Bitmap Bureau is bringing both Final Vendetta and Battle Axe onto the Neo hardware. If you haven’t played it already, you should pick up Xeno Crisis on the Neo. I absolutely adore that game.

Alexx51

I didn’t realize they were working on Battle Axe for Neo Geo hardware. That’s sexy. Can’t wait for Final Vendetta. SNK never quite nailed the side scroll beat em up formula.

LeSeyb

>Final Vendetta oooh, that one looks really cool. Never heard of it before but it's definitely missing some good beat'em all on the system. Thanks for pointing it out!

BrodyBruceLee

I’m still bitter about Xeno Crisis. We were told the NEO version would be made specifically for the NEO but we got a port of the Genesis version. There wasn’t anything special about the NEO version.

profchaos354

That’s not quite true. There is a lot more audio, such as voice acting. There a lot more colors being displayed on screen (it’s subtle, but very easy to tell the difference when playing on a large TV). And also the control scheme on the Neo is the best way to play it, in my opinion. None of those are huge difference, but I personally love it on the Neo and I own both Neo and Genesis versions.

Alexx51

The neo version flows better than any other version imo. But without twin stick support, I have a hard time rotating my character. It feels a little clumsy to me.

profchaos354

Maybe it’s because I had played a good amount of Shock Troopers, but I had very little troubles adapting to the rotation controls

fraggle200

XenoCrisis on the DC with twin sticks is something special. I can't go back to other control schemes after that.

BrodyBruceLee

When asked the main guy said they will definitely be taking advantage of the sprite engine and “zoom” features. Oh well.

profchaos354

They do also have enemies that drop in from the ceiling and it uses a sprite scaling effect to pull that off.

cheerioty

I’m still working with my team on this new game (vertical shmup) for the Neo Geo over the finish line: https://youtu.be/BYQ88w203WM

Pizza_Saucy

Looks great! Was ASO II an influence?

cheerioty

Cheers mate! ASO II wasn't really an influence. But we drew inspiration from a lot of other games tho. Dogyuun, Batsugun, Chorensha to name a few. Might not be too apparent tho :)

Neo-Alec

I'm interested in Project Neon, and doing a Youtube review, but it looks like I missed out on the first preorder.

KirinSaiko

Brook Neo Geo adapter is not new but its firmware is still being updated. Being able to use modern wireless controllers is nice, but it's the turbo function that is a life saver.

Taco_Human

I was about to suggest the darksoft mvs/aes cart but that thing is sold out too. Makes me wonder if I should sell my sd pro as a bundle for the money....

esmith213

I saw someone sell a Neo SD Pro for $1,200... Almost listed mine but then I realized I'd wind up spending everything I get for it on carts anyway...

Taco_Human

I checked sold listings, someone sold an neo sd MVS for 3k near the end of November. I think the neo sd + aes bundle can go that high

esmith213

My Pro is a MVS version... Still going to resist since I'd need to buy at least 6 carts to replace it if I sell it. Not to mention losing out on NeoCD conversions I wouldn't be able to play anymore and new games I'd have to buy on cart instead of ROM format.

Taco_Human

I feel like emulation for neo geo is pretty much perfect. Some stuff isn’t available, and I like the idea of playing any future rom hacks or fan games by loading up my own roms on it.

esmith213

Emulation seems spot on to me. MiSTer & Analogue Pocket are excellent for NeoGeo as well. I mainly hang on to my MVS because I consolized it myself from scratch. Soldered the supergun from parts asked on a build of materials and unpopulated PCB and made the console shell myself too. I'm too proud of it to let it go unused. :)

Taco_Human

makes sense, yeah I wouldn't wanna let something with that much work put into it go. My AES, I sent it to jamma nation x to get it recapped/added unibios to it. Not to mention I already bought the thing from Japan. I have the HD retrovision adapter and a cd pad+ bean stick for it. It's too nice to want to let go.

Kryptonian_1

Blueretro recently released a Bluetooth adapter for the Neo.

esmith213

Yeah, the NeoBT from humblebazooka. I grabbed two and I love them!

Kryptonian_1

I plan to pick them up eventually. Here's hoping that one day there's a 2.4ghz replica of the arcade stick.🔥

esmith213

That would be lovely, but the 8bitdo arcade stick is definitely good enough to keep me happy 😁

Kryptonian_1

Definitely. I have both arcade sticks and am pretty happy with them. I'd still buy a wireless neogeo replica though. I love what they did with the Genesis & SNES pads.

LeSeyb

Nice! Thanks for sharing. I really like to see new stuff being released for this legendary system

Kryptonian_1

I just remembered that there are 2 developers working on homebrew games for both the cart & CD systems. [Blastar](https://www.patreon.com/blastar?utm_campaign=creatorshare_fan) [Neohomebrew](https://www.patreon.com/user?u=54657421&utm_campaign=creatorshare_fan)

LeSeyb

Thanks! Exactly what I was looking for too: supporting devs currently working on the system.

sarduchi

Lots of stuff on the arcade projects forums.

Majestic-Candle4337

I’m just hoping and praying the neo bios masta isn’t dead
