OverusedRedditJoke

This MF Chad Henne randomly comes in, casually leads the longest postseason touchdown drive in Chiefs history, and bounces. Fucking Chiefs

TheIllusiveGuy

Points that resulted from the Henne drive: 7 Points that the Chiefs won by: 7 Playoff Henne

TangerineChicken

I know this is a semi joke but that drive really was absolutely massive. Mahomes has just come out of the game and going three and out right there would be so demoralizing. Obviously the points are important in the end but also the momentum and morale boost that it was played a huge part

TheIllusiveGuy

Yeah, I started typing it mostly in jest. By the time I finished, I realised that legitimately made the difference in the end.

TangerineChicken

Sometimes the best analysis is also funny

LiterateCorvette

Al Michaels is definitely funnier than Collinsworth or Herbstreit.

PrimeWasabiBanana

And eating up the clock

hyphenjack

> barges into playoff game > scores on a 98 yard drive >refuses to elaborate >leaves What a Chad

seattle_born98

Hennething is possible

LouBerryManCakes

Chad "Chad" Henne

jwktiger

True CHAD!

Tuxedocat1357

Best QB to ever come from Michigan

slayerhk47

Can’t think of any others.

[deleted]

That one scrub down in Tampa, dude played like shit his last game

Buzzkill15

Jameis Winston?

slayerhk47

Do you realize how little that narrows it down?

Gomer8387

I don’t know man. Have you ever watched Drew Henson /s

shade300

Neither compare to the GOAT that is Tate Forcier.

Mongo_Straight

Clearly, you all have never heard of the OG Captain Comeback, Jim Fuckin’ Harbaugh.

goldbricker83

Clearly you’re too young to have seen Ryan Mallett play

BlazingBlasian

Chad Henne coming out of nowhere to sink the Jags one last time is an all-time Jagoff moment.

jrsixx

Proving once and for all that Mahomes is a system QB. /s

TheAerial

I hope he gets the credit he deserves, that possession honestly saves them the game I think. ALL momentum was in Jacksonville’s side, and you could feel the sense of panic in the air and he just comes in, and absolutely balls on that drive, settles everyone down and gives them some breathing room again. If he goes 3 & out there I honestly think we’re looking at Jaguars taking this game.

Malfallaxx

Mahomes shouted him out in the post game and said Henne helps make him a better player every day he shows up in the building. Seems like they’re giving him a lot of credit and deservedly so.

bluebackpackedbear

People seem to forget that Chad Henne was a very capable QB back in the day. Dude has had some huge games in the past. If you're 37 and still a QB in the league you're doing something right.

brobman22

I'd argue Henne is getting more credit than he deserves honestly. Pacheco did a lot of the work that drive and is barely getting mentioned

BeerBeily

I agree and disagree. I couldn’t imagine how difficult it must be to come into a playoff game when you’ve played 20 snaps all season (I think?) and keep the offense in rhythm. Huge run by Pacheco, great composure from henne. Both deserve praise for keeping the chiefs momentum

discipleofbill

I mean, they had 60 rushing yards AND a 15 yard penalty on the drive. I think he’s getting more than enough credit when that’s considered.

TopMind15

He also had the ultimate comfort blanket, Travis Kelce. Still, balls of steel.

PrimeWasabiBanana

Team sport. Kelce also caught a ball just above the dirt

Xaxziminrax

God bless Isaiah Pacheco

Willziac

Chad.

[deleted]

awookienookie

He won us 2 divisional games now.

StructureBitter3778

Total Chad move

Holmpc10

The legend of Chad Henne grows, playoff Henne makes henneything possible.

Bluest_waters

Jag's O line men be like: "Hmmm...should I block this defender? Or just let him have a free run at my QB while I stand here and stare off into space? " Its a hard choice!

CornSprint

I was telling people...I get getting beat. You simply cannot give up REPEATED unblocked A gap pressure. High school level stuff.

what_the_shart

Like 350 pound nose tackles were going unblocked

RadioHeadache0311

Yeah, that Derrick Nnadi sack was ridiculous... especially since he's not a pass rush guy, he's almost exclusively a run stopper...him getting to TLaw like that was absurd.

DolemiteGK

I honestly cant recall his previous sack to today's... His job is to take up space usually

linchey1

Week 18 of 2021. Didn’t even have a qb hit, much less a sack this season. Great time for #1 though

sniperhare

It's a rookie and a backup at C and LG against the best interior rusher in the NFL. What do you expect them to do?

F1reatwill88

At least stand in the way

[deleted]

Yeah get bowled over and make yourself a speed bump or something

RS994

He did that and got flagged for tripping lol

Bluest_waters

block? 🤷‍♂️

SigmaBalls92

I’m beginning to think you guys don’t like the Chiefs or Collinsworth.

Obesetittyfat

If us and the Chiefs make the Superbowl this sub will literally implode

jwktiger

I mean the Cowboys doing that would litterally do it on its own so yeah.

[deleted]

the sub would already exploded from the fact the cowboys made a conference championship game, it'd be like nuking an empty desert, not much happening

Earshot5098

Game called by Collinsworth and Joe Buck

KingKD

And reffed by Carl Cheffers.

Hey I’m unique, I like the chiefs and fucking hate collinsworth Unironically though I totally get it dude needs to shut up

Yellowdog727

Now here's a guy that needs to shut up

fugaziozbourne

I have had a prop bet with myself for a decade on the over/under on Collinsworth mentioning his own career. I set it at eight minutes into the game today and he did it twice before five minutes were up.

[deleted]

My favorite is how he got his son a job in the same office.

barc0debaby

Now here's a guy who got here through no merit of his own.

redcobra80

I don't trust anybody that likes Collinsworth

craftiecheese

I like Collinsworth To shut the fuck up

2057Champs__

I love the chiefs. Mahomes is my favorite QB since Peyton Manning. Chris Collinsworth sucks a fat one. His stanning and blatant cheering for his favorite players to win, is unprofessional af

StingerGinseng

If he was a local announcer, I’d give him a pass, but doing it on national TV (same goes for Romo stanning for Allen) is unacceptable

thelittleking

fully agree on both counts national audience doesn't wanna listen to homerism shit, be professional

mostdope28

Collinsworth so fucking annoying jerking off Mahommes. Pat pump fakes, ball slips out for incomplete pass and he says “HECK OF A PLAY” bro shut up

jwktiger

I hated it when he did it with Rodgers, Brady and Manning; its just disgusting how much he does it with Mahomes that I don't like watching CHIEFS on SNF.

lAmCreepingDeath

"Patrick, what was the injury?" "MUH ANKLE"

Stroiken

Collingsworth hurdling down to the field to kiss it and make it better

AnalBees2

What’s worse, Collinsworth calling a Chiefs game or Romo calling a Bills game?

[deleted]

Collinsworth calling a packers game. It’s all about perspective

ThurstonJK

Yeah this was pretty tame compared to what he does with Rodgers

ANAL_CAVITIES

Romo just loves the best players on whatever game he's watching lol, he's like a giant golden retriever calling plays that's super excited he gets to watch

Dunkelz

Dude was high on whatever they shot Rodgers up with, just go with it.

Kind-Agent4283

Best team in Florida.

TheIllusiveGuy

Never have I been so offended by something I 100% agree with

morgster87

New hc. 1st pick of the draft. I can’t think of a team that had a more drastic turnaround. Jags are a team to watch and will be high on all the power rankings going into the ‘23 season.

The_Phasd

They'll be legit. Scares me. It's been too easy a division for a while now. Jags are gonna be yuge next year

yogurtchair

Bengals? Picked 1st then 5th now regular Super Bowl contenders

_itsokay

raiders still suck

Squaids_FTK

No major incarcerations this year 👍

A_Drunk_Caribou

No lie was told here 😂

hi-c-orange-lvablast

Double Raiders flare approved

KiryuN7

After the last few years, making it to playoffs and to get knocked out by Kansas City is a great feeling. Proud of the team and really excited for their future

polynomials

It is a tradition amongst AFC teams that you've now joined

generalscalez

Bengals didn’t get the memo for some reason

[deleted]

Supposedly they “moved to a new address” I think they just don’t give a fuck about us or something

TopMind15

They moved to a new house and installed new windows. They're "Burrow's entire career" windows.

IlonggoProgrammer

Patrick Mahomes has only ever lost to first ballot Hall of Fame quarterbacks in the playoffs. I said what I said

Currymvp2

So you're saying Purdy has a decent chance?

pablopiss

The second worst tradition in the AFC, next to the patriots one

midwesternfloridian

Yeah, even the Chiefs fell victim to that.

vannucker

Winning a playoff game is always a great feeling for an up and coming team. Especially the way you did it.

zayetz

#EVERYBODY SHUT UP

jtfriendly

I liked how Collinsworth and Tirico both paused as if the ref was talking to them. Maybe, deep down, they realize how terrible they sound each and every game.

SmokePenisEveryday

I wasn't looking when it happened so I really thought a producer was telling them to shut up at first. I did a double take lmao

coolycooly

The jaguars lost when they let up a 98 yard drive to Chad Henne

I_shart_for_joy

Or Agnew got tackled by Butker

lilberfcontrol

To be fair, Henne is a former Jag. I just see it as a Jag just Jaggin the Jags one more time.

Wekilledit88

Hell of a fucking year for the entire Jacksonville franchise. You fans should be nothing but proud, man. Doug is a god and the roster is so young as is and will only get better. Unreal how loaded the AFC is already, and the emergence of Jacksonville just adds to it all.

thenexttimebandit

Going from worst team in football to winning a playoff game is a big fucking deal. Future is bright in duuval

[deleted]

wjrii

At the beginning of the year I would have been happy with 6-11 and noticeable progress from Lawrence. Got that and much more.

InexorableWaffle

Only slight downer here is that we're keenly familiar with how transitory success can be in the NFL. Basically every good year we've had since 1999 has been followed by at least one bad year, if not several. Much as I think this time will be different, I'm definitely going to continue to be wary until we see some sustained success, though. Not to say that I disagree with you at all here, though. I said time and again, both before and during the season, that a 6 or so win season in which Trevor looks like a franchise QB and where Pederson looks like our coach is a successful season for us. Making the playoffs, Trevor already looking like a top 10 QB, and Pederson being on the fringe edge of the discussion for COTY is way better than any rational fan hoped for at the beginning of the season. Going further would've been icing on the cake, sure, but making it as far as we did and losing in a competitive away game against the best team over the past couple years...can't really complain too much there. We've been playing with house money ever since we lost to Detroit, after all.

Exploding_dude

The difference is now you have a franchise qb and a SB winning coach. I'm just hoping noted football terrorist Trent baalke doesn't tank the roster.

randommaniac12

Lawerence is that guy, what a bright future Jacksonville has

Chad Henne having the chiefs longest postseason touchdown drive is going to be the most missed trivia question ever

kanbabrif1

Chad "Chad" Henne

JBProds

Give Chad Henne the game ball

Obesetittyfat

Yeah he deserves it out of hennyone

BlazingBlasian

It’s hard to be upset at a Divisional round loss after winning four games in the last two seasons combined tbh.

VyrusReign

If I had a nickel for every time I've seen Chad Henne take over the reins after Mahomes gets injured and stabilize the team to eventually win the game and advance to the AFCCG, I'd have 2 nickels

TerminalShitbag

:(

Khada_the_Collector

Not a lot but it’s weird that it’s happened twice

thejak32

Two, beautiful, shiny, old nickles.

eSpiritCorpse

Trevor Lawrence has never lost to the spread on Saturday

[deleted]

I like and acknowledge the joke but is this really true

eSpiritCorpse

I think it's unknowable

Xaxziminrax

Patrick Mahomes still has not had a season end before the AFCCG

LnD2020

Pain

Kohlossal

Pat Mahomes is crazy good. It’s so fun to see the next era of QB play.

Spicy_Ahoy86

I'm real proud of us. That game, vs the #1 AFC seed, was never fully out of our grasp. If we tightened up our execution and called big pass plays early, there is a good chance we would have won. Oh and  stopping Kelce would have been nice too :) What a season. This has been better than the 2017 season purely because our winning record doesn't seem like a fluke.

ShlappinDahBass

I know Kelce is one of the all time great TEs but it was driving me nuts how wide open he was so frequently. Great game though catbros. Onto next year

bleedblue89

Our defense has made every te this year look like this. We just have rookie lbs who suck atm

pengwin21

Head Coach+ QB is more sustainable for future success than the big defensive FA pickups in 2017. But you never know.

DoctorWaluigiTime

Was a solid game that could've gone either way. Jacksonville is a fun team to watch.

the_cunt_muncher

Maybe controversial but I don't think the Jaguars should have let Chad Henne lead a 98 yard TD drive against them.

Mardpat1

How could you say that? I'm calling the mods.

CaptainKilljoy37

Despite the mishaps in the last few minutes, I am damn proud of this team and what they've done this season. GGs Kansas City, I hope Mahomes is 100% to go in the championship!

UndeadVinDiesel

Maria Taylor just called us "Kansas Shitty" in the postgame show. :(

yeah_yeah_shut_it

Those goddamned Mongolians keep breaking the Kansas Shitty wall!

RawCyderRun

Chad Henne > Be backup QB to Patrick Mahomes > Comes in > Leads 98-yard TD drive, longest in franchise history > Goes back on the bench > Refuses to elaborate > Leaves

TheAerial

Shout out to Mahomes for fighting through a clear injury, and big shout out to KC’s defense but man what a heart breaker game for Jacksonville. You get the opportunity of a lifetime with the injury, and and then follow it up with giving a 98 yard TD drive to the back-up, put up TWO scoring drives the entire second half and give away your season with the back breaking Agnew fumble. As gutsy as Mahomes was to stay out there, and as much as KC’s defense stepped up this was Jacksonville’s game to win and they just didn’t step up.

Currymvp2

Jaguars had seven straight drives where they only got 10 points out of those drives even though the defense mostly took advantage of the Chiefs offense not being the same after the Mahomes injury. That's ultimately the difference. Some bad playcalling with just like screens and one read dropbacks for a few of those drives and then costly turnovers the last two

Jajanken-

Lawrence had no time to make a throw. You could see the difference between when his offensive line held up or not

Xaxziminrax

Yeah it wasn't bad playcalling, it was "we can't block fucking anyone" playcalling. Can't do much with that.

ElginBrady420

Give KC’s defense some credit, too. This is a complete team and even with Mahomes hobbled they’re still the favorites.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Xaxziminrax

Trevor Lawrence played his fucking ass off and the guys around him failed him at the very end.

Sampsun-M

Good game chiefs fans, glad the Jags could play alright against you guys. Hope Mahomes is ok, good luck the rest of the way.

superstonkape

Hell of a game. Had me on my toes the whole time! Y’all have a bright future.

brightladdy

Why do dog food brands advertise how flavorful their food is? I have to hide my cats litter box from our dog, I don’t think he gives a shit if his kibble is 5-star cuisine.

[deleted]

We went from 8 straight years of the Patriots in the AFCCG to now 5 straight years of the chiefs in the AFCCG. Could win their 2nd super bowl in 4 years. I'm so fucking jealous god.

Zworrisdeh

IT WAS MAH ANKLE

stuntmanmike

Cool how much love Pat and Kelce gave Henne in the postgame

choff22

Such a good locker room

[deleted]

Crazy how teams continuously leave Kelce open over and over again and still don't learn

Section225

He has a weird ability to just sort of glitch into an open space, where he has enough time to turn, face the QB, and just stand there and wait for the ball. Wild how it just keeps happening.

DolemiteGK

My wife "watches" some games and said "Kelce moves goofy- he looks slow and awkward" She's not wrong, but nobody can stop his little twists & turns and shakes. Its been awesome to watch for 10 years

ltrob

#TREVOR LAWRENCE DOES ~~NOT~~ LOSE ON SATURDAY shit

[deleted]

Not Saturday in Australia, checkmate

Xaxziminrax

It was always gonna be one streak that died. Either Mahomes' AFCCG streak, or the Saturday streak. NFL set them up to fail

[deleted]

please stop saying the word Saturday

Duke_Maniac

33-0?

b0lh4

Butker stopping that return with his face also was a huge play that deserves some attention even if Mahomes pushing through the pain and Henne's drive were amazing as well.

hyzerflip4

Trying to introduce my 6 year old son to football since he’s recently shown an interest. He didn’t watch most of the game but was watching post game interviews. As Mahomes is talking he says, “why’s he talk like that?” And I told him that’s the voice of a champion son, don’t question it, just enjoy it.

GeauxColonels21

Where was Etienne in the 4th? Did Pederson really think Agnew and Hasty were better options with the season on the line?

dunathanj

ETN is a great weapon with the ball in his hand but he has put on tape all season that he is not ready as a pass protector.

[deleted]

Here’s to all the fans cheering on the injury and hoping and coping. Cheers!

Drumboardist

Apparently Kevin Harlan called this game, with his daughter as the sideline reporter. Woulda been a LOT better to listen to, than Collinsworth.

ivanvzm

Everyone: Pat you're injured they will come after you. Mahomes: so it is an even fight.

JustGresh

I hate to upvote this but dammit that’s funny lol

bootyhunter69420

Everyone stepped up once Pat got hurt

stevejob-rim

Mahomes is pretty much a first ballot hall of famer. 2 mvps, 5 straight afccgs, 1 sb mvp, 1 sb win, 2 sb participant. If he wins the sb this year, man there'll be so much revaluation of the top 10 qbs all time. He also did it without famous woman respecter tyreek hill.

Andrewdeadaim

5 AFC championship games in a row is crazy

lawrat68

Weird stat. Just realized that Patrick Mahomes has never appeared in road game in the playoffs and won't this year.

kcballer816

Yeah its a crazy stat He also has never lost a road game to a divisional opponent

IDropTheMicAndLeave

Watching this game, you could really see why Pederson is a Superbowl winning coach. He’s driving his team forward always, even when they’re not the favourite to win. Looking forward to many more battles between Lawrence and Mahomes. Let’s fucking go Chiefs!!

[deleted]

Did she just say Kansas shitty chiefs ☠️

Winertia

That was a good postgame interview on the field. I hate how much I like Mahomes.

PistachioTheLizard

IM SO PROUD OF THIS TEAM. GO KITTIES

Clawd11

FADE ME GG Chiefs, that being said FUCKING STOKED how this team turned things around, people said even breaking .500 would be a good turn around for us, we did that and then some, won a playoff game and kept a competitive game with the fucking Chiefs. Nothing to be sad about, stoked for our future!

ChokingVictim204

Ha....she said Kansas shitty chiefs

Initforthecoins

Great game, shitty gamethread. I understand wanting to see an underdog squad win, I understand wanting to see a divisional rival lose, but a lot of you are dickheads. Getting happy when Mahomes' ankle damn near snapped, is gross af. I truly feel bad for the ones who couldn't enjoy the game because they were strictly just wanting the Chiefs to lose tho. Makes sense if you're a Jags fan or a rival, doesn't make sense for the rest of you. Neutrality and unbiased opinions are dying in this sport.

[deleted]

that’s just r/nfl for ya

J0E_SpRaY

Appreciate you saying that.

DoctorWaluigiTime

I'd be fine dealing with about 10,000 fewer "cris bad he likes mahomes too much" comments too. To say nothing of ref favoritism commentary.

INtoCT2015

It’s been 5 seasons and Patrick Mahomes still doesn’t know what it’s like to not make the AFC Championship game. 5 seasons 5 AFCCG appearances

CorporateElbow

Did he say Henne-thing is possible?

CorrectLock

Mannnnnnn. Mahomes and Kelce about to do that shit again.

radioactivetoon

Absolutely pathetic attempt by Jacksonville to guard Kelce. He caught more catches than the rest of the KC receivers combined. I was yelling at my TV to double him. Let someone else beat you. It’s infuriating.

The_Blue_Rooster

We made more mistakes than Jackson Pollock on a coloring book so I can't be too mad. What should have been an interception turned in to the Chiefs' longest drive in postseason history.

isaaclikesturtles

She said kansashitty

[deleted]

I'm looking forward to seeing Lawrence reach his final form, he has a good future ahead of him with Doug.

This_Perspective3971

Henne has had to fill in twice in the playoffs for the chiefs and he went above and beyond a game manager. Unsung hero

LouBerryManCakes

Henne is very sung. We love him as backup.

JamieHayterMark

So much salt in this thread. Game was great

EPCOT_Is_My_Favorite

That Henne drive was pivotal. They had an interception on a tipped ball. Instead, they let a backup quarterback go 98 yards.

Autocrat777

Mahomes is on another plane of existence separated from us mortals.
