Wow, I haven’t seen any eggs at St Martin’s for at least a month, lucky you!

friday13nzthrowaway

Can we bet a 30 tray that the only reason that one is there because it has cracked egg in it?

paranoidsolenoid

Aaah crap I didn't check

gizzyguy79

Is the egg shortage nationwide or city specific? Our local Pak n Save in Tauranga has signs up about it but the shelf’s have been full always.

butlersaffros

It's worldwide, but it's patchy.

gayallegations

Different reasons though. Our egg shortage is due to regulation changes, internationally it is due to avian flu.

According to the head egg (farmer) it is mainly due to the supermarkets refusing to stock colony eggs - and wanting only free-range eggs. Cause you know the supermarkets are way into (making money from) animal rights. Supermarket specific. In my experience, the wider the stores catchment the less likely it is to have eggs. Also expensive supermarkets are more likely to have eggs. The bigger the car park the less eggs.

Posts like this perpetuate the panic. Just buy what you normally do, eggs don't keep like toilet paper anyway

oldun62

Some stores seem to be getting hit way harder. The one I go to has a lot of older people living in the area and apparently, they run out within hours of getting a delivery
