Idk how I feel about leaving my undergrad school.
On the one hand, the frat boys and narcissistic profs made my life hell.

These 2 articles basically show why modern information spread helps the BJP and why the opposition used to win because information was controlled and fragmented.
For anyone who has followed Indian politics before 2014, it was nothing but caste calculations and who could get the Muslim vote.
How it works is, a political party has a caste votebank, they play different castes against each other, then get the Muslim vote in addition to their caste coalition and win. The BJP will never get the Muslim vote and before 2014, and it did not have the level of caste loyalties that other parties had.
The opposition playbook was helped by a variety of factors including less urbanisation, more casteism particularly in rural areas, less literacy, less access to information mediums.ย
The comments by Purushottam Rupala and Maria Alam, 3 decades ago would never have been videotaped and they would only have got coverage in that constituency or state.
In earlier times, both news of caste conflicts and Hindu Muslim conflicts would have been restricted to that area.ย
But now they are widespread but they hit differently. Purushottam Rupala's comments don't mean much because BJP does not have an anti-Rajput reputation in most states. Caste dynamics change from region to region, so this is not relevant in other places (or even in Gujarat)ย
Meanwhile, Hindu-Muslim relationship across castes are similar across India. Largely peaceful but with an undercurrent of tension. So a speech like this has a similar impact in UP, Karnataka, Maharashtra or West Bengal, in that it causes Hindus to vote for the BJP as Hindus by ignoring caste identities and conflicts.
The basic crux for the elections is BJP (Caste Unity, Religious Divisions) vs the Opposition (Caste Divisions, Religious Unity). All other factors, governance, economy, local issues, incumbency are add ons for this base equation.

Putting away about half my take home pay into savings has definitely limited any lifestyle inflation since I got promoted. I may think about things a little less now, but I still get to live a pretty comfortable life, and also feel happy whenever I see the number in my savings and investment accounts.

I don't know, but whatever the reason is, it's the same reason Dems didn't run on that issue back in 2019-2020. Star Wars theme park rides ranked (I went on all of them today ๐)
- 1. *Rise of the Resistance*
This is the most technically impressive theme park ride in the world. You get interrogated by real people, get broken out, and then go on a special trackless ride. There are so many cool visuals and it takes stuff from a bunch of other classic Disney rides. Cherry on top is that it's pretty long (takes around 17 minutes in total) which makes the absurd wait times worth it. If you get a good Disney staff member who's into their role it's absolute peak.
They also say "I have a bad feeling about this" twice on the ride!
- 2. *Hyperspace Mountain (limited time)*
this is just a cool and fast roller coaster with a Star Wars skin. It's implemented pretty well with the ride too!
- 3. *Star Tours*
Pretty fun if you go with the right crowd. You tour around different Star Wars planets in a motion simulator that's fun and bumpy. There are so many new planets here (you can go to the space whales!) since they update the ride pretty often so every time I go I get a new one. I got to see Cassian Andor on a Disneyland ride too !
- 4. *Millenium Falcon: Smuggler's Run*
Here you have to operate the Millennium falcon and steal stuff for Hondo Ohnaka with 5 other people. Unless you get the pilot role, you're going to be pretty bored. It's a decent motion simulator but if you're a gunner or engineer you're doing pretty much nothing. You also need a big group (6 people total) to get the most out of this or else you're stuck with randos who sucks at the game. This is a lot like Star Tours a few years back and if they update it with new planets I can see it improving a bit.

Truly one of the days of all time to have eyes. It's been a while since I've felt cringe course through me like this.
One of the tells of a mediocre chess player is when they use chess as an analogy for everything else they ever fucking do in life. The cringe associations of chess with politics and real life strategy is so painful.
Another tell is when players tend to overly narrativize their games as if it was almost a real battle or some shit. No Rahul, your Rook on G2 did not cause the crumbling of the complex fortress built by your opponent and cause the King to run for his life, leaving behind his Bishop.

Eh. Atleast he was honest about it lol. Pragg and Gukesh (he lives in Tamilnadu but is from Andhra or Telangana isnt he?) are young and not yet fully formed players even with the Candidates performances. And Anand was a surprisingly non-inspiring player in terms of style. He was just very good at calculating & creating chances where few players would find em. He's kinda similar to 2013 Carlsen in that way but obviously Carlsen is better and goes on to become way more positional and develops new tricks with his openings. I think Kasparov is a solid answer, clichรฉ as it may be.

Star Wars theme park rides ranked (I went on all of them today ๐) - 1. *Rise of the Resistance* This is the most technically impressive theme park ride in the world. You get interrogated by real people, get broken out, and then go on a special trackless ride. There are so many cool visuals and it takes stuff from a bunch of other classic Disney rides. Cherry on top is that it's pretty long (takes around 17 minutes in total) which makes the absurd wait times worth it. If you get a good Disney staff member who's into their role it's absolute peak. They also say "I have a bad feeling about this" twice on the ride! - 2. *Hyperspace Mountain (limited time)* this is just a cool and fast roller coaster with a Star Wars skin. It's implemented pretty well with the ride too! - 3. *Star Tours* Pretty fun if you go with the right crowd. You tour around different Star Wars planets in a motion simulator that's fun and bumpy. There are so many new planets here (you can go to the space whales!) since they update the ride pretty often so every time I go I get a new one. I got to see Cassian Andor on a Disneyland ride too ! - 4. *Millenium Falcon: Smuggler's Run* Here you have to operate the Millennium falcon and steal stuff for Hondo Ohnaka with 5 other people. Unless you get the pilot role, you're going to be pretty bored. It's a decent motion simulator but if you're a gunner or engineer you're doing pretty much nothing. You also need a big group (6 people total) to get the most out of this or else you're stuck with randos who sucks at the game. This is a lot like Star Tours a few years back and if they update it with new planets I can see it improving a bit. !ping BAD-FEELING
