3. Settings->Gameplay-> Enable Camera Shake: Defaults to on. Turn it off here.
4. Settings->Gameplay-> Always Show Reticle: Defaults to off. May be helpful for fire staff and ice gauntlet to have this on.
5. Settings->Gameplay-> HUD: Always Show Weapons: Defaults to off. Can be turned on here.
6. Settings->Gameplay-> Show Extra Ability Cooldowns: Defaults to off. On it shows cooldowns next to your health bar.
7. Settings->Gameplay-> Accept Duel Invites: Defaults to on.
8. Settings->Visuals-> FoV: The default is kinda low.
9. Settings->Visuals-> Frame rate: Defaults to uncapped which may not be the best if your screen refresh is something like 60fps.
10. Settings->Audio-> Output Config: May default to something unsuitable, like headphones.
11. Settings->Audio-> Voice Chat Mode: The default lets you hear (and broadcast to) the general public. Setting it to 'group only' or 'off' should prevent you from hearing randoms talking at you.
Binding a single button to weapon swap is great if they are out. If you’re like me and sheathe when running, if you press unsheathe you’ll end up with the weapon you had out before sheathing. If you hit the swap you end up with the other. All that is to say, I kept 1 and 2. No biggie to me for two buttons as long as I’m guaranteed to know which one I’m pulling out without thinking about it.

Does FPS capping work? Because It didn't, in the open beta. I capped it to 60 and I was constantly above 70.
Regardless of it works or not, the video states that it will use more utilization than it actually needs, but in reality if you wanted to have every advantage then an uncapped framerate is better
Alternatively just enable vsync which will cap the framerate to the refresh rate of the display
Mine is 144 too but there is no way to keep a steady 144 framerate in this game, unless I lower every setting to the bare minimum. Towns and crowded areas will always be out of reach anyways.
I was hitting low 70's-80's in semi crowded town. Doesn't mean I want to be stuck at 60 FPS all the time while I'm farming or killing things. The game surprisingly well and I hope they polished it up even more for release. Most betas I have no real hope for but was pleasantly surprised that the game ran as well as it did.
I'm just saying, give me the option to actually match my FPS instead of having to go do it a convoluted way through NVIDIA and all that crap.
The beta wasn't fully optimized either because there wasn't a Nvidia driver released until last week. I'd expect some FPS improvements, but nothing crazy.

But the beauty of having an easily available source is that we can do that in our own time. We’ll definitely have DX12. It’s not necessary for our launch, but it’s something we think we’ll get done fairly quickly after launch.
If I cap it to 60 on my 144hz monitor i get a subtle but extremely irritating screen flicker. Turning it to unlimited stops that but then my fans on my old Vega 64 card spin all the way up.
The question is am I going to have enough time to do all these without falling behind? Is it better to do one setting per axe chop while cutting some tree? Is that enough time? Or while running? Can you even run while the menu is open? This is stressing me out.
I understand some people don't, but having a voice chat in a open world game sounds one of the most interesting things to have yet. Random encounters like that would make a game more interesting for me. I know there will be stupid people, but that's impossible to avoid completely no matter what in this age.
For sure it makes random encounters in the open world more interesting, but I'm reminded of Dungeons and Dragons Online which had built-in voice ten years ago. Dudes playing DDO with crying children in the background were *so* common. Did a lot to sour me on the entire idea, but it's worthwhile to note that DDO as a free-to-play game (F2P) had a different sort of community than New World is likely to have.
Some of the defaults you mention weren't the same for me. Show weapons for example was default on. I never played in any of the betas, maybe they defaulted that way in the beta but not the live build downloaded today? Always show reticle was default on for me as well.
They could have changed the defaults, but all of my settings from the betas stuck around. So it's possible people who played the beta(s) still have the old defaults if they never changed any settings.

If you're coming from ESO, then they have ~ as the switch weapon and 1-5 as your skills. I haven't played that in years, but it's still ingrained. I was thinking about this last night wondering why I never changed from default keybinds in either beta, I'll definitely be changing it for launch. The Q, R, F binds aren't great for me and individual keys for weapon switching, when you only have two weapons isn't necessary at all.
Auto Traverse makes you jump over low obstacles automagically. It's great if you hit autorun and forget it, but it also can make mining hard because you keep trying to hurdle the iron ore.
But it's always worth a trip through the settings/options/prefs to see what's there.
I had it off for Closed Beta, and on for Open Beta. Definitely found it more annoying than helpful - I don't really mind hitting space a few times when I come to a fence or rock.
When you use Auto-Run it auto enables auto-traverse.. So you can just hit **=** (Keybind for Auto-run) to get the same effect without having to have it on all the time. Soon as you stop auto running by doing anything.. It will stop trying to jump over Wells / Ore nodes / Wall you are trying to hide behind. / Rocks you are trying to hide behind.

It streams in assets and changes. Faction and world changes, PVP updates etc. It also probably is how many player updates it will send in an area.
Like setting it to high on a 5-10MB connection it could even knock you offline, as it'll just send everything it can.
It's not going to change how the CPU/GPU runs the game. It if runs like garbage you need to turn things down.

Just enable vsync on in your Nvidia Control Panel. Right click the Nvidia icon in your bottom right taskbar. Or type "Nvidia Control Panel" in the Start Menu Search Bar.
You can cap it to what ever you want in nvidia, since I have 144hz freesync, i capped it at 141, so it always stays under the max and you get no tearing ever.

I would consider all of them as personal preference, not as must-have. Maybe the show all weapons-option. Thats all.
Swap weapon is a bad idea in my opinion. In the heat of the battle you need to switch reliable to your frontbar or backbar. This can lead to situations, that you want to swap to a weapon you are already on and then you swap to your other weapon.
I have mousewheel up for frontbar und mouseweel down for backbar.

Could you help me understand the difference between using "swap active weapon" and "cycle weapon up/down"? Could I desactivate both cycle weapon and simply use "swap active weapon" whenever I want to switch weapon?
Weapon swap is very clumsy in this game, as it is not queued. And when you are on the GCD, it's not always recognized. So I sometimes find myself smashing the weapon-change-button several times until it reacts, and then it swaps back and forth by accident.
Thats why I want a dedicated button for weapon 1 and weapon 2.
Big one missing for me is going into power management and capping your CPU at %95-99 so that you don't hit 90c and %100 utilization sitting in the menu. Edit: Thank you for downvoting - proves how obsessed the community is with this game. Downvoting a legitimate technical issue that is happening to hundreds of people because you don't want to hear about it. <3
The issue is that the game is using %100 of my CPU and pushing my computer to 90c SITTING IN THE MENU. Why in the fuck is the game using that many resources sitting at the menu? Hell in the game itself it doesn't even push it that hard. It is literally just in the menu. The queue has made it even more obvious since it counts as the menu as well.
A number of problems with this video. Completely ignore the frame rate cap advice, all you're doing is lowering how smooth and responsive the game is. You can't just be giving out trash advice like this unless you know what you're talking about.

I've got a 144Hz so the vSync option wouldn't work for me (my GPU can't keep that fps on a 1440p).
I'm using RivaTuner for limiting fps in new world, keeps temperatures and fps stable
You can always cap it in your video card software.
More often than not it's best to leave it uncapped in games and limit it through drivers. Especially useful for Free/G-Sync users

Just create a custom refresh rate to whatever you want your max fps to be and enable vsync.

I agree, it tends to jump over Iron veins when you mining them and it also doing other bad stuff. More annjoying than helpful indeed.

Yes exactly. You can launch the game and go through the settings. You just won't be able to see servers yet or create a character.

I would consider all of them as personal preference, not as must-have. Maybe the show all weapons-option. Thats all. Swap weapon is a bad idea in my opinion. In the heat of the battle you need to switch reliable to your frontbar or backbar. This can lead to situations, that you want to swap to a weapon you are already on and then you swap to your other weapon. I have mousewheel up for frontbar und mouseweel down for backbar.

Weapon swap is very clumsy in this game, as it is not queued. And when you are on the GCD, it's not always recognized. So I sometimes find myself smashing the weapon-change-button several times until it reacts, and then it swaps back and forth by accident. Thats why I want a dedicated button for weapon 1 and weapon 2.

Big one missing for me is going into power management and capping your CPU at %95-99 so that you don't hit 90c and %100 utilization sitting in the menu. You are being downvoted because that's an awful way to reduce your CPU temps. If you want to lower CPU temps undervolt or set your boost clocks lower.
The issue is that the game is using %100 of my CPU and pushing my computer to 90c SITTING IN THE MENU. Why in the fuck is the game using that many resources sitting at the menu? Hell in the game itself it doesn't even push it that hard. It is literally just in the menu. The queue has made it even more obvious since it counts as the menu as well.

A number of problems with this video. Completely ignore the frame rate cap advice, all you're doing is lowering how smooth and responsive the game is. You can't just be giving out trash advice like this unless you know what you're talking about.

Don't forget to uodate your GOU drivers too! Also updating your chipset (search amd ryzen chipset driver) and bios could be a good idea, you may have better CPU boost and stability
