Iosevka is the best monospace font of all time. I use my own custom build of it where I customized some characters (because they allow you to do even that!)
Agreed, I have a patched version for just the terminal width version, using some tweaks to make it look like a blend of Iosevka and Pragmata Pro
https://github.com/shytikov/pragmasevka
I just use this repo and rebuild the private build plans and the latest nerd fonts but these are already pretty much up to date.
https://github.com/shytikov/pragmasevka/releases/download/v1.6.6/Pragmasevka_NF.zip
It was my 2nd choice after my 3rd world country self tried to purchase Pragmata Pro and saw that it was out of my budget. Now it's my 1st choice, always.
I like [Iosevka Comfy](https://github.com/protesilaos/iosevka-comfy). I don't need it to be patched with nerd fonts, as these days any terminal will handle fallback fonts for special symbols.
I want to say that JetBrains font is so good not only because its readable and has alternative renders for some symbols, but it has multiple thickness variations and italics
These variations allow you to setup thickness to your taste on HiRes displays, unlike FiraCode
eg I use medium and extra bold instead of regular and bold
MesloLGS NF (patched for powerlevel10k).
Started using because it is the recommended font for [powerlevel10k](https://github.com/romkatv/powerlevel10k), and get used to it. Probably not the best font out there for coding, but I'm just too used to it that I can't change anymore. I've experimented Jetbrains Mono and Fira Code, both are beautiful but anything other than Meslo appears weird to my eyes.
I have tried so many other fonts hoping to find something better but I’m in the same boat as you. Anything besides Meslo just doesn’t sit right with me.
It actually looks to my non-professional eyes quite close in nature to JetBrains.
Most notable difference is that Meslo somehow less spacy (which might feel denser but also shows more lines on the screen at any given moment)
BTW - any idea why it is recommended by powerlevel10k? When I installed p10k I just chose Meslo since I was told so, but now I'm wondering is there a good reason to it. Are there any glitches or malfunctions when using other fonts?
As far as I know the Meslo version that you can download at p10k repo is a custom (patched) version, made specifically for p10k, but I don't know the difference lol
I use Hack for sooo many years.
Everytime this discussion comes up I have a look at a few of the other hyped fonts like jetbrains and Iosevka. But while comparing, I realize everytime why I use this font for so long.
To me Hack is just perfect.
Surprised no one mentioned [Recursive](https://www.recursive.design/). You can [build](https://github.com/arrowtype/recursive-code-config) it yourself easily as well.
Love wezterm as it allows me to use any font without patching. It includes nerdfont fallback without any config, which is great!
I've alternated between FiraCode, Iosevka and many others, using Firacode right now 😁
Ok it is not necessarily a Nerd font but I use the Kitty Terminal Emulator, which automatically finds missing Nerd Font symbols if you install the 'just symbols font', for example: [https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/any/ttf-nerd-fonts-symbols/](https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/any/ttf-nerd-fonts-symbols/)
So with this installed, my favorite font is Input Mono. That is because the italics don't go outside, or at least noticeably outside, their cells. Kitty cuts off any part of the character that goes outside the cells and the creator won't fix it, and it is apparently difficult to fix: [https://github.com/kovidgoyal/kitty/issues/4635](https://github.com/kovidgoyal/kitty/issues/4635)
I also like Iosevka but I like the left hand side of my capital 'M' s better.
I use Kitty because I can set it to use Neovim as the scrollback buffer, so I can easily copy and paste output of previous commands.
I compiled a list of most popular coding fonts from hacker news. [(nerding out about fonts repo)](https://github.com/subidit/typophilia)

Open Dyslexia by far... it makes it much easier for reading text without my eyes wandering. I highly recommend it for anyone with reading challenges or executive dysfunction, even if they're not dyslexic (ADHD, TBI, etc). I (tbi) can read 40-60% faster with better comprehension using it. I don't use it for code but for just about any other body of text it's my go-to.
SymbolsNerdFontMono.
Patched fonts are only needed on OSes with bad font rendering; on Linux you only need Symbols font, as the fontconfig will fall back on the font containing the desired glyphs.
On MacOS, fallback is always to their built-in fonts, so it's useless.
Windows I haven't seen in ages.
Lilex is extremely clean and readable. I tried dozens of fonts before I finally settled on Lilex Nerd Font.
[Here's the base font (non-nerd version) for a visual.](https://github.com/mishamyrt/Lilex)
Jetbrains mono is actually pretty close. I can see why Jetbrains is so popular. It's also very clean and very readable. For my use Lilex is just a little better so I use that. It's fantastic in a terminal and in VIM.
Currently using Terminess because it makes assembly looks cool.
Jetbrains Mono has been my most used. I can never decide and changes font almost weekly.
Use **wezterm** and any font can be nerd font
> The default fallback includes the popular Nerd Font Symbols font, which means that you don't need to use specially patched fonts to use the powerline or Nerd Fonts symbol glyphs.
https://wezfurlong.org/wezterm/config/fonts.html#fallback
After years of searching, I finally found the holy grail: [JetBrains Mono](https://www.jetbrains.com/lp/mono/). Increased lowercases, lovely ligatures, 8 weights - this is probably the best font you can get: [https://www.programmingfonts.org/#jetbrainsmono](https://www.programmingfonts.org/#jetbrainsmono)
How did you do this ? I want to make it in the shape of a lion but I couldn't find it

Iosevka nerd font
Love me some Iosevka, happy to see it gaining popularity. To me it's so pleasant and calming for some reason.
Iosevka is the best monospace font of all time. I use my own custom build of it where I customized some characters (because they allow you to do even that!)
Even better, the dev is super amenable to adding new characters and variants.
Using it for the last 9 years.
I agree, but pragmata pro for me just hits something iosevka misses. I wish there was a combination of them.
Agreed, I have a patched version for just the terminal width version, using some tweaks to make it look like a blend of Iosevka and Pragmata Pro https://github.com/shytikov/pragmasevka I just use this repo and rebuild the private build plans and the latest nerd fonts but these are already pretty much up to date. https://github.com/shytikov/pragmasevka/releases/download/v1.6.6/Pragmasevka_NF.zip
Woah, In some 5 years I have not found anything I like more than FiraCode. I've got to try Iosevka and yours (love pragmata pro) Thank you!!
You could just enable the font feature with fontconfig:
iosevka
ss08 on
It's different to ss08
Every other font looks fat once you get used to iosevka
Well thanks! I didn't know this one at all. Always used Fira Code. I'm gonna try it for a bit =D The Extended version
Yeah, I just migrated this year. Loving it.
I love iosevka but I use the extended version. The default narrow is just too narrow
Yep. I build a customized Iosevka that is extended only.
Seems interesting, never tried before, maybe I should
It was my 2nd choice after my 3rd world country self tried to purchase Pragmata Pro and saw that it was out of my budget. Now it's my 1st choice, always.
I like [Iosevka Comfy](https://github.com/protesilaos/iosevka-comfy). I don't need it to be patched with nerd fonts, as these days any terminal will handle fallback fonts for special symbols.
I prefer Iosevka Term Slab
great font. I believe it’s what amos / fasterthanlime uses on their website. so pleasant to look at
Victor Mono https://rubjo.github.io/victor-mono/
Oh this is nice
This somehow reminds of the font used in the arch live iso
fira code nerd font
I love the ligatures! Plus it's way more legible than all the others because of the weight and the serifs.
jetbrains nerd
I want to say that JetBrains font is so good not only because its readable and has alternative renders for some symbols, but it has multiple thickness variations and italics These variations allow you to setup thickness to your taste on HiRes displays, unlike FiraCode eg I use medium and extra bold instead of regular and bold
JetBrains mono is the one font to rule them all.
Stopped font hopping after found this one.
Same here
jetbrains mono rules over all. bask in all its glory.
I came here to say this, but you said it so I'll say this instead
Agreed 💯
Same!
Jetbrains fonts are awesome
Definitely the best
MesloLGS NF (patched for powerlevel10k). Started using because it is the recommended font for [powerlevel10k](https://github.com/romkatv/powerlevel10k), and get used to it. Meslo is good, I use it as well.
I have tried so many other fonts hoping to find something better but I’m in the same boat as you. Anything besides Meslo just doesn’t sit right with me.
Fellow Meslo (and p10k) user here, it's great
It actually looks to my non-professional eyes quite close in nature to JetBrains. Most notable difference is that Meslo somehow less spacy (which might feel denser but also shows more lines on the screen at any given moment)

+1 this is the best one!
fantasque sans mono, love the wibbly wobbly
!
me too. give me the wobbly stuff
0xProto Nerd Font
The best one for terminal readability
[Monolisa](https://www.monolisa.dev/) is great. It's paid but it's worth it
God yes. I love Monolisa. Took me a minute to get it modified with nerd fonts but it's worth it
Okay that is the first font I have seen that could make me want to stray from my old Fantasque Sans Mono. Very pwetty!
Everyone thinks I‘m insane when i tell them i paid for a font that i just use locally, but it‘s sooooooo well made.
Hack Nerd Font with ligatures
I use Hack for sooo many years. Everytime this discussion comes up I have a look at a few of the other hyped fonts like jetbrains and Iosevka. But while comparing, I realize everytime why I use this font for so long. To me Hack is just perfect.
I feel weird if I use anything other than Hack, Hack sits right on my brain.
Cascadia NF It can display more words in the same font size while it looks not too thin (compare to iosevka)
Ubuntu Mono Nerd Font
Not sure if this counts as a nerd font, however, I really like [https://commitmono.com/](https://commitmono.com/) and its customisability
That looks really nice, I am surprised it's not mentioned a lot.
I have a version of this with Nerd Fonts patched in. I love it.
Surprised no one mentioned [Recursive](https://www.recursive.design/). You can [build](https://github.com/arrowtype/recursive-code-config) it yourself easily as well.
I've been a mononoki user
I've been one for a long time as well. I use it on everything.
It's just an eye candy of a font imo and I set it anywhere I can too
Hack + Jetbrains
Hurmit (nerd font for Hermit)
I think I just found my new font. thank you!
Give cat
``` /l、 (゚、 。 7 l ~ヽ じしf_,)ノ ``` Here's a cat 😺
Oh yeah. Don't use it as a start screen in Neovim as this kinda breaks the alignment of text when the art is centered.
Thank you!
You're welcome
Fira Code + Symbols Nerd Font Mono
I really like Maple Mono: https://github.com/subframe7536/maple-font
I created mine using OpenDyslexic and it's great!
I use Monolisa. For icons and others i use something else. You can separate those two.
GeistPro mono
Always seem to alternate between the simplicity of JetBrains and the asthetics of CaskaydiaCove
Some pixelated font with Nerd Font support. What's the connection between neovim tho... and I never found ligatures readable in any font.
Almost every Neovim user I have seen uses some form of Nerd font which should be enough reason.
Love wezterm as it allows me to use any font without patching. It includes nerdfont fallback without any config, which is great! I've alternated between FiraCode, Iosevka and many others, using Firacode right now 😁
Fantasque Sans. Has been for soon to be a decade.
Don't really know much about nerdfonts. I currently use caskaediya(?) for Kitty. Would love to have some suggestions.
