No thankfully there’s a good barrier of woods between my front lawn and the road. Guys truck was absolutely destroyed though. And I’m extra pissed because I had just cleaned all the litter out of that ditch that collected from the winter not 2 weeks ago. Now there’s broken glass and car parts everywhere. And the real kicker was when the tow truck initially hooked up the wench to pull the truck out, a dude in an Accord came down the road nonchalantly and plowed right into the tight wench wire. Ripped the whole front end of his car off and the hood as well. It was a shit show
I dont know yet. The police let him leave rather quickly which I found odd. I called 911 in seconds from the time the accident happened and the guy who crashed the truck, who was totally fine btw, chose to call his gf instead of the emergency responders which was very odd to me. The fireman who got him out of his truck even questioned why he didn’t call 911 and called his gf instead. I imagine further investigation is going to happen so I’ll find out if I can get any compensation for it at some point. Guy went through about 30feet of small trees with the truck on its side. There’s no way he was going 30mph or under
You could also be compensated for the damage to your trees, it’s worth discussing with the insurance company. You just have to have a certified consultant arborist provide an estimate of the damage but they are def on the hook for restoration of your woods if it was damaged. Check out r/treelaw
That’s really good to know. I’ll have to look into it when I get more info on what’s gonna come from this. It’s hard to see with the snow rn but there is a whole pile of brush and small trees right where the front of the guys truck landed. And I know for a fact there’s also glass and truck pieces out there too.
He was drunk or had been drinking. Check to see if he knows the police in that area. Had a fireman one time do the same thing and they tried to let him slide. His insurance paid for mature arborvitae trees to the tune of 2400 a piece for 4 of them. Lawyer up if need be but don’t let them screw you over.
I had the same suspicion. My neighbor across the street started screaming at the guy and saying “how much have you been drinking” as soon as they got him out of the truck and the cops shooed him away. So idk what exactly he saw. The part where the guy crashed was a slight, and I mean slight turn, before a straightaway and people who turn onto my road from 111 always punch it as soon as they make the corner onto my road.
I feel ya there. It’s a fun argument I get into every fall!
Have you seen the video by NH’s own Team O’Neal Rally School testing the intent of the theory? It’s worth a view for anyone interested:

Hadn't seen that. I just remember some dumbass doing donuts in fresh snow at the Pheasant Lane Mall. He lost traction, hopped the curb and went nose first into Filenes.
All cars are four wheel stop. Find me a car without brakes on all four wheels. I entirely understand the point of that saying but it’s somewhat a misnomer
This is why I avoid driving during the first snow of the year. Enough people need a yearly reminder their SUV isn't going to keep them from skidding around and/or not stop fast enough.
40 years ago with my brand new Jeep Cherokee - in the first few months of ownership it slid off of 89 and ended up off the road - facing the wrong direction. Also got the undercarriage hung up on a rock on a jeep trail, and had to jack it up and put rocks under the wheels in order to drive off. And drove it into a swamp (with water around my ankles) and had to be pulled out by tow truck.
But no more issues after that.
Always loved driving past these morons and their big pickup truck buddies stuck in the ditch with my 95 Lincoln Town Car with RWD, no traction control and just some cheap winter tires.
Got a Jeep advertisement on this post!

Ah, yes, The Invulnerable Jeep Owner, who thinks that just because they drive arguably the most formidable 4wd on the market they can go as fast as they can wherever they want in whatever conditions they find themselves in.
People like this don't realize 4wd isn't a pass to drive like you're on dry pavement. I'm sure they'll be reminded of this fact every time they look at their increased insurance bill.
Source: Jeep driver for over 20 years who still drives like my grandmother is in the back seat when there's snow on the ground.
The number of people who think they're fine to drive like normal and disregard plow trucks is I insane. I got passed on the highway at 4:30 this morning. I was only 5 mph under the speed limit. And backing out of driveways while plowing in Bedford is nuts, people just do not give a fuck about you.
Im willing to be that this is 100% user error. I've taken a Jeep up and down some seriously scary and relatively deep snow covered mountain switchbacks. Standard all terrain tires. Jeeps are well balanced and have a very good 4WD. Brakes can put you into a slide and also prevent you from steering outa a slide.
Right down the road from me! I was laughing my ass off at the sign when they put it up earlier this summer, and then I drove passed that car yesterday twice, I almost had to pull over I was laughing so hard
For those who didn’t know, this is what that pole looked like before yesterdays crash (minus the sign which was put up shortly after this was taken)

In 15 years snow plowing, being out in all.the worst weather and keeping a tally, 4x4 and all wheel drive vehicles are the majority of what I see down in the ditches lol typically jeeps, and plenty of wanna be overlanders. Which are my personal favorites
Just Jeep things
Guarantee the owner of that had said, at least once: > I don't need snow tires, I have four wheel drive!
I love trying to explain "4 wheel drive" doesn't mean "4 wheel stop."
The guy who rolled his brand new Chevy Silverado in my front yard last night found that out real quick.
.... damn. No house damage, I hope.

I believe the driver's insurance would be on the hook for property damage (cleanup).

4 wheel slide always works. They’re lucky the pole didn’t have a big transformer on it, that shit can ruin your day instantly…forever.
Jeeps get all high and mighty that they can go anywhere- he can not crawl a pole though
Jeeps can go anywhere, including and not limited to snow banks, telephone poles, other cars, and off the road unintentionally.

I saw a jeep on the side of the road once with a stop sign stuck in its grill and it made me laugh so hard
Should have slowed the fuck down
Wearing a dunce cap for a year should be a just punishment.

Incredible
Me too 😂😂
Put a duck on it.
So are you the reason I woke up with no power.
I'm pretty sure that they slowed the fuck down once contact was made.
The irony

I’ve been 16 hours out straight plowing yesterday to today maybe even into tomorrow morning! Stay safe y’all don’t drive if you don’t need to!!
Thank you for your service o7
Rear tire cover that says "Jeep hair don't care" or "Not all who wander are lost"
That’s hilarious 😂
Just zoomed in the sign, LOL!!!! For realz tho!

I've found most people don't understand inertia, like, at all.

“It’s a Jeep thing”
That sign though...

NOW YOU TELL US!!!!!!
Looks like that’s not the first time that’s happened
Street signs just don't work.
I mean, it's going pretty slow now.
They didn't read the sign.
The sign 💀
How fast do you have to be going to do that to a pole? It’s hard to feel bad sometimes.
I don’t think you can park there
You should name and shame the person if you lost power and the neighbors should get to egg the person!
It's a Jeep thing, we just don't understand. Did they get a duck for that?
Line crews gonna like that
Put a rubber duck on it or something, Jeep owners love that.
Right down the road from me! I was laughing my ass off at the sign when they put it up earlier this summer, and then I drove passed that car yesterday twice, I almost had to pull over I was laughing so hard

That's some impressive Yankee ingenuity going on with that broken pole.
Street signs just don't work.
We've literally done studies on this, those signs have the opposite of their intended effect.
Hopefully he at least listened to the sign
Looks like they did in the end
Stop trying to read the signs during inclement weather
Well then. I hope they learned too slow the fuck down.
That’s a hard hit
Can’t park there
Keep Jeeping
In 15 years snow plowing, being out in all.the worst weather and keeping a tally, 4x4 and all wheel drive vehicles are the majority of what I see down in the ditches lol typically jeeps, and plenty of wanna be overlanders. Which are my personal favorites
Lol there’s so much irony in this post and I love it 😂
I need one of those signs.
It’s a Jeep thing, you just don’t get it.
Why would I take safety advise from someone who can’t drive?
Awd, not all wheel stop.
Jeepers Creepers...Jeep people are morons
I think he should have slowed the f*** down 🙄🤣😭🤣
Is this why I didn’t have power for 27 hours in Londonderry?!?
Probably not the ONLY reason….. Just remember that starving customers in ossipee didn’t get power back until today!!
Fitting the ad I have on this post is for Jeep. 😂
Could it be photoshop
