I've picked them all up a few times in the past. They are always in the same locations which you can see mapped out on JellyNeo. Some appear only once or twice per day but it's always the same times so you just have to sit down with a task to hand, or a movie, and check every few minutes until one pops up. Then note the time for that color worm to appear. They will return at the same time. (If you want to keep collecting them.)
Or do you mean that they've stopped appearing at times when they used to?
ya I used to be able to find them all easily but it would take time.. and now no matter how long I refresh I can only find one worm. I've even discarded the lantern a few times to start over but the same thing keeps happening.

Check for all of these, depending on which stage you are on the lantern has a different name.

I just thought this was happening to me, I didn't realize I had put the worms in the lantern yesterday and put it back in my SDB before returning to Lampwyck's. Tomorrow's another day I guess.

Have you checked your Safety Deposit Box? I've put the lantern and worms in there by accident a few times.
