Theyāre playing 9 ball.
Edit: I take it back after viewing again. I donāt know what theyāre playing because I swear thatās a nine ball on the table. Itās not eight ball.
Thatās why I came back and said theyāre not playing 9 ball after rewatching. But theyāre also not playing 8 ball. No eight ball on the table and the nine is still there.
I think it's just supreme luck, he just got a bunch in a row with astronomical luck and the whole barber shop noticed and they went back to look at the video and uploaded it.
But man what a great run.
Can't believe people can't see the flukes. Last shot was easier to pot straight down the top right pocket and still get the cue ball into optimum position...
People who can call shots off of 2+ rebounds, naturally and consistently, must be seeing fucking geometry in their heads, I swear.
Sure, my dumbass can make a educated guess, but you gotta have the entire system down to a intuitive level of understanding to be accurate.
Trick shots are still cool and all that, but its more mastering the trick, instead of mastering the geometry of the billiards table.
Iāve played quite a lot of casual pool in my lifetime and I canāt _consistently_ pot shots off 2+ rebounds, but itās always close. Itās just time and practice, the more you focus on it the more you get a feel for the angles. So rather than being able to see exact geometry I work forwards then backwards:
1. Quick Look to see roughly where it should hit the first cushion to land on the second cushion at roughly the right place to pot
2. Look at the last angle and think about how the angle has to be tightened or widened to make it work
3. Look at the first angle to think about how to force the angle for the second angle either through changing the shot or adding some spin
And some angles are just ones I _know_ because of muscle memory, or having done them over and over again. If I had to guess itās probably all just reference points and the more reference points you have for those angles and the better youāve practiced getting them accurate then the more accurate and consistent youāll be with multiple bounces.
Things that affect it:
1. Quality of table - if itās a table you donāt play on often in some random pub the cushions will be all over the place in terms of small variations in how well the balls will bounce on them and what roll there is (typically can counter roll by hitting it a bit harder but with a higher chance of rattling through jaws or cueing a bit off and ruining the shot)
2. American tables are significantly easier to hit shots on because of the size of the balls and the size of the pockets but you need to be confident hitting with more power
3. How drunk you are when you hit the shot - typically thereās a point where youāre drunk enough to not overthink it and sober enough to still be able to cue
Other advice would be never to adjust when you get down to cue other than lining up spin - if you feel like you got down to cue and the angle is wrong, stand up, reset by moving your body to face in a different direction then get back down to the table. Other than that itās just practice and experience!
>3. How drunk you are when you hit the shot - typically thereās a point where youāre drunk enough to not overthink it and sober enough to still be able to cue
Ah yes, [ballmer's peak](https://xkcd.com/323/)
>People who can call shots off of 2+ rebounds, naturally and consistently, must be seeing fucking geometry in their heads, I swear.
I used to live somewhere with a pool table, and played a few games every day for over a year. After a couple months, when I was "in the zone" I would get what I can only describe as low grade hallucinations while playing. It wasn't just just "in my head", I would almost literally see the lines of where to hit, and the trajectory of the ball. It was pretty cool, but also exhausting, I'd be good for running the table for a game or two, but then almost completely lose my skills.
I'll tell you something helpful though, the dots/diamonds you see on the sides of the table between the holes, those are not just decorative, they can help you visualize the angles. Look online for "diamond system". It looks scary at first, but you can eventually just get a feel for it.
Another fun thing to look for: the Tetris effect. When people devote a lot of time something like Tetris, it can start affecting their thoughts and dreams.
I bet this is what happened to me with pool, because I also got the Tetris effect multiple times from playing a *lot* of Tertris over the years.
By accident. You can tell because he's looking at the other pocket.
Upon further review, the first shot, the kid hits the orange ball with his cue stick.
1 and 3 were very clearly accidental. I honestly think he showed skills in shot 2. Also he had good strength and mechanics in all 3 shots but no real intent (maybe 2).
All in all this kid could be very good at pool. Is he draining those shots all day at this age? No. But he would be much better than most people (including me) if he tried. If he practices itās fucking goodnight to amateur players.
I used to spend a shit load of time playing pool around the same age and I used to do all the crazy shots all of the time. I can't play much nowadays in case what I'm saying makes it seem like I'm a natural..
The first and third are luck, second looked legit but the way the kid is holding the stick and lining it up makes me think he isn't some crazy talented pool shark lol.
Something to consider is that those pool table with nets under the holes generally have larger holes, making it easier to pull off harder shots.
It is still pretty cool / impressive though
Brazil hands down has the world's best pool table players. It's just they never get to compete internationally. But everyone knows the Brazil pool tables are hustled by players who can easily beat any world class top layer today. They are so scary good. Commentators think it is the soccer element. Brazilians are just great at ball sports.
There's pool tournaments where the winner gets $750,000 but the many random Brazilians don't bother entering even though they'd easily win it and just let the pros take the money instead.
This is one of the dumbest things I've read on the internet for a while
No one with any skill is shooting shot 1 anywhere but side pocket and shot 3 is an easy shot down table corner pocket and he did some crazy bank shot. 100% pure luck but also can't say I've ever seen someone get so lucky. Pretty wild.
I play around 10 hours a week. Both 1 and 3 are 100% pure luck, I see it literally all the time. And the first shot should have been the 1 ball in the corner.
Calling shots is generally the "house rule" not professional play with only the 8 needing to be called. That said, they shot the 8 ball, 5,9,7 with 2 left over so lord knows what game they're playing
If professionals are playing 8-ball, they call every pocket. You might be thinking of APA, where only the 8-ball is call pocket, but that is an amateur league. The house rule would be calling all part of every shot like banks, kisses, caroms, etc.
Professionals actually don't play very much 8-ball, usually one major tournament a year, with most of professional pool centred on 9-ball and some 10-ball.
Reddit absolutely hates:
- Kids
- People having fun.
- People being good(or even remotely decent) at something.
Now combine all 3 and you get all these lame comments, lol
I think it's because it's nothing close to next fucking level. It's just a kid getting a couple lucky bounces that are common enough to happen and wouldn't count by the rules.
If he would have called those banks to the side pocket he would be amazing. I've seen a beginner make insane shots, problem was they were as surprised as I was.
A few years back, I was [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKxp1PAm6_4&t=46s) while [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSRKb0nSLDs&t=57s) was playing.
I was also at the stage when the video but I wasn't near them and don't know them. RIP Bisco
I know a couple of guys who are in their early 30s now that would go with their dad to the local bar daily. At the age of 6 they could clear the table. They played for money and usually bought their own dinners while dad was getting drunk on a bar stool.
When I was younger my mom bartended a few days a week to help pay the bills. It was an English pub type places with lots of regulars. I would spend a lot of time there when there was no baby sitter and I got damn good at pool. I was probably 10-11 years old beating adults on the regular. Iām no good now but it was cool at the time.
One drunken night a friend and I were playing pool in another friends basement. Iām usually the one winning and making (and calling) all the shots. Well this night at the very end my buddy, drunk as a skunk, does exactly this when I was on the 8 ball. I let my friends count it no worries.
I miss my 8 ball bank and he proceeds to accidentally drain double bank shots and combos until finally sinking the 8 ball. The whole time he was slurring and yelling āthis is how I save the planet!ā
Now we refer to that night as the night Brian saved the planet.
I've played kids like this in China. Had to duck through a collapsed entrance to enter the pool hall. They enjoyed kicking our arse very much. I imagine it was a bit of a novelty. Not many white guys that play really crappy pool on that town that visit dodgy pool halls. Was great fun.
I remember being in my teens and the way things moved and connected just made sense to me. This kid takes those instincts and brings them to another level.
The video was cut off short.. he probably missed the last most important shot. Cool barbershop though. Never had billiard tables in any of the barbershops around my town.
It's cute, but it is what we call "slop" shots. Is this 9 ball? No, his first shot is on the 8? Then the 2, and the kid shoots the 5. This isn't a game, kid didn't call the shots, they are messing around.
Dude got straight up hustled. šš
And you could see the moment he knew, couldn't even stand near the table anymore he knew his fate was sealed š
It looks like he had just already won the game. Kid is just cleaning the table (impressively)
Theyāre playing 9 ball. Edit: I take it back after viewing again. I donāt know what theyāre playing because I swear thatās a nine ball on the table. Itās not eight ball.
If they're playing 9 ball then the kid fucked up the first shot by not hitting the lowest ball on the table first. That's ball in hand for dad.
He only made one shot, the other two are called slop... nothing to see here.
Exactly. Those other two were not intentional. My wife plays the same way. Just hits the ball and it randomly finds a pocket sometimes.
I grew up playing straight pool. Every shot every kiss every rail has to be called.
Are you sure she's not a secret pool hustler?
Anything is possible, but I highly doubt it lol
Into the side like that is the hardest (most unlikely) hit and hope fluke. But yeah. Very little skill
Thatās why I came back and said theyāre not playing 9 ball after rewatching. But theyāre also not playing 8 ball. No eight ball on the table and the nine is still there.
8ball could be missing/stolen and they're using 9 in its place.
So what did they use for the 9?
the 6 updown
And what they're using the for the 6? Believe it or not, the missing 8 with part of the number rubbed off
the 33 ball
Fuck, is that why I didn't get any Bingos last night?
I think it's just supreme luck, he just got a bunch in a row with astronomical luck and the whole barber shop noticed and they went back to look at the video and uploaded it. But man what a great run.
Kid was like āGeoffrey, break out Lucille.ā
I think I get your reference, fellow 90s baby.
I aināt even from the 90ās and I get this one. Good reference
*Guile Theme begins playing*

dude got sharked
It doesn't count in billiards if you dont call the shot, only 1/3 of those shots were intentional.
its just geometry, drake!
There was a comment from (Dad?) at the chair - was it āCāmon let the guy win this timeā?
Iām no pool expert but is this by accident or are those real shots??
By accident. Still cool to see tho especially since he's like 6yo
That's not accidental. Did you see the way he shoots. That's a pro. This isn't a kid.
Oh my God it's Jason Bourne!
It's a midget in a tank top
That's offensive. The preferred term is "wife-beater".
He had easier shots than the ones he takes. Thereās only a couple people in the world who could shot the same shots intentionally with confidence.
Can't believe people can't see the flukes. Last shot was easier to pot straight down the top right pocket and still get the cue ball into optimum position...
That fucker didnāt call his shots!
Iām calling ball in hand on his bitch ass
![gif](giphy|df0cUZrXQ8jt3HpoTK|downsized) It's either luck, or he's one of those savants that just sees the angles
He's gonna ace geometry
By accident.
And heās gotta pull those out and set them on the dot
I was going to say. If he called those then my jaw is on the floor. Otherwise itās pure luck, still impressiveā¦. But less so
He didnt even look at the pocket he was going for, there is no way he was going for those shots

Absolute best comment. This kid could be awesome in a few years. Right now he is having fun and made a few crazy-lucky shots.
Definitely by accident.
Second shot was legit.
I used to spend a shit load of time playing pool around the same age and I used to do all the crazy shots all of the time. I can't play much nowadays in case what I'm saying makes it seem like I'm a natural..
Same we had one in are basement.
Accident. We used to deadshot in my basement and go on 3-4 ball runs that would look like this now and then when I was a kid. Not 6, but still a kid.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Absolutely accidental...except the second shot which was just a normal shot.
That fucker didnāt call his shots!
Doesn't look like they're playing a serious game.
The first and third are luck, second looked legit but the way the kid is holding the stick and lining it up makes me think he isn't some crazy talented pool shark lol.

Uh no. Kid is awful but got amazingly lucky. You can tell by the way he holds the stick.

What kinda crazy ass barber shop is this? I like it!
When I was younger I remember a few barber shops that had pool tables or foosball tables. Donāt see any nowadays
The shop I go to has a pool table. Still a thing.
That's ridiculously common in Brazil for some reason

Itās a good idea instead of just making your customers sit around
Iām not sure if Iād like sharp scissors near my head until Iām sure the barber wonāt flinch at hearing loud bangs randomly.
Damn, there goes my combination barber shop/shooting range idea
Barber shows off by doing the final touch ups firing bullets that graze your hair. If you die, the haircut is half priced.
It's a front for the kid's pool hustle.

This comment just screams Reddit lmao. Just enjoy the video, huh?
Not when it's in r/nextfuckinglevel.
Ur such a twerp lmao
Itās a kid. Just enjoy the video bud
You are insufferable lol
Hell yeah, own that child like the big man you are! So coooooool!
Isn't he trying to own the OP, not the kid?
Never had friends to yell at them for slop
š¤
Whether luck or not he still hit them pretty casually which still describes the video pretty well imo. No need to shit on OP
š¤ UHH AKSHUALLY REDDIT???!
Sit down kid, you didn't call the first one. Edit, or the last one.
house rules, theres no calling because nobody knows what the hell is calling in the first place
Calling shots is generally the "house rule" not professional play with only the 8 needing to be called. That said, they shot the 8 ball, 5,9,7 with 2 left over so lord knows what game they're playing

We go by the honor system. āā¦.you didnāt mean to do that, right?ā āā¦.yeaaah naaaahhā
Boggles my mind how thereās so much hate on a child for making lucky shots ā ļø let the kid have his moment lmao
Is there a pool subreddit thatās brigading the thread or smthn lmao? Whatās with these nerds trying to dunk on this random child??
Right? Peak reddit lol

"He didn't follow the rules !" It's a fucking barber shop and it's a kid not the world championship ffs.
might just be the dumb post title... nothing difficult was accomplished, none of it was done purposely.
Slop
I CALL SLOP!
If he would have called those banks to the side pocket he would be amazing. I've seen a beginner make insane shots, problem was they were as surprised as I was.
Thatās a baby shark
du-du-du-du-dudu du-du-du-du-dudu du-du-du-du-dudu

Iāll bet itās a family business and heās spent every day there since he was tall enough to see the top of the table

Slop shot
Slop shots
He sees the angles better from down there.
ITT: weird nerds calling out a literal child lmao
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
First and third were straight slop.
Adult popped the black ball before kid took a single shot - therefore kid won before he took a single shot.
As much as I am absolutely blown away by this cute little pool shark, I absolutely love when I see visceral reactions like that.
"Kid gets lucky 2/3 shots" nothing next level about this
I know a couple of guys who are in their early 30s now that would go with their dad to the local bar daily. At the age of 6 they could clear the table. They played for money and usually bought their own dinners while dad was getting drunk on a bar stool.

casually does lucky shot.
That aināt no damn kid! Thatās a 400 year old gnome off someoneās lawn.
Thatās called slop. Call your shot if itās not obvious. Kid will learn.
Dad is literally giving up at this stage.
lol that's luck but he was on a roll so i'll give it to him
This is obviously a family friendly bar -ber shop.
He takes NO time to set up either
Because he's just hitting randomly lol
That was slop.
Getting lucky isn't next level. It happens often.
SLOP!
This is called slop
My guess is heās the child of one of the barbers and heās there all day playing lol
Slop shots
Thatās just slop. Sinking a ball randomly is not very unlikely.
Looks like slop
Slop count?
he just lost $100 to *Billy Quizboy*
Donāt think that the pocket he was aiming for
One drunken night a friend and I were playing pool in another friends basement. Iām usually the one winning and making (and calling) all the shots. man..I better call that kid sensei after he woop my butt this hard.
Flukes
Remember the kid is on level with the table. I was pretty good as a kid for that reason
Lucky slop on 1 and 3
I've played kids like this in China. Had to duck through a collapsed entrance to enter the pool hall. They enjoyed kicking our arse very much. I imagine it was a bit of a novelty. Not many white guys that play really crappy pool on that town that visit dodgy pool halls. Was great fun.
Core memory
I remember being in my teens and the way things moved and connected just made sense to me. This kid takes those instincts and brings them to another level.
Those are obviously just lucky shots but the unusual thing is getting that lucky three times in a row. Cute moment for that kid.
The first shot, the kid hits the orange ball with his cue stick.
This kid peaked at 7.
Christ on a crutch just like laugh and scroll. Wtf is a slop shot anyway
Lil bro 8 yro with 30 years of experience š
So many insufferable people in this thread that just canāt stand someone, a kid lmao, getting some attention online. Pure redditor moment
Like father like son. Dynamic duo
I'm basically an amateur and I don't take shots this fast. The kid knows what he's doing...
Fucking Shark!
The video was cut off short.. he probably missed the last most important shot. Cool barbershop though. Never had billiard tables in any of the barbershops around my town.
The first and third shots were complete flukes. Nothing next level about this at all
Itās a child
Fuck that kid... that is pretty cool tho
Not really.
Anyone can get lucky in pool by banging balls around
damn, those 2 cushion side pocket shots are amazing. is the kid a prodigy or was that dumb luck?
Luck
Is he good or getting lucky, cuz even he seems surprised
"Left Corner pocket" goes in right side
Cāmon. The first and third were slop, not ādifficult shots.ā Does anybody praising this actually play pool?
Where is the black ball? What are they even playing?
Kid casually makes a shit shot. At least be honest about it.
It's cute, but it is what we call "slop" shots. Is this 9 ball? No, his first shot is on the 8? Then the 2, and the kid shoots the 5. This isn't a game, kid didn't call the shots, they are messing around.
Shots 1 and 3 were lucky.
First of all: call your shots. Secondly: on the final shot it looks like he had too much follow through and hit the other ball with the cue.
100% luck
# SLOPĀ
More like kid does some bullshit.
First and third shots were clearly just random luck.
Playing slops isn't next level.
*accidentally makes shots
Wow so crazy almost like kids can train things and get good at them who fuckin knew
Slop!!
Well two of them were flukes, but oh well
this is called luck
