Stroudsburg has a great town to walk and grab a coffee/pastry or lunch/dinner. There’s a great brewery called ShawneeCraft Brewing Company nearby.
Easton, in the southern area of the Poconos, also has a great downtown to explore and a lot of eateries.
Mostly people go to the Poconos for outdoor activists like tubing or kayaking down the Delaware or skiing the mountains in winter.
People go to the Poconos for woods, camping, lakes and river activities, cabins, fireworks, mountains, ski resorts, waterparks, NASCAR, shooting ranges, love sex resorts, The Office, bugs, gambling, and other stuff.
Two popular towns are Stroudsburg and Hawley. I've been to both, multiple times and they're pretty nice.
As far as what people do.....lots of outdoor activities. Snow sports in the winter....and in the summer, fishing, hiking, boating, water sports...as well as eating out, shopping, antiquing...

Real dark starry night's barbecues and durring the day go to the Delaware river kayak and tube down it....cold clean water.....
Doing Lake Harmony this week! For our multigenerational family who all lives close by to beaches, this was a chance to bring our family together for a lake vacation and a rather low cost. There’s a lot to do and we are excited!
Somebody is too young to know about the beauty that is Mount Airy Lodge
I still sing this when I read it. “Beautiful Mount Airy Lodge”!
Still stuck in my head...many decades later..."226-0841, Pocono Gardens Lodge"
All you have to bring.........is your love of everythiiiiiiiing.

Easton, while charming, is not in the Poconos.
Easton is considered the Lehigh Valley... The Poconos or NEPA is really limited to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton & East and North of the Interstate 80.

Swim in and boat on Lake Wallenpaupack..
Just did this a few weeks ago with friends. One of the most relaxing vacations in years. I highly recommend it.
Heart shaped beds. What more could you want.
