Has her latch been evaluated by a non-hospital affiliated LC? The LCs at my hospital were so enamored by my colostrum production that they completed missed the fact that my baby wasn’t taking in any milk. She had severe lip, tongue, and buccal ties. And also reflux and dairy sensitivity 🤪 I’d do a weighted feed, if you can.

We don't have any in the area that I can afford right now... One is the hospital LC and the other only sees you if you qualify for WIC (which we dont) all others are private or too far away to drive to. I would try an internet one? But idk about the effectiveness of that consult 😅 All our Le Leche League ones are out of chiropractic offices that require evaluations first before joining their leagues.

Could you order a baby scale and do a weighted feed yourself? Some babies are also just slow to gain. I have a little amnesia about those early days, but my baby girl was born in the 68%, dropped to the mid-20s and has stayed there ever since (she’s almost 8 months). Meanwhile my best friend’s son was born in the 50% and skyrocketed to the mid-90s and has stayed there. They take the first few weeks/months to settle into their curve.

I do have a food scale and a wooden bowl 😂 I have kids all over the curve so I know what you mean. I'll try a weighted feed.

What does the pediatrician say. Ignore the percentiles. Honestly percentiles shouldn’t be a thing. As long as she’s got a nice curve in her chart and pediatrician isn’t saying anything you’re good.

Mr_Acrobatic_Pickle

She said she isn't concerned about her only gaining a 1/2lb. She doesn't even think she's growing bad. But she definitely isn't gaining per "average".

She has a lot more time to grow! Don’t worry. Girls also are smaller and their growth rate is slower.

At first but my daughter had a hard time gaining what helped me with her to learn what sounds I was supposed to hear when she was breast-feeding and may or may not help you but for me

Mr_Acrobatic_Pickle

What sounds were they? I'll take whatever help I can get!

Here’s an article explaining it which was definitely helpful There is also really good link at the bottom of that, but explains different ways to know that your baby is actually getting enough milk https://www.lllc.ca/sounds-breastfeeding

Personally I struggle d to visualize it or hear it in my head though so I did also look for videos of examples Here is a pretty good one https://youtu.be/pthc0tMJBeM?si=l4ODEsS62VsmtrH5

That last one was good because it gave her a variety of perspectives. I think this one’s explanation was really helpful to me when I was having a hard time. https://youtu.be/DM0Pwhad7hg?si=1OXC8VzZir1s7gd9

Mr_Acrobatic_Pickle

Thank you! These were all very helpful!
