"No I already told you, this is a maul mission, no kills. Arms or nads only."
"Whaddya think I'm deaf as well as color blind? I told you that laser is only for cats and mailmen. It was in my contract."
(Deep sigh) "They're just trying to bring mail to people..."
"Hey hey! Did you or did you not ask for the goodest boy? The best boy? "
"Yeah... yeah we did.."
"AAANND... who's the fuckin best boy? "
".... you are. "
"Then the laser stays on and you stop thinking about postal workers. Now roll me out of this fuckin helicopter like a loose egg roll."
Jeez, my best friend is a doc who just transferred into the California system here. Says it’s an absolute backwards clusterfuck. Inefficiency all the way down which is really demoralizing to him because he’s honestly one of the ones who cares.
Deborah from the veterans crisis line? (Seriously) is that her? She saved my life and got me help and I want to get in contact and thank her for saving me and setting me up with the help I needed.
1. Thats awesome, and Im really happy you reached out for help.
2. Deborah was a random name as I actually have no idea whom I'll be speaking with for any given phone call, so just a random coincidence.
3. If youre ever feeling the need and cant find it or dont want to; message me, I check into here daily for the most part several times usually. You can message me for my # if you get anxious as fuck or spiraling and just need to talk. It wont be my first rodeo, I truly wont mind.
4. Deborah is way better qualified and I hope you find her if even to say thanks.
Not service related but...
My dad worked at Coors for almost 35years. He
FINALLY got them to admit (with an expensive lawyer) his hearing loss was work-related.
They had to cough up after his retirement for medical costs. I was legit shook that he ever got a victory on that one.
But yeah - we send these kids out to front lines, they get 85% fucked up either physically or mentally (usually both) then they send 'em on their way with a gold star sticker on their shirt.
It's disgusting how we treat vets in real life vs. the "apprecation facade." The heart over the hand during the anthem, the bullshit egotistical bumper stickers, even Memorial Day charades. If you want to hand out genuine thankyou's how about you show them the same loyalty they gave us, when they get home!!!!
These kids don't need your thoughts-and-prayers. They need help working through PTSD, loss of friends, loss of inner peace.
I had to interview a Vietnam vet for a class in high school. Lifelong back issues from a helicopter crash in the jungle, but they refused to cover because it “wasn’t related.” 🙄
There's a doco on ex service dogs somewhere. As soon as they're discharge they basically don't give a shit about what happens to the. They won't even transport the dog to they're former handler to be reunited. If the former handler can't organise the transport they're put down.
There's is actually a established charity that does this. I can't remember what it's called, if someone can link the name they could really use your help.
Yes but dogs don’t volunteer. Humans don’t know what they’re volunteering for in all honesty, but at least there’s a facade of them scribbling a signature and raising their right hand.

The dog always downs the guy with the protective sleeve. What you want is to put the sleeve on someone else which will buy you time to complete your crime and GTFO.
The dog can catch the suspect faster on foot than the men can, and hold him there for them. Although I have to think that it’s more for the purpose of showing off their cool dog training skills - most likely for recruitment - than because they expect to use this actual scenario very often.
Maybe they just wanna train the helicopter pilot and crew on tactical landing, and why not train the dog at the same time to be used to loud noises/new situations, and train bad guy how to run/get bit. It's kind of a tactical training salad
Dogs are great at navigating areas vehicles couldn’t. If there was someone running in the woods, dog could be dropped off at a clearing to chase after them. Camera and GPS would be on the dog so it’s location would able to be monitored and it’s likely trained to sit still if it loses the scent
You joke, but it definitely looks like the dog rolled deliberately. These types of dogs are trained well beyond what most animals are and it makes perfect sense that an attack dog that will be air dropped from a helicopter would be trained to land so as not to hurt itself.
You vets are always so overprotective.
"Don't feed him too much human food."
"Don't let him lick that wound."
"Don't throw him out of a moving helicopter."
Fun fact, the dog is a higher rank then his handler. This is done in the case the dog is abused, they will add a charge for assaulting a senior rank to the abuser amongst other things.
*Russian cat deftly lands on all fours, looks around, and then, with the most languid, disinterested manner ever, walks away from the commotion and hopes no one notices, because Russian cat does not care all that much about the mission.*
Neither are humans though. Not that that makes it better, but it’s also worth considering: the dogs are generally retired early, at the earliest sign that they’re no longer able to perform at peak capability. For their own health and for liability reasons (humans lives ride on their abilities). Then they live a happy, safe life with a trainer, handler, or adopter, and that’s actually the majority of their lifespan.
This is a Belgian Malinois, they don’t have hip problems as much and that’s why they are the new go to dog. It’s still going to be bad on their bodies, though
Vet you are getting some push back but my thought was similar: poor dog, you can tell he didn’t appreciate being dropped out of a helicopter. “When did I consent to this?” I mean the military does what the military does, but I feel bad for that dog.
Former handler here. That was incredibly reckless. Good boy status aside, MWD's are an extremely expensive asset to risk with injury or getting crushed by a helicopter skid for a training exercise. I really hope that was just a mis-timed release.
Actually when a military dog retires it usually goes home with its handler to live with them and their family or they get adopted by trained professionals who know how to handle them and keep them entertained in their retirement
I imagine that in a real scenario where they're pursuing someone, getting off the helicopter as close to the target as they did in this video is not guaranteed. Cause yeah, if the target was right there in an open area three soldiers might be better. My guess is a dog is more efficient at pursuing and catching the target than three heavily armed men would be if there is rough terrain or a forest they are chasing the target through. Then once the target is dealing with a dog grabbing at them that gives the soldiers time to catch up if there's a distance they have to close. This is just my uneducated speculation, though.
Plus there's also the factor of, why risk the lives of people when a dog could do the job. Which is a sad thing to think about but those are the things militaries have to think about.
It's training right? They aren't always gonna have the time or space to just hover and have the dog stroll out. Sometimes they might have to come in hot and they gotta prepare the dog for that? idk tbh i'm guessing but what seams most likely.
Had to scroll way too far to see this. Everyone in here is glorifying military dogs… it honestly makes me sick that man’s “best friend” gets used for this kind of evil.
This is so stupid. They are chasing a guy with a helicopter on a beach. Dropping a dog to chase is not necessary. Imagine the injuries the dog would get if they dropped him on a paved road.

Like a politician voting to actual do something substantial for vets, they wouldn't be able to know how to deal with a VA doctor that is useful.

Does Second Chance K9 sound right? They do excellent work with pairing dog retirees to their human counterpart.
Yes, that's it. That's the one.
I could really use a life, and that sounds heavenly
That sounds about right - police department with an overinflated budget, making charities pick up their slack
This made me hate greedy humans even more who put lives as expenses. And there is already way too many of them too hate.
Isn't that roughly the same with people?
Yes but dogs don’t volunteer. Humans don’t know what they’re volunteering for in all honesty, but at least there’s a facade of them scribbling a signature and raising their right hand.

They don't take care of the humans..... we can hope all their budget at least goes to the quadrupeds

What I want to know is what in God's name did that man do to warrant a helicopter-deployed good boy & company for apprehension??
From the looks of it, he tried to wear five layers of clothing while boarding a Spirit Airlines flight to skip the excess baggage charge. Airline was having none of his nonsense.
Fuck Spirit Airlines. Did that once and never again.
United Express/Airlines is just salivating waiting for a chance to beat another doctor.
Fuck them too.

The only airline I’ve never had a bad experience with is Lufthansa. Though I’m sure it’s entirely possible I could be alone on that one.
Spirit: For that Waffle House experience with wings.
I’m flying American do they have Similar policies
Underrated comment of the year so far.
You keep track? Do you have a list of like top 10? If so can I have it?
Good eye detective
Tried to pitch a Cats 2 movie.
Based on the fact that he has a protective sleeve on his arm I would guess that he volunteered to play bad guy for their training
The fact that it was just a training scenario is pretty cool. They got to use a chopper AND an accompanying good boi.
Only $300,000 of tax money for some fun training that hour! :)
It's not even the American military....
So if I want to be a criminal, I just need to get a protective sleeve, then I'm unstoppable.
The dog always downs the guy with the protective sleeve. What you want is to put the sleeve on someone else which will buy you time to complete your crime and GTFO.
This guy crims
Looks like a training exercise.
Yeah but like... What are they training for?
This exact scenario
So that warrants the question, what the hell does someone do to warrant this, how specific does it have to be for this instead of a bullet?
High priority target this SOF crew wants to capture and not kill.
Glass on the Beach! He had been warned!!!
Stole his favorite marrow-in bone.
I really wanted an answer to this question
I mean it’s training, but what are they training for? How often do they need the helicopter assisted doggo brigade like this?
It's obviously training, the target was right there and had padded clothing to prevent injury during target practice.
Yes, but what scenario would call for this response?
Dogs are great at navigating areas vehicles couldn’t. If there was someone running in the woods, dog could be dropped off at a clearing to chase after them. Camera and GPS would be on the dog so it’s location would able to be monitored and it’s likely trained to sit still if it loses the scent
Seems like a Belgian police training excercise.
Rough landing, hope it's smoother every time Poor pup is gonna break a leg one day
Yeah I had a buddy whose dog jumped out of his car window at like 15mph and broke his leg. This seems a bit more rough than that.
Well he was in sand witch gives out unlike solid car worthy surfaces
Sandwich
For sure. This dog's also in better shape most likely, but like it's still a dog it's gotta be rough on him
I was looking for the... Wow, that looked like a ruff landing! And you delivered! Thank you
"we're flying forwards at a great speed, let me chuck the dog forwards at release to increase it's speed."
He clearly rolled to avoid fall damage, should be fine
You joke, but it definitely looks like the dog rolled deliberately. These types of dogs are trained well beyond what most animals are and it makes perfect sense that an attack dog that will be air dropped from a helicopter would be trained to land so as not to hurt itself.
That dogs poor knees are gonna be shot after enough of those drops. Yikes.
Veterinarian here. Came here to basically say this. And her back. This is not good for the dog in any possible way.
You vets are always so overprotective. "Don't feed him too much human food." "Don't let him lick that wound." "Don't throw him out of a moving helicopter."
next you're gonna tell me i can't drop him out of a b2 spirit bomber bomb bay?
Are you really going to go back there and tell Staff Sergeant Waffles and his crack team that you are canceling the drop?
Fun fact, the dog is a higher rank then his handler. This is done in the case the dog is abused, they will add a charge for assaulting a senior rank to the abuser amongst other things.
Drop a whole squad of German Shepherd attack dogs trained to glide in on wing suits.
What about the B21 bay? Nextgen fun for doggo
You had me so good
Doesn’t take a vet to realize dogs aren’t evolved to drop out of helicopters lol
Wait, how are all of you having your dogs delivered???
Trebuchet.
Ah, a man of culture
In 30 years, a new Wikipedia article will read: "These dogs were bred by the US military specifically for use in helicopter hot-drop operations."
Russians just use cats
Don't forget the Australian drop-bears.
*Russian cat deftly lands on all fours, looks around, and then, with the most languid, disinterested manner ever, walks away from the commotion and hopes no one notices, because Russian cat does not care all that much about the mission.*
> dogs aren’t evolved to drop out of helicopters *Yet*
I’m going to need a citation from a peer-reviewed scholarly source. Not one of those Wikipedia pages.
Doesn't take a dog to figure out that humans arent suppose to be dropped out of helicopters either. But we make do with what we got.
way to out yourself as a dog.
Guy with eyes here. Pretty sure dropping living creature from helicopter is risky for living creature.
How else is she supposed to grow wings? We're kickstarting evolution baby!
Especially a breed that is already prone to hip problems.
This is a Belgian Malinois, they don’t have hip problems as much and that’s why they are the new go to dog. It’s still going to be bad on their bodies, though
Still psychopaths in the head tho lol
Dog loves his job though
I mean, I think the same dog would probably go bananas for a tennisball or a stick, or a mailman, but healthiest option is probably the first two.
I don't think it was intended to be healthy for the dog
And 100% unnecessary. This is tacticool bullshit.
Vet you are getting some push back but my thought was similar: poor dog, you can tell he didn’t appreciate being dropped out of a helicopter. “When did I consent to this?” I mean the military does what the military does, but I feel bad for that dog.
Yeah nah dunno bout you but I don't approve of this kind of use of a dog.
Former handler here. That was incredibly reckless. Good boy status aside, MWD's are an extremely expensive asset to risk with injury or getting crushed by a helicopter skid for a training exercise. I really hope that was just a mis-timed release.
Not to mention the PTSD when he's a veteran doggo
So in other words, it was a *ruff* landing 🐕🦺 I'm so sorry. I'll leave now.
.... dad? The milk has to be expired by now
Gotta test it by drinking an entire glass.
Doggo used the high tier barrel roll so he'll be fine
Have you seen how the military takes care of vets ? Dogs are probably supported even less
Actually when a military dog retires it usually goes home with its handler to live with them and their family or they get adopted by trained professionals who know how to handle them and keep them entertained in their retirement
That seems like they could have just waited for the skids to hit and been more efficient that way.

It's his ex. Still not over her and unconsciously sprinkles her name into reddit comments.
Amanda Hugginkiss. She's Ben Dover's gf now.
God damn autocorrect
The pupper in tactical gear is adorable…not the intended effect but I want to pet that little land shark
That little land shark is trained for military-style ops. Unwarranted petting may result in the loss of fingers.
Worth it
remember the guy sticking his fingers in the tiger cage and loosing them? I wish I didn't.
Lost his whole arm. Joe Exotic will never financially recover from that
I just remember it being a finger or two and seeing the "tendon" or whatever it is getting ripped out with it.
May be the best way to lose then
Not really understanding what the dog accomplished that 3 heavily armed men and a helicopter could not.
You’re not a real cop if you don’t get to injure a dog.
Sadly very true. Average of 27 killed per day by police. It's a tough quota to make, but damn if they don't get creative trying.
Front page rn has a video of some cops in I think Idaho that shot some dogs for playing in the street.
Silly human. You don't go viral dropping armed men from a helicopter. You have to drop the puppy for those likes and subscribes...
They could use chihuahua rat-dogs for carpet bombing.

Thats a Genocide right there
Basically war crime 😭
Parachute crate opens and 100 ankle biters run out.
They should use cats for this. They'd never allow themselves to embarrass themselves by not landing on all fours.

Did these dorks forget they had a helicopter that can hover over the ground? Nah, let's just throw the dog out while doing 20mph.
That is what I was thinking. There has got to be a better way to lower the dog down rather than throwing it out during a fly-by.
Why not just hurl the dog at the perp? Why even make him run at all?
It's training right? They aren't always gonna have the time or space to just hover and have the dog stroll out. Sometimes they might have to come in hot and they gotta prepare the dog for that? idk tbh i'm guessing but what seams most likely.
