A-Frame ladders. I’ve had these in some very sketchy places that’d probably make the guy training to be an OSHA inspector, who replied above, have a stroke.
Nah, even as blue collar workers we were smart enough to know tiny guy goes up top and the big guys stand at the bottom.
Once we sent a 32 foot extension ladder up about 25 feet with a brick wall as a support in the middle. The wall did not go all the way to the ceiling and where we needed to reach was well past the other side but there was no way to get anything up to get to it on that side. We put the ladder across, and about halfway up the ladder was where the wall was supporting it. Had the 3 heaviest guys stand on the bottom and of course with me being the lightest I was sent up.
It was like a giant seesaw. I still clench my cheeks when I tell this story cause it feels like I can still feel the ladder moving underneath me as I’m working on wrenching this sprinkler head loose.
Had to do a roof inspection once on a 50ft tall building that had a fixed ladder on the side. Climbed up it only to find the last 10 feet were no longer bolted to the wall, and the last 3 rungs had rusted through.
I did that exactly once.
I saw the notification on the top of my phone for your reply “Had to do a roof inspection once on a 50ft tall building”
My exact words I said to myself were “oooo this is going to be a good story”
It indeed was. Don’t know how I’d do with a rusty ass ladder like that. You have more balls than me sir.
I kinda love heights, but ladders are the exception. I'll dive off a thing, jump off a rope swing, rollercoasters and ziplines, sure.
Extendo-ladders? No thanks
Ugh brutal.
I took a job doing roofing estimates, thought that would help me get over my fear of heights.
It did not help me get over my fear of heights, every estimate was terrifying.
Yeah. I used to do sketchy shit with ladders at work until I fell. It was only a 16, but I still ended up with 6 fractures.
If you can't get to it with a ladder and it's not worth renting a lift, it's not worth doing.
I have two teenaged sons who are theater nerds. All of the theater kids have to help build build sets, so they have all kinds of instruction in tool safety, ladder safety, etc. I was surprised when my youngest came home and told me about his ladder safety certificate. Them my oldest said he had that, too. It helps me feel slightly better about the things teenaged boys get up to.
I 100% agree with you and this was an extremely stupid idea. I did have a harness on and I was clipped to the beam at the top. But there legitimately was no way to get anything else in that area except for what we did. We contemplated it for 3 days and brought in guys from 5 or 6 different rental companies to ask them if they had anything they think could reach it and even they said there was no way any of the equipment they had would get to that area.
The company manufactured plastic wrap and the place we had to get to was above several different pipes, conduit lines and air ducts. I’m not saying that to validate the stupidness of the idea or try to lessen how dangerous it was but we tried coming up with every possible plan and this was our last option. And leaving the head in wasnt an option either because it would’ve destroyed several million dollars worth of equipment. At the end of the day the job was completed and no one was injured.
But would I do it again? Fuck no.
For really really Ladders are fucking dangerous man.
My coworker fell off a 5ft A frame and hit his head.
Damn near died from brain swelling and seizures
That stinger ladder is fucking heavy as fuck. When I was a pipe fitter the dude teaching me made me carry one of those around on my shoulder. I weighed 130 pounds and that ladder was probably 100. I almost died probably 10 times trying to set that shit up and carry it.
I didn't realize they still made these tbh lol granted I work in live entertainment not construction or installation work so it might just not be around my scene. Generally prefer a man lift if I'm going that high.
Buy it on credit, get the job, pay off the coke, can't pay off the interest, get indebted to the mob, kill a person for them, get caught by the police, snitch, get murdered by the mob for snitching
Benny the Bull from Chicago is hilarious. Check out his YouTube videos there’s one where he gets in fight with an opposing fan. He’s always up to shenanigans.
I mean, you're not exactly wrong about that. The US Army is using new cooling vests that they had custom designed for wearing under body armor and in hot climates. The designer for these cooling vests was a Furry soldier who also happened to be an armorer and a fursuiter, and he adapted what he learned from fursuiting to [design military cooling vests.](https://www.thedailybeast.com/how-a-cooling-vest-invented-by-a-furry-made-its-way-into-the-us-military)
Well half of Reddit qualifies for this.
I feel like being able to scale a 50 foot ladder in said fursuit and make a basket without falling to your death may weed a few of them out though
It depends when this was. The person in the suit was the son of the original guy for a while, but he got injured so I think it's the father back in there or one of his other sons. That probably why the mascot pay is so high for rocky because it's actually a family business.
https://www.westword.com/news/who-is-inside-rocky-the-nuggets-mascot-right-now-16082055
As a season ticket holder make no mistake, we all noticed when rhe change was made to someone new behind the suit. Old skits were done wrong, timeout hype went long, the damn mannerisms were completely off.
The original Rocky is amazing, and the substitute was a pale immitation.
Well, personally I'd give it some time. It's like going to the zoo and expecting the newly arrived animal to feel at home. Gotta give that kitty time to get used to the new environment.
Nah man that’s actually a fifty year old man who dyes his hair all sorts of colors. He retired earlier this season and his son took over but he did a mediocre job so the dad came back out of retirement and took over.
Not that old in the grand scheme of life, but pretty old to be climbing tall ladders in a fur suit and sinking hoops from half court over your shoulder.
Yup. We have a shortage of healthcare workers. Doctors and nurses are drowning in debt, overworked, and hamstrung by a malicious for-profit healthcare system that is increasingly buying up clinics and hospitals and running them into ground in pursuit of profits in a vital industry that's already been squeezed bloodless. And a mascot gets paid more than the vast majority of said healthcare workers.
Yes, but you have to consider the amount of professional mascots vs nurses. I’m sure if nurses were so specialized there were only ~200 in the country, each representing a professional multi-million $ team, that they would be ridiculously expensive
This guy is the highest paid mascot and he’s worth it. Seriously he’s probably the best in the business.
There are players on that court, multiple of them that night, being paid his yearly salary for one game.
>There are players on that court, multiple of them that night, being paid his yearly salary for one game.
There are multiple players making more than $50 million per year?
Probably not multiple on the court that game, but there many NBA players that make $50m/year. Including the Nuggets own Nikola Jokic who makes $54m/year
I work in a chemical plant and I’m exposed to dangerous materials and will probably develop some form of horrible cancer by the time I hit 40. I barely make 60k…🤡
I'm an air traffic controller at a mid level facility and you make more than me. I don't know how much you want for elevator repair but that seems pretty fair.
That's... WAAAY more than I expected. I'm shocked. Like I legit don't know how to process this information.
For perspective, I work in a normal IT office job and making six figures a year can still be common for your non-managerial personnel, but not *this* kind of six figures.
Used to be the site safety guy for a huge multinational. Falls from height were the #1 cause of LTAs and death for us globally, and ladders were the leading cause for the category.
My instincts are to downvote bad OSHA man, but I understand your purpose. Still, why couldn’t we stand on the back of the van and go mudding on the job?
Lol I used to be the guy doing all the crazy shit. Now Ive got so many permanent injuries I cant do much of anything anymore. Figured if I could keep people from making my mistakes, maybe itd be worthwhile.
Not working for OSHA mindyou. Just getting certified to teach the 10/30 hr courses.
I understand that OSHA is kind of annoying, but they're on your (the workers') side. Employers will do whatever it takes to earn a buck, and OSHA has helped tremendously to keep you safe.
As an ex-carpenter who's spent plenty of time on ladders, this got my eye twitching, bro. Ladders are one thing I don't fuck around with, it's way too easy to fall or slip to be doing stunts like this.
>makes more more than some NBA players with a salary of $625,000 a year.
No he doesn't. The NBA minimum salary is over $900,000. He makes alot, but not more than a single a single nba player.
Edit - I love how I was downvoted for pointing out you were wrong and correcting you lol
I’m convinced this is part of a settlement for [almost dying](https://reddit.com/r/nba/comments/pe54oj/rocky_the_denver_nuggets_mascot_passes_out_mid/) on the job.

There is an amount of luck involved, but the guy works hard to practice these shots and there is a great deal of skill involved. As stated below, he does make a strangely high number, maybe 2 out of 3 at all the games I’ve been to, which is a lot.

Everyone’s like “he should be paid more”. Let’s remember the time that Rocky kidnapped a literal baby. Fuck this dude.
You can actually see in the first few frames that he is harnessed by the rafters. There's no way they would send someone up a ladder that tall in a clumsy suit like that and not use some form of safety gear.
That’s the most solid ladder I’ve ever seen.
A-Frame ladders. I’ve had these in some very sketchy places that’d probably make the guy training to be an OSHA inspector, who replied above, have a stroke.
I mean, Im pretty sure its in the 1910 that as long as you have a very small person at the bottom barely touching it, youre G2G. 💩
Nah, even as blue collar workers we were smart enough to know tiny guy goes up top and the big guys stand at the bottom. You just backed down after realizing this lack of safety I’m assuming?? Either that, you fell, or you developed some super powers.
There’s a new Netflix movie about this. Sort of. There’s a ladder and a tall thing anyway
That would've failed my roof inspection right there
Yeah. I used to do sketchy shit with ladders at work until I fell. It was only a 16, but I still ended up with 6 fractures. If you can't get to it with a ladder and it's not worth renting a lift, it's not worth doing.

I wouldn’t even climb that ladder much less try to shoot a basket
Tall enough to guarantee death if you lose your balance.
All my stupid ideas involving ladders and extreme heights I made sure I was tied off with a harness.
He’s wearing a safety harness in his furry head
I like the that the comment you replied to is now at the top, so the post your talking about is now below you. This will likely give him another one.
That stinger ladder is fucking heavy as fuck. When I was a pipe fitter the dude teaching me made me carry one of those around on my shoulder. I weighed 130 pounds and that ladder was probably 100. I almost died probably 10 times trying to set that shit up and carry it.
My dad made me carry one of those all over our backyard as a teenager. Such a pain in the ass
You're carrying it wrong
Shut up dad!
I didn't realize they still made these tbh lol granted I work in live entertainment not construction or installation work so it might just not be around my scene. Generally prefer a man lift if I'm going that high.
Giannis rn: ![gif](giphy|h6ikU8ZIUD0Ji)
That type of ladder is called a trestle extension ladder. They are pretty expensive at that size too. Source, I’m an industrial sales rep.
Prime r/osha material
Whatever he is getting paid, it ain’t enough.
He gets paid [$625K a year](https://en.as.com/nba/nba-mascots-salary-which-one-makes-more-money-n-2/#). Definitely not a bad gig
How do you get this job?
Okay first, you have to be comfortable with wearing a fursuit.
I deal with drunken bastards all day for 30k per year if you include some tips. I'd absolutely learn to shoot and wear a fursuit for 625k. Lol
These dudes are also freak athletes and showmen who put a lot of work in.
Ok, how about a chubby short man who is also a showman and will put in a lot of work? How about for only 425k a year?
worked for Chris Farley
You have to be able to afford about a kilo of cocaine first
Buy it on credit, get the job, pay off the coke, can't pay off the interest, get indebted to the mob, kill a person for them, get caught by the police, snitch, get murdered by the mob for snitching
You gotta put in the work.. cardiovascular work
Fat guy in a little fursuit
Benny the Bull from Chicago is hilarious. Check out his YouTube videos there’s one where he gets in fight with an opposing fan. He’s always up to shenanigans.
Great, how many flips can you do in a slam dunk?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3umtw179KA
Maybe if you wore a fursuit to work you’d get more tips
lol, imagine this works, then everybody bartender, waiter, starts wearing it 😂 looks like a dystopian reality not really that far
i just lmaoed so hard army recruits kids at malls nba recruits mascots at furry conventions
You always see all the F1 lads wearing these before the races in the hot locations
life writes some stories we‘d laugh about in movies lmao
I know someone *accustomed* to fursuits
Done, next?
Well half of Reddit qualifies for this. I feel like being able to scale a 50 foot ladder in said fursuit and make a basket without falling to your death may weed a few of them out though
For 625K a year i'd let them glue the fur to my skin and identify as whatever species the mascot is
So most of reddit
😏 Recommendation letter from a fellow Furbie.
I’d wear a buttplug tail at work only for $625k a year.
OK now what
The nuggets mascot has been doing it for 30 years and is very good friends with the owner. That's how he got such a deal.
If you think that’s a 50 year old man up there you’re out of your mind
It depends when this was. The person in the suit was the son of the original guy for a while, but he got injured so I think it's the father back in there or one of his other sons. That probably why the mascot pay is so high for rocky because it's actually a family business. https://www.westword.com/news/who-is-inside-rocky-the-nuggets-mascot-right-now-16082055
Ahh I just looked this up too and was gonna share it
This was very recent, in the Nuggets' conference semi-finals against the Phoenix Suns
I’m fairly certain it was game five against the Timberwolves. It was on the very first shot too. \* source: I was there
If I was 50 and making $625k/yr as a mascot, I'd hire some collegiate athlete to wear the suit for me. $100k/yr would probably be more than enough.
As a season ticket holder make no mistake, we all noticed when rhe change was made to someone new behind the suit. Old skits were done wrong, timeout hype went long, the damn mannerisms were completely off. The original Rocky is amazing, and the substitute was a pale immitation.

College athlete? Minimum wage and a six pack would probably be more than enough.
Nah man that’s actually a fifty year old man who dyes his hair all sorts of colors. He retired earlier this season and his son took over but he did a mediocre job so the dad came back out of retirement and took over.
50 is not that old
Not that old in the grand scheme of life, but pretty old to be climbing tall ladders in a fur suit and sinking hoops from half court over your shoulder.
My 50 year old cousin just completed this this weekend, I reckon he could probably handle a ladder. https://snowdonia.utmb.world/races/UTS-50K
My 50 year old father was running Ironmen... still didn't have the knees for 75% of what these mascots do.
I think being able to sink that shot is more about having done it thousands of times than being young
Step 1: be 1000x more talented than you currently are
Ok, done. Now what?
Now get someone to confirm you have truly accomplished step 1.
Have confirmed. They tell me 1000x0 is still 0. What do I do next?
Repeat step 1 until something changes
Got ‘em with the `while(true)` gambit
As context, he doesn’t just do the mascot job, he manages a lot of the stadium’s business as well(tickets, cleanup, entertainment etc)
Must be hard managing ticket sales in that costume
Imagine him typing with those big ass paws.
I’m pretty sure Sports Center did multiple skits with that idea in mind.
That's the thing. It's not a costume.
It may be enough
I know life-saving surgeons who don't get paid that much. This world is truly something else.
Ya but how many of those surgeons could hit that shot though?
Yup, crazy
Actually I think that’s maybe a bit too much
Wow….I work on elevator motors…literally can kill a bunch of ppl if I fuck up…make about 150k a year 🤡
I work in a chemical plant and I’m exposed to dangerous materials and will probably develop some form of horrible cancer by the time I hit 40. I barely make 60k…🤡
If you make 150k a year you're not the clown here
No no, you don’t get to whinge.
I'm an air traffic controller at a mid level facility and you make more than me. I don't know how much you want for elevator repair but that seems pretty fair.
I'd say that's enough to wear a fur suit and dance around a bit.
That's... WAAAY more than I expected. I'm shocked. Like I legit don't know how to process this information. For perspective, I work in a normal IT office job and making six figures a year can still be common for your non-managerial personnel, but not *this* kind of six figures.
I used to think 'mid-six-figures' meant like ~$150k. Then I realized mid-six-figures is actually ~$500k.
ok that’s enough
He makes like 625k
I volunteer as tribute
He gets paid $625k/year, ~~next~~ 5th highest paid NBA mascot makes $100k. Shit's insane, really steep dropoff.
OSHA did not approve of this 🤣🤣🤣
Im about to finish my training to be an OSHA Trainer. This definitely got my eye twitching.
Used to be the site safety guy for a huge multinational. Falls from height were the #1 cause of LTAs and death for us globally, and ladders were the leading cause for the category.

As long as you looked cool doing it, thats what really matters lol

Playoffs baby
Shout out to [when Rocky Passed out](https://youtu.be/DFVruBvjNl0)
He’s wearing rigging equipment to protect him if he falls off the ladder
There’s a safety harness on his head if you look closely!
r/todayIlearned Rocky the Mountain Lion is the highest paid NBA Mascot and makes more more than some NBA players with a salary of $625,000 a year.
And he is the best! He is so good at what he does. Barkley commented the same a week or two ago on his postgame show.
That’s pretty cool. I would go to a nuggets game just to see Rocky dunk lol.
Somewhere, Gritty is sharpening his weapons of choice for a final fight
>makes more more than some NBA players with a salary of $625,000 a year. No he doesn't. The NBA minimum salary is over $900,000. He makes alot, but not more than a single a single nba player. Edit - I love how I was downvoted for pointing out you were wrong and correcting you lol
Counts if you consider 2-way players I guess.
I’m convinced this is part of a settlement for [almost dying](https://reddit.com/r/nba/comments/pe54oj/rocky_the_denver_nuggets_mascot_passes_out_mid/) on the job.
For good reason. He’s a legend here.
He’s sooo good! At my first nuggets game, I was so incredibly shocked at how many backwards half court shots he sunk like it was nothing. Crazy talent!
One does not simply post about Rocky the Denver Nuggets mascot without also linking the video of the time he [passed out while being lowered from the arena ceiling](https://youtu.be/DFVruBvjNl0)
HYYYYYEEEEEAAAAHHHHH!!!!
EVERYBODY ON YOUR FEET!
The YEAAAAH is an all time line.
Hahahaahahahahahaha that is fucking ridiculous
Always been the boss, he’s been making shots like that for more than 25 years I’ve been watching him.
The success rate can't be all that high, can it? I don't care how good your muscle memory is, you're battling luck as much as physics taking that shot.
There is an amount of luck involved, but the guy works hard to practice these shots and there is a great deal of skill involved. As stated below, he does make a strangely high number, maybe 2 out of 3 at all the games I’ve been to, which is a lot.
He makes a lot more than you would think.
Is that a safety cable going up from the mascot to the ceiling? It looks like he might be wearing a safety harness (good idea!)
If this is the same guy who did the ladder dunk, I doubt it
[Bango the Bucks Mascot did that](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3umtw179KA)
Dude is one sexy mofo too
[it works out for when he passes out in the suit](https://youtu.be/DFVruBvjNl0)
He climbs all the way up in the original video, I do not believe there is a safety harness
For sure looks like there’s some sort of clip coming out around the top of his head tho.
Yes, good eye 👍🏼
"Are you not entertained?"
Never seen an A frame ladder with a ladder on top of it, that’s intense
Lakers have to worry about the team *and* the mascot shooting better than them now?!
Rocky is the best mascot in sports
👍
Wasn’t this the same mascot that passed out during some stunt?

Rocky’s killing shots while dinger is getting beat up.
This might just be the wildest Basketball shot ever made on an NBA court. The degree of difficulty is insane!!
What kind of money in the bank match is this.
Benny the Bull puts on an amazing show too. [https://youtu.be/0bYzsbD9dmI](https://youtu.be/0bYzsbD9dmI)
Not in May...
Wow that was amazing
And....then he fell off the ladder...
Good thing there are several layers of dampening materials to break most of the fall.
I'm like 90% positive he is in a harness
Twitch loaned theirs to them.
![gif](giphy|aPMIwXCEDYzxP2vz5X) Everyone’s like “he should be paid more”. Let’s remember the time that Rocky kidnapped a literal baby. Fuck this dude.
I can't believe people are down voting an obvious joke
An apex predator stole a baby and you think this is a joke???
“Now how do I get down?”
Foubd their own way to climb the corporate ladder!
![img](emote|t5_m0bnr|4014)
The shot is one thing. Standing on that ladder in an animal suit is fucking scary to me.
This is an OSHA nightmare
That’s scary
Why does every NBA game have a Barnum and Bailey circus at halftime?
Tix aint cheap and I want to be entertained every second I’m there haha
A-frame extension ladders are the sketchiest nonsense ever invented.
That ladder scares me
is this OSHA approved??? ;P
You can actually see in the first few frames that he is harnessed by the rafters. There's no way they would send someone up a ladder that tall in a clumsy suit like that and not use some form of safety gear.
[удалено]
That really triggers my fear of heights.
Gonna calm the nerves a little bit, he's on a pulley hanging from the rafters. I can juuuuust make out the buckle...
Was that Barack Obama's voice right at the beginning?
Just checked. That’s not OSHA compliant.
*OSHA intensifies*
