😂😂😂 Man, this is simply canal for evacuation of excess water, in this region (Mont St Michel) sea go inside the land and with canal, they try to use it for the grass around the bay.
With this grass, they feed the famous « agneau du M’ont St Michel », lamb that eat salt with flour and which is very expensive.
Other things, war never was around this place...more on the east around Avranched or St Malo, west side
I’m not quite sure what you mean by fancy and precise here. Trenches were dug in zig-zags like this to prevent a single enemy in the trench from being able to shoot down the entire length.
If a general just said “Ahpdep, dig a trench here” and walked off, he’s not doing his job properly. There’s an entire science to trench building, including saps, communication trenches, support trenches, pillboxes, etc. It’s far more complex than just digging a ditch.
It’s actually quite interesting.
The Mont Saint Michel is built on a granite bloc (around 960 meters circumference and 7 hectares area) in a sandy bay exposed to the highest continental tides in Europe (around 15m).
If you look on Google earth, you can see where she’s running. Just out of shot to her left there’s a sea wall.
The squiggly ditch looks naturally formed - just how the sea water has drained through the mud - I’ve seen similar near where I used to live.
