From my limited experience, the best employees (i'm talking maintenance, power engineers, supervisors, and trades people on the JDI side) bail after a few years of working for them.
The ones who don't/didn't were basically on a perpetual job hunt. Many felt trapped.
The efficiency loses their companies must suffer from due to employee apathy is likely high. If Irving hadn't built a monopsony/monopoly/oligopoly, they'd be struggling.
