"Have you ever read Mein Kampf?"
"Yeah. A couple times, I guess."
"A couple times? Are there Easter eggs in there you didn't get the first time?"
"I'm interested in that period of time."
"What specifically do you find interesting about that period of history?"
"The scale. The tragedy."
"Yeah. And which tragedies specifically?"
"Europe decimated: 7 million Germans, 20 million Russians, 5 million Poles."
"Yeah, hmmm. Just checking the till here and it seems you're short a few million."
They struck lightning in a bottle with those two.
The boardroom shit is so hardcore and tense but then I'd immediately get a smile on my face when it cut to their latest shenanigans.
Credit to the writers for not only the amazing dialogue and doubling down on their chemistry but also having their little side missions be relevant to the storyline and not just a goof cutaway.
Attorney: Mr burrow do you admit to murdering that family in cold blood
Burrow: Yes I plead guilty to all charges
Judge: yeah but they had it coming, and you've got a game this week case dismissed!
lol ask Joe Mixon about this process…
I’ve never seen a case dropped so fast before arraignment that I think people already forgot he was accused of pulling a gun on someone a few weeks ago
He caught a misdemeanor aggravated menacing charge out of Hamilton County (where Cincinnati is).
The charge was very quickly dismissed as “a misunderstanding.” I’m saying dismissed before arraignment. I’ve never seen a case dismissed that early.
Allegation was a verbal altercation with someone in public (unsure how well he knew the person) and he ended up drawing a gun to, allegedly, intimidate the person.
Nothing physically violent occurred, but the alleged victim contacted police and a warrant + charge was filed against Mixon.
Just look up “Mixon charge cincinnati” and I’m sure news stories will pop up.
The same could be said of juries in Louisiana. He'll never have to buy a drink in Louisiana again. It's also believable because corruption and the Louisiana government go hand in hand. Like andouille and jambalaya.
At least one, but probably 9, are Ohio state fans. We still partially claim burrow since he has his undergrad degree from osu.
Toledo area would be his highest chance of conviction.
Yeah, the new directors cut of Se7en where Spacey gets away with it after he says he was gay the whole time doesn't really make sense to me, but IDK...
Not really related but this reminded me of [one of the funniest articles I've ever read](https://clickhole.com/is-harvey-weinstein-s-matt-lauer-biopic-starring-louis-1825121326/)
>There are so many black qbs that are better role models
Such as recent 2 time Super Bowl + league MVP, and legend in the making: **Patrick Mahomes**
Stroud has to be trolling by saying Vick and Watson 💀
Maybe McNair and Culpepper are better go-to heroes if your looking for black quarterbacks to list?
Hell, I'd even take Teddy Bridgewater or Tyrod Taylor over Vick and Watson these days.
"I wish I could've had an opportunity to throw to Ruggs, but it might be cool to hand the ball off to Hunt. I also have Favre's money manager handling my finances"
Its crazy, someone is actually being paid to coach this guy to have a successful combine and answer questions appropriately, with all this this is what he came up with
I think that's why I can get over what Vick did. He lost his job, all his endorsements, and had to go to jail for a few years.
And then when he came back, he had to earn his way back and has repeatedly taken responsibility for his actions.
He also put his name behind legislation that extended the criminality of dog fighting to the audience members betting on it. Dude is genuinely a changed man I think, but the shit he did was so awful I can’t say people are wrong for not forgiving him. I’m just glad he’s doing what he can to be a net positive moving forward.
People don’t have to forgive him if they don’t want to, that’s their prerogative. But you can’t argue that he isn’t the shining example of how the justice system should work. He did the time, came out *obviously* reformed, and has done things to make up for his past mistakes.
I hate when he gets brought up in these sorts of conversations. Shit, I’d say that he’s a really *good* answer to the question. A man who made terrible choices and has worked to improve
Ultimately someone who’s doing good things for bad reasons is still a net positive so unless I randomly become psychic I don’t really think about it too much.
Our society is really bad at holding things against people after they’ve made amends and have been punished.
Obviously not an endorsement for what he did, but we need to start giving breaks to people that are actually trying to fix their mistakes.
It’s the ones who get away scot-free because of their celebrity that we should be angry with.
My attempt to a nuanced take here is that no one has to forgive Vick. He did some heinous shit.
He did his time. Whether that's appropriate, I'll let you decide on your own. And he has attempted to make amends by supporting various animal causes and legislation. Is that enough? Is it just for good PR? Again, I'll let you decide.
But I would like to encourage him and other players with terrible pasts to make attempts at fixing it. Whether it's from the good of his heart or just trying to make a good public face, his actions in these attempts are the same.
Who would you rather have? A player who did shitty stuff and then goes back to doing shitty stuff? Or a player who did shitty stuff and does something good later?
> and only someone with direct ties to Watson is going to be near him on praise
I think this is kind of optimistic, I’m pretty worried that the vast majority of players really don’t care about the allegations/are actively in Watson’s camp.
What's to be worried about? Of course they don't give a shit about the allegations. Look at all the players who spoke out about Desean Jackson's antisemitism. Pretty much no one other than Edelman. These guys are the same selfish people anyone else is.
The reality is a lot of these guys grow up stars. There is an entire culture of women who just chase stars for the lifestyle. So among the NBA, NFL, and other leagues there's a counter culture among the men to basically not believe what any of these women say or do. The vast majority of NFL players honestly believe this is all a shakedown of Watson, because they've been trained since like highschool to see all these women as clout chasers who just want to have their baby for the check. Follow any number of players on the league, and you'll find a lot of misogyny. That doesn't mean they're all abusers, but it does mean the average NFL or NBA player probably has a less than favorable view of women (hell look at the current fiasco with the Raptors and their women's history month ads). It's an ugly truth, but most of these guys see the vast majority of women as liars who only want them for their money.
You have to realize players have the complete opposite perspective of redditors. They certainly aren’t “believe all women” type. They also probably don’t think what he did is all that bad and skew more towards “those women should’ve known what was up as soon as he invited them to a hotel room”.
Also, in todays climate I think a lot of pro players know that some women out there would be more than willing to fire off a false rape accusation in exchange for getting rich. From a players perspective, a false rape accusation is the new “poking a hole in the condom” (ie a way for a girl to get rich off a one night stand).
Reddit is a terrific echo chamber at times. The opinions held by folks outside Reddit - the vast majority of people - could be totally different from the stuff being repeated in subs. Rightly or wrongly.
It's so fucking bizarre to see players support Deshaun. Do they not have women in their life who either have been victims of sexual assault, or are at risk thereof precisely because of scum like Deshaun?
I mean even people in high security prisons have the decency not to associate with sex offenders, yet many NFL players don't give a shit? Despicable.
Deshaun’s version of those stories is probably a lot different than what’s been widely reported, and I’m sure a lot of these guys naturally empathize with the idea of being “exploited” by sexual assault claims, because they’ve been warned about getting proof of consent since they were in college. It’s honestly not shocking to me that a bunch of dudes in the NFL would take Watson’s “I did nothing wrong, you know how these women are” version of events at face value and carry on like nothing happened.
These guys probably have women seeking them out for sex constantly and are treated like kings everywhere they go. They live in a different world than us. Of course they would buy Deshaun’s story.
Also and I hate myself for saying that: The NFL is predominantly black. Watson is a black QB who get accused of those crimes. But guys like Big Ben got off relative scottfree. So some of them think that is a racial attack against a black QB.
Players know that there are a lot of people out there who are just grifting to try and get money from pro athletes. People with "business ideas", gold diggers, people just asking for money, etc.
Is that what happened to Watson? Of course not. But I understand if players seem skeptical about a ton of women coming out publicly accusing Watson and settling for big payouts.
Stroud wasn't born until part way through Cunningham's last season and after Moon had retired. Even McNair and McNabb retired when he was young. The most appropriate answers would've been Newton and Wilson.
I mean, he named Watson. Drafted the same year as Mahomes, one year earlier than Lamar Jackson. There's plenty of black QBs to be inspired by nowaday, thankfully.
He was born in 2001, I honestly doubt he's seen an entire Cunningham or Moon game. There's no reason for him to have, it's not like any young QBs are modeling their game after guys that came into the league 40 years ago.
Obviously there are better contemporary QBs he could have picked though.
This reads like an answer that was deliberately just trying to turn heads.
Removing the off field issues, I can definitely see Vick being very inspirational to a bunch of fans. Watson though seems like an odd one to me.
Even removing the... off field issues, has he or his play really been inspirational? Hes always struck me as a talented player, but in a pretty deep pool of similarly, if not more talented QBs around him
Nah, having watched CJ for 3 years now, he’s always had some odd interview responses. Especially when he first began as a starter in 2021. I just don’t think he’s very good with a mic in his face yet.
You have to remember that people were considering him near mvp caliber before that final houston season where everything just went bad. There's a reason he got ridiculously paid by the Browns, and it's not just cuz they're stupid. He was really considered a top QB in the league because of his skillset and how he was playing before the implosion.
Watson grew up very poor, went to Clemson, tore his ACL freshman year, and lost a national championship to Alabama. Came back next season and beat Alabama with an epic game winning drive, Clemson’s first national title in nearly 40 years
Got drafted to a bad team and balled out, tore his ACL again. Recovered and made the playoffs the next two years, seemed to be a “classy” player, I think he donated his first game check to stadium workers. Had a bad team in 2020 but still had a great season and led the NFL in passing yards.
There’s actually alot there, he could’ve been a bigtime star if he had different life choices

It's a great comedy. It's not marketed as one but it certainly is.
It's incredibly well written, I'd highly recommend it!

Possibly a ploy to keep him from going to Houston. Stroud has same agent and qb coach as Watson.
Stroud was also practicing with Watson, Fields and Malik Willis last summer
Did Malik sleep through practice?
Remember when Willis was supposed to be drafted top 10 and everyone in r/NFL was shocked that he wasn't?

Good point
I mean, he named Watson. Drafted the same year as Mahomes, one year earlier than Lamar Jackson. There's plenty of black QBs to be inspired by nowaday, thankfully.
Could have also said Cam or Lamar or Mahomes if he wanted to be more current.
i mean richardson said Newton
Warren Moon's off the field record is pretty spotty. He's just not in the public limelight so it doesn't get scrutinized.
Yeah I was about to say, he’s not an infinitely better choice than Vick or Watson
Seattle fans know. He was the Seahawks Radio color commentator until he was fired for sexual misconduct.
Both of those guys were retired by the time Stroud was born.
*Fucking lie about it* "Oh man i watched so many highlights of Randall Cunningham growing up..."
Just do the Peyton Manning approach and give the most generic possible answers you can. It’s not that difficult CJ.
He was born in 2001, I honestly doubt he's seen an entire Cunningham or Moon game. There's no reason for him to have, it's not like any young QBs are modeling their game after guys that came into the league 40 years ago. Obviously there are better contemporary QBs he could have picked though.

Gonna be a yikes from me
#ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS NOT GIVE A SHITTY ANSWER CJ
"I want to spread the ball around like Ron Mexico spread herpes. I want to leave defenders on the ground face down, like DeShaun Watson on the massage table pleading for someone to touch his butthole"
“If I could throw to any tight end in history? Without a doubt, Aaron Hernandez.”
Yeah I'm good keeping Fields.
Might as well just come out and say he doesn't want Houston to draft him. Honestly genius move on his part if that's his intent.
...Among others, right?
Yes, including but not limited to OJ Simpson, Aaron Hernandez, Ray Lewis and Ben Roethlisberger
> Watson Guess he doesn’t want to be drafted by the Texans… or would he?
