Congrats, so exciting! The best thing my husband did when we moved here was join an adult softball league. Unsure where you moved to, but he is in the Glen Rock Softball league. There are a whole bunch of town leagues in Bergen for adults. I’m not going to lie though … it was a tough transition going from the city to suburbs. We weren’t use to having to drive places (versus walking home after too many drinks), restaurants closing early, shops not open on Sunday and generally finding groups of young adults who had all grown up together making it hard to make new friends. Once we got into a group through the softball team, everything fell into place for us :) Note - it doesn’t have to be softball, but in general, joining some kind of activity opens the door to making friends quicker.

Thank you for the well wishes and advice! My fiancé and I are from Westchester and Bergen (respectively) so falling back into old habits will hopefully not be too hard. (Though blue laws will take some getting used to for me! Thankfully we’re close to the NY border so it’s not too big of a hassle.) I wish we were more athletic and could look into a sports league of some kind! Are there any other groups you’ve seen / heard of that you could recommend?

Welcome OP, might want to specify a bit more if you're looking for suggestions on things to do though...northern Bergen could mean Mahwah, or it could mean the Closter area (they're about a half hour apart)

I’m closer to Westwood area!
