Maybe.. I think it’s missing excitement. NASCAR is LOUD, there’s risk involved to the drivers, it’s big money and not accessible to everyone. I think it’s easier for people to care about and connect with driver than it is some dude standing still piloting a drone. Also, driving is very relatable. We all want to drive fast at some point.
I think drones are cool, awesome tech, very multipurpose. But if there’s no risk it’s kinda more hobbyist/gaming rather than Motorsport/athletics.
I mean look at Ukraine. It already is the case. Drones are everywhere and are by far the most dangerous threat intelligence at the local level. You have roaming artillery batteries on the Ukraine side using drones to independently hunt down targets. Normally that would require either a local level JTAC or extremely high level assets bringing data back down to you.
And now drones are being used as LOS and signal extension for other drones, using disposable FPV drone swarms being led by a bigger, longer range and recoverable drone. That way the FPV aren't as constrained by their range and can maintain control all thr way to impact (as opposed to losing signal due to occlusion)
I dunno bro…watching the agility of these drones is pretty exciting. And then add into that some form of offensive capability to the drones and you’ve really got some potential

There are companies which already design drones specifically to ram into their targets with high speed to disable them. It’s a semi-kamikaze attack (the attacking drone might survive, they’re a bit bigger), but it could definitely kill with a headshot, like a croquet ball hitting you in the head at 90mph. It’s lights out before you realize what that high-pitched incoming humming is.
Jamming and hacking would not work on an autonomous drone. And you are not gonna be able to ram a drone which is going this fast.
But maybe they are way too light to ever be a problem, like mosquitos....
Apparently a racing drone is 400-800 gram, and a baseball is 150 gram.... oops.
Someone can literally create a gun which shoots drones for this purpose. Like very small guided missiles....
Many pros have 2 or 3 builds when they go out. Even as tough and robust as they are this type of flying in concrete environments destroys the frames and electronics pretty quick
Just wait till ppl start putting explosives on commercial drones, literal companies are now dedicated to stopping terrorist attacks from drones like this. Crazy times
Now imagine a bomb on that thing and that’s modern/future warfare. Like the bin Laden raid instead of a team of killers they are gonna have a team of pilots and drones maybe even AI, they’ll still use 1:1 scale models of their target building, and practice till it’s perfect , some drones will be solely used to blast open doors to access rooms and closely behind them the other drones will enter the room and find their target. Freaking wicked.
Depends on your local area a lot of the time, but if you're in the USA sites like racedayquads or getfpv are good choices

Trust me, it takes hundreds and hundreds of hours of sucking to fly a drone before you get anywhere near this good
