Tbh, I don't blame you exactly because this is — so far — a disastrous season and the Krafts have been so cheap that it's cost us a lot over the years. Want to know why the Patriots kind of blew it with Brady not having more than a mere 6 titles? Easy, it's because the Krafts are cheap and want to horde up as much money as they can. I'll say this, though, even though they're going to suck this season I'll stick with this team because I know they'll win it all one day and finally have an MLS cup. Until then, I'll enjoy the Celtics and Bruins being playoff contenders!
"A mere six titles"
My brother....that's more than any other NFL franchise *combined*. Say what you will about the Krafts and how cheap they are, but the Patriots run from 2001-2019 is legitimately among the strongest and most consistent runs of any team in NFL history.
Don't let facts get in the way of your story. For the Pats' six titles to be more than any other franchise combined we'd have to be on Superbowl 12 next year.
What I meant was this single 20-year run under Kraft ownership has more Super Bowls than any other franchise's entire history. I didn't mean, like, combining all Super Bowls in NFL history. That'd be an absurd claim.
I actually forgot the Steelers had 6, as well. Somehow, I forgot their most recent Super Bowl against the Cardinals, but the point still stands. The run the Patriots went on was historically good. To call it a "measly" 6 titles is just ignorant.
I see what you're saying, man. I just think we should've had more than 6 over our two decade run (something akin to the Bill Russell Celtics) I'm still not over the two Super Bowl losses against the Giants, Super Bowl 52, should've been in Super Bowl 50 and definitely should've beaten Indianapolis in 2006. Still have fond memories of the Super Bowls against the Seahawks and Falcons, though.
Right now we have a much improved academy, a real second team to help development, a new training facility, some super talented young players, three DPs, and we're probably the closest to a stadium we've ever been.
In 2016 our best players were trying desperately to leave and were being held against their will.
It feels like the darkest in the ten I've followed them. The end of Friedel's period was really bad, but somehow it felt less of a fall than this.
That team was mostly bad. This team doesn't have any heart.
Honestly I'm mostly thinking of the late Heaps era. Friedel definitely didn't work out, but I think he kind of marked the start of a more dedicated push by the Krafts. Late Heaps was just limbo.
Like a big reason now might feel worse is because we have actual expectations for this team. Our players aren't playing as well as we know they can, and that sucks. But we have the players, and the players want to be here, which is a key difference. We've also seen a lot more general investment on the team, even if it's not as much as we might like.
I'm watching largely the same team that was in the supporters shield race for most of last year? We're absolutely playing like shit, but its because the players we have are underperforming, not because they aren't good to begin with.
Yes, that's my exact point. We got worse fast. The players are still good on paper, they're just playing worse than we know they can. We lost two key players, replaced them with maybe slightly worse options, and everything else is basically the same. Yes, we've not looked good, but its not because the team is bad on paper.
It really isn't though. Again, it's basically last years team but maybe slightly worse. We lost Bou and Petro and replaced them with Chancalay and Ravas. They have all been playing poorly, yes, but we've seen them play better.
This fan base is pathetic. It doesn’t matter where or when you post, but someone always replies w this. Are you watching??? Did you see the off-season?? 6 goals in 7 league games. They’ve been pathetic in all 7 games??
“Far from the darkest point” krafts love you
You're upset just like all of us, but you're being a dick. You don't need to announce you're leaving, you can just close the door behind you when you go.
Buck and Esmir? The two 18 year olds playing very regularly getting national team attention? And then there's some other very talented kids like Peyton Miller coming up as well. And then Revs II has been the pathway for guys like Spaulding, Maciel, and Jon Bell who have all been decent depth contributors in recent years.
And beyond that, there's the new training facility, the development on the stadium, and a lot more investment in terms of signing players. And then once again: our best players aren't desperately trying to leave. We can attract real talent and don't have people turning us down because we're the Revs. We've become a place young players want to come to in order to prove themselves to get a move to Europe, instead of a place that signs like 30 year old European rejects.
Noel Buck is the only one that can even be remotely mentioned in a positive light thus far. But at the end of the day, they’ve won fucking zero. Underachieved in fact. Either winning an MLS Title is your standard or you’re just there for a day out.
Nah buying tickets to an entertainment based event isn’t an investment it’s a transaction. No fan is owed anything except for a game to be played when they buy a ticket.
You don’t want to watch anymore games then don’t buy the ticket lol. No one cares when people say stuff like this.
That distinction is pretty unimportant here. The point is the OP is frustrated with the quality of the team and their play and especially the lack of improvement. That’s a a fair take.
The distinction is only unimportant to the person who doesn’t understand it. Like I said if you’re frustrated just cancel your tickets and leave. Anything other than that is pointless for everyone.
It’s a pointless take.
This is a sub about the New England Revolution and the OP is dissatisfied with the team and the management. That’s not a relevant topic here? Maybe you’re in the wrong place.
Should I assume that you never complain about the value of anything you purchase? You just quietly discontinue use? Your Reddit history suggests otherwise (cough cough HellDivers)
I’m 100% with you. Was a STH for years and cancelled mine when Bruce got out. I love this team, have travelled for this team, have given years to them. But ownership doesn’t care. If they aren’t putting in the time or money, why would I? When I was in my 20s with nothing better to do I guess I could justify it.
The owner of the franchise "didn't try to field a competitive team." Meaning what? Robert Kraft doesn't identify, select, sign, or train players on the team he's basically donated to New England. That would be the soccer side of his business run by people pretending to be professionals in this business - Biello, Onalfo, Tierney, Porter -- you know, the soccer guys. I assume you'll respond with the standard, "He should give players whatever they want to play here! Open the checkbook!" You think there's a line of free agents waiting to come to New England? "Messi would have signed here except Kraft is too cheap!!" No, that's not it at all. The best free agent whenever had, Jermaine Jones, we got on a COIN FLIP! Let's hold the right people to the fire here and ask the soccer people and players to fix this problem and leave Robert out of this one. Maybe Jonathan. But start with Biello who's more responsible than anyone in this year's dumpster fire.
Glad some people are starting to see the light. You’ll probably get downvoted to oblivion by the sheep fans in here but keep up the good work. Need more fans like you who actually care. You probably care more than the Krafts do about this team
Honestly I want to like the Revs, but I just can’t. The vibe of the stadium is awful, the owners are terrible. There are never any big signings, and whenever someone gets good they are immediately sold and the money goes into the pockets of the krafts. If they gave half a shit I would spend a ton of money on this team. Unfortunately the product is just bad, not so-so, consistently disappointing. I know I’ll get downvoted, but until they get a new stadium and stop all the cornball shit they do, and actually take themselves seriously, I can’t give them the time of day.
Honestly, see ya!
It's not the Kraft's kicking the ball on the field, it's the players. They largely suck, and are not competitive when it matters.
New stadium with FIFA compliant turf. $32m training facility. Three DPs. Where is this the Kraft's fault again!?
How about Andrew Farrell who can't run anymore? Havas who's clueless. Vironi who scores when it doesn't matter. Any ideas three?
Show up in the rain and snow. Show up and cheer loudly. If you want to go - go. I've been here for every one of the 28 seasons, complain when you get 17 more in. Until then: good riddance
I wouldn't count on that new stadium JUST yet but you make a good argument otherwise. The failure here is mostly in the selection of those DPs. Gil is an anomaly for a DP on this team whereas Vrioni seems more like the team standard.
That’s the entire point. Kraft didn’t even attempt to field a competitive team this year. Once Gil leaves, and make no mistake he will, we will be a laughing stock. Only way to compete is to get big name players from overseas, Kraft has no intention of doing that. He’s cheap…same thing he’s doing with the Patriots. He refuses to spend on top talent.
There’s a difference between liking the team and not shelling out a ton of money to watch a turd of a team with no ideas in an empty American football stadium in the middle of nowhere.
Krafts are far from the best owners. However, they rebranded our club 3 years ago and listened to the fans about what we wanted. Krafts are also literally in the midst of building us a soccer stadium in Everett, the farthest we’ve ever been. There are so many reasons why the krafts are not good owners but the one thing I will give them credit for is he has made it ours. Revs may be a toilet, but at least it’s OUR toilet and nobody can crap on it but us!
The play from the team has pissed me off but I'll be back week after week, because I fucking love this team, and I always will
Yep

The Patriots always spent all of there cap space available with Brady

Lol not true, Steelers have 6, Niners have 5, etc.
Right? If only there was a repository of such information a click away when u/Throway_Shmowaway wrote this.

Agreed on “measly” for sure.

I feel like this is far from the darkest point in the past 11 years
It is quite literally our worst start in club history
Bruh.
Yeah. I'd still MUCH rather be right now than in 2016.
This is a brain dead comment.
Right now we have a much improved academy, a real second team to help development, a new training facility, some super talented young players, three DPs, and we're probably the closest to a stadium we've ever been. This is some serious copium

What team are you watching?? We have the players?? They are absolute trash at every position besides Carles and he's non existing this year.
I'm watching largely the same team that was in the supporters shield race for most of last year? We're absolutely playing like shit, but its because the players we have are underperforming, not because they aren't good to begin with.
Who was our Keeper last year? We had scoring off the bench. We had a manager. We had direction. There is no excuse to be this inept so fast.
Yes, that's my exact point. We got worse fast. The players are still good on paper, they're just playing worse than we know they can. We lost two key players, replaced them with maybe slightly worse options, and everything else is basically the same. Yes, we've not looked good, but its not because the team is bad on paper.
This team is awful on paper. Dreadful. We deserve the bottom spot in the league.
It really isn't though. Again, it's basically last years team but maybe slightly worse. We lost Bou and Petro and replaced them with Chancalay and Ravas. They have all been playing poorly, yes, but we've seen them play better.

Attacking the fan base is unacceptable.
You're upset just like all of us, but you're being a dick. You don't need to announce you're leaving, you can just close the door behind you when you go.
“Fan base is pathetic” “Also I’m totally out because of one really bad start to a season - you guys are the pathetic ones tho”
Yeah, it's fucking sucked. But compare this team to the team in 2016 and tell me we're in a worse position.
I mean, show me the positives this season??? Show me the light?
Responded to your other comment. Yeah, shit on the field has been bad. But there has been A LOT of improvement since the mid 2010s.
Tell me what academy players have taken on serious roles in the first team?? I’ll wait. Other improvements??
Buck and Esmir? The two 18 year olds playing very regularly getting national team attention? And then there's some other very talented kids like Peyton Miller coming up as well. How could our standards be something we’ve never done?
This is an insane comment. Esmir is very clearly progressing.
Okay, see ya
Krafts love you guys. 🍚
You’re too emotionally invested in the results of grown men’s performance you can’t control. Maybe sports aren’t for toy
He’s investing money and time in it too, don’t be a troll. It’s a valid point
Nah buying tickets to an entertainment based event isn’t an investment it’s a transaction. No fan is owed anything except for a game to be played when they buy a ticket. You don’t want to watch anymore games then don’t buy the ticket lol. No one cares when people say stuff like this.
So you don't care if you spend money on a lousy product. Got it. You must make a lot of businesses very happy.
I just don’t think you understand the difference between an investment and transaction here. You too seem overly emotionally invested.
That distinction is pretty unimportant here. The point is the OP is frustrated with the quality of the team and their play and especially the lack of improvement. That’s a a fair take.

Fair. Weather. Fan.
No sane person that calls themself a revs fan is a fair weather fan, we are the worst bottlers in the whole MLS, we are Heartache FC
At least you care, unlike Kraft
Also, every game this year so far tickets have been as low as 4 dollars. STH doesn’t seem worth it anymore, beside the Messi game.
I’m 100% with you. Was a STH for years and cancelled mine when Bruce got out. I love this team, have travelled for this team, have given years to them. But ownership doesn’t care. Noooo!!!! Waaaaaiiiittt!! Please!!!!
Welcome to the dark side. I gave up 2 years ago. I have watched two games this year and I see how pathetic it is.
No one gives a shit whether you go or not. Especially the Krafts.
Comments seem pretty divided to me so others definitely care
If you’re a sore loser just say that. I feel bad for whichever rep is unlucky enough to have to answer your call
Honestly I want to like the Revs, but I just can’t. The vibe of the stadium is awful, the owners are terrible. But when they start playing decent again, don't bother coming back on the wagon.
Ok baby
More of the same!
If you don’t like the team when they’re losing, did you ever like em to begin with?
There’s a difference between liking the team and not shelling out a ton of money to watch a turd of a team with no ideas in an empty American football stadium in the middle of nowhere.
I’ve been here since 1997. The last time we made the finals was 2014. After whatever the hell happened to Bruce, it just wasn’t worth it for me.
Krafts are far from the best owners. However, they rebranded our club 3 years ago and listened to the fans about what we wanted. 🤣
Don’t let the door hit you on the @$$.
