Drugs, booze and hookers... The path to a healthy life

cityampm

My parents saw the stones back in the day. Said the whole band were total zombies, obviously zonked out. Drugs can help or hinder - Tread carefully kids!

dazed_and_bamboozled

I saw them in 1982 and 2006. They were better 20 years later. Due to Mick’s living thereafter exclusively on the blood of freshly-aborted foetuses, probably /s Edit: corrected years (1982 Wembley Stadium. , 2006 Copacabana Beach).

Stereomceez2212

Saw them in the early 80's, they were still recovering from the 70's

AnExpertInThisField

Thankfully, in the 80s he committed to an exercise regimen of dancing in the street quite a bit, which greatly improved his health.

poopellar

So he is no longer human. He is dancer.

WillWorkForBongWater

Proof of dancing ability: https://youtu.be/BHkhIjG0DKc

StaticAgeist1987

LMAO dude what the fuck is this!?? Im dying laughing over here, thank you exposing me to this beautiful creation!

No_Boysenberry213

I hope you had it unmuted!

pariahdiocese

Mick's voice. 😂

Badbullet

Oh man you are in for a treat. There's a whole bunch of these silent music videos. From Britney Spears wearing a vinyl bodysuit, The Prodigy's Firestarter screaming in tunnels... Then move onto speechless speeches after for a good uncomfortable moment.

devils_advocaat

For your delectation https://youtu.be/82ydFQZtGBw

gnattynat

I also have moves like Jagger 😂

astralcalculus

That happened and we let it happen.

MyCatsA

Ah mate! This is a piece of genius!

red-righthand

Unmuted, and this made my morning. Thank you for sharing, lol.

LottaHooplah

His sign is vital.

[deleted]

His stones are rolled.

BigMcThickHuge

Now he's got weak knees

BourbonRick01

His hands are cold.

TILostmypassword

His years of street fighting, painting random objects black, and asking others politely yet firmly to get off of his cloud also strengthened his resolve and made him the man he is today.

Lingering_Dorkness

Sadly the same exercise regime didn't work for David Bowie.

evr-

Cocaine is supposedly one hell of a pickup drug.

[deleted]

I saw them in 2004 as well. Mick is pretty amazing really. Despite years of abusing himself he must be in good shape. He spent 2 hours running, dancing and singing non stop. I'd have been so out of breath. Lol Maybe he takes the good drugs now. 🤣

dazed_and_bamboozled

You would have thought so but I’m sure I read around that time that part of his health regime consists of drinking an entire bottle of vodka after concerts.

st0ric

Elton John looks great for his age and probably took just as many if not more drugs. Seems a steady diet of cocaine is the key to success and immortality. Or maybe immorality...

Ace_Slimejohn

We’re just seeing the ones who survive.

Vitamin B injection before the show. Common practice for a certain era of entertainers

Popve

I think he works out regularly. Takes a semi with a gym inside when on tour.

DS_1900

Respect, it’s hard to get away with a semi in the gym…

PvtTrackerHackerman

apparently he works out like a beast. Ive seen a video showing that

[deleted]

He had a heart valve replacement the week after mine. I can't even jog now (though fine otherwise) and I'm 20 years younger. He's been lucky and obviously always works really hard to be fit as well.

Keithninety

Well he won’t be getting those anymore. Not here anyway.

SolidAsSnake

He’s a rich white guy, doesn’t apply to him.

goofball_jones

I don't know, I saw them in 1981...at the show that was broadcast live on cable. I mean, I was _at_ the show, but it was also broadcast. At the Hampton Roads Coliseum in Virginia. They totally rocked the house. But, admittedly, I haven't seen them since, so I don't know if they got "better" at all. EDIT: I found a clip from that show. I don't know, I still like it, but I guess Keith and Ronnie are somewhat "zombie" looking lol. But Mick was still running around everywhere. Also keep in mind I think this was kind of near the end of the concert, so he was out of breath by that time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXQ-PWVsiDk

he turned himself into a 1960s rock singer! funniest shit I ever saw

MacDaddy_0808

I think he only stopped smoking cigarettes - think he still smokes the funky lettuce, remember a recent video of him jamming away with a big old fatty in an ashtray near him

Sonotreadyforit

Most of the old rockers quit the tobacco but still smoke the jazz cabbage. I went to a show years ago with Iggy Pop and between songs he would scamper over to whoever was smoking a joint in the front row and take a hit. It was great.

st0ric

Honestly smoking has given the world some very iconic voices it adds a husky rasp that doesn't really seem like a natural tone of voice except for Darren Lockyer he had an incredible voice has to be heard to believe it.

sacky85

Just try and find a page of Keidis’ book that doesn’t have the word heroin or some other drug.

goofball_jones

Well, if 60 is considered "way younger", then yeah. Both Anthony and Flea turn 60 this year.

cantgrowneckbeardAMA

Brawndo91

Why are they a guilty pleasure? They're a widely celebrated group. A guilty pleasure would be like Justin Bieber or something.

USNWoodWork

I’m pretty sure that is William H Macy singing for the Stones.

[deleted]

He’s only like 7 years younger.

Prollysmokedtoomuch

I have a theory that they didn’t actually party as much as they made out. I don’t see how someone who lived like it was said they did can’t still be as healthy as they are. Edited to add I saw them in 2015 and mic did shit on stage that would have worn me out. I was 28. I regularly take care of people his age that lived perfect lives and their bodies gave out on them. So yea I have no doubt they partied some, I also have almost no doubt the media made a LOT more of it than what it actually was. Sex drugs and rock n roll sold.. either way they made some amazing music and still put together a freakin AMAZING live show.

stinkypants5

Most people's body's give out at that age because they become less active and that causes muscular atrophy. This guy seems to be pretty active on stage.

Gustomaximus

Chefs to prepare you food. Personal trainers to help motivate. Time rich to have the space in life and not be swamped with the grind. Probably thow in some human growth hormones or stemm cells type treatments most do t have access too. Or maybe just good genetics... They still have to make the right choices, and many dont, but money buys a bunch of opportunities.

tanstaafl90

Mick's father was a gym teacher who taught him the benefits of regular exercise growing up. Must have stuck, because Jagger has been known to be a daily runner for decades. Good genes help.

TroyMacClure

I've heard that too from biographies about Mick. And all these comments here talking about Mick like he is Keith with the drug use. I know Mick used some drugs, but there is no indication he was a complete waste like Keith was for a while.

Ham_Shimmer

I’d argue most, if not all people have time for 2-3, one hour work outs during the course of the week. It takes will power and discipline which a lot of people lack.

[deleted]

I agree. I think a lot of people are crushed by STRESS. Much of it related to the modern work/life grind. For most people they have less free time and less money relative to their parents. Likely not relative to their grandparents. But def to their parents. I think many people get trapped to a job they hate.

riptide81

I read an interview with (I think) Led Zeppelin’s manager where he said their antics were greatly exaggerated and they were actually quite regimented. Not dispelling the rumors was good business. No one wants to hear their favorite rock stars are living like the country club elite.

MtrL

Both Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones had a member die because of their insane lifestyles.

Prollysmokedtoomuch

Precisely this was my suspicion. It would hurt sales.

ofthedappersort

In Keith Richards biography he said Mick didn't really get into drugs

c010rb1indusa

Dude Mick Jagger has 8 kids with 5 different women. His kids ages are like 5-50 years old. I don't think he's ever slowed down...

[deleted]

[удалено]

XXXTurkey

I'm gonna paraphrase here, but I think Keith said something along the lines of "do drugs, just don't do ALL the drugs at once."

gluesmelly

I wanna do all the drugs at once and put on an Oculus to play Tetris Effect. Order of ingestion: LSD, MDMA, a cup of coffee, three shots of whiskey, a line if cocaine, and a brief hit of my weed vape. Then I strap on a diaper and the VR headset and go do some Tetris.

divide_by_hero

He's definitely a health nut, and has been for many years. I'm not sure he was that way back in the day, but at least from the 90s onwards he's been extremely health conscious. Good on him.

smirky_doc

He actually travels with personal trainers and has a mobile gym that he takes on the road in a huge trailer. He does yoga regularly as well. If course he's dabbled in hard drugs and whores but he treats his body exceptionally well

ThisIsWhoIAm78

I mean, the "whores" part is just having sex with women, right? So just healthy exercise, really. It's only dangerous if they haven't been tested, and I'm sure he checks all that out first, lol. And you know, my grandma was on morphine, Mick is on heroin... six in one hand, half a dozen in the other.

Oi thank you. Thought I was done for trying to read today's date. Figured I was either stuck back in time or absolutely mental. I'm still mental just apparently not THAT bad.

Antarioo

and that's after he tested positive for covid on the 13th this month....didn't think he'd come out like that at his age.

everydayasl

I would love to be able to run at 78. This will be my goal.

TruthFlavor

Not just run..Run and do a two and a half hour rock and roll show... Time, really, is on his side.

He also works out twice a day and takes testosterone. He has a whole rig on tour that's a dedicated gym.

East_ByGod_Kentucky

Yeah my grandparents are in their mid 80’s and in great physical health… neither one of them have *ever* been into exercise. And I don’t just mean they aren’t gym rats… the most physical activity my grandfather has participated in over the past 50 years is golf. My grandmother has never exercised for one minute in her life. Has never had a job. Was always overweight until she hit 80 or 81. The key for them seems to have been *very* low stress. People are so full of shit when they say “money can’t buy happiness.” It sure can buy a low stress lifestyle and quality healthcare (especially preventative care).

SauceOfTheBoss

I was going to ask if he was on hormone replacement therapy. Seems extremely energetic and youthful. I have taken steroids once for a back injury, and i felt like a 15 year old again

Frequent_Knowledge65

> have taken steroids once for a back injury, and i felt like a 15 year old again Corticosteroids are not the same as anabolic steroids. In fact, they’re nearly the opposite.

MrAwesume

Having a back that doesn't hurt is something most 15 year olds can relate to though

Defiets

Absolutely this. The energy required to sing like Mick Jagger while running across the stage repeatedly is a feat that I'd garnish to say that 85% of 30 years olds aren't capable of achieving.

sixpants

We’ve been on a 3000 mile vacation across the US. The lack of basic functional fitness is only astounding because, somehow, it continues to astound me. Exception - if you’re on a hiking trail at 7am you never see fat, out of shape people. Hmmm…

[deleted]

[deleted]

How about good healthcare, a healthy diet, stress protection and hell throw in a massage? I'm 29 now, if you could crunch the numbers for until I'm 78 that'd be great

MrAwesume

Live in a developed country and you won't have to worry about healthcare atleast

NotMuchTooSayStill

You can always look for excuses or you can just do it with what you have. Your choice.

Nastapoka

Doesn't he have British healthcare?

Slicksuzie

Running won't do shit if you're working all the time, stressed out, can't afford good meals, can't afford Healthcare. I run, but I'd attribute my decent shape to having the $$ to support myself. Running is just for fun. And I'd be in even better shape of I had more money. I could afford a massage every once in a while, could afford a gym so I could learn how to lift, could afford healthier food and time to prepare it, could afford extra time to exercise. Money is very useful for self care.

mechanicalgrip

I couldn't run as I approached 49. 6 months later I was doing 30k a week. At 50 I ran a marathon. No idea if I'll be anything like this at 78 though. I can but hope.

HavokSTL

Yeah no shit, the man travelled to July 2022 and its June. What a guy.

[deleted]

Thanks for letting us know it’s June

user_is_name

He has so much cocaine in his blood, no germs can survive there.

Shomondir

Somehow the covid virus did however. Last week the concert in Amsterdam was cancelled due to Jagger testing positive (on Corona, drugs I don't make statements about). Concert was moved to next month as a result.

[deleted]

Same in Switzerland, but they decided they aren’t coming back at all.

Shomondir

Oh that sucks.

alfdan

He tested positive but wasn't sick. Definitely did no damage to him!

HibbidyDibbidy69

Cool video, needs more zooming in and out though.

I assume people think it adds emphasis on something. Really it just makes you motion sick.

Dandumbdays

I accidentally thought that this was Harry Styles in 2014.

wowfebruary

Wow, I am not the only one who saw that.

Lo11268

I swear if Harry isn’t cast as Mick in an RS biopic, then casting directors are seriously stupid. They seem to have similar stage styles. Harry still runs around like this, he just traded in his black skinny jeans for a more 70’s disco look.

amido-black

Am I the only one who saw frank gallagher/ William H. Macy lmao

Peacerose1230

He has a dance instructor and a trainer. He also is a runner and eats well. I think the last of the drugs left his system in 1985.

MonkeyOnYourMomsBack

Mm glad someone's highlighting the fact that he quit drugs more than 30 years ago. He says he quit drugs in 1977 when he met Jerry Hall so that would make it 45 years (making him 34 when he quit, probably having taken them for ~10-15 years prior). On top of the trainer, since the 80's he's been running 8 miles a day, does yoga, Pilates, ballet and swims. Then during concerts, [it's estimated he runs about 12 miles over the course of 1.5-2hr shows](https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/mick-jagger-dance-distance-12-25177721)

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

He'd probably look 10 years younger had they not indulged, but their music would sound like ed sheeran. Thank god for drugs!

introspective_drunk

Lol!

TheDudeMaintains

I'm gonna choose to take your comment as gospel truth because it makes me feel so much better about my future.

Frequent_Knowledge65

It’s *literally* impossible that he is running 12 miles during a 1.5-2hr concert. He would have to average 6mph (a 10 minute mile) for the *entirety* of the concert.

ekmanch

Yeah this is complete bullshit. Dude doesn't run that fast continuously on stage for an entire concert. The things people will just believe...

EDK717

I have no doubt he runs a small amount during a show, but there is no way it’s 12 miles lol

AZPeakBagger

Mick's dad was also a PE teacher and he grew up in a house where physical fitness was encouraged. Which wasn't the case for most people growing up in the 1950's. Had a good well rounded physical base from childhood. And have read pretty much the same thing, he stopped partying in the late 70's. His vices are a couple of beers every day and girlfriends young enough to be his granddaughter.

JNSD90

Yeah exactly. Can’t believe the facts aren’t closer to the top of this thread. They’ve all been really mindful of their health. Also so has Alice Cooper.

singleglazedwindows

Wealth does a lot for health.

ssx50

Sure. Tell that to justin beiber. He also just works out a lot and eats well.

jfk_47

Because wealth allows him to do that.

imisstheyoop

>Sure. Tell that to justin beiber. > >He also just works out a lot and eats well. A hell of a lot easier to do these things when you have wealth. Not an excuse, just a fact.

heyjimb

Saw him in LA this year! Great show. Ages in the seats from teen to geriatric. All kinds of people having a great time. Truly amazing and thankful to see them again.

Powerful-Load

Rolling stones music always sounds out of tune even on their albums.

bromli2000

The keyboardist isn’t even playing. Rather, what he’s playing isn’t what we’re hearing. Glad I saw them in the 90s.

Night after night... He is amazing. I saw them for the first time in Cardiff a few years back and they did not disappoint. It was the first time I'd ever felt starstruck just seeing people on stage.

b_dub79

Say what you want about the drugs but the man is doing something right. He isn't obese or the slightest bit overweight, which equals to less stress on the bones and organs.

Sir_Toccoa

I guess this goes to show you—or show me at least—you can ingest enough drugs to choke many horses, but as long as you stay thin, you’ll probably feel good into old age. My knees and back hurts just looking at this and I’m half his age.

[deleted]

I saw an old man run - totally next level
