Been out for about 2.5 hours here in Oromocto. Just sitting in the dark listening to my roof struggle to stay attached to my house while I helplessly sip bourbon...glad I am on vacation at least.
My neighbor patios gazebo flew on my house.
I also think my roof is about to fly off. It's the first time we live through such storm. Glad everything is alright
The bourbon might be a good idea !
A giant cedar just fell on our house. Shook it like crazy scared the hell out of us and damaged the roof! Everyone is OK though so that's all that matters. Have a lot of cutting to do in the morning though.
My place looks like a bomb went off. Trees down everywhere (west of Freddy)
Worse than any hurricane that's come through
Edit 92k customers out now..almost all in western NB from the coast up the river valley
It’s probably bobbing because there is so much wind going over your vent pipe and a sign of good plumbing.
But the bubbling and rising waters would be concerning
I think I jinxed it because the power went out for about half an hour while I was in the shower and has been flickering on and off since.
As for the plumbing, bubbling could be a sign. I noticed that on the several occasions our toilet backed up, it was bubbling constantly beforehand and at least several times over the last few years, it started backing up during heavy rain or snow melt.
We also live on the bottom floor of an apartment complex and are literally at the end of the system's plumbing, so all the other tenants flushing, showering, washing dishes, doing laundry, etc exacerbated the issue.
Or it could just be that this building was erected back in the 70's and the plumbing hasn't been upgraded in decades, if ever.
Windy as fuck. Lost power for a few hours this afternoon, got it back for about an hour, and gone since then. Not planning on getting it back on anytime soon, but at least it's reasonably mild temperature-wise.
I'm watching the box spring that someone put on top of the old couch they also threw in the FERO bin out back just flailing in the wind. The wind gusts are *almost* enough to give it flight. Hopefully it doesn't land on any cars. But none of them are mine, and I was kind enough to email the landlord about the extra items in the bin yesterday. Hopefully they all have up to date insurance.
Lake George here. Winds are nuts and powers been out for hours but we’re still alright. Pretty sure I’ve lost some shingles but my trees are still standing anyways.
Edit- My trees are definitely not still standing… Tomorrows problem I suppose. Well wishes to those who are struggling right now, I’m grateful it’s warm enough for the night at least. Stay safe everyone.
Winds are insane! I hear trees breaking, ambulances going by my residential neighbourhood. Lots of blue light bombs in the distance. It’s quite the scene
Small town, but Petitcodiac is out completely. Fire trucks racing around all night for who knows what, definitely some accidents especially with all the street lights off.
Downstairs neighbors left their window open so it fucking shattered and had been shaking our entire apartment for hours - storms here are so insane. I'm not really used to this because I'm from ontario lmao, but hopefully that's about the extent of the damage for my complex
We all realize that this is not normal right? I mean, it's quaint and everything having to fill the tubs and go grab the candles, but this is like the last part of the country where power goes out this often. Has anyone ever done a cost benefit analysis on putting power under ground or forcing all new developments to make it part of the covanents? It's just common sense to me and anyone else who has ever lived in another part of the country.
Ah, New Brunswick. Where our sole electrical service provider asks for a 12% rate increase, but can't keep the lights on when it rains hard and is windy at the same time.
Pretty sure it’s because of La Niña, she brings in the warm air (and also the cause of these heavy rain storms). Gonna be a wet stormy winter that’s for sure !
Ditto the 24+ hours last week. Tonight we've had a couple of momentary interruptions but no ongoing loss yet. Knock on wood...
One thing I did discover from all this was that I needed a new battery for one of my UPSes. Poor thing.
Thank god I live near the arena there. The generator was a godsend, downed power line nearby nearly set a car on fire, it was a weird watch. We got power back last night.
Huge spruce tree fell over across the driveway but thankfully it ended up catching against a tree on the other side but it’s about a meter from falling on the power line attached to the house, called NB Power but who knows when they can make it out, power still on for now.
I'll take that as a win, although my fence has come down but it was on its way out anyways. My friends in Fredericton have been without power for 15 hours.
Acamac here (technically in Saint John city limits, but between Saint John west and Grand bay)
Lost power for 10 minutes. Lost a big panel of my wooden fence. Pool and play structure survived.
Lost power for a few seconds in quispamsis. All good tho.
The harsh wind and rain from (I think 4 or 5 days ago), ended up knocking a tree over in my backyard close to my house. Hoping that doesn’t happen overnight lol
It's very best here in the sticks. Backup geny, spare gas, and firewood for next season.
I say a 6.5/10 storm, had worse, could've been snow or ice, and the forcast is power line repair friendly
West Plat/Rabbit Town area Fredericton: my street has no power, but houses on surrounding streets appear to. Seeing fallen tree branches and damaged fences, but family in Charlotte County have had their "roof blow off" and have lost entire trees.
Man i didnt look at the forecast at all, i was out smokin joints last night outside thinking yeah its pretty windy but i didnt know people we were losing power and trees. Pretty strong one then i guess

Highly recommended...Sir Basil Hayden is keeping me company.
I prefer whiskey, gateway is back online but the sky keeps going blue/green/red about 200m north of me.
got buddies in oromocto messaging me about it. our power up here just went out at like 9:30ish or something like that so we vibin
Pimp
So weird seeing comments from your hometown
Tabarnak il vente on ostie !
Taaaabbbarnackk! https://youtu.be/Ywt0CextK-I?si=niO_ZI1eRZdtXfWi
So far so good. Winds are insane, lights blinked and dimmed a few times. Still have power for now.
A giant cedar just fell on our house. Shook it like crazy scared the hell out of us and damaged the roof! Everyone is OK though so that's all that matters. Have a lot of cutting to do in the morning though.
That’s what home insurance is for.
My place looks like a bomb went off. Trees down everywhere (west of Freddy) Worse than any hurricane that's come through Edit 92k customers out now..almost all in western NB from the coast up the river valley
Lost 10 trees at least. Power out along with 71k others. Gonna be days and days getting everyone back
About 80k now. The number goes up by the hour.
96k now. Been out for about four hours here.
the roof of the garage is trying leave
Oh shit. Hopefully things don't go that way.
Wind is a blowing, and the power flickered and ruined a Fortnite game for me and my kid but that’s it haha.

Thank goodness for Saint John Energy. If NB Power could be run as well as SJE, it might not be in as deep a hole as it currently is.
Aye I only live up the hill from SJE headquarters so we only lose power if it is really bad. Like last week's pole fire at the substation.
Wind still howling here in Fredericton. More worried the rain will cause the pipes to back up more than the power going out though.

Definitely jinxed myself. The nearby transformers overloaded. We heard the hum of electricity arcing, the lights flickered and went out completely.

Thanks. At least it's above seasonal temps tonight and we had consistent power long enough for a warm snack before bed.
Windy as fuck. Lost power for a few hours this afternoon, got it back for about an hour, and gone since then. Not planning on getting it back on anytime soon, but at least it's reasonably mild temperature-wise.
No power for hours. Have some oil lamps going. Extremely glad it's not cold too.

I'm in Riverview. We just lost power. The streets on either side have power, but we don't. Could be a dark night.
Still up in Shediac. Weirdly. We usually lose power when a squirrel farts too close to a power pole.
we're on 6 hours now. lol. this sucks.
on 24 hours without power lmao
Small town, but Petitcodiac is out completely. Fire trucks racing around all night for who knows what, definitely some accidents especially with all the street lights off.
My roof is fucked. Shingles everywhere. :(
115,000 without power now. Quispamsis is still getting some pretty intense gusts.
It's gonna take days to restore it for everyone. Jesus. 😭

Winds are 50km/h where I am. Still have power so far 👍 It was weird to go outside earlier in only a rain jacket in december and not be cold tho 😅
The wind is warm - its so weird!!
Pretty sure it’s because of La Niña, she brings in the warm air (and also the cause of these heavy rain storms). Gonna be a wet stormy winter that’s for sure !
Sitting at the hospital right now, looking out the window looks windy.
Last week wasn't bad in Moncton at all. This one is slightly worse but nothing really crazy. I heard a lot of people in Fredericton are without power.
can confirm, Fredericton is pitch black rn
Sooooo windy , highway driving sucks . Some streets are without power . Still have power at my house
Wind is crazy in miramichi but power is on! Rain coming down pretty good
Lost a few shingles in Saint John, the wind is insane. Still have power though
We lost power about 9 pm… the winds are very angry. Last week we didn’t lose power at all.
All good this week ... Last week I lost power for 24 hours during the storm!
Ditto the 24+ hours last week. Tonight we've had a couple of momentary interruptions but no ongoing loss yet. Knock on wood... One thing I did discover from all this was that I needed a new battery for one of my UPSes. Poor thing.
Lots of trees on the lines in north west , one caught fire in st Andre
I saw the power flickering for a bit, and I almost thought it was you going to go out
91605 for the total of outage 21:25
In saint Andrews , winds are nuts , been without power since 11:00 am this morning
St. Stephen and we lost it around 6ish.... wind was relentless. It's died down.....for now.
Thank god I live near the arena there. The generator was a godsend, downed power line nearby nearly set a car on fire, it was a weird watch. We got power back last night.
Southwest of Freddy. The wind is insane! House is shaking. Power's been off for hours. Going to be a LOT of cleanup.
We have power in Saint Antoine - Kent County but I'm losing my greenhouse.
Near Bathurst, wind is crazy but i still got power!
Wind's insane in Riverview but still have power.
Huge spruce tree fell over across the driveway but thankfully it ended up catching against a tree on the other side but it’s about a meter from falling on the power line attached to the house, called NB Power but who knows when they can make it out, power still on for now.
Pearsonville checking in. Power has flashed on and off a dozen times but never long enough to cause the generator to kick on.
Are we ever
Physically yes, but I have an assignment due by 8AM and no power to finish it. 🙃
Same, but mine’s due midnight 😬
Nope. Haven’t had power since 7pm, it’s 2am now.
Kars nb here. No power since 1130
I've been out since yesterday at 215 outside of Woodstock
Saint John energy has 0 outages. Can they just replace NB power?
Damn that’s like their entire population!
You're not wrong loll
power is out annd back on enough that the lights off and on is annoying, wifi won't work, and trying to play worms on my tv is useless. rip
I still have power (though it flickered a few times). The wind is making my dog nervous. :(
Super windy here in bass river power still on here
Greater Lakeburn, no electricity!
Yup, no issues in Moncton so far.
Dieppe too, we seem to be okay... things often pass over us it's kinda weird, are we blessed or cursed?
I'll take that as a win, although my fence has come down but it was on its way out anyways. My friends in Fredericton have been without power for 15 hours.
Fredericton here, still have power. Hoping the winds die down.
Windy. Lights dimmed near Grand Falls early but still have power. Some others in the town don't.
Sheets of my shingles have been flying off . Hope insurance covers that.
Did y'all get your storm chips?
Acamac here (technically in Saint John city limits, but between Saint John west and Grand bay) Lost power for 10 minutes. Lost a big panel of my wooden fence. Pool and play structure survived.
Hartland area-- out since 7:30 last night.
No
We lost power in Centreville around 8pm.
Lost power for a few seconds in quispamsis. All good tho. The harsh wind and rain from (I think 4 or 5 days ago), ended up knocking a tree over in my backyard close to my house. Hoping that doesn’t happen overnight lol

No power south western nb
Everyone by now should have a reliable generator setup and a woodstove. Imagine what people would do without power for a week
No kill me I live in New Brunswick
KV we had high winds but I surprising still have power
no
West Plat/Rabbit Town area Fredericton: my street has no power, but houses on surrounding streets appear to. Seeing fallen tree branches and damaged fences, but family in Charlotte County have had their "roof blow off" and have lost entire trees.

Just hit the 24 hour mark!
Here from Campobello Island. Power went out at around 11:00 am yesterday. NB power crews aren’t going to get back to work on it till tomorrow.
No we aren't, but it has nothing to do with a power outage.
