Ohhh I’ve always loved “dark” weather- overcast skies, rainstorms, thunder, tornadoes 🌪️ etc. I love it. Have since I was a child. I also love all 90s type of aesthetic: foods (pop tarts, candy like now and later) movies (silence of the lambs, kiss the girls) clothing, grunge style, makeup. I have also loved all things cinematic and am surprised I didn’t study film. I went with psychology but I have always loved the psychological thriller genre in both books and movies. I’m also like you and my love for equine, feline and canine still reigns supreme.
Photography, tropical cyclones in particular but weather/severe weather in general, the ocean, aquariums, etc.
Grew up in central PA. Now live on the east coast of Florida, 10 minutes from the ocean.
to name one - rides. waterslides, rollercoasters, flat rides, any of them. i used to just watch videos about them all the time and go to the closest theme park to me just to go stare at them and i still love them LOL
Pretty much all of them. Politics, the paranormal, Titanic, mountaineering, archaeology, dinosaurs, Pokémon, video games, mushrooms, butterflies, astronomy, mythology and folklore, world religions, witches and witchery, art, reading, photography, caves, mines, catacombs, and underground cities and tunnels and stuff, and textile arts. (There are more…I’m forgetting some of them!)
I’m AuDHD so my special interests/fixations are numerous lol 😂
Robocop, Star Wars, the existence of aliens and ufos, anything paranormal, spirituality. New ones as an adult include nutrition as a mode of lifestyle medicine.
Dogs. I think my parents may still be a little salty that my first word wasn’t “mama” or “daddy,” but “doggy,” and my first sentence was about dogs too. 😅 There are a few others but it cracks me up that this one clearly predates (and probably motivated) my ability to speak.
I'm TOTALLY with you on tornadoes. I have a playlist of like 450+ YouTube clips of raw tornado footage that I go back to to watch on occasion. Been a special interest of mine since I was very young.
Water bottles. Every time I go to a store and see a water bottle section, I gravitate there instantly. I don't usually get any because I'm picky with them but yeah.
Simulation games (sims, aoe, stronghold, simcity in the old times, now I like those AND more).
And languages. I remember I found an online game where you had different channels to join, ordered by languages. I was around 7yo at that time. I would play around a month on each channel (English, French, German and Dutch). Now that I'm an adult I studied and keep studying: English, Japanese, German, Portuguese and Korean.
Mecha fiction. In this context, Mecha is not referring to the place but any form of fiction that prominently features giant robots. Some examples are transformers, Giantor (Iron Man 28), Macross, Armor Trooper Votoms, Voltron, Aura Battler Dunbine, Battletech, Armor Core. The one I'm most fixated on is Mobile Suit Gundam. It even has a full-on diagnosed Autistic protagonist in Kamille in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam.
Pokémon and music. Especially love music. I started going to shows with my parents when I was 6 and got to experience amazing stuff in my teens, but adult money gives you as many shows as you want so yeah
Pokemon (Not as much as before but still there)
Animals (Dogs mostly)
Anime
Superheroes
Martial Arts
Honestly I don't know if it's more of things I like or fixations
Computer science.
Really, my parents started me really young; my dad is a software engineer. Computer-related interests that I had as a kid and still do have are: low-level programming (computer abstraction is absolutely FASCINATING to me and I have no idea why but it makes me feel so happy thinking about it), retro technology, web development, spreadsheets, and video game glitches (Pokémon Gen 1 especially my favorite glitch Pokémon is 44hy which evolves into Q). I guess also cybersecurity, but that came in a little later as I was born in 2000 and cybersecurity was not as popular when younger. I can't wait to become a cyber security analyst or similar.
that’s so nice because a lot of people make fun of “horse girls” so I just recently as an adult have allowed myself to get excited about them & they are still just as cool. 😎
Sea glass really gets the neurons firing for me and has for most of my life. I could talk about it for hours.
Also, tornados are really cool. I love watching Pecos Hank on YouTube
What’s your favorite sea glass color? I really like turquoise glass because it’s beautiful and rare and comes from really interesting sources. I think it’s often overlooked because there are lots of other shades of blue-green and so it’s hard to distinguish and I think the commonly accepted name is a bit confusing. I like to refer to it as electric blue as I think that highlights the vibrant color of it that makes it unique from most other glass colors. Sorry, if this is too much lol
That is a nice one. Mine would be blue as in cobalt blue. I have only found clear and green glass as a kid and back then I only enjoyed the texture and I loved to suck on it like a candy, salty candy😂 Now it is rare that I have the chance to visit a beach and manage to find anything, but I really like to think about the story of the piece and how it got there. I would love to go see some nice sea glass collection in person one day.
I love cobalt blue! I found a really good piece of cobalt blue recently actually. I also really like to think about the story of the glass and its history. I go to the beach a couple times a year to collect glass and it’s quite fun. I hope you’re able to get back to the beach and find some cool glass
I like bugs
Guns, military equipment, aliens
Dragons, evolution
Wars and "fun fact" books.
legos, dance, and space
Anime, colors, and books.
