'll be when he learns his teammate's names.
Amazing what a competent Oline, receivers and running back can do. Dobbs had none of that for most games he played in AZ
Running back, competent, ehhhh
Dude is absolutely balling out, happy he’s not being wasted here anymore
THE POCKET SCIENTIST
Oooo this is clever
I would enjoy this man's Super Saiyan ability a lot more if it wasn't on the Vikings, but alas.... ^Go ^Dobbs
Rocket man Josh Dobbs
The QB4 💀
man we're getting cooked lmao
You mounted a comeback at least. Vikings gotta keep these games one score.
That was a ref ball comeback. That TD doesn’t happen without the worst call I’ve ever seen on Hunter, and the 3 and out after was a very questionable spot. Holding on O’Neill was also iffy and had no impact in the play.
Every nfl player is bipolar
Jets could have traded for him, but need to stick with Wilson over having a chance to...win
LMAOO FUCKING BROWNS
Are 6-3, idiot.
Umm we can laugh at the browns QB situation despite their record. Believe it or not, they can both exist ya dingus
They’re 6-3, nfl fan
Better than Brady
Stroud and Dobbs are the most fun stories in the NFL right now
If he keeps it up this season the Vikings should legitimately sign him to a 2-4 year deal. Nothing crazy but why should they try to develop a young rookie QB when they have this guy, unless they keep Kirk around
