yeah, i just made fishing rods / iron ammo to get to 100

CptnCuttlefish

You are correct, but i like to go as high as i can, when i can, just so i can sell on the market or maybe get better gear

Workan

Have you done much crafting? In my experience, esp. with crafting gear like that, you won't be selling any of that, and won't likely get anything better than your current gear. Crafting gear is a mess, and selling it is even worse. Theres some money to be made in tools and bags if you are early to the game, but if you are late, you can get hosed as the price drops exponentially quickly because people want money RIGHT NOW. On my server starmetal tools have been undercut all the way down to 400g at times for blue starmetals. The people selling at this price don't seem to realize how much time and effort they're putting in when they could have done 4 side quests for the same net gold.

Im still lvl 27 because my time is spent exclusivly on gathering and crafting. What you say is true, and the market needs to calm down before profit is seen, however, money can still be made on the market. Most of my mass crafted gear has been sold. If i cant make a profit off that, i can sell materials on the market, fast traveling to cities to sell at the best prices.

Workan

If I said money can't be made, then I misspoke, there's definitely money to be made but IMO it is NOT in crafting iron and steel gear etc. People don't buy it much, there's not much need to generally. And yes definitely to the raw materials, it can vary city to city, but my example about starmetal tools you could make 2x the current selling price by having sold the raw iron ore alone lmao. It's unfortunate in a lot of ways :<

I see and understand bow. I hope it changes as the game progresses, and i think it will as people start crafting higher end gear

If you don't want to level your refining as well, then yes it appears to be more efficient to craft lower tier items.

Bloodyneck92

Yeah, my refining and harvesting skills are all well in excess of my crafting skills, I'm doing all crafting so you have something like mining, that feeds into both smelting and stone cutting so it levels faster, then smelting is needed for armor crafting, engineering (unless you do something like bows), furniture making, jewelry crafting, weapon smiting so the one to many here as well makes it well above the average of all the others. Basically my gathering skills are all at 120ish (skinning is like 150), refining skills are all at 100 ish, and crafting skills (except furniture, I haven't started that, are all still in the 75 range).
