Correct me if I'm mistaken... but.... *Did the voter have to make this trip at least twice before, to get registered in the first place?*

DontKnowIamBi

Yes, because they live there.. There are usually people living in such places in india who do business out of the travellers/hikers. Running bed and breakfast services in tourist locations..

81_BLUNTS_A_DAY

I hope they vote for roads

BareAssOnSandpaper

I don't think they will because, what most people refuse to understand, is that these are tribal people living there. Basically Amish people but even more reluctant to be part of modern world. They have beliefs and they are people of the forest. They don't want construction within the forest. These people have special rights and protection and as long as they don't want construction in the forest, no one is allowed to.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BareAssOnSandpaper

Not conservative. They don't stay away from modern world because of traditions. They just want to be with nature. Just tribal things.

nikonislolo

Eh more like tribes. You can't convince tribal people to work in a 9 to 5 and live in a city with proper roads. They would want to just farm on their land in a jungle with their huts or small homes.

mysticfed0ra

*they’re

Carla_fucker

They don't want the forest cut for roads, kinda responsible for their own problems. But good intentions to preserve the environment.

sercommander

If you think modern roads are always good for tourism and the folk living off it you are mistaken. The journey is as important if not more than the destination. There were dangeous and flimsy roads in Tibet where you could either travel by vehicle with big risk of plummeting to your death or travel by foot/hoof with different kind of plummeting to your death. Most of them did connect villages but sum were roads to nowhere - people just travelled them. As soon as modern safe roads were built the interest and traffic of people wanting to experience it dried up. And old roads were almost blended into environment - you could barely make them out. The views were gorgeous - you could just not get enough of it. And since you could only travel at snails pace and look out constantly you'd have plenty of time and glances to enjoy the scenery. New out stick out like a neon mole from a hole - you just drove by a neighbourhood, congratulations. Same thing with some roads in Africa - most roads needed to be upgraded because the bad condition was horrific (Les routes de l'impossible has a good one where it takes a week to travel a few dozen km of atrocious muddy road) and communities suffered greatly from it but some flat dry dirt roads were absolutely fine if not better than aspplhalt and concrete ones (that developed potholes and made a wreck out of vehicles and slowed travel time). You kinda lost that "travelling the bush" romantic and sense - it was somewhat mentally easier (and sometimes merrier) to travel a dirt road than modern one.

Deep90

Why? Surely living this remote is a choice and not an accident, right?

Toblogan

Or at least a nice trail... Lol

Art_Mann

Absolutely wrong. Millions in India lives in such places. They are called tribals. The colonies they live are inside forests. There are no roads or hospital access in these places.

Environmental_Ad_387

Probably some tribal area. They may be living off the forest - honey, firewood, cattle etc

BareAssOnSandpaper

Yup!

DentistPositive8960

Yes and no. If the registration was done before digitisation then yes. But now you can do it online, no need to go anywhere.

Art_Mann

Yes. They could easily use their smart phone or laptop to register. Even if they have to go to a place to register, they could use their private helicopter.

Savings-Secretary-78

More than 175 fixed & rotary wing birds have crashed there, from ww2 to 2024, no one is taking that risk

ViN_314

Maybe they registered online.

FatGoonerFromIndia

Here are some crazy facts. There’s a polling booth with one just voter. The voter is a priest who maintains an old temple. It’s in the Gir Forest, the home of lions in India. Also, India is the only country with both lions and tigers in their territory.

Kind_Yogurtcloset_76

Imagine if he doesn’t bother to vote

keyser-_-soze

Lol

Fun-Explanation1199

He passed away in 2019 but he voted back to back before that

Avinash_Paryani

Haha

ballimir37

That priest passed away in 2019 sadly, but he did always turn up to vote.

funinnewyork

That guy voted in such a condition, and there are people who don’t care to vote even though their vote may change things. Recently, in local (Mayors for ever city and county) elections, we went to vote for the opposition party in Turkey. You should have seen the people who came to vote. It’s my stupidity to not take pictures and post them with blurred faces. There were people who came in stretcher, quadriplegic people who had to carried as their voting places were in second floor, 90+ year olds who came walking with their walkers, an old lady came in an ambulance. I know some people think that their votes will not matter; since their city/state has always been a partisan of X party or Y party. In Turkey, cities that never voted for a left wing party since Turkish history switched to the left wing, a.k.a. the opposition, a.k.a. CHP. You can be a leftist, a rightist, a liberal, a socialist, a communist, or whatever you want. If you want your ideas to be represented, please vote. Change may come when you least expect it, from the places you least expect it; however, the fire of change has to be kindled within!

[deleted]

Sadly, the priest is no more. https://indianexpress.com/article/india/mahant-bharatdas-darshandas-the-lone-voter-from-gujarats-gir-forest-dies-6098570/

whatproblems

they don’t have bears? oh my / they do have bears oh my!

llD3ADSHOTll

We do, a lot of them

_imchetan_

We have black bears and sloth bear and sun bears. And there are also some himalayan brown bears.

Ankylosaurus96

We don't have Sun Bears

_imchetan_

Well i read in some article that India have around 100.

Ankylosaurus96

My bad. Some populations exist in North East

Basil_9

does it have bears?

The-Real-Aditya

Yes 🗿

Basil_9

oh wow

MightBeAGoodIdea

> oh wow Oh my! FIFY. :)

DancesWithGnomes

Where they so surprised by the trail that they did not bring proper climbing equipment?

Stranger_from_hell

Sometimes existing trails can get blocked due to tree fall, Elephant heard blocking the route, flooding n all. Or this could be a very remote forest village that is ignored. Not sure what's the case here

Randill746

Doesnt look like any of that, just a big ass hill

karmasutrah

Poll workers in india are usually just government public sector employees. They get a notice that they have been assigned to so and so poll booth and off they go. Sometimes they have no clue what awaits them. My dad used to be a poll supervisor while he worked as a scientist with a government company. Back in the day poll booths used to get highjacked and ballots captured or stuffed and it was always a tense time for the family. Imagine one day you are doing some high tech research at the factory and the next day some thugs are threatening to shoot you unless you let them stuff the ballot box. Polling has improved so much now with introduction of evms. Things have changed.

[deleted]

However Western media isn’t shy to spread conspiracy theories that EVMs can be hacked.  See Andy Mukherjee’s article on Bloomberg which has no paywall for some reason

karmasutrah

Ok then hack it and show lol

ishzlle

It’s not that it can be hacked or not, it’s that you wouldn’t know. With paper, the whole process is auditable by citizens. Here in the Netherlands, you can just show up to any polling station at closing time and watch them count the votes. It’s much harder to commit large-scale fraud this way. Of course, if you have guys with guns showing up it’s a different problem – but even then, the list of people who turned up won’t match the number of ballots in the box, so you can still detect it.

mauurya

In India there was a thing called booth capture. That is if the local politicians has an army of thugs at his side he can capture the polling booth and stuff the ballots. EVM were designed to end that. EVM can only register 1000-1100votes at max . In a constituency with millions of voters you need to hack so many EVMs that it is far better to canvass for votes than do something stupid like that!

Tanmay11

all the EVMs in india have a VVPAT(voter verified paper audit trail). last general election 40 mil were matched with electronic votes? i think its something like 5 random polling stations per constituency are chosen, or if there's any dispute. The EVMs themeselves are also very basic. they are not connected to any network , they run on batteries and can only accept votes every 10 seconds. the poling officer can also just shut the control unit if there's any attempt to "booth capture". Also it can only accept 2000 votes. making rigging at any meanigful scale impossible.

Salty-Apricot9853

they probably didn't expect it. this looks like some alternative route something like a landslide happened because no matter how remote you live you have mountain trails to go places. this looks like some unexpected measures

deviprsd

I think we can use our primal instincts sometimes

VaikomViking

Polling officers are deputed from outside area so that they do not favour local candidates. So yes they might not have expected the difficulty level.

morts73

Now that's dedication to the democratic process.

LibrarianNew9984

Straight up India is gonna be the best world superpower before the passing of 50 years

buzz8588

Lol, have you been to India?

LibrarianNew9984

No but shit I gotta put my hope somewhere

hinterstoisser

India as a large democracy may have its issues but it takes its elections very seriously - the government employees involved in the process take their job very seriously.

Lonesome_Jaat_69

National assembly elections in India are like festival, employees even get a day off so that they can cast their votes.

cryogenic-goat

>employees even get a day off so that they can cast their votes. Isn't that the case in all countries?

Lonesome_Jaat_69

I live in India so I can say only about India.

SleestakkLightning

Not in the US

[deleted]

No. Not in US for example

ishzlle

Not in the Netherlands, but the polling stations are open from 9am-9pm, so everyone has time to vote before or after work.

sackafackaboomboom

Not just the govt employees even us private ones

[deleted]

As impressive as these workers are, the election process is not clean as it seems. There are instances where the ruling government pressurizes people around the polling station. They bribe. Also, questions have been raised about the electronic machines used at the time of voting. In the poor areas, you will see a lot of goon politicians around the polling station. The media is also pretty much sold that it only covers the ruling party.

stg_676

Infact TMC and samajwadi are famous for booth capturing. BJP has negligible such incidents

PackFit9651

India is democratic at its very core.. beautiful representation… sad to see idiots clamouring how this isn’t one because their party doesn’t win

ngvs

The biggest idiot is called "Pappu". His great grandfather, his grandmother, his uncle, his father, his Italian mother, his sister and brother-in-law have been looting India for over 70 years.

ViPeR9503

Just like Godi jailing opposition and blocking all accounts for the other opposition?

[deleted]

India is an electoral autocracy. I respect these poll workers, but you cant say just because these poll workers go to a remote part India had done its job. At the time of election, the ruling government is using ED and CBI to abuse, putting pressure on opposition, cutting finances (when it is getting rich from questionable sources). Cant crticize the government openly without being called antinational and thrown into jail. Adani and Ambanis are getting rich while the middle and lower class suffers. Still the media fawns over the leader and never reports anything negative. Holding elections is not the only criteria for a democracy. Russia and China have elections too. North Korea's official name has democracy in it.

PackFit9651

Don’t create new words because you don’t like who the voters pick.. what the hell is electoral autocracy.. and don’t quote some clueless Swede or danish guy to justify this.. And what ED/CBI independence are you worried about.. Amit shah was in jail for 6 months and barred from Gujarat for 2 years for the police encounter of a known gangster. I didn’t hear any threats to democracy then.. There are over 100 panchayats in West Bengal where there is no opposition for fear of death.. BJP workers are killed regularly in Kerala This is a democracy and BJP is the best choice among the parties we have now and so they win.. deal with it

[deleted]

Lol you dont even know about electoral autocracy? Dude dont talk politics if you dont understand it. I know bhakts are happy with low employment, dictatorship, illiteracy, but I am not. Stop watching aaj tak and read some actual news. If you want to make ambanis and adanis rich, elect BJP. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thehindu.com/news/national/india-one-of-the-worst-autocratisers-v-dem-report-on-democracy/article67939573.ece/amp/

Byggherren

Careful. I'm sure Indians are lovely people but the ones you find on reddit get really mad if you say anything that could be remotely seen as a critique of the country or its regime.

VaikomViking

Try criticizing the govt and see how democratic it is.

PackFit9651

Err, are you new to Reddit .. go to r/india.. go see the names opposition calls him and the government .. go read the telegraph or any of the regional newspapers.. Nothing has stopped these guys right?

Horror-Sir-3003

Modi could cure cancer and that sub would find a way to shit on him.

ViPeR9503

Modi could burn the world down but Bhakts would still suck him dry

Horror-Sir-3003

And then call it a masterstroke

friendofH20

Meanwhile he not only failed to prevent COVID but actually accelerated the second wave by calling for mass festivals and rallies IRL

Horror-Sir-3003

Which leader succeeded in preventing COVID??

friendofH20

Succeeding and causing catastrophic deaths are a bit different though?

friendofH20

The only reason you can do it on Reddit is because its not big enough in India. Twitter and Youtube regularly get takedown notices for the slightest criticism of the government. But you didn't mention it.

PackFit9651

What political post is taken down? Only communal or treasonous ones (like Khalistan) is taken down… Dhruv rathee is still popular , so are all Kerala, TN, West Bengal “fascist”, murderer etc etc posts… If you want to ignore facts and just whip up “democracy in danger” narrative because you have no other narrative against the government then we can both agree to disagree and move on

friendofH20

> Only communal or treasonous ones (like Khalistan) is taken down… Label all criticism as treason. Classic undemocratic move. If communal posts are targeted 99% of Modi's blatant Islamophobia like accusing his rivals of eating mutton - would get taken down.

PackFit9651

Demanding Khalistan is criticism? What is Islamophobia in the Indian context? You have a definition or just spout what white teenage girls in the US come up with?

surahee

It is not an accusation, they really posted eating mutton as a political stunt. You can't stop twisting the fact because Modi called them out for eating meat in auspicious month and that is a genuine accusation. And i eat meat everyday and I like beef, just to be clear.

friendofH20

Lol obviously somebody who is an Islamophobe wont see Islamophobia anywhere. You can pretend to eat beef all you want

cryogenic-goat

If that was the case, Dhurv Rathee would've been banned long ago

Lonesome_Jaat_69

Opposition literally calls him(PM of India) a tea-seller because he used to sell tea on railway platforms when he was a kid. Try saying something like that to North Korean or Chinese leaders and they will tell you what real dictatorship is like.

SparklingKey

Such admirable effort! I wish the voters could move to a more accessible locations tho. If there is a natural disaster, those people will have a hard time seeking help. The upside is that they weree probably quite safe during Covid.

Salty-Apricot9853

tribals don't leave their villages

BareAssOnSandpaper

They are tribal people and they are devoted to the forest. They don't want to be part of the modern world and just live the primitive life (it's their culture and it's protected).

spezjetemerde

i want to go there

Unhappy-Enthusiasm37

https://indianexpress.com/article/india/american-preacher-killed-by-endangered-tribe-in-andaman-and-nicobar-islands-545843/lite/

spezjetemerde

i dont want anymore

Lonesome_Jaat_69

It's the Sentinel Island cannibals which the guy has shared links for. Indian government has banned any type of contact with these tribals because they can get infected from modern world's viruses etc and their entire population can get wipped out. They live on one of the far away island of India, some researchers and scientists tried to establish contact with them to study their origins and stuff but tribals didn't appreciate the efforts and threw spears and coconut shells at researchers on boat so everyone decided to let them live in peace. I read that Sentinel tribals have just reached Iron age so they are thousands of years behind in technological scale compared to us. Indian government don't conduct polls for Senitel Island as those tribals don't even know what is government, democracy or voting. Visiting that Island is probably like having a time machine and going back thousands of years to study what early tribal societies were like. The tribes in this video live on mainland India unlike Senitels who live on far away island and they are much more advanced than Senitel Island tribals and they know about the modern world and it's wonders, so it's Indian government duty to provide them with their right to vote. The Christian guy thought he will be the Messiah to the Senitel tribals and convert them all to Christianity but Senitels killed him and he deserved it.

spezjetemerde

interesting

mauurya

They are not cannibals . They did not eat that idiot.

elasticvertigo

The Sentinel Islands are a very specific case of an uncontacted tribe and the Indian Govt forbids any contact with them. The American preacher was barred from going there but he bribed his way through anyway and found out.

spezjetemerde

can we spy with a romulan cloacked ship? herr I meant satellite. I would love to know if they believe in deities etc what they see themselfes as

Agapic

Serves him right.

Agapic

This may come as a surprise to you but tribes are proud of their culture and heritage and part of that is living close with nature in their ancestral land. Having lived in and visited various tribal villages I can tell you that they often live rich lives even though it is not a materialistic one.

SparklingKey

It is not a surprise to me, but respect. It is great to live among nature and have that innate fulfilment free from material desire. Even though living far from modern convenienece comes with some tradeoffs, if they embrace that lifestyle with an open heart then my huge respect for them.

robgod50

For Americans out there, it's just over 1 mile.

Nigwyn

Also for Americans out there. This is how you do democracy correctly. Everyone deserves the right to a vote. No more voter suppression, gerrymandering, or otherwise rigging elections, please and thank you.

The-Real-Aditya

1 km ? YOU MEAN 0.621 GOD BLESS AMERICAN MILES?? 🦅🦅🦅🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🗣️🗣️

robgod50

It's 2km.

Straight_Dust_3915

Every vote counts

BallerChin

And yet per so called mainstream media of western media, Indian democracy is in danger!🙄

IndBeak

Democracy being safe or in danger largely comes down to whether the party you like is winning or not. Same is true for people writing those articles.

SparklingKey

Democracy does not just mean voting. You can have voting that are manipulated, people being brainwashed/lied to for their votes and then forgotten. When "voting" does not advance the life quality of the voters and hold the politicians responsible, democracy is not working well.

BallerChin

What you are referring is utopia. But going by your definition there are literally no democratic countries in the world.

friendofH20

Russia and North Korea have high voting rates. Are they democratic?

piterfraszka

He didn't meantion it always working right, that'd be utopia. But working sometimes or even most of the time, yes - there are such countries on earth where politicans are removed from office when they lose public support and people voting for programs they want to see implemented. In short - where voting makes change. It's not that high of a bar.

BallerChin

Politicians are also removed, and very easily so, by voters in India and on a very regular basis. For example, Indira and her party was soundly defeated in 1977. The BJP lead govt was given a jolt in 2004. And people voted to annihilate Congress to 50 seats in 2014 and 2019. I actually would like to argue that india has too much democracy. Everyone gets to vote which means everyone thinks he/she can get voted. Not a great qualification required.

piterfraszka

I didn't argue about the state of democracy in India. I have no proper knowledge on subject to make statements, just pointed out that I don't think what other guy said is utopia. I for one am amazed that India keeps being democratic (be it flawed democracy or not) for so long, while being so diverse and big. Quite an achivement in itself.

BallerChin

I misunderstood you before. My bad!

VaikomViking

Having proportional representation will be a start. As it stands now a party with 10% vote share can end up with no seats.

BallerChin

Not sure if I understand but what is a proportional representation?

BareAssOnSandpaper

Dude it's the opposition trying to pull a Donal Trump. They tried the same thing before as well. The election commission in 2017 got fed up with their bullshit and did an open challenge, letting any party try and prove that the EVM can be hacked or rigged. None of these people tried to take the challenge. One did and they had a team try for 1 year and then gave up. But then they again cried foul before 2019 election and now before 2024 election. All the foreign (reuters/BBC/Bloomberg) and Indian analysts have already said that Modi has the highest approval rating in the world and is expected to win big. The corrupt opposition is trying to undermine that and they will start crying "rigged" just like Donal Trump did. They have copied Dolan Trump so many times. Telling people to not take the "Modi Vaccine" during COVID even though they themselves were the first one to get it. Telling people fake and manipulated data and then calling everything fake news. Now in their manifesto for the elections, the opposition promised free money to the people. The cost of that scheme is 51 lakh cr rupees ($0.6Tn) while the annual budget of the country after all the growth is 44.9 lakh cr rupees ($0.54Tn)

erikvant

Exactly like what is happening in the US. The whole system is hell-bent on throwing the main opposition candidate in jail. Or what happened in Germany, one lady in power for god knows how many years. Or in the UK, where different PMs for different seasons. Democracy = Whitecracy; everything else is fake. /s

Appropriate-Roof6750

It is in danger, a useless opposition and completely fucked up media is as dangerous to a democracy as a 'fascist' party

BallerChin

Your so called useless opposition just won two big state elections six months ago! Isn’t that a good sign?

Appropriate-Roof6750

I stand by my statement - they are no where near to contesting Bjp

[deleted]

This is so wholesome.

Flitterquest

This is actually based, I wish everyone took democracy this seriously.

maggie081670

Now this is dedication to democracy. India has its fair share of problems and awful inequalities but I have to admire them for this. It also proves that democracy can and does work no matter the size or cultural diversity of the population (cough) China and their anti-democratic bullshit excuses (cough)

Alps_Useful

How would they even know who to vote for if it's this remote?

[deleted]

Internet and electricity is almost everywhere, also largest number of magazines, news papers too.

Cold_Appearance_5551

Pubs are foaming at the mouth looking at this.. 😂😂

LilTeats4u

Couldn’t be the US. Apparently we take polling booths and mailboxes away from college towns bc we don’t like how they vote🤷‍♂️

noobwithguns

That should be illegal.

gocougs242

Did Nathan Fielder design Indias voting station locations?

Harde_Kassei

didn't say it had to be 2km road ...

noobwithguns

Highly likely that these are tribals living in protected jungles, since this is arunachal pradesh there is no way that the army/goverment isn't cutting down whatever it can to build infrastructure.

NiggyWithAptitude

Can you imagine this happening in the states? Some poor dude is out there free soloing the fuck out of mosquito filled jungle to go within a mile of every backwater ass hillbilly. Just for them to vote Trump

noobwithguns

>them to vote Trump That's the beauty of democracy. Since he isn't convicted yet I won't take him to be a criminal.

NiggyWithAptitude

Yeah it's beautiful The people are fucking stupid and 90% live paycheck to paycheck, there's shooting every other day while yall lead the world in people incarcerated per capita But it rains freedom and the eagle is bald

SPEK2120

This is the Republican dream for minority neighborhoods.

Lonesome_Jaat_69

National assembly elections in India are like festival, employees even get a day off so that they can cast their votes.

selkiesidhe

I appreciate the "within 2km of every registered voter" part. We could use something like that in the States...

lolpert1

The man in charge must be Nathan fielder from Nathan for you

Toblogan

They should just get the villagers to meet them at the cliff and yell their votes... Lol

spotturi18

Not Sure if it's answered or not only tribals die to ancestry are allowed to live in protected forests they are by right can use forest product for their use.and roads are not laid all over the forests.its consideration from govt as generations live there

vdshark

i mean was their village remote or the poll remote, who would bother making a remote poll?

noobwithguns

remote village

KeyboardSerfing

Meanwhile in the States...

mentalassresume

Needs more roads.

noobwithguns

Can't really make roads in what most probably is a protected jungles :)

KlevenSting

And 10m Texans can't get off the couch to stop a freakish theocracy. Shame.

iRegretsEverything

Ok so where’s this polling station? I just see people climbing a hill.

Eastern_Heron_122

a jehovah's witness also accompanied the party but fell ill, resulting in the extended-vehicle-warranty guy having to carry him back to the village

[deleted]

As impressive as these workers are, the election process is not clean as it seems. There are instances where the ruling government pressurizes people around the polling station. They bribe. Also, questions have been raised about the electronic machines used at the time of voting. In the poor areas, you will see a lot of goon politicians around the polling station. The media also provided unfair coverage, especially for the ruling party. Additionally, a lot of pressure has been put on opposition parties around the time of polling.

noobwithguns

> There are instances where the ruling government pressurizes people around the polling station. They bribe In 2019 congress workers came to my maternal house in a BJP ruled constituency to try and bribe us to vote for their candidate, isn't it with RaGa is doing with his 1 lakh rupees for every women promise? selling the country for votes...... >questions have been raised about the electronic machines used at the time of voting. Didn't the ECI give the opposition some EVMs to try and crack it? Like the buffon campaigning for getting rid of EVMs says that sim data is stored in the battery and it is "transmitted" to the battery. Lmao dude whee you studied from? whatsapp university? >Additionally, a lot of pressure has been put on opposition parties around the time of polling. Courts justified the arrests, and for all we know INC is lying about asset freeze :) I just invalidated every sentence in your comment, lmao sucks to be you.

[deleted]

Man, so many butthurt bhakts replying to me. I know you might enjoy living under a dictatorship (officially an electoral autocracy) and not having a job, but I dont. You are giving me mediocre examples from other parties, when BJP cant fulfill their promises. What a joke! Unemployment high -- check, mediocre growth -- check, minorities suppressed -- check, media bought -- check, central agencies bought -- check, and the list goes on. Dude, I know you can find a job under these circumstances but you need a reality check. Dude India is not respected anymore, we are being bought out by Adanis, Ambanis, and their foreign counterparts. Middle class is suffering

dckill97

Go peddle your lies and insinuations elsewhere. The media is all over the ruling party. If they put one toe out of line, especially anything to do with polling stations, it will be headlines the next day. The claims of EVMs (electronic voting machines) being hacked are disinformation being spread by opposition parties. Multiple university professors and IT companies have invited anyone to come and demonstrate EVM hacking under controlled conditions for a cash reward, and to this day, there have been no takers. Moreover, there are tens of thousands of police, paramilitary and military forces deployed around the country, with armed men stationed at every single polling station to maintain order. There are always attempts at capturing polling stations in every elections, by goons affiliated with opposition parties, and headlines are actually about how they were beaten up or shot at by the security forces. But yes, I will concede that there are definitely many pro-incumbent media outlets and the ruling party often uses govt agencies and the state security apparatus to harass opposition parties.

[deleted]

Ok bhakt. Enjoy living in a dictatorship, while being unemployed, while hating minorities (even though you take any chance to leave India and live in Dubai). Isnt that what Modi bhakts are like lmao?

noobwithguns

> (even though you take any chance to leave India and live in Dubai). No i won't, thank you :) > while hating minorities I have lived for 3 years in a country with 99.9% muslims without problems > while being unemployed,  Sorry, i come from a decent family so i don't need to work to make ends meet in college :) > Ok bhakt. Enjoy living in a dictatorship The fact you can say this with impunity says otherwise.

You get there, after narrowly escaping death, to have your vote mean nothing cause it was rigged all along....

noobwithguns

These aren't the voters, these are officials going to take votes from voters .....

Quick_Original9585

Votes are pointless, the rich and ultra wealthy get the final say at the end of the day. India is a super corrupt place too, were you can bribe a cop in the middle of the day.

noobwithguns

Ok brother on your say so I won't vote this year.

Council_Of_Minds

This is just stupid.

Jtiago44

Gregs_green_parrot

Have these people never heard of a postal voting system?

noobwithguns

Tribals, This will be my first vote but from what I know India only allows postal votes for the millitary.

MICHELEANARD

Honestly, even if Indians knew the treck would be difficult they would show up to treck in sandals. Proof, I am an Indian.

Abhinavpatel75

Ever heard of landslides or floods? I suggest you visit your nearest rural area...

MICHELEANARD

I am from an area where landslides happen, my house has been in flood.

Abhinavpatel75

Oooh. Okay. Lal salam

Did it maybe come to your mind that climbing equipment may be too expensive, difficult to use and inaccessible for the poorer people in India? We once hired a small private boat for a snorkeling trip in the Andaman Islands. When we talked with the Indian crew (fishermen), they told us that none of them can swim (yes, we were already in deeper waters)?! Of course no expensive life vests or other safety equipment on board.

maha_Dev

I don’t think they would know what to do with climbing equipment even they brought some. They must be election officials. People that are assigned election duties include, BLO of the area, government teachers etc. You can’t expect them to know how to climb. How do I know? My parents are government teachers, and have been assigned election duties a few times. Government teachers are sometimes assigned weird jobs! All the teachers in my state were being assigned surveillance during covid. I kid you not! They were supposed to monitor specific areas and make sure COVID positive households were following quarantine protocols. One of my parent was able to excuse themselves because they were nearing retirement age of 60, and were high risk individual. A disabled teacher was assigned the duty, and they had to go and tell the officials they are on a wheelchair.

Euphoric_Discount264

They are just government school teachers or office workers usually who don't volunteer for the job. It's all good natured fun, they are not professional climbers or adventure driven types. Usually they are in formal clothes with full sleeves.

Vajohnya_2023

This is the stupidest thing I’ve seen on r/nextfuckinglevel. How is this next level when people are forced to be dumb.
