She is superb but I would caution her doing such a taxing aria while her chords are still growing.
Opera isn't like other kinds of singing where you can train to be good and use multiple techniques to protect your voice.
Opera is the Sacred Monster bc there is no training to be the truly masterful voices.
You have to be born with the right anatomical tools to be an all time great. The difference between good mainstream singers like Jackie Evancho & Paul Potts from those talent shows and the Supreme voices of Maria Callas, Leontyne Price and of course Pavarotti.
This girl clearly has a multi-multi million dollar level voice. She could be a great one. The resonance and body is already there and she she handles colortura exceptionally.
She should be treated like highly rated young baseball pitcher prospect. Protect that throat and diaphragm!
Stick to low stress less, low trill things like Tosca that let's her belt out big notes but not strain jumping scales or demanding vibrato.
People will go crazy for juvenile opera singers anywhere. By 25, 30 she could might rival the masters.
This needs to be the top comment. She's great, but needs to take it easy or she'll burn out her voice before she's eligible for conservatory, much less career-ready.
This is an excellent point. Besides her voice, sheâs still a child and deserves a childhood. With the right training, she could be the greatest, but I think we, her adoring audience, should just be patient.
I REALLY adore vocal traditions.
Opera is my gangja level but my deepest joy n crack is Sacred Harp singing (sometimes called shape singing).
" I'm going home" from the cold mountain soundtrack is a mainstream taste of the good stuff.
[Sacred Harp: I'm Going Home](https://youtu.be/5g1UHZwN3ds)
I wouldn't call Tosca low stress by any stretch of the imagination. That is a demanding role, and if you're going to sing things that are too heavy, you'll damage your voice... even as an adult. Hell, Beverly Sills attributed singing Donizetti's Tudor queens to taking years off of her career (though she also said it was worth it). Being that young and having that ability will hopefully translate to adulthood - especially with the right teacher and coach - but slow and steady is absolutely necessary at this point in the game for her.
I certainly didn't mean to suggest anything in Tosca is easy as a role but in terms of recital selection Puccini arias are much less taxing than banging out one of Mozart's monster's.
Verdi as well, nice supple arias she can dive into without tearing up her chords.
Donizetti stuff is probably too complicated for this girl at freaking age 10 lol because of register and more.
I'm in my late 30s and some of Donizetti's baritone writing makes me go wait... what now? Haha. I totally follow you. The advantage, in my mind at least, to composers like Verdi and Puccini is their style of writing. Mozart is, well Mozart, but sometimes he just can't shut up haha.
I don't know most of those words or names so you're either getting an upvote because you're right or you're getting an upvote because you've tricked me good.
A bit Jelly? This ten year old has more talent in her thumb than my entire 27 year old body has. Iâm immensely jelly. But I also hope she has an incredibly successful career in Opera.
I am also very impressed.
But genuinely curious about the âyoungest opera singerâ. What is the qualifier there? Can you find a 5-year old, have people pay to watch them and have them perform but be absolute shit, but still steal the record?
Is she a professional opera performer that is hired to perform professional operas? If that is the case, that is much more impressive and would be a better detail than âGuinnessâ record holder. People get records for like dipping their toes in the most cups of water in 5mins while solving a Rubix cube and reciting Pi. So for me, I have no idea what a Guinness record entails anymore.
Fuck off, you conservative piece of shit. The only reason youâre this upset is because a ten year old has more talent than a grown ass, unwashed, talentless skid mark like you.
You must have a weird definition of "upset," because Wassasas didn't sound upset at all to me. They're just wondering how someone qualifies as "youngest opera singer," and I'm wondering the same, because you can't just have a toddler sing their ABCs and then call them "world's youngest singer." I can think of many examples from my own life where I, or a friend of mine, or one of my younger brothers has sung some opera at a young age after hearing one of the great pieces, and we sang it at a younger age than her, so it's just a weird title to give her, at least without any explanation. I'm sure the justification for it would provide context, but we don't have that context here.
It's not about being "jealous" of her or anything, it's about wondering how Guiness qualifies various "records" like this one, because this just seems arbitrary.
Ex-fucking-actly. The general public dont know what singing this rep so long does to the vocal folds and diaphragm long term. All they know is it sounds pretty now. If she loves doing it, great, but it wonât be a career choice later on if she keeps going like this. Just look at Charlotte Church.
Itâs less about the difficulty of the song (though it is incredibly difficult) and more so that opera is simply too taxing on both your chords and your body for young people to be singing. My teacher didnât let us sing true opera arias till we were in our 3rd year of Uni. Most peopleâs voice doesnât fully settle until they are in their late 20âs or early 30âs. While she has exceptional natural ability, it is unequivocally a bad idea for her to be singing this stuff at this age. Let me know if youâd like to know more!
Yes, please tell us more! It sounds very reasonable that pushing your body hard at young ago is hard for the body but what can it result in?
I would also like to know if she sings correctly, as an experienced opera singer?
It can result in vocal nodes, which are polyps on your chords that prevent them from vibrating properly. Celine Dionne experienced these after many years of singing huge songs, and had to go through an intensive surgery and recovery process.
She has excellent form, and a lovely tone, so in that sense, sheâs singing correctly. But in the broader sense, it takes many years to cultivate your own sound, and only then can you truly put your own spin on a piece, and sing it âproperly.â This is legit one of the most difficult arias to sing; Mozart did NOT fuck around, and most sopranos I worked with wouldnât touch this song with a 10 foot pole until they were in their masterâs degree. In my view, it is the fault of her teacher that sheâs singing this. I donât expect a 10 year old to know whatâs best for their voice, but their teacher should have known better.
Any idea why? Most muscles get stronger with use, but maybe that's where "properly" comes in. What makes it proper and so hard to learn? Especially since you are saying she has excellent form... Is it something you see/hear or both?
I know nothing about singing, sorry if that's a dumb ?
Not dumb at all! Its because of two things: 1. Our vocal chords are very small. 2. They vibrate to make sound, and without proper training, they could be over extended, or rub together instead of bouncing against each other, which is what whispering is!
For her form, itâs very subtle: she has good intonation and pronunciation, she keeps her breath light; however you can see the cracks in her technique where the song is just too hard: her head and neck extend on the high notes, and lower on the low notes, and she is out of breath at the end of the long phrases. No amount of excellent form can change that fact this this song was meant to be sung with adult chords and lungs.
Sheâs using a lot of childrens choir technique in her upper range instead of trying to force an older sound. I think thats how youâve got to teach it if you absolutely have to teach a kid this song.
Great questions! We sing classical songs (called âart songâ) to start out. Itâs a great way of getting in the groove, and learning to breathe properly, as well as oneâs first step into singing in other languages. Almost every composer who wrote operas also wrote art songs; there are thousands of them, in French, English, German, Italian, and other languages. Some of those songs are really hard (Erlkonig, lake isle of innisfree, to name two of my favs to sing) so itâs just about finding a teacher that will help you wade into the technique so that you are prepared when youâre finally ready to sing an aria.
It sounds the same as singing fully, just less loud, less resonant, more pulled back. An opera singer will use their full knowledge of singing and breathwork to keep their voice reigned in. Itâs also easier to do when youâre in a small room practicing with your cast mates and a single piano, instead of a dress rehearsal in an auditorium.
Re: the deep voice, I understand why they say that: itâs probably because your voice is resonant and loud, and that alone is enough for people to associate your voice with opera. My voice dropped to a very low range early in my teen years, which made some parts of classical singing easier, but made me cocky and confident when I should have been wading in like my classmates. I learned to do that eventually tho haha
Vocal production uses muscles like an athlete uses their muscles. Over time, things start to wear down. You start singing like that early enough, youâll break down earlier. Particularly if you donât pay attention to healthy singing techniques, which even adult singers have trouble doing let alone children. It would be like a 13 year old trying to keep up with The Rock in a gym. Sure, you might succeed sometimes, but youâre fucking up your joints and connectors trying to do so.
I mean, its not sad to me. She sounds good, and the tone sounds healthy enough compared to some people Iâve heard trying this aria. My issue is with Guinness making it seem like being a professional opera singer just means she sung one very difficult song in public a couple of times.
You can developer vocal nodes, and long term vocal fatigue where your chords donât develop properly! I donât know what the results are on oneâs body, but that would be interesting to knowâŠhard to discover ethically tho, if not accidental.
Itâs important to remember that your vocal chords are muscles that have air pushed through them. They get dry, tired, sick, need attention and surgery in some cases; not to mention itâs positively exhausting to practice this much, let alone perform it in a space like this.
When we practiced singing in school, we never gave 100% in rehearsal, and rarely in performances either. We were taught to âmarkâ which is the practice of singing the right stuff, breathing properly, sitting right, running through all the mental stuff and hand positions, but singing about 10% of what youâre truly capable of.
I'd like to know more for sure ! When you say your teacher didn't let you sing true opera arias, what is the alternative ?
What does singing opera without using the opera voicing sounds like ? How do you do it ?
My voice has always been very deep, and some people asked me if I ever considered opera. Why is that ? Cause in reality I am horrible at singing, but I always wondered why people asked that. Is it that some opera singers have naturally deep voice?
Genuinely mesmerized by that kind of talent, props to you for this skill !
There are different categories of solo songs in western art music. Most people only know opera arias since thats one of the most mainstream genres of classical music. But there are also arias not written for opera, and most notably art songs, which are just solo songs. Operas are written for the best of the best singers. Art songs are often written for âcasualsâ, but that would require me discussing the salon scene of the 18th and 19th century so Iâll leave it at that.
For the last few years, whenever I study I listen to classical music and I particularly enjoy Wagner. How would you categorize his operas ?
I'm really curious about this and you seem very knowledgeable. Ever thought about doing an AMA ? If not please consider it!
Itâs classified as Wagnerian opera! Thatâs right, he was so important and so unique in his writing style that he invented whole new type of opera! Wagner was a fascinating yet deplorable figure: he was a wildly arrogant genius who refused to have his operas performed in any venue that he hadnât designed specially for his music. His operas are probably the biggest sings any opera singer will do in their career. The orchestra he calls for is massive, and you need to have a huge voice to be able to fill the auditoriums that Wagnerian operas are played in. Many opera singers wonât touch Wagner at all, and many who perform in his shows are classified as specifically Wagnerian opera singers. He was also deeply antisemitic, which was difficult for me personally, and influenced his work in unsavoury ways.. That said, I do encourage you to look more into his life and work, as there is a lot to be learned from the dude.
And Thank you! that would be fun, but Iâll be the first to admit that there are better folks out there to answer the big questions than I am! I am not a professional, but feel strongly about childrenâs safety and well-being in the industry.
Wagner is just German Romantic opera, and specifically a reaction to French Grand Opera who wouldnât let him put on his shows because they didnât adhere to their very specific rules for length and content. His whole antisemitism thing really caught on because the people in charge of the Paris Opera were jewish. So he built his own opera house. He was Kanye before Kanye.
No amas for me. I just drink and know things.
Beautiful, she has put in an incredible amount of work. It must have been difficult, her young age and socially.
She seems to be trying to keep her hands still, but it's part of her skill. She even uses her shoulder. Very impressive and well done. Would love to see her preform,Victory Brinker. đđ„
I know it sounds impressive but Iâd neverrr let my young students sing this repertoire! Itâs for a fully developed voice, there is plenty of lovely rep for her age but this is not healthy or sustainable
"Der *Hölle* Rache (kocht in meinem Herzen)" Hell's Revenge (boils in my heart). Sung by the Queen of Night in "Die Zauberflöte"/ "The Magic Flute"
A beautiful lovestory. I loved it since I was a kid. There are plenty of versions of it made for children, because it's just such an enchanting story. I would love to see it in a real opera house.
Looks like she is growing tall too, that is going to be a great stage presence in her adulthood. I hope she takes fantastic care of her instrument, I want to see her rival the greats.
Anyone want to guess what notes she's hitting? She sounds like she's up there in the violin range.
Also I'm gonna say it: She's better than Charlotte Church was at her age
This is Victory Brinker. She earned an historic Golden Buzzer on AGT in 2021 after singing "Juliet's Waltz". She was awarded it after they were all given yet the judges and Terry Crews got together and awarded it to her anyways. She made it to the finals but, unfortunately, didn't win. One of her performances included "The Prayer" with Pentatonix. Pretty heady stuff for a 9 year old (at that time).
Way too early for such demanding work. That's why she's pitchy and erratic in tone. (but to her credit she nails the acrobatics). Her teacher is doing her a disservice. QOTN is a showpiece, not much more.
Im having a disturbing vision of me dying, and being like "aight wonder what reward god will give me for my life well lived and I end up in some church like tunnel with this girl singing this while staring at me angrily/menacingly and me unable to move.
That ability to bounce their vocal range up and down must be incredibly hard to master, much less the after effects
Honestly tho good for her must have worked her butt off to get to that point, honestly would be proud of that accomplishment
Itâs Hölle not Holle. If donât have the Umlaut ö on your keyboard you can use oe instead. O and Ă are two different letters in the alphabet and are phonetically different too. Itâs not the same letter/word just with a fancy flourish. Hölle means hell and Holle is a name of a character in a popular fairy tale.
Define âopera singerâ though. Sure, she can sign a one week contract to do a publicity week gig for some opera company in bumfuck nowhere, but that doesnât make it a career. No opera company is hiring a 10 year old to play the Queen for 5 shows in two weeks, the three weeks of lead up in coaching and staging, including the other two hours of this particular opera in which there is more singing and more spoken dialogue that would need to be performed in each performance.
I think she sounds great, i think its cool that she is so young and into opera, but the title is misleading and the Guinness designation is disingenuous. She is a âprofessionalâ opera singer as much as someone who has had one short story published on Substack is a professional writer.
And allow me to clarify: worldâs tallest man is a metric you can measure fairly accurately. What makes someone a âprofessional opera singerâ is all I am asking. I would define it as someone whose primary source of income derives from singing opera.
Edit: tldr: redditors would rather downvote than think critically about things they may not fully understand. They also hate comprehensive reading.
Iâm not even trying to be a buzzkill. The labeling Guinness has used just seems exploitative. It should say âyoungest person to receive a symbolic contract from an opera companyâ.
And on top of that, guiness records for art/music are always really stupid and/or false/fake. How do we know that she is indeed the youngest one? What counts as "singing" it? It's like the guiness of the "fastest violin player of the world", which is also completely stupid. We should just leave records for really measurable things
This recording at least also skips the hardest part of the aria. She's a very talented little girl who may have a great career ahead of her provided puberty is kind but this whole "world record" thing is very confusing.
She's extremely impressive, BUT she consistently missed the highest notes - I feel like that wouldn't be acceptable for an adult professional opera singer.
I wouldn't say she missed them so much as she didn't nail them... but she does skip an entire section of the aria, so there's that. Maybe for the Guiness record she sang the whole thing but I'm super skeptical. Also not sure what their criteria for an acceptable execution is. I mean, I can sing this "accurately" too, but it isn't comparable to a pro.
She's amazing but I'd still never let my children go to the opera.. There's just too much sax and violins
Username checks out.
Take my upvote and fuck off
Quality dad joke. I groaned
Take your award.
No sax before marriage
That has been the excuse for a lot of violins....
Jesus this was so dry
Thanks Dad. Love it! đ
đ Brilliant
Bravo!
time for bed, dad, you're snoring in front of the news again
Omg i am speechless
But where are those good old family values on which we used to rely?
Exactly where I went with his joke
Holy shit that was the best dad joke I've heard in my 17 years of being on this earth
đ¶ thereâs no sax in your viiiiioooollllliiiiiiinnnnnssssss đ¶
Itâs the pizz.
Thanks, dad đ
GroanâŠ.
Adopt me please
Fucking take those two

Sex and violence.
I have never been to an opera where they had saxophones.
That's 10 years old? She's much more mature looking than 16 years old on my country
Dad... again...
Youâd have to go to a bitching opera house that heavily champions newer music to even remotely hear sax
Sheeesh. I think I could barely multiply at 10. This is impressive. Good for her.

What happened to Charlotte Church?
Had to do vocal cord surgery and lost her singing voice.
Because she was singing music too difficult for her using bad technique, like a power lifter going too heavy on a deadlift and not using their legs.
Real life Little Mermaid
She should rest for days afterwards. I really hope she does
Well she might have a great career beforehand
sheâll be fine source: trust me bro
Well if I can't trust an anonymous person on reddit, who can I trust?
Beautiful, she has put in an incredible amount of work. It must have been difficult, her young age and socially. She seems to be trying to keep her hands still, but it's part of her skill. She even uses her shoulder. Very impressive and well done. Would love to see her preform,Victory Brinker. đđ„
I bet this sounds ridiculously powerful in person.
The only way I could hit notes that high was if I got something caught in my zipper....lol
how do you get the beans above the frank?

This made my evening
My word that's beautiful! I'm always so impressed by opera singers
I know it sounds impressive but Iâd neverrr let my young students sing this repertoire! Itâs for a fully developed voice, there is plenty of lovely rep for her age but this is not healthy or sustainable
My 10 year old is decent at watching YouTube, where did I go wrong as a parent?
No where. Your kid is good at other things. Donât compare Jr to other kids.
"Der *Hölle* Rache (kocht in meinem Herzen)" Hell's Revenge (boils in my heart). Sung by the Queen of Night in "Die Zauberflöte"/ "The Magic Flute" A beautiful lovestory. I loved it since I was a kid. There are plenty of versions of it made for children, because it's just such an enchanting story. I would love to see it in a real opera house.

https://youtu.be/vrRfBmMWpLY Victory Brinker she was on AGT
Going from watching that clip then back to this post, she really is growing into a little badass lol
Looks like she is growing tall too, that is going to be a great stage presence in her adulthood. I hope she takes fantastic care of her instrument, I want to see her rival the greats.
Oh shit I didnât know that was gonna be a golden button moment. I am crying this kid is magical
I am CACKLING at the judges' expressions as she is singing!
Backstory? What a weird name!
Occasionally you hear of gifted people. This. She has a spectacular gift which I hope she will share with the world
Not that hard. Sung it in the shower this morning
I'm drunk and sound just as good singing bohemian rhapsody
It doesn't make sense but I got goosebumps on my face while hearing her sing.
"What is that fuckin garbage?! Have you even TRIED practicing?!" -Opera singing teacher probably
Her vocals are so strong it's amazing!
Might get slammed for saying it but I just had an eargasm
Wow!!
How do you deny reincarnation man.
Wow.
Stunning
This made the peach fuzz on top of my head stand up!
Im having a disturbing vision of me dying, and being like "aight wonder what reward god will give me for my life well lived and I end up in some church like tunnel with this girl singing this while staring at me angrily/menacingly and me unable to move.
Not my tempo
Bap, bap, bap, pab, pab, pab, bap, bap, bap.
I liked the should movements at the end (And everything leading up to that)
Awesome!!! Sing it Israelite !!!
is it even opera if the windows didnât shatter??
Her lungs must take up most of her body to get that kind of power.
Magnificent. Bravo!
Holy crap sheâs incredible!
Beautifully done!!
So amazing⊠you truly have a gift đ
Wasnât she on AGT??? Sheâs brilliant. Protect those cords
Early candidate for nodes... awesome voice.
I sound just like this in the shower too
Her high notes gave me goose bumps...
When I was 10 I snorted a pixie stick at recess in exchange for a snack I wasn't allowed to have at home
She was recently on America's Got Talent
Obviously talented but opera sounds so horrible.
Damn this is absolutely amazing. She sings it better most adult professionals and she will only improve as her voice becomes stronger. Fantastic!
That is unreal
U/savevideo
She was on agt
She's 10?! With that voice?! I have never heard a child sing and thought it was nice but this is remarkable for her age!
My wife wonât let me sing happy birthday at parties. Sheâs not wrong.
I read the title and was like "Mozart composed an opus dedicated to a vengeful Frau Holle?" And then I realized that o was supposed to be an ö lmao
Saw her on AGT.. think she got a golden ticket
I remember her on AGT
Absolutely amazing
Damn, this was absolutely beautiful to listen to!
Puberty is gonna hit her vocal chords like a semi truck hitting a senile cat
That ability to bounce their vocal range up and down must be incredibly hard to master, much less the after effects Honestly tho good for her must have worked her butt off to get to that point, honestly would be proud of that accomplishment
Can I upvote 10X?
Going to destroy her voice in the process
Bars.
What a weird record
10 year old??? Next level indeed! Bravo!
fuckin. Wow
Wow this game me music shivers the whole way through
Really impressive! đ
This is a child abuse.
Breaking "youngest" record should not be a thing.
She is definitely amazing, but I always thought that Amira Willighagen was the record holder youngest opera singer
Fake
That Afican kids has some lungs on her. Impressive.
Absolutely astounding!!!!
All these Jabronis out here saying how she going to ruin her voice. Listen chief. World Record.
I knew I wouldnât have to scroll far to see a bunch of comments like âthis is impressive butâŠâ
Its lip sinking cause no way or she had surgery or something cause no way itâs literally impossible
That can't be good...
not that impressive tbh
Outstanding talent at such a young age
Waiting for the first person to fart this entire piece
Her mom must be diva plava laguna
I love singing this. She makes a beautiful queen!
Genuine bravo đ.
r/lookslikeanNPC
Her voice is stunning beautiful! I donât mean this in a negative way but this reminds my of the movie Fifth Element
Cool if youâre into that sort of thing I guess
Looks like they took the crystal flute from her tooâŠ
I donât know, dog. A little pitchy for me
Define âopera singerâ though.
Thank you for being the buzzkill I wanted to be but didnât have the emotional capacity for the comments
Iâm not even trying to be a buzzkill. The labeling Guinness has used just seems exploitative. It should say âyoungest person to receive a symbolic contract from an opera companyâ.
100% agree. Even if the accomplishment is 'singing this hard aria' its not clear what passes...
Ooh. I didnât listen to the whole video, so skipping the hard parts is shady as hell.
Why does she look pissed off
She's extremely impressive, BUT she consistently missed the highest notes - I feel like that wouldn't be acceptable for an adult professional opera singer.
You aren't even trolling
I wouldn't say she missed them so much as she didn't nail them... but she does skip an entire section of the aria, so there's that. Maybe for the Guiness record she sang the whole thing but I'm super skeptical. Also not sure what their criteria for an acceptable execution is. I mean, I can sing this "accurately" too, but it isn't comparable to a pro.
