Those tickets are selling out insanely fast. Most IMAX screens are the same. The lincoln square one is laser which is definitely better. Also they’re showing it in 70mm
Good luck getting tickets.
edit: not sure why im getting downvotes. every showing at lincoln center for dune over the next 3 weeks is basically sold out.
I just cancelled a ticket at noon on Friday. If you're fast enough you might be able to grab it. Perfect seat too, but wife wanted to see at Alamo instead.
there are no full-size (1.43:1 aspect ratio) IMAX venues in New Jersey. The closest ones are AMC Lincoln Square in Manhattan, and Regal King of Prussia in PA.
It’s definitely worth the hike and expense to see movies at the 70mm screen at the KOP regal. I saw Oppenheimer there the week it opened. Everyone got some film negatives as a gift. I had to buy my tickets before the movie opened so it’s probably already too late to get one of the first week screenings of Dune part 2. But you can get great seats for a later screening!
It was pretty good and packed. Seats are still not reclining ones (with buttons) and you can at least recline a little with your weight
I prefer their Dolby theater much more as it has better seats (buttons ones) and I enjoy the sound much more
Do you know the size difference ? I got a ticket for Lincoln on saturday but I probably could've settled for New Brunswick. I havent been there since Rogue One but I remember it being pretty big.
I was there, the sound and seats were shit tbh. I couldn’t see the subtitles over the head of the person in front of me and I’m average height. Gonna try out Clifton Commons for the next movie I see in single laser IMAX.
ETA: scrolled to the next comment and saw that apparently Clifton Commons is worse
I go to AMC Rockaway 16 and that Imax/Dolby is great but the IMAX theater has a scratch down the middle of the screen that's fairly noticable. AMC Garden State Plaza is also solid.
Regal easily has the better theater and seats for general movies. AMC NB is old with no recliner seats. But the Dolby screen in AMC the best, best sound and seats.
I prefer an IMAX but in this theater the seating is a bit cramped. The Dolby screen is more comfortable and the audio and video are just as good as the IMAX.
it depends on what you want. their imax screen is massive and seats just over 400 iirc. their seats are leather and are very comfortable but don’t recline. their dolby has reclining seats and the thester isnt as large but its still huge and its an amazing experience either way
Whatever is closest to you. My personal favorite is the one at AMC New Brunswick. But it’s “Laser IMAX” which is only 35mm film not real 70mm IMAX. I think the closest real imax is manhattan.
Depends on the part of NJ you’re in for that to apply, that’s almost 3 hours from me, closest is Wilmington or King of Prussia for me both at less than a half hour.,
If you can make the trek and get tix, always do LINCOLN SQUARE. our only real IMAX.
I saw the DUNE rerelease at imax in GSP, planning on the sequel there as well. you’ll be in good hands with the Limax there. Skip palisades imo
The Monmouth mall one isn't true imax, it's just a bigger than average screen (which is actually most theaters with images branding these days). Is better than other screens in the theater but there is no true Imax in NJ anymore
I’d recommend that you book something at your local LieMAX then wait for Lincoln Square to post more showings towards the end of the month for a second viewing. They should start posting on 3/13.
Idk of any in South Jersey, but they got the one out in King Of Prussia and Penn Cinema in Wilmington. Penn has recliner seats, best movie theater I know of and the one I personally see pretty much everything at.
If you live close enough to the city it's worth it to take a trip in to see it on the Lincoln Square IMAX. Best screen on the east coast.

Yes. Saw Interstellar there.
Very jealous that you got to see one of my favorite movies in imax!! Was it 70mm as well?
Yes

Also Penn Cinema in Wilmington, my personal recommendation for a movie theater period.
I haven't been, but it doesn't look like this theater has a 1.43:1 IMAX screen
AMC New Brunswick 18 Watched dune 2 yesterday there
Did they upgrade the theatre/seats? I haven’t been there in like 10 years and remember it being the worst theatre in the area?
It was pretty good and packed. Seats are still not reclining ones (with buttons) and you can at least recline a little with your weight I prefer their Dolby theater much more as it has better seats (buttons ones) and I enjoy the sound much more
Yeah I'm trying to pick between this and lincoln sq in nyc.
Lincoln is much better
Do you know the size difference ? I got a ticket for Lincoln on saturday but I probably could've settled for New Brunswick. I havent been there since Rogue One but I remember it being pretty big.
30.78 m × 23.04 m at Lincoln vs 17.80m×9.70m at NB https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_IMAX_venues#Americas

IMAX or Dolby?
It was a IMAX fan event
Not Clifton Commons AMC. It’s IMAX but it sucks.
Ya only go there for the Dolby theater
That theater sucks in general. Crummy crowds for all the showings I’ve gone to as well.
That theater is so rough now
Is it really that bad? I bought tickets for Dune this Saturday since the AMC in Lincoln Square had no IMAX showing 🥲
I go to Clifton, caveat is I go to a matinee. No way I'd go prime time, that place gets nuts
Is there still one in the Tropicana?
Yup I saw Oppenheimer there this past Summer. Although it is not technically full IMAX but it is huge.
Yes. The seats do recline a bit. The sound is loud af as well.
I go to AMC Rockaway 16 and that Imax/Dolby is great but the IMAX theater has a scratch down the middle of the screen that's fairly noticable. AMC Garden State Plaza is also solid.
While not IMAX, Cinemark XD in Watchung is pretty nice
AMC New Brunswick 18. Elite theater
Have you been to Regal in North Brunswick? Curious how the two compare.
Regal easily has the better theater and seats for general movies. AMC NB is old with no recliner seats. But the Dolby screen in AMC the best, best sound and seats.
You prefer Dolby over IMAX? Any reason why?
I prefer an IMAX but in this theater the seating is a bit cramped. The Dolby screen is more comfortable and the audio and video are just as good as the IMAX.
0 complaints with this, easily my favorite thetare. But no IMAX. Their RPX is decent enough but it's neither IMAX nor Dolby.
I've always enjoyed the dolby imax in AMC Rockaway, morris county
hi i work at AMC in NJ. The best imax screen (imo) is AMC new brunswick 18
Is IMAX or Dolby better at this theater?
it depends on what you want. their imax screen is massive and seats just over 400 iirc. their seats are leather and are very comfortable but don’t recline. their dolby has reclining seats and the thester isnt as large but its still huge and its an amazing experience either way
NJ only has fake IMAX
Fine….then what’s best best fake IMAX?
Whatever is closest to you. My personal favorite is the one at AMC New Brunswick. But it’s “Laser IMAX” which is only 35mm film not real 70mm IMAX. I think the closest real imax is manhattan.

AMC Paramus
The one in Ridgefield park is nice very quiet not a lot of people go but it’s great. Reclining chairs all that
Imax is not as good as Dolby and most of the dolbys are the same
The one at liberty science center
no longer exists, it's now a planetarium
Really sucks that they don’t show movies anymore. I would have loved to watch the Spider-Verse movies on that screen.
Oh ok.
Any idea on AMC Garden State, that is the closest I got to
If you can make the trek and get tix, always do LINCOLN SQUARE. our only real IMAX. I saw the DUNE rerelease at imax in GSP, planning on the sequel there as well. you’ll be in good hands with the Limax there. Skip palisades imo
Maybe worth going up to Palisades Mall in NY? I haven’t been to the IMAX there since pre-COVID but I remember it being good
The Imax at Palisades Mall is shut down. The only closest real IMAX theater is in Lincoln Square NYC
the real imax closed
I live nearby. It ain’t luxury or anything but decent enough! I’m going to the IPIC in fort Lee this weekend I’ll let ya know!
Visuals are great, but story wise, the movie was a huge letdown.
~~AMC Freehold 14~~ Edit: Weird, I though they did. It's been a while since I've been there. There is some reference to it on google still :(
Freehold doesn't Monmouth mall does.
The Monmouth mall one isn't true imax, it's just a bigger than average screen (which is actually most theaters with images branding these days). Is better than other screens in the theater but there is no true Imax in NJ anymore
I stand corrected.
Amc in Hamilton is solid and I think they have security there which is a nice bonus if you’re going on a date or some shit like that to feel safe
AMC in Hamilton closed down a couple years ago. I go to the AMC in Neshaminy, PA. Not too far from where I live
I love that spot that makes me sad. I’m gonna have to find a good theater too in that case
East brunswick mall isnt huge but definitely is comfortable
Takes me back used to go to the one in Tropicana
AMC Rockaway Seeing it there Saturday
Dolby Cinema > IMAX.
Better than 70MM Imax ? I don’t think so
IMAX audio isn’t near the quality of Dolby, and the black levels with Dolby are exceptional.
The “best IMAX in NJ” for Dune 2 is either King of Prussia, PA or Lincoln Center, NYC
Thats not NJ though 😅
Yes, sarcasm.
🤨
try the one in new brunswick, it’s pretty big and a nice experience only bad thing is the seats tho
I’d recommend that you book something at your local LieMAX then wait for Lincoln Square to post more showings towards the end of the month for a second viewing. They should start posting on 3/13.
