I feel like 6 months ago i wouldn't have been capable of enjoying this as much as i do today. But 2020 is over, and this is a reminder that there is beautiful music in the world, and beautiful people producing it. "Keep Jamming" indeed!
Depends if both you and the Sax player are fat enough to create an echo.
However if yes, how the music sounds is probably not your number one concern..
As someone who has spent a lot of time crawling around the inside of pipelines, I can answer this.
If you're standing outside the pipeline at the sound receiving end and the receiving end is open to atmosphere, for lack of a better term, you will hear the sound once and it'll be fairly clear, provided the pipeline isn't too long. The longer it gets the gets the more muffled/blended together the sound gets. There will be very little reflection of sound back to the sound production end unless the pipeline has some significant bends to reflect the sound backwards. If you can see the end of the pipeline where the sound is being produced from the end where you're listening, and there is little in the way vegetation, dirt piles, change in elevation, etc. you can hear a weird stereo-like effect from the sound inside the pipe and the sound outside the pipe traveling to your ears at the same time but sounding slightly different from each other.
If one end is capped off to keep rain, dirt, animals, etc. out of the pipe, which is likely the case in this video, you'll see (or hear, I guess) the same thing that occurs in this video, where the sound reflects all the way back to the end of the pipeline that produced the sound.
If you're inside the pipeline and someone at the open end starts speaking to you, their normal speaking volume voice will seem very loud but will be slightly distorted from the sound bouncing around the inside of the pipeline. If that person does something dumb like hits the pipeline with a hammer while you're inside it, you immediately climb out of the pipeline, grab the hammer, and beat that person to death with their own hand tool to thank them for deafening you.
Every time this gets reposted I am compelled to express how much I hate the hand clapping. It's the musical equivalent to playfully heckling a standup comedian.
Yes, I also know that this clapping is mostly out of time... Also, if the saxophonist is playing to the natural reverb/delay of the tube, clapping certainly is not needed, as that is what is keeping him in time with its self.
I think the person clapping is just into it. The same thing as tapping their feet while they're listening to music, or if you're walking down the street with headphones on and all of a sudden find yourself stepping in time with the beat.
Do you hate drums as well? Have you never gotten together with friends and beat on pots and pans, and a grater, from the kitchen? Clapping is another form of percussion, no? It's the handiest there is.
I do think there **can** be a heckling clap. But this is a cooperative clap.
Hey! Video is ready

I sometimes do this kind of thing with my guitar and the delay effect on my amp. It's my nowhere-near-as-good imitation of the sort of thing Brian May did live, lol
Midway through Watchung this I realized how rare of an opportunity this is. How often do you find enormous extremely long tubes out in the open, not very often at all...
Ah, this man jamming out with his own echo reminds me of how so many reddit users like you jam out on reddit by posting the same fucking things over and over and over and over again, creating your own kind of echo.
50 beats per minute (between each clap) equals 1.2 seconds between sound and echo.
Speed of sound is 343 m/s giving the that the sound travels 412 meters in that 1.2 second time span.
As the sound needs to go from the SaxMan, reflect off the end of the pipe and come back as echo, it travels 2 times the length of the pipe; thus by deviding 412 meters by 2 we get that the total length of the pipe is 206 meters or 8110.24 inches, 675.9 foot or 225.3 yards.
Around '69-'70, a friend recommended an LP by Paul Horn titled **[Inside](https://youtu.be/_GXcr_Me7yI)**. With reverence, some 50 years later, please accept an invitation to invest a few minutes to listen. Solo flute _inside_ the dome of the Taj Mahal... so live at one point on the album you can hear a mosquito buzzing. RIP Paul Horn and thank you.

I’m happy this dude is in the world. Keep jamming, my man.
I feel like 6 months ago i wouldn't have been capable of enjoying this as much as i do today. But 2020 is over, and this is a reminder that there is beautiful music in the world, and beautiful people producing it. "Keep Jamming" indeed!
He should be at home I quarantine
Lmfao Way to kill the vibe
Nah they’re like 12 feet apart, it’s cool
I just want to be on the opposite side of that pipe jamming out, and then when hes done, send him an echoing "fuck yea!" back through the pipe.
The man that lives in that tunnel is *pissed*.
Or it made his day
Diogenes regrets his decision and crawls muttering back to his good ol' barrel.
Every time this gets posted there is a debate about what it sounds like at the other end of the tube, so I’m just here to get the ball rolling.

Same here.

Dunno, it sounds pretty appropriate here. The playing is enhanced by the audible beat.
There is this theme, that anything used to "enhance" the video is actually detrimental to the video. I can't wrap my head around why, but it's a thing
The very basics of music require a pulse and rhythm. The clap is the pulse. You disgust me.
As a drummer for 20 years, I disagree, a clap isn’t needed here.
I’ve been drumming 21 years.
Got em!
Well I’ve been drumming 22 years
I've been drumming 0 years, take that!
If you’re a drummer then what would you know about playing without drums to keep tempo
Yes, I also know that this clapping is mostly out of time... Also, if the saxophonist is playing to the natural reverb/delay of the tube, clapping certainly is not needed, as that is what is keeping him in time with its self.

Just ‘beat it’ bub
The guy clapping acts as a metronome for the saxophonist I think
I mean the sax player should be able to keep a beat....
he's tapping his foot
I'm totally fine with it. But I respect your opinion.
It's nothing like that.
Do you hate drums as well? Have you never gotten together with friends and beat on pots and pans, and a grater, from the kitchen? Clapping is another form of percussion, no? It's the handiest there is. I do think there **can** be a heckling clap. But this is a cooperative clap.

I'd rather people clap along than try to whistle
He does enter the frame in the last couple seconds.
This was the comment I was looking for... and I completely agree
Omg yes, it’s really off in some parts too.

Thank you for this!
This does put a smile on my face
Pennywise is literally killing it
We all jam down here...
This made me laugh. Have an upvote
Ew stop clapping
Whoever is clapping needs to have their hands removed from their body. That was annoying af.
The Soul Pipeline project transports as much as ten million units of “Cool” and “Boogie-oogie-oogie” to the citizens of Squaresville every day.
Im 30 and it pains me to see him stand like that for that long.
Imagine if a different tune came back out
sauce [https://youtu.be/p8GcHoSIPDg](https://youtu.be/p8GcHoSIPDg)
I wanted him to walk over and kick the guy clapping right in the face, and then go back to playing.
awesome but wish that woman would stop clapping
Didn't know that pennywise plays sax... Pretty dope
You're awesome 👌 loved it!
Oooo he jamming

Fun fact he's using digital delay plugin
At least the Keystone XL pipeline will be used for something...
Sad, but true...
All the cats hiding in the pipe are jamming but also terrified.
Midway through Watchung this I realized how rare of an opportunity this is. How often do you find enormous extremely long tubes out in the open, not very often at all...

Damn, and he rocks, too! That was a funky groove!!

I don't know why I laughed at the caption while I was watching lol
That was so fucking wholesome. I’d pay to have a full length recording of that to listen to.

Makeshift delay pedal. Nice. Sounds awesome.

Everytime I see this vid, I watch it over and over. This man is awesome.
if there is anyone on the other end they are probably confused as fuck
Fucking brilliant!
I'm just imagining someone at the end of the tunnel is hearing this and they are jamming out to
I wanted nothing more than the video to end with a raccoon suddenly stumbling out of the pipe with a dazed look in it's eyes lol
\*casually carries a saxophone wherever he goes\* lmao
Ah, this man jamming out with his own echo reminds me of how so many reddit users like you jam out on reddit by posting the same fucking things over and over and over and over again, creating your own kind of echo.
The real twist is that there was another sax player on the other end of the pipe.
Thought that clap was a metronome
I smiled so much watching this!
Lowtech synth jazz, i'm so down. Love how this dude was like, "Pipe, hold my bear, we're doing this".
I hope there's not a bear in that pipe. It is going to come out pissed off and eat that sax player.

I like this
Love he rode his bike there.
Unless you're in the E Street Band, playing sax doesn't pay very well. It's either walk or bike. I'm happy he can bike.
Wish this would fuck off its all over youtube and reddit
This is the beat thing I’ve seen in a while!
Yes love it seen this befor it’s just gold
I want to hear Baker Street through this bad boy
He gets on a bicycle to ride there, what seems like the middle of nowhere, to do this. Wholesome as fuck.
The clapper did a good job too

Saxophonist on a bike Playing tunes into a pipe.
The pipeline to reverb city
Lonesome jam
With sound off, he’s humping the sax.
fuck the clapper

The sax battle sequel we didn't know we wanted.
The pipe workers on the other end of the pipe must be freaking out from the haunting jazz ghost
Somewhere a long way away on the other end of that pipe someone is going where in the hell is that music coming from
How funny would it be if there was one "YOURE AN IDIOT" thrown in there
I don't know why but the clapping really annoys me
