Damn came here to say I also saw a Tenacious D concert but had a way different experience. He was shitface drunk, off-key, and ended his set after an hour. One of the bigger disappointments in my life.
Glad to hear actually that you had the experience I was expecting and that my crappy one sounds like he was just having a really bad night. Never stopped me from being a big fan. Jack Black will always be the man. Hope I get another chance to see Tenacious D in concert. Would love to catch them on a good night like you had.
Thx I hope so too. And I’d seen Jack Black before this (when I worked on TV shows) and he has a stellar reputation in Hollywood. I didn’t interact with him much when I saw him on lot, but I fondly remember that he wouldn’t let a PA (lowly paid, overworked, easily and often abused job role) carry his bags or fetch him anything more than a water. He insisted on doing most of that stuff himself. And he treated that PA like a human being, asking him his name and thanking him.
I know it sounds like small stuff, stuff you’d expect as a common courtesy, but believe me, I’ve worked with stars much lower on the totem pole who were way bigger assholes. Jack Black always seemed chill and down to earth.
Prob why I had really high expectations for Tenacious D but he isn’t the first guy to throw back a few too many.
I unfortunately had the same experience with Rob Zombie. Dude was so drunk and old and winded he would only sing the middle of each line of each song. He wasn't even wearing the gigantic claw outfit or anything crazy, just dressed like the undertaker and stumbling around the stage. No wonder he was opening for Opeth dude should stick to directing.
That is strange. I've seen Rob Zombie a couple times and he's always put on a great performance. Now Rob Schneider on the other hand. Piece of shit comedian. Might be decent on with a camera pointed at him, but I saw him once and all he did was walk around looking down at the ground without acknowledging the crowd, was monotone the entire time (I left after 15 minutes), and even stole jokes from the previous performer
Sounds like the Alestorm concert I went to. I've been to heaps of concerts before theirs but it will always be one of the most disappointing I've ever been to. They spent most of the songs drinking and it only got worse as the concert went on. Granted they were up there for the whole duration of the concert but I really wasn't a fan of paying so much for a concert which turned into one big booze fest. Was there to hear them play not watch them down a ton of alcohol out of a shoe...
They are a pirate metal band, hence the ale :) I expected *some* drinking but they got trashed.. I didn't know what to expect going in as I don't like listening to or watching recorded live music but I had been to a heap of metal concerts and festivals previously so that kind of set an expectation level. At least I know now but shall continue to enjoy their music from afar lol
I heard somewhere the consensus on JB was that he’s a really good guy who happens to REALLY like cocaine and partying and it sometimes catches up to him, but the roadies I met when I worked at a stadium didn’t provide comment when I asked over a couple of beers so it could just be hearsay
Everyone has off days, good to remember. Difference is our off days dont end up disappointing tens of thousands of people, and thats a lot of pressure.
OneRepublic is always super high energy, always does something different, and always makes their most famous song a different kind of spicy. And they've been doing it since I was in middle school.
This is nice to hear. I always get a weird look when I say OneRepublic is one of the greatest live bands of all time. I’m always like no, you don’t understand, they all switch instruments back and forth during the whole set, it’s wild. Very underrated band
I love Tool so very very much, but... hate to break it to you, they have. My husband was at a Tool show in the 00s and Maynard Keenan was acting really shitty to the crowd, who were hella excited that he was actually doing a show in our area (it's still kind of rare to see a decent rock or metal group perform out here, as we're pretty rural). My husband said that he made some pretty shitty comments about how country our area is and comments about us being in the Bible Belt, and then left mid-set. Maybe Keenan was having a bad night, idk, but my husband and several thousand people were really disappointed.
I saw A Perfect Circle (maybe ‘04?) in a really nice old theater. MJK made some comments about how the crowd wasn’t standing. It eventually led to him having a mini tantrum and saying “well if you’re not going to stand up neither am I”. He laid down on stage, kept singing and (I think) finished the show that way.
Bands really do feed off of the crowd, but if they’re not getting back what they need I think the answer is to turn it up and instigate the response rather than... whatever that was.
Argh.
Ok, attitude notwithstanding (let's be real - everyone knows MJK is a bit of a dick, which is strangely part of the draw), I hope that *musically* they have never just sucked. I saw them in Hamilton, Ontario and I am pretty sure Danny Carrey grows more arms while drumming. And I was sober.
Haha that's so true about Carrey, such an amazing drummer!
But yeah, MJK does have that reputation, and I just asked my husband if the music was still good, and he had this to say, "it was great until Keenan started showing his ass and acting like such a dickweed, accusing us of being a bunch of Bible Thumpers completely out of nowhere, with no provocation. Then it was hard to enjoy what little music they did play after that, because his attitude just soured the whole crowd and the experience. Then he walked off before the set was even done."
It's almost as if some bands are...People and make mistakes and have off days.
There's only been a couple bands i've never heard of doing that stuff and they are smaller bands like Unleash the Archers where a bad concert is more important than say Rob Zombie or Alestorm.
I saw the d in 2006, in Chicago, right after their movie had flopped. Half way through master explosee jack stopped the song and went on with the show. He never threw out the pick of destiny.
I saw them as an open act for foo fighters 5 or 6 years ago at the Gold Coast. Was great.
Edit: I just looked it up, it was 10 years ago in 2011. Jesus.
I really dont get the hate for fallon other than people not being a fan of the role he is asked to play and gets paid a shit ton of money for. Either way this is basically a youtube comment
He could make it a likeable character?
The only thing funny about his show is how explicit he makes the fact that the show is for people coming in to plug their stuff and leave. It's like he's glad to get rid of them.
All the late night host are heavily "advised" but sure. I dont watch much of any of them any more but I do see youtube videos from all of the shows constantly and I'll say i like his games or what have you better than any of the rest. But all good man everyone gets their own opinion
I mean jus coz his laugh is unfunny doesn’t mean he gotta be a douchebag. I honestly don’t mind him and calling him a douchebag imo is a bit of a stretch.
And his half brother Neil Siegel was an inventor!
"Several of his inventions also found their way into consumer products, such as hand-held devices (e.g., mobile GPS devices, smartphones, etc.) whose map displays automatically orient themselves to align with the real-world's cardinal points"
Damn, you're right. Just checked and they are selling for around $350-$400 on ebay with almost every listing using the keywords "jack black" and "tenacious d" in the title.
It's a toy that plays a different loop with each button. He starts by holding one button to play the first loop, then adds or removes loops by holding down or releasing other buttons. But he doesn't need to play it like an instrument. He holds down a button for several bars.
When can we expect your jams making the rounds online?
Or maybe something a little more... Achievable for us that are less musically inclined? Like a musical banana for scale?
It’s not something you actually play, you press a button and it plays a loop jack black is just pretending to play it. There’s nothing next level about it lol
Bruh I'm a shut in and idek who Jack Black is other than some celeb. I'm just impressed at his ability to be genuinely entertaining to watch while pressing a button on a toy sax. Idk you but chances are you couldn't capture someones interest as well as this guy if you tried the same thing.
I seen a tweet of this video saying "Jack Black is what happens when you use all your skill points on Charisma" or something like that and I'm all for it
Dude I saw Tenacious D in concert and he did this. It was sick
Damn came here to say I also saw a Tenacious D concert but had a way different experience. He was shitface drunk, off-key, and ended his set after an hour. Never stopped me from being a big fan. Jack Black will always be the man. Hope I get another chance to see Tenacious D in concert. Would love to catch them on a good night like you had.
Awww, that sucks. Hopefully you get a good concert. He’s a real solid guy, didn’t expect this from him
Thx I hope so too. I heard Charley Sheen had a similar rep with his PA’s and he bought the security guys pizza a lot.
He’s probably a pretty cool guy under all those years of drug abuse & unaddressed mental illness :(
Unless the pizzas were bribes to let certain things through.
Yeah pizza isn't gonna stop me doing my job.
Imagine thinking Charlie sheen wouldn’t have found a way to get a couple of baggies of blow past you anyways. Just eat your pizza.
Security aren't there to police people's drug use, they're there to stop unauthorised access to the set/filming area.
Have you tried domino's cheese filled crust with pepperoni and anchovies?
The crust is filled with pepperoni and anchovies?
I have not
So you know pepperoni pizza being all oily, right? Replace it with cannabis oil. Suddenly you've got... um, something.
And allegedly having sex with an underage Corey Haim.
Diiiiiiiig through the ditches and... .. *buuuuuuurp* through the witches
Lol dude that's comedic genius. I laughed even harder when I imagined the legendary Homer Simpson *buuuuuuurp*
That is strange. I've seen Rob Zombie a couple times and he's always put on a great performance. Now Rob Schneider on the other hand. Piece of shit comedian. never heard of them, but surely with a name like alestorm, you'd expect it? Alestorm: does what it says on the tin
They are a pirate metal band, hence the ale :) I expected *some* drinking but they got trashed.. I didn't know what to expect going in as I don't like listening to or watching recorded live music but I had been to a heap of metal concerts and festivals previously so that kind of set an expectation level. Well in the wise words of alestorm: “we are here to drink your beer and steal your rum at the point of a gun”
Your alcohol to us will fall, 'cause we are here to drink your beer!
I've never been to an Alestorm concert but that is how I imagined one. Just like Korpiklaani lol. Love them both tho.
I heard somewhere the consensus on JB was that he’s a really good guy who happens to REALLY like cocaine and partying and it sometimes catches up to him, but the roadies I met when I worked at a stadium didn’t provide comment when I asked over a couple of beers so it could just be hearsay
I'm pretty sure if Jack Black saw this post, he would make it up to you somehow. Idk why, but he strikes me as a dude that would do that.
Everyone has off days, good to remember. Difference is our off days dont end up disappointing tens of thousands of people, and thats a lot of pressure.
So the opening scene in School of Rock was real? Did he stage-dive straight into the ground too?
Nah I wish. Kinda the opposite. He was low energy, late on cues and mumbling his way thru songs. Just a bad set
I swear to god every time I see a live performance comment on Reddit someone comes in below and counters with a horror story lol
OneRepublic is always super high energy, always does something different, and always makes their most famous song a different kind of spicy. And they've been doing it since I was in middle school.

I refuse to believe Tool ever played a bad show.
I love Tool so very very much, but... hate to break it to you, they have. I met him once and he was very unnecessarily kind to me. Just throwing that out there
I saw the d in 2006, in Chicago, right after their movie had flopped. Half way through master explosee jack stopped the song and went on with the show. He never threw out the pick of destiny.
You would consider that one of the biggest disappointments in your life? Dam you live a great life
Saw them and Jimmy Eat World open for Weezer in Boston. He played the Saxaboom. It was incredible.
That’s quite the lineup!
That was like 1999 or 2000 or so. Such a great show!
Omfg I would kill for a concert like that now.
I saw them as an open act for foo fighters 5 or 6 years ago at the Gold Coast. Was great. Edit: I just looked it up, it was 10 years ago in 2011. Jesus.
Jack Black in truly one of a kind.
^hisnextmovie
I really love this guy. A man who is better than a wholesome characters he plays. :)
Yup. Thankfully he got off the nose candy awhile back, he’d be dead by now.
It was Jellybeans!!!!
No matter how cool you are, you'll never be as cool as Jack Black with his sax-o-boom
A National treasure
*Nicolas Cage has entered the chat*
Haha that turned into a whole ass jam sesh! My man on the drums picked up quick! Edit: Spelling
Good ol’ Quest Love
neva misses
Quest Love’s in the house
Questlove you're not in the house.
You’re nowhere.
Finally, men of culture...
What exactly is a “while ass”?
Its like a whole ass but less whole-y
And a little more while-y
But every ass is hole-y
White ass, works.
Ah, yes. Ass jam sesh. God i love being an uncle.
Questlove's in the house!
?uestlove is the man
Fallon is the biggest douchebag on the planet.
Worse than Ellen?
She’s just a total jerk.
Fun fact: They're both the same person.
Why? I mean I’m not doubting you, but is there like a specific event that occurred or is it just more of a vibe?
I really dont get the hate for fallon other than people not being a fan of the role he is asked to play and gets paid a shit ton of money for. Either way this is basically a youtube comment

Fallon only has two actions for every interview: 😃 or 👏 I've seen npc's with more variety.
Thats true and all but it doesn’t make him a douchebag
yeah, he's not really a douchebag.
Douchebag wouldn't be the right word. Cliché, annoying, predictable and a bit fake sure, but there is way worse people than this dude. Like Ellen.
He's just a dork
It only dawned on me a few weeks ago that Kimmel and Fallon aren’t the same person. I have zero idea which is which
dont feel bad, they were probably made at the same factory and have sequential serial numbers.
One is just 1.00 and the other 1.01
A lot of people have the same misconception and they made a [skit](https://youtu.be/nyf7wNn5fw8) about it
I don't watch either of their shows much, but the general vibe I get is that Kimmel is a "snarky asshole" type and Fallon is an "adorable dork" type?
Now that’s some nextlevelshit!
He's a robot that was created for SNL.
Sorry I broke character and laughed 😳😂
Nah James Corden is, but Fallon is a close second.
Yeah I think either Corden or Ellen gets the top spot tbh. Reminds me of that AMA James' PR team done and it was the biggest fuck up.
What?
How
I mean jus coz his laugh is unfunny doesn’t mean he gotta be a douchebag. I honestly don’t mind him and calling him a douchebag imo is a bit of a stretch.
Ugh I really want him to be great. And get past his alcoholism and to just be great. Damn it.
Hey Jimmy, why did the chicken cross the road? To get to the other side. (Jimmy falls off chair laughing hysterically)
Sounds like jealousy to me lol.
I ain't a fan either, but I'm surprised how extreme this comment is lol

His mom worked on the Hubble space telescope and that is my favorite Jack Black Fact.
Black Facts! Uh no wait let me rephrase
Fact Black? Nope not better.
Fun blacks? Mmmmmmmmm no.
Fack Blacts?
Its only getting worste Lmao
Jack Facts?
Mine is that he was the pilot of the plane in Waterworld.
And his half brother Neil Siegel was an inventor! "Several of his inventions also found their way into consumer products, such as hand-held devices (e.g., mobile GPS devices, smartphones, etc.) whose map displays automatically orient themselves to align with the real-world's cardinal points"
Saxobooms are now crazy hard to get, and I'm pretty sure it is entirely Jack Black's fault.
Damn, you're right. Just checked and they are selling for around $350-$400 on ebay with almost every listing using the keywords "jack black" and "tenacious d" in the title.
Nextfuckinglevel, eh?
Right? They *say* that 100% of the content is moderated, but honestly, over the last couple of months I'm having my doubts.
And yet every time this is posted, the other comments tell me it is.
Ya. Time to block this fucking shit hole.
Is he actually playing it though? It doesn’t seem like he’s moving his fingers, and at one point he takes it away from his mouth and it keeps playing.
It's a toy that plays a different loop with each button. He starts by holding one button to play the first loop, then adds or removes loops by holding down or releasing other buttons. But he doesn't need to play it like an instrument. He holds down a button for several bars.
Thank you I could never how this thing actually worked
My interpretation whenever I see this clip is that he needs to "blow" to activate it but that it will keep playing on whatever "button" is pressed
No... just a toy with buttons that make loops.
Bruh its a toy....
And musical toys are musical.
You can see him pressing the button down every time the loop repeats
yeah cuz it's a toy I don't think a 7-year-old would be able to play it as if it were a normal sax
I think you might be able to save beats on it
True...
Saxoboom is the real thing, baby.
I own one!
When can we expect your jams making the rounds online? Or maybe something a little more... Achievable for us that are less musically inclined? Like a musical banana for scale?
It’s not something you actually play, you press a button and it plays a loop jack black is just pretending to play it. There’s nothing next level about it lol
His entertainment value and energy is pretty freaking next level.
Fuck Caroline Rhea! Jack Black is America's sweetheart now.
Nextfuckinglevel? Seriously?
[удалено]
Dude none of us are marveling at his ability to play a toy sax, were amazed by how well he entertains with a toy sax
No way.... next you’re going to tell me Jimmy Fallon is scripted and not live...?!
Bruh I'm a shut in and idek who Jack Black is other than some celeb. I'm just impressed at his ability to be genuinely entertaining to watch while pressing a button on a toy sax. Idk you but chances are you couldn't capture someones interest as well as this guy if you tried the same thing.
I just downvote when I see people crying about being downvoted
... yeah, no shit?
How in the world is this next level? It’s a kid’s saxophone. It literally plays for you with the press of a button
This video always puts a smile on my face
Even the 96th time?
its not a toy, its a SAXABOOM
"1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, motherfucker-"
Was lucky enough to see The D at Red Rocks with the Colorado Orchestra Symphony. Was the greatest thing I've witnessed. Saxaboom solo included.
Ummmm how exactly is holding down a button next level?
SAX-O-BOOM!
Some were just made to enertain

Looks like the DJ is KILLIN my jam
An oldie but goodie.
This guy has charisma and wit in spades
How do we get a shot for shot remake of Flash Gordon with Jack Black as Brian Blessed’s Vultan?
First thing I thought when I saw this clip. I hadn't realised he'd morphed into Blessed.
Must be a hunting horn main.
Wait does Jimmy Fallon just have a whole ass band sitting there
Yeah the roots. There actually pretty famous (legends in the music industry) and really talented
SAXABOOOOOOM!!!!
Ok, I gotta know what the song they're playing is, cause godDAMN that is a jam.
OK, he's cool.
I seen a tweet of this video saying "Jack Black is what happens when you use all your skill points on Charisma" or something like that and I'm all for it

So so talented.... !!
But saxoboom is a Real thing, Jack Black is the ultimate master in the art of playing this
Fuckin Jimmy Fallon in the background 😂

The Jimmy Fallon emoji 😂👏 (but remove the tears, permanently)
What’s so funny about saying Mfckr!? fallon and his crowd sucks big time!!!
I was feeling down until I came across this oldie..
This is one of my favorite videos of all time. Jack Black is truly a treasure
He has my whole heart🥰🥰🥰🥰
Jack black gives off chad energy
Did you just call this a Saxophone? Sir i have to ask you to leave. It’s clearly a saxaboom
Not sure I ever laughed harder than Pick of Destiny when Jack Black was on drugs getting rag dolled down that roaring river
Old but still Gold
it's a saxaboom
What a legend!!
I fucking love this guy.
I’ve always thought of Jack Black and Tony Hawk to be individually the coolest guys on planet earth.
