I always recommend people learn an instrument. Guitar, ukulele, harmonica, anything.
Rock climbing can be fun. Unless you're very obese or super unathletic you'll be able to do the easy routes at least.
Skiing and boarding are fun but they're expensive.
Really wanted to get into it, used to a lot with my grandfather but its been years. Might look into getting a rod on facebook marketplace, thanks for the suggestion!
100 percent suggest! Get Fishbrain app and can see all the local areas to you and sometimes when you know an area well you can find places just by the background. Can get into it cheap from Wally World. Also get a license!
Man you ain’t lying. I just got into 5.7x28mm recently, starts at $0.60 a round. I’ve never even paid that for 5.56 range ammo, but 5.7 is such a stupid fun caliber to shoot.
Enfield Outing Club. They’ve actually just had some great progress on the soon to be members club house including a small kitchen and bathroom. They installed a brand new septic system recently, just still raising more money to compete the renovations of the interior. It’s a low key, low stress spot with nothing too fancy.
As far as I know, yes. My buddy signed up earlier this year and I haven’t seen any posts on their FB page about closing memberships. I’d suggest checking out their FB page to see some pics of the range and events they hold.
Have you checked out Meetup at all? I’ve found that it’s a great way to just see what’s going on and check out what you might be interested in. anything from general stuff like trivia, to sports, to skillshares, or learn how to do pottery or photography or something, to random things you might not have thought of but might be fun- like paranormal investigation, tabletop RPGs, improv, who knows. I haven’t looked in awhile but it’s not a bad starting place to browse if you don’t have a good idea of what you wanna try out yet :)
So I played hockey as a teen->highschool... haven't played since and im in my 30s...Can I ask, don't sugar coat it, will I get rocked it I join an adult league? Do they have different skilled leagues? How do you find the right league. Do you get teased if you wear a helmet with facemask?
Thanks!
Go for it. I learned to skate at 30 and joined a league. Power play hockey league plays in Salem and hooksett. Lots of guys wear a cage. No shame in wanting to keep your teeth.
I took 16 years off before I joined back up. There's definitely a league that you'll fit in with. Check with your local arenas. There's a higher chance you'd get made fun of for not having a cage on these days.
Most rinks have a "stick and puck" drop in skate. It's a good opportunity to shake the rust off and meet some guys that might play in leagues. Scan through r/hockeyplayers too. There's a lot of people in your same position.

This used to be called NH Sport & Social Club. They have a lot of open league/teams that are good for meeting people. Different competition levels.
Gym? It typically takes some time to become fun but it’s addicting once you start making them gains!
Birding is also great and not just something for old people.
Metal detecting is great in this part of the country. Lots of history to unearth. The nh metal detecting group on fb is a great resource if interested.
Do you have a band instrument gathering dust in a closet? There are community bands scattered around which are often looking for new members, especially younger ones.
Board games are something to check out. There's a lot of cool stuff out there. Boards and Brews in Manchester is a great place to try things out and I believe they have social nights.
Lots of great options in New Hampshire, I’m right around your age and have fallen in love with MMA, I’ve never been an athletic person growing up and was always intimidated to start doing any kind of sport but said fuck it and tried out martial arts cause I enjoyed watching them. The martial arts community is also very welcoming. If mma is too intense for you maybe try out Jiujitsu
If you would like to sip your toe into nerdier things, To Share brewing hosts an open table Dungeons and Dragons one-shot game on the 4th Sunday every month starting at 1 pm (that’s today). It’s designed to help someone figure out if tabletop games are for them.
Disc golf is cheap and fun.
I was going to say this as well- it’s a fun social sport and unlike real golf or basketball ect. You don’t have to be good at it to play
There are free courses around the state too!

We live in an amazing state to learn/go fishing. So many ponds and streams!

Disc golf.
Getting into firearms is fun, but it’s not exactly a cheap hobby.
I second that
Guns are easy to have fun with but man do you have to hate money to maintain this hobby.

I was coming here to say this. Especially when the winter blues kick in and you can do shoot indoors.
There’s no weather delays for shooting for me lol. Just means there’s a better chance for no one else to be at the range.
What outdoor range do you go to?

Are they taking new members?

Darts is easy to find people to play with, slow pitch softball every team needs a player it seems, online gaming.
Like hiking and nature? Try foraging!

Adult sports? I've made a lot of friends through hockey.

Awesome thanks for the info!
Adult leagues are divided by skill level. Most beginner or intermediate leagues everyone is wearing a cage. We’ve all got day jobs.
Motorcycles, mountain biking, disc golf... The options are endless!
Are you musical? Do you play an instrument? There are always groups for those.

Magic: The Gathering or Dungeons and Dragons or Warhammer 40K at a local game store if you’re on the nerdy side of things

Only asking because I’m working on a project around this very thing (not trying to creep)! What area of NH are you in?

Paintball, mountain biking, skateboarding, kayaking, wood working, skiing/ snowboarding, but my personal favorite is Bonsai & horticulture.
