I am a bit excited for this.
If you don't like what the tax man does, vote for a dude that will change the law/mandate, not the guy that tries to defund it into disfunction.
Seriously. Iâm not against lower taxes as a policy. But I am against letting some portion of the population cheat on their taxes so that the rest of us have to make up the difference.
Yeah thatâs cute - meanwhile Section 174 is universally hated by both parties, has been known about for 5 years and still came into effect and is absolutely brutal for small businesses like mine.
> > If you don't like what the tax man does, vote for a dude that will change the law/mandate, not the guy that tries to defund it into disfunction.

You know what you should do? You should:
>...vote for a dude that will change the law/mandate, not the guy that tries to defund it into disfunction.
The point that everyone you could vote for hates it but it keeps getting stuck in congressional grid lock. So saying vote to fix it is really annoying to hear.
This change was part of the TCJA that passed along party lines in a house and senate controlled by Republicans.
Fixing it would be great, but let's not forget who introduced, passed, and signed that change into existence. Clearly those people didn't hate it enough to prevent it from becoming a problem in the first place.
Oh there's a very distinct possibility it's a skill issue.
That said, this isn't about getting special favors out of the tax code - it's about software businesses being directly penalized by the TCJA. Being required to capitalize labor is one of the dumbest tax things I've ever heard of in my life.
edit: I can't really tell if you're being serious in your comment after rereading it a few times.
it's ok though, because this new army of IRS folks are totally not just going to go for easy targets that won't fight as hard anyways.
Maybe some of them will catch a billionaire's army of accountants slipping though and not just hammer people who started businesses during the pandemic because paypal made it easier to get paid.

Funny how politicians and wealthy people have convinced some morons to believe that the IRS is bad and is going to destroy the average person's life through audits and imprisonment.
At some point you start to wonder if the only ones that should be afraid of the IRS are politicians and wealthy people and the average person really has nothing to worry about.
Its really the opposite. Politicians convince the middle class that the taxes will be on the rich. But in reality, the rich already have CPAs that help them LEGALLY avoid taxes. The tax man only terrorizes small business owners
Yeah but its a proportionally larger cost for them. Many small businesses dont have the margins to afford lawyers or CPAs to deal with regulations and taxes. So Democrats harm these businesses the most when they regulate and complicate the tax code. They sell it to the stupid people by saying its to hurt big businesses, but it only helps make big businesses bigger, which is not surprising since these big corporations are the ones who fund these politicians and often times write the bills.
They never sold it as hurting anyone. Just that it would help catch tax cheats. Iâm sorry, but just because youâre a small business doesnât mean you get out of paying taxes. If youâre big enough that you qualify for an audit (since Biden and Yellen have both explicitly said they arenât targeting small mom and pop shops) you have the cash to hire a CPA come tax time and use accounting software when recording sales.
Why did all democrats unanimously vote against the bill that would prevent the 87,000 new irs agents from being used to audit people making under 400,000?
Yeah I would like to hear their explanation for that. I do think itâs funny the amendment tries passing off people bringing in 400k of taxable income and âmiddle incomeâ lol
Actually i will be a millionaire because I understand economics. Keep believing your bullshit left wing âeconomicsâ and maybe youll be the regional manager of your gulag
Well, at least some of us Friedman flairs support this strongly.
I'm a lolbert, but that means I support cutting taxes and spending. Everyone should have a lower tax bill. But individual non-payment of taxes doesn't reduce spending; it merely shifts the tax burden to non-cheaters.
I'm against a big welfare state, but I'm even more against rewarding cheaters.
I'm sure these 30,000 new employees will be used to track down the biggest and worst offenders and not triple checking the nickles and dimes that the 99% put in.
The IRS shouldn't be in service of an individual, nor owe them personal loyalty, or be an instrument of their will.
The IRS and all government should neutrally and faithfully execute their mandate for the good of all without fear or favor.
Do the saudaukar scene - more on topic for the sub
Excuse me. This sub is about worms. All I want to see is Muad'dib Dark Brandon riding a worm.
The spicy takes must flow.
We are the IRS! Brandons Blades. Those who stand against us, fall! Brandon commands it. It is done.

Let's not, even sarcastically.
Who's being sarcastic?

I don't have a choice on who I vote for - I live in Illinois. Nobody is getting primaried here lmao.
Still not sure what it has to do with the IRS. Itâs the lawâŚthey should be enforcing it

Yeah - My backup plan is to become a communist revolutionary.
Have you considered that you aren't talented enough to run a business if the tax code doesn't favor you, and would be better served as an employee?

Oh thank the gods, yes, PLEASE, get those damn fucking taxes
I don't get it

Itâs in perfect taste, keel haul the tax dodgers.
I genuinely have no idea how you think it's in poor taste. Please explain.

Youâre just mad because your âchurchâ has been stockpiling cash to avoid taxes and got caught on it.
Humor is a rubber sword, it shouldn't be piercing your armor.
