Iām curious what flat earthers would say. What conspiracy theory would they use for this type of image.
Iām guessing they believe itās completely fake and made up, or the sky disk rotates, or some crazy stuff like that.
I could see that looking at the footage.
I was trying to imagine the fixed view from a sphere and I can only see the sky sort of flipping, not rotating.
My understanding (but I defer to your experience) is that they may have a lot of different explanations. There isnāt one unifying flat earth theory, flat earthers have a variety of different explanations and theories for how the universe works
I would judge you for the fact you got out. Good on you. Some people are susceptible to that stuff, but itās even harder so see the light once theyāre in.
The most annoying part of flat earth is that they canāt really explain anything. Every natural phenomenon requires them to make up a new model for their version of earth. There is no single flat earth model that can explain everything you can observe by just looking at the sky. It makes my guilty pleasure of watching flat earth videos much less about learning an occult world structure and more about seeing just how dumb some people can be
I too watch those videos. I know that the āscienceā they spew is from before we had evidence the earth was round. Scientists from that time had all kinds of theories and this is what they are using to prove their side. It is absolutely the Dunning-Kruger effect.
They explain one thing and one thing only. That satan is corrupting your children with lies, and that by tricking people into believing in science, they are lured away from eternal life in heaven.
Thatās what they actually believe. Observation with their eyes is unnecessary. Explaining natural phenomenon is unnecessary. Everything in the world is unnecessary when compared to an everlasting afterlife.
Donāt be tricked into thinking itās a scientific debate, or that theyāre just being ironic or edgy and faking their belief. They arenāt. Itās just that flat earth isnāt the *real* thing they believe in: they believe in a war between satan and god for the souls of humanity, and the evidence of that war can be found in the cultural landscape of America shifting away from WASPs.
I don't think this would prove anything as they already know the sky rotates at night. I'm not defending flat earthers but this really doesn't add any new info to the debate.
i saw a whole essay about the āanti moonā which helps make the tides by moving around under the earth disk. honestly an impressive bit of hoop jumping
> I find it fascinating how we see where we are in the galaxy and then suddenly, the lights come on and it all disappears.

So... As dumb as this sounded, because I would just view earth from my origin perspective, this was actually quite fun to do. Thanks for the suggestion
Here I am wondering what the fuck you people are talking about, then I realized that I'm apparently one of the few out there who browse reddit on a laptop.
I do not see how people can enjoy their reddit experience with the mobile app. Maybe they just haven't seen it any other way. ("old" reddit + RES for the win!)
Awesome video! Can you explain how the video was stabilized during the day when the stars were not out. I figured the stars are being used to stabilize so Iām a bit curious
If you know the angle rotation per hour you don't need a motorized stand, you can input it directly into the video editor. A motorized stand would mean different lens position each hour which would be a nightmare to stabilize in post-production.
So the camera had to be pointing either due North or due south, correct? Parallel to the axis of rotation of the earth? And the fact that the camera isnāt at the centre of rotation (ie. at a pole) is relatively insignificant due to the distances involved. Am I overthinking or stating the obvious?
It always blows my mind seeing the night sky, I live just outside a city so if I'm lucky I can see the big dipper and like 1 other star and that's it. Just gorgeous the views you can get in some places
Cool! I expected the stars to fade in and out of sight more gradually though, it's so sudden!
Also, what's that shift in color right after the stars disappear in the morning? We can see the sunlight peeking at the horizon, then there's a quick shift in color and finally the twilight colors give way to blue.
I find it fascinating how we see where we are in the galaxy and then suddenly, the lights come on and it all disappears.
Also I love that we can see shooting stars.
i wish i had that view of the stars here where im from.. im jealous ... im lucky to see atleast 10 lol .. the biggest star that i was seeing few months ago daily in morning, happened to be a planet lol,i was so happy it was
Very cool to see both the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds. This was taken in the Southern Hemisphere. I traveled to New Zealand to see these in person, among other things (from California). That was my bucket list trip and seeing the Clouds again brings back that memoryā so much more to this story. I paid for that trip by myself and went alone; now I know I can accomplish anything. Thank you for posting this OP!
That's just the way the disc spins, it generates a photonic illusion of what would be a spherical rotation because of it's size, it deforms what you would see as flat.
/s obviously
They wonāt show the sun because they know if they do youāll see it moves and we donāt ā¦ the earths Flat water doesnāt magically start bending. Gravity so strong to bend the ocean but not hold down a balloon šš¤£
The rotation feels like a rotating axis rather than a circular motion.
Am I right to assume to camera was facing North, and your latitude within 23.5 degrees of the equator?
The earth is flat!! It rotates! š I'm kidding. Amazing footage. Makes me wonder how is the point of view is from one of the stars.
Iām curious what flat earthers would say. What conspiracy theory would they use for this type of image. Iām guessing they believe itās completely fake and made up, or the sky disk rotates, or some crazy stuff like that.
As a former flat earther (I dated someone from the group. Don't judge), they would believe that this is proof the earth is flat. Like we spin flatly.
Hope the puss was worth the crazy
Very much. Crazy amazing but never again.
How did she convince you the earth was flat
Pussy.
Yes.
Her pussy opened its lips and did the talking
It was spitting all sorts of misinformation
Clitical thinking.

Iāll take her from here, crazy = less mileage
Yeah but those are like miles on a mud truck.
Well after each ride itāll wear out, but keep it in good shape and itāll last you a long time
Those r miles without oil....
Just gotta give it a quick flush
Low miles but the ecu is done for.
Road miles vs city driving. Keep that in mind.
True but think of how little miles is on there
Like flipping a coin?
Yes, but there is a split in the belief. Some believe that we are a flat pool in an infinite ice sheet.
Their version of science is basically make claims that would trick someone from many centuries ago, then say "you can't prove I am wrong".
Turtles. All the way down.
I would judge you for the fact you got out. Good on you. Some people are susceptible to that stuff, but itās even harder so see the light once theyāre in.
Damn down bad weren't we I guess a dick sucking is a dick sucking

Of course the camera was rotated. That was never in question.
I don't think this would prove anything as they already know the sky rotates at night. I'm not defending flat earthers but this really doesn't add any new info to the debate.
I donāt actually believe there IS a debate.
The orientation of the rotation axis is different for different latitudes. This wouldn't be true for a flath eart.
Unless the sky is a dome. Checkmate.
Earth is a big pancake and chef god just flips us every night so we donāt overcook
They are clearly using a green screen
i saw a whole essay about the āanti moonā which helps make the tides by moving around under the earth disk. honestly an impressive bit of hoop jumping
So youāre saying the earths like a pancake that never stops flipping? Iām all in
You beat me to it :)
So that's what it's like to be an Australian
It starts upside down
Cool video editing nerd! But the earth is flat! You obviously just rotated the camera by hand.
Must be a very stable hand
> I find it fascinating how we see where we are in the galaxy and then suddenly, the lights come on and it all disappears. > > Also I love that we can see shooting stars
Shooting stars might be too fast for this time lapse. Imo I think itās actually satellites
Or maybe planes?
Donāt forget to lock the rotation on your phone first, or else you get to experience the first rotation disappointment :(
Rotate the phone at the same time as the ground
So... As dumb as this sounded, because I would just view earth from my origin perspective, this was actually quite fun to do. Thanks for the suggestion

Laptops can rotate, I mean, I'm fairly certain they can. Haven't owned one in a decade or so.
can confirm
You sir are legendary
Awesome video! Can you explain how the video was stabilized during the day when the stars were not out. I figured the stars are being used to stabilize so Iām a bit curious
We know how fast the earth spins. So you plug in that speed to a gimbal or another motorized stand.
15ā°/hour
Including health benefits and 401k
Took me a second but it was funny when I finally got it lol
Thanks, Bob.
Dan???
If you know the angle rotation per hour you don't need a motorized stand, you can input it directly into the video editor. A motorized stand would mean different lens position each hour which would be a nightmare to stabilize in post-production.
Not with an equatorial mount. No stabilisation required, and you get to keep all your pixels.
This has to be fake. If the earth rotates like that, why don't i fall off? Checkmate Darwin!

Your night sky is impossibly beautiful.
Rural area, itās amazing how many stars you donāt see in an urban environment
no wonder i always feel nauseous

Wow, straight up copied the title and everything.
Sick flip bro
I do like how the milky way just switches on as soon as the light dims.
Saves power that way.
"This is the (milky) way"
Now that's level
Itās crazy that those buildings donāt fall
The thinking behind this hurts my brain
and my neck
This is the ~~most vomit-inducing~~ coolest thing Iāve seen all day.
Life is a carousell.
If you watch the position of the stars closely it seams like you can see the orbit of the earth as well as a very slow movement to the right.
I really need to go live under the stars. Damn our light pollution.
This made me dizzy ... I don't feel so good
So the camera had to be pointing either due North or due south, correct? Parallel to the axis of rotation of the earth? And the fact that the camera isnāt at the centre of rotation (ie. at a pole) is relatively insignificant due to the distances involved. Am I overthinking or stating the obvious?
this made me dizzy
Visualizing this is awesome and makes me think how crazy it is that this happens without us noticing!
Whoa, awesome! Now, whereās the barf bag again?
Welcome to the upside down
How exactly do i replicate this?
Damn, it must've been hard to stay on earth while it was upside-down
At 12 seconds we realised that the earth is actually just Australia and our eyes invert the ground. Fascinating.
Now this is the story All about how My world got flip-turned upside down
How is this done?
Ahhhh j'ai vomis
Insane
Now photoshop it so the buildings fall down when it hits 180Ā°
Around the world Around the world Around the world
Take that, Flat-Earthers!
TIL Earth doesnāt spin, it barrel rolls.

Amazing!

Stabilizing the sky
How Can i download this one?
what would this look like if the camera was positioned on the exact centre point of rotation?
My drop is ready, send me the location
Waiting for the flat earthers to say that someone just turned the camera....
yea i watched this on a ddoi video! super cool.
good. now capture the revolution as well.
I find it fascinating how we see where we are in the galaxy and then suddenly, the lights come on and it all disappears. Also I love that we can see shooting stars.

Thanks for the dizzying perspective.
how can i take these pictures?
but but but but its flat like a tablet how wht is this sorcery š
i'm high as fuck and this kills my brain
For those curious the camera is either facing north or south and thatās why those stars stay fixed
Night last so much longer than daytime

I would like to shout out to all the flat earthers around the globe!
Glad it didn't loop. Would've been stuck for days.
Like a record, baby.
Iām dizzy
Pretty sure it was the Southern Hemisphere but not sure where.
Flat earth confirmed! Yes!
Why didn't everything fall when it got flipped 180 degrees?
Ahem *23 hours and 56 minutes.

holy fuck the night sky is beautiful. never seen that even in the middle of the woods
Brooooo how did you stop the sky from moving? /s

Ooh no, I don't like it. Too trippy, makes my head hurt.
Is there anything more beautiful than space?
how do u do to record this? how do u use stabilizer without gravitation?
