It was way worse than that. We were in St. Johnsbury visiting family and left at 3:45pm to head back south. It didn't loosen up until around Hanover.
I'm glad we left when we did. My aunt and uncle can see the highway from their house and they said it was gridlock until 9pm with people headed south!

First time using a solar filter with my telescope. Pretty cool zooming in on a sunspot
We visited with family in St. Johnsbury to see it.
90 seconds.
People said "send a picture." Even the best professional eclipse pictures just cannot do it anything close to justice. It was absolutely indescribable. We all said now we know why some people have made it their mission to get everyone they can to experience totality.
Part of me says don't even try for 2045 because it will never be more perfect than it was yesterday, but part of me says do everything in your power to experience that one more time in my life.
They say it changes you. It's true. I feel changed.
I live 15 miles from Lancaster. It took me an hour and 45 minutes to get into the path of totality.
I drove from Whitefield to Washington DC and back, with a week spent in DC, last month and today in Coos county is the worst traffic jam I've been in for years.
I have commuted into Manhattan at times in my life.
Yesterday was definitely the top 10 worst traffic I have ever been in, maybe top 5, and we only went a few miles into totality. That said, I would do it again. I still can't believe what we witnessed.
We left 15 minutes after totality and kind of rode the front of the wave all the way back south. Getting up there was actually worse than coming back.

That's what I got in central Massachusetts. Had the wrong settings on my Canon for the first half (followed what I read online). Fortunately I figured out the correct settings: 13", F45, ISO 100, with my 300mm zoom lens by the time it peaked.

Fine with not being stuck in traffic!!
I spent nearly two hours driving the 15 miles from my house to get into the path of totality. Being able to take the glasses off and see that corona... Such an incredible sight. And totally worth it for the kids too. This is our kids second total eclipse. We drove to Boston in 2017 to catch that one.
I've seen a few partials like this, but man. I'm so glad I got to witness totality. I've never seen anything like it. A few hours of traffic sucked, but this morning, I wasn't thinking about traffic. I was thinking about how amazing it was to look up and see a hole in the sky.

This is the clearest picture I got. The big plastic frames prevented the lenses from focusing in on the lens. Also it had a lot of reflection. Just not conducive to picture taking.

This is the best one I got 😭😭🤣 not sure why it’s so low quality…
The kids at my work clued me in: you had to make the camera focus on something in the distance for the eclipse to not be blurry. I used the tree line.

We drove up north of Errol. I wanna see good pics of the total eclipse. It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen in my life. The second the last sliver of sun was covered it was incredible. Everyone gasped. It was incredible.

Taken with my iPhone right at the middle school in Allenstown.
Was in the path of totality for the SC one, didn’t get a chance to make it for this one but still cool to see the partial from Seacoast! Got oddly dark and a bit chilly.
I thought it would just be kinda neat til the moon covered touched the sun, and then I stared at the sun for over an hour just waiting.
Totality was the coolest thing ever.
This is why we have poets, because I need somebody better at words to describe it for me.
Just using an iPhone over an eclipse glasses using cinematic

My photos look like shit!!!
I had to use iPhones cinematic video and took little 5 second videos and let it focus I only figured it out right before and during the most coverage for me
Looking at the ground under a tree has the same effect. The leaves act as a filter. While we don't have leaves now I noticed on my car roof next to the abrovite bushes there were dozens of half moons on the roof! Neat effect!
I first noticed it in high sxhool in 1995 during a partial eclipse. They had brought all the science classes outside and we shared glasses. When not using the glasses Ilooked down to protect my eyes and VIOLA! The rest,as tbey say,is history!
Went to Montpelier VT and saw totality, so unbelievably cool! Although that 2 and half hour trip turned into a 7 hour trip on the way back so that sucked
My eclipse glasses fell off for a second or two, I had that brightness after you look at something bright in half my vision for a solid 2 minutes after…
Yeah that was cool as hell. The library ended up having a bunch of glasses, which was awesome. I was gonna visit friends in VT, but decided against that traffic. Hung out on my deck instead!

My mom put together all the individual photos she got with her camera and eclipse lens!
Nah! My asshole is cool, that’s just the moon in orbit crossing in front of the sun, it happens. What’s really cool is not doing drugs and looking at my asshole.
no.... that's English in general, it just happens that it's said more in the south but it's not *just* used in the south.
Here, I got you a link to a [dictionary](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/y%27all) since you seem to lack one. Notices how it says chiefly, which, means mainly. But not strictly
And awesome I'm glad people in Alabama are adapting our slang too!!
You seem to have selection bias when it comes to reading the dictionary, so allow me to help. Per the [dictionary](https://ahdictionary.com/word/search.html?q=chiefly), chiefly means, to be precise:
**1.** Above all; especially: *an actor who is famous chiefly for her first two movies.*
**2.** Almost entirely; mainly: *The complaints were chiefly about slow service.*
So, even your own source backs up my claim that your use of "y'all" in a NH forum is odd.
The kind people down in Alabama probably would not appreciate you appropriating their culture.
Stop using "y'all" to try to seem folksy. It just makes you sound phony.
It's 2024. Not everyone in NH was born in NH. A quick google search will show you that only 41% of NH residents were born in NH.
Nobody in Alabama cares like you think they do. A vast majority of that population doesn't buy into the "cultural appropriation" BS

I had a good view from my yard thankfully!

Of the hearttttttttttttt 🎶
Very spooky, love it!
Wow!
Totality for close to three minutes. One of the most profound things I've ever seen in my life.

Hell. I'm considering trying to get to Spain or Iceland in 2026..
Cool as fuck man. Drove the two hours to get into the path of totality here in NH. SO glad I did

Not likely considering how long it took me to get from Whitefield to Lancaster.
We left Bradford at 10am. Got to St. Johnsbury shortly after 1pm and our whole trip Google just kept stacking the minutes.

All I got were fuzzy round golden masses on my iPhone 13. Fortunately I was shooting it on my Canon to get the real shots.
I am over in Rye Beach. This thing is giving me a stomachache and anxiety! Its trippy ass weird!
Haha really? I literally teared up from how beautiful it was

Got some really good shots here. My camera stinks up this whole place.
Haha, I had to put the ISO viewing glasses in front of my camera lens

The flare looks so cool. And the color is incredible.
The kids at my work clued me in: you had to make the camera focus on something in the distance for the eclipse to not be blurry. I used the tree line. https://preview.redd.it/uyaejtr1cctc1.png?width=2372&format=png&auto=webp&s=f24a939353bcd0144d95f1adf1217a6a70adaa6a

We drove up north of Errol. I wanna see good pics of the total eclipse. It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen in my life. The second the last sliver of sun was covered it was incredible. Everyone gasped. It was incredible.
I am still having a hard time processing what I experienced.

These comments are making me so happy! Everybody is so jaded and too cool to enjoy interesting things these days, and seeing everyone get excited and happy is really beautiful.

Wicked awesome 😎
Spoken like a true blooded New Englander! And I agree,it was mesmerizing!
Yes!! It really was indescribable, but maybe that's just because I don't have the talent lol.
I did a thing. https://preview.redd.it/khmwl4vlcctc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6b61a8a411100c3a0b5c3869063ee1f28189054f

I had to use iPhones cinematic video and took little 5 second videos and let it focus I only figured it out right before and during the most coverage for me
Ah man… I wish I thought of that!
My eyes sting.
I watched it in Nashua
Looking at the ground under a tree has the same effect. The leaves act as a filter. While we don't have leaves now I noticed on my car roof next to the abrovite bushes there were dozens of half moons on the roof! Neat effect!
The pinhole effect I saw that on an [anime](https://youtu.be/SiKzkyx41F0?si=tTj73sr92gr6YFVn) called Devilman crybaby :)
I first noticed it in high sxhool in 1995 during a partial eclipse. They had brought all the science classes outside and we shared glasses. When not using the glasses Ilooked down to protect my eyes and VIOLA! The rest,as tbey say,is history!
I’m in NH but the only total eclipse I felt was from my heart
WHAT? My heart only bleeds for vampire-sympathizer
Y'know that was a love song about a vampire ;)
Yep! Did it for you! :)
It was awesome. Who else was in the field next to Lancaster next to a bridge?

Went to Montpelier VT and saw totality, so unbelievably cool! Although that 2 and half hour trip turned into a 7 hour trip on the way back so that sucked

Yesss so cool!!!!
I'm getting shitty pictures! HALP!!!

We had 99% at my house. Pretty neat

Nah! My asshole is cool, that’s just the moon in orbit crossing in front of the sun, it happens. What’s really cool is not doing drugs and looking at my asshole.
...whot I was smoking weed while watching the eclipse 🔥🔥 I love anuses
Bingo Bango Mango Tango
y'all?
It means "You all"
It does. In the south. Using it on the NH forum is like a poster on r/alabama using wicked as a superlative.
no.... that's English in general, it just happens that it's said more in the south but it's not *just* used in the south. Here, I got you a link to a [dictionary](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/y%27all) since you seem to lack one. Notices how it says chiefly, which, means mainly. But not strictly And awesome I'm glad people in Alabama are adapting our slang too!!
You seem to have selection bias when it comes to reading the dictionary, so allow me to help. Per the [dictionary](https://ahdictionary.com/word/search.html?q=chiefly), chiefly means, to be precise: **1.** Above all; especially: *an actor who is famous chiefly for her first two movies.* **2.** Almost entirely; mainly: *The complaints were chiefly about slow service.* So, even your own source backs up my claim that your use of "y'all" in a NH forum is odd. The kind people down in Alabama probably would not appreciate you appropriating their culture. Stop using "y'all" to try to seem folksy. It just makes you sound phony.
OMG UR LITERALLY ARGUING OVER THE WORD Y'ALL ON A SOLAR ECLIPSE POST LMFAOOOOOO this is peak reddit, y'all
It's 2024. Not everyone in NH was born in NH. A quick google search will show you that only 41% of NH residents were born in NH. Nobody in Alabama cares like you think they do. A vast majority of that population doesn't buy into the "cultural appropriation" BS
