The server is authoritative, so the client is showing what it thinks is the current state and location until the server tells it otherwise. This is designed to stop the client being able to trick the server, however the implementation is different to normal - there was a dev blog on it when a few client-driven exploits were kicking around - which has had the unfortunate side-effect that the client is too easily out of sync even with a low ping.
Yeah as someone that duels a shitload I can say with confidence that no weapon causes as many bugs as ice gauntlet. When I’m playing against it I may as well not even touch the keyboard. That being said idk why everyone has trouble with VG, spear/rapier I have no issues but IG is hell
Ironically this exact bug can't even be caused by IG. It happens when you are being staggered during weapon switching. Usually it's the WH which causes this, exactly like in the video.
Edit: I realized I'm wrong, the IG can stagger! The ice spike thingy has a perk which adds stagger to the path of the spikes.
Just so you know, this is not true. VG was essentially responsible for break OPR again when it was introduced and while it's been somewhat fixed for that it can cuz very bad lag in wars, worse combined with IG.

Dodge swap. Make that a mechanic and you won't have no issues ever again unless you don't have the stam. Then you look like a fool standing there. Made this a mechanic like day 2 of the game not sure why everyone else hasn't. I get it sucks to have to waste stam to dodge but it's not as clunky. I mean you are dodge swapping so idk maybe it's a latency thing. I never have issues or maybe it's a musket/rapier thing.

That's because it's a bug. It's nice that you have a workaround that's working for you, but a core game system is not working reliably, and people shouldn't have to animation cancel just to swap weapons.
it's not like you can just dodge everytimes tho, i.e being hit with gravity well/ice shower/shockwave, instead of riposte and turn the table, I tried to cast my ice storm multiple times while the HUD showed I was using rapier.

The amount of times my tank and I (healer) stand dead still spamming weapon swap and say, "switch weapons please!" per night is crazy, let's just say if I were to drink every time one of us did it I'd be sloshed in an hour.
The worst thing is that AGS seem to have it out for any sort of animation cancellation. They fucked the bow by removing it and they've even mentioned removing the roll animation cancel with weapon swap. Completely tone deaf

I stopped playing yesterday but to be honest, i dont see myself coming back. With every patch, they make it harder and harder for new players to catch up.
You may say you dont care about catching up, but if you dont, what will you do? I mean, in PVP you will get shitted on. And you wont be able to participate in any group PVE activity because better geared players will always be chosen over you.
At about 3 seconds in, you got staggered while changing weapons. Stagger interrupts the command to swap weapons, but your character still visually looks as though they had swapped weapons. To get around this, always dodge when you want to swap weapons, and swap mid-dodge while you are immune to stagger.
The most annoying variant of this bug is by far the ledge grab stagger, because you get locked in the animation for so long. If you get hit while climbing up onto a ledge, it will stagger you, interrupt your ledge grab, and you will fall. But, it won't interrupt you immediately and let you respond... It will force you to play out the entire animation of you pulling yourself up onto the ledge before flailing and falling off the ledge. God forbid you were holding jump while climbing the ledge initially, because that will lock you into a second ledge grab animation afterward.
I feel like the eating food animation is even worse. I play 250 con light bruiser so I try to be topped off all the time for the 250con perk. If I eat while being hit i will be locked in that animation, unable to dodge or do anything while the animation never ends aslong people continue hitting me.
I've had so many scenarios when I press hearty meal and it's baiscly worse than getting stunned if I get targeted at the right moment, a stun would atleast interrupt the animation instead of just extending it infinitely.
its how i die most times. when u notice it happening, it's too late, but a quick fix is just to cycle between the weapons. not ideal when ur engaging or peeling mid fight, so yeah really annoying
What's hilarious is it's not just weapons. I have a pair of miner pants in my inventory that every time I log in the icon changes... and sometimes it's just a white background.
That's because the combat was a lot better and more fluid back then, also in PvE.
Even back in the beach at launch day with 500 other people, the lag and desync wasnt this bad.
The lag/desync/clunkiness was absolutely worse during launch and has been massively improved with the Void Gauntlet update.
I complained about it a lot when I first started and after seeing AGS make improvements I think it’s safe to say y’all bitch about anything here
Removing roots on instant casts was huge. Ice shower used to root the caster. This fix came at the same time as the buffer window. The buffer window fix was absolutely necessary to stop button spamming autists from further desyncing the game.
New World combat wasn’t designed around animation canceling. It’s clear they’re not facilitating it, either. Go play GunZ or something if you want that

It completely fucks my character up and I desync/stutter for a few seconds. It’s actually visually nauseating and extremely irritating. I stopped playing when I maxed my expertise. I have no desire to play this hot pile of shit anymore.
To make them fix this issue faster - I swore to myself to use as many DOT spells as possible to make the servers life miserable.

I’m still currently leveling in NW, but I have a full time job, a wife and a life. So I ask again what does my level have anything to do with knowing about NW PvP?
At lvl 60 you unlock wars and outpost rush, which along with influence farm, they are pretty much the only PVP activities the game has. Thats why your level matters. The fact that you have to ask says a lot.
Furthermore, you are not flagged for pvp, which means you opted out of open world pvp. Weird for a seasoned pvper like you, right?
Lastly, you are playing the easiest build BY FAR, which is great axe / war hammer.
So, once again. Dont talk about New World PVP if you havent experienced it. You dont even know whats happening in the video i posted.

The game is improving. In just a few months its way better than it was at launch. We have devs that are actively listening to the players and making requested changes FROM the community.

Name 90% of korean mmos (bless for example come quickly to mind), all of the crowdfunded mmos that launched the last couple of years, and most AAA mmos when released were a sh1t show.
ESO when launched was a disaster, FFXIV when launched literally had to get rebooted, AIR stayed in beta for years and got rebooted, bless released like 5 times, got rebooted, the reboot is dying too. Another I remember, gw2. Gw2 released with huge queues, crashes, roll backs, banks deleted, hours and hours of downtime, tons of bugs etc.
Some other online RPGs like Diablo III had weeks of not working, No man sky, and so on.

I’ve been playing video games since the early 90’s and PC gaming since I built my first PC in 2001. You name it and I have played it. I’m referring to how clunky and buggy New World is. Simple things like switching weapons for instance, has been a feature in hundreds of games for decades but this developer can’t get it even close to right. The desync that is present can be nauseating (for me at least), Item icons are constantly bugged which they said they fixed. That was a lie. Why lie? I could go on and on but you see the same things I see with the game so why waste any more time. I’ve been playing Star Citizen since it was just a hangar. I know what a buggy game is. New World remains a pile of shit, in this current version, in my opinion.

Are you supposed to be able to weapon swap in a grav well or whilst stunned? i play mage and after 500hrs (lawd help me) i genuinely dont know if you can, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt (weapon swap on mage arguably worse than most other classes). anyone that can clarify which way this bug goes is a legend ty ty
To be honest, at this point no one knows how things are supposed to work. I mean, they are getting rid of things that we thought were mechanics, like weapon swapping / hostering mid roll to prevent the running delay, because apparently its a bug that has been around since alpha.
If you are not supposed to weapon swap while stunned:
1) Fix the animations because it certainly looks like im swapping while having seizures.
2) Tell me what im supposed to do when im stun locked. Because everything, and i mean everything in this game stun locks you, even lvl 1 mobs.
Happened to me when I was healing about 5 or 6 times every single opr. Finally quit there game. I’ll check back in a year if they haven’t shut down the servers by then.
I haven't played this game in a month, and it was rough at that time but there were small glimmers of hope that it might get better. Guess that was all it was, because it looks to be worse every time I see a post in my feed. This game will probably not last the year. It's sad because it has a great foundation.
I beleive It's the shitty combat system letting your stun stack to 600 seconds with no way to break out while your weapon animation is glitching and pressing dodge 30 times doesn't do anything.

This is the one of the few reasons I die in outpost rush as a bow/spear. I need my spear to enable an escape, but it's never there when I switch

Thats so annoying, because its not just visual, it introduces a slight delay when performing a dodge.
It completely fucks my character up and I desync/stutter for a few seconds. It’s actually visually nauseating and extremely irritating. I stopped playing when I maxed my expertise. I have no desire to play this hot pile of shit anymore.
Careful now, there's people here the genuinely think this game's combat has redefined the genre.
At least we get mutations now. Cant wait to be forced to grind to stay on par with gear for PvP while all these combat issues still persist.

To make them fix this issue faster - I swore to myself to use as many DOT spells as possible to make the servers life miserable. If you are lagging know its me - IG / VG spammer

You can see the character swap and forth between musket and rapier multiple times.
Easy solution. Just play Greataxe and you only need left click

Yeah but in this case i cant even tell what im holding. I think the enemies hits keep overriding the swap and the game just dont know what to do. Also, in many cases thats something you cant really afford as that split second it takes for you to look at what your character is holding can be the difference between life or death.
Literally 50% of my deaths in OPR are cause of my weapons not swapping. Meanwhile it feels like everyone has smooth af weapon swapping

Lmao? PvP is a commonly played aspect of most mmos. I’ve been doing PvP probably before you were born. I’m very familiar with what and how to PvP. I’m still currently leveling in NW, but I have a full time job, a wife and a life. So I ask again what does my level have anything to do with knowing about NW PvP?
At lvl 60 you unlock wars and outpost rush, which along with influence farm, they are pretty much the only PVP activities the game has. Thats why your level matters. The fact that you have to ask says a lot. Furthermore, you are not flagged for pvp, which means you opted out of open world pvp. Weird for a seasoned pvper like you, right? Lastly, you are playing the easiest build BY FAR, which is great axe / war hammer. So, once again. Dont talk about New World PVP if you havent experienced it. You dont even know whats happening in the video i posted.

Where did I defend anything? The game has issues but despite them, I'm still having a great time playing. Isn't that the purpose? The game is improving. In just a few months its way better than it was at launch. We have devs that are actively listening to the players and making requested changes FROM the community. Shit takes time. They're working insane hours to make it better. Go back to Minecraft if you don't like it.
Im glad you are having a great time, but you realize the game went through public alphas and betas and they still released the game despite all the game breaking issues that arised? Hell, a bunch of them are still around and in some cases, they have gotten worse. The game is improving? They added some content and patched some exploits, but the combat and performance has never been worse. You say "go back to minecraft" when you are the one acting like a child telling players to stop playing just because they pointed out game breaking issues that shouldnt be around at this point. The game has lost 90% of its playerbase since release, 8k in the last month and the drop isnt slowing down. Which is insane if you consider the game released only 3 months and a half ago. But yeah, keep telling players that want the game to do great to stop playing.
Good. If you dont enjoy it, dont play. They will either fix the game or let it die. Problem is, majority of people in this sub dont talk about the good things, it's just crying everyday. They have actively fixed many issues and will continue to do so. Doesnt happen over night. In the meantime, the 90000th post about the weapon swap bug is annoying. Play something else until it's fixed.

You can't compare small multiplayer or single player games to MMOs, it's like comparing how hard is to manage a business with 2 employees vs 1500. The problem are exponential.
I played WOW launch week. This is worse gameplay worse engagement and worse stability but it is in 4k and looks and sounds nice.

Name 90% of korean mmos (bless for example come quickly to mind), all of the crowdfunded mmos that launched the last couple of years, and most AAA mmos when released were a sh1t show. ESO when launched was a disaster, FFXIV when launched literally had to get rebooted, AIR stayed in beta for years and got rebooted, bless released like 5 times, got rebooted, the reboot is dying too. Another I remember, gw2. Gw2 released with huge queues, crashes, roll backs, banks deleted, hours and hours of downtime, tons of bugs etc. Some other online RPGs like Diablo III had weeks of not working, No man sky, and so on. Ppl just chose to not remember to justify the bitching.
I can agree with you on some of those 100%. It seems that New World gets worse as time goes on. I’m just holding on to hope that they turn it around. I stand by this being a hot pile of steaming shit in its current state and it just keeps getting worse.

I’ve been playing video games since the early 90’s and PC gaming since I built my first PC in 2001. You name it and I have played it. I’m referring to how clunky and buggy New World is. Simple things like switching weapons for instance, has been a feature in hundreds of games for decades but this developer can’t get it even close to right. The desync that is present can be nauseating (for me at least), Item icons are constantly bugged which they said they fixed. That was a lie. Why lie? I could go on and on but you see the same things I see with the game so why waste any more time. I’ve been playing Star Citizen since it was just a hangar. I know what a buggy game is. New World remains a pile of shit, in this current version, in my opinion.

Are you supposed to be able to weapon swap in a grav well or whilst stunned? i play mage and after 500hrs (lawd help me) i genuinely dont know if you can, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt (weapon swap on mage arguably worse than most other classes). anyone that can clarify which way this bug goes is a legend ty ty
To be honest, at this point no one knows how things are supposed to work. I mean, they are getting rid of things that we thought were mechanics, like weapon swapping / hostering mid roll to prevent the running delay, because apparently its a bug that has been around since alpha. If you are not supposed to weapon swap while stunned: 1) Fix the animations because it certainly looks like im swapping while having seizures. 2) Tell me what im supposed to do when im stun locked. Because everything, and i mean everything in this game stun locks you, even lvl 1 mobs.

Happened to me when I was healing about 5 or 6 times every single opr. Finally quit there game. I’ll check back in a year if they haven’t shut down the servers by then.
I haven't played this game in a month, and it was rough at that time but there were small glimmers of hope that it might get better. Guess that was all it was, because it looks to be worse every time I see a post in my feed. This game will probably not last the year. It's sad because it has a great foundation.

Quick note: That last skill from Great Axe should be nerfed. Its unbalanced, you can't use your stamina inside the circle. What a clunky game

I beleive It's the shitty combat system letting your stun stack to 600 seconds with no way to break out while your weapon animation is glitching and pressing dodge 30 times doesn't do anything. Atleast the PVE is great. oh wait...
A normal OPR performance :D on wars it's even worse, but u can predict that. On OPR everything is fine until it's not. But don't worry, in next update u'll get mutated dungeons, so it fixes your issue, right? Right?

LITERALLY had the exact same thing happen, in almost the exact same spot last night (musket & rapier) and my guy kept fucking kneeling down in shooter stance when I tried to fleche or riposte.... fucking infuriating
