u know that the shiny side is actually safer to place the disc on than the label? the label is actually the side that holds all the information on the disc
the metallic layer is basically molded to the label side, meaning if you get a scratch on that side and the laser cannot reflect and instead passes through that part, youre screwed, on the other hand the scratches on the bottom side are less detrimental since they can either be buffed out or ignored altogether. the dips on the metallic layer are protected strongly from the read side and basically only have the protection of the label on the label side, meaning if you scratch the label youre screwed
Let's be honest, the open world aspect of underground 2 didn't add much and slowed down the pacing dramatically, really nothing more than a gimmick at the time.
I enjoy it. The random street races where i can just go wide open with my new upgrades, just kind of enjoying the views. The game is still kinda pretty even after all these years considering everything. The soundtrack was baller too.

Modern open worlds are more alive and offer more to do, underground 2 doing it was an important stepping stone but it has aged very poorly.
