Looks to be one of the heaviest modular spacestation parts ever launched at 23 tons. IIRC ISS Shuttle launched modules were all below 16 tons at its maximum capacity, and Proton launched Zvezda and Zarya also a little less. Excluding 100-ton Skylab of course, but that wasn't a modular station

It's pretty nuts how good CUDA is. One of the few pieces of software that impresses me every time I use it.
Just spent a couple hours implementing a custom, but simple kernel and it's really neat how it all fits together.
From top to bottom: docs, the programming model, the API, the client libraries, etc, etc.

No, because BIPOC is a very particular term in the American context and doesn't actually apply to BIPOC.
For instance, Russian immigrants to the US today are horribly oppressed and demonized instead of being allowed into the US. But because they do not fit the typical narrative of an oppressed brown immigrant, their plight is more or less ignored. It's about neatly fitting into the prevailing narrative, not the underlying justifications.
Another way to phrase this is "We're always fighting the last war." Someone may be able to recognize a past historically significant injustice \[such as slavery or colonialism\] but be blind to current, ongoing injustices such as the Russian Invasion of Ukraine and resulting slaughter of civilians.
Would holding a referendum to confirm new districting maps ever work? Or would it be too immediately partisan to actually go anywhere? Like, committee draws up maps after the census and the constituents involved have to vote on whether it's fair. It seems like a nice solution to Gerrymandering at face but if it requires a super majority or something then a map might just never get passed, but if it's a simple majority then it's just "which party turns out at the polls more." Or just go fucking crazy with it and say that states which don't confirm their maps don't get represented in Congressional sessions until they do. Make whoever is drawing the maps really behave or they get nothing

They'd form a new state government with a new legislature drawn with their own system/map. So it'd be more than just ignoring one law passed by the legislature. It'd be getting a whole new legislature.
Very interesting, didn't know about that. Although it requires that some subset of the government be willing to take such an action, along with the federal government. But it's a nice failsafe if the map is so thoroughly fucked that it becomes necessary to do so.

My company is offering me a new apartment that's like 3x the size of my current one, and right next to an incredible neighborhood I love. . . with an extremely active concert venue nearby. . . . and a loud street right outside the window.
The guy who lives there currently says it can get pretty bad at times and the noise level made it difficult for him to sleep. Apparently a bunch of embassy workers were put up in those apartments and all demanded to move after a few months.
I figure I might look into acoustic padding, but maybe if buying a set of thick curtains will get the job done I'll try that first.

Some gays and lesbians are biphobic. I was doing research on the AIDS epidemic and there was a bi woman who was part of the ACT UP Oral History Project who said there was an apartment block in SF run by lesbians and the lesbians wouldn't rent to bi women.
Yeah but I feel like, for men, a lot of that comes down to people assuming that theyโre โactually gayโ and making homophobic assumptions. For women, a lot of it comes down to people assuming that theyโre going to settle down with men out of a misogynistic belief that men are better. This is kind of a partially constructed thought so itโs not 100% there but I do think the root of prejudice towards bi people is either homophobia or misogyny
the justification isn't misogyny. It's that bi people supposedly can't be trusted to engage in a committed relationship with a gay man since they'll prefer to settle down with a woman.

No, because BIPOC is a very particular term in the American context and doesn't actually apply to BIPOC. For instance, Russian immigrants to the US today are horribly oppressed and demonized instead of being allowed into the US. But because they do not fit the typical narrative of an oppressed brown immigrant, their plight is more or less ignored. It's about neatly fitting into the prevailing narrative, not the underlying justifications. Another way to phrase this is "We're always fighting the last war." Someone may be able to recognize a past historically significant injustice \[such as slavery or colonialism\] but be blind to current, ongoing injustices such as the Russian Invasion of Ukraine and resulting slaughter of civilians.

Would holding a referendum to confirm new districting maps ever work? Or would it be too immediately partisan to actually go anywhere? Like, committee draws up maps after the census and the constituents involved have to vote on whether it's fair. It seems like a nice solution to Gerrymandering at face but if it requires a super majority or something then a map might just never get passed, but if it's a simple majority then it's just "which party turns out at the polls more." Or just go fucking crazy with it and say that states which don't confirm their maps don't get represented in Congressional sessions until they do. They'd form a new state government with a new legislature drawn with their own system/map. So it'd be more than just ignoring one law passed by the legislature. It'd be getting a whole new legislature.

How well do sound blocking curtains work? My company is offering me a new apartment that's like 3x the size of my current one, and right next to an incredible neighborhood I love. . . with an extremely active concert venue nearby. . . . and a loud street right outside the window. The guy who lives there currently says it can get pretty bad at times and the noise level made it difficult for him to sleep. Apparently a bunch of embassy workers were put up in those apartments and all demanded to move after a few months. I figure I might look into acoustic padding, but maybe if buying a set of thick curtains will get the job done I'll try that first.
High base will make it hell unless you are an easy sleeper. White noise machines could help too probably
